NB200 and Toshiba hotkeys ?

Hi all,
I've installed Windows Seven Professional on my Toshiba NB200. It works well.
I have installed all the officials drivers from Toshiba but it still two little problems :
First, I have not the Toshiba's hotkeys (shortcuts) working good on Windows 7 : I can change the luminosity for example, but without any graphical information. I have no graphical information when stopping the WLan, or when changing volume, or dis-activating touch pad, etc. so the [FN] + {F1, F2, ..., F12} shortcuts are working but without any graphical information. I suppose it's the missing Toshiba Hotkeys Utilities that is the origin of this problem! where to get it?
The second prob' is that I can't rotate the screen in Windows' Screen resolution configuration. Anyone as an idea why i can't do it? The intel's chipset is not enough powerful to do so?
Thank you for helping me.

  • What is the difference between NB200 and NB205?

Hello I'm in UK! I'm wanting to know what is the difference between NB200 and NB205? Thanks

I agree with Jeff. All notebook models with 5 at the end are notebook models designed for US market.
Check please http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp - Toshiba US page and compare it withToshiba UK.
If you are from UK I recommend you to buy one in your country.
So you will have full support and everything will be easier for you.

True, the point we're both doing is that one sub-vi OP's probably debugged is in highlight mode. Disabling highlighting as well as disable debugging must be done on a per vi basis.

  • Qosmio X70-A - difference between nVidia and Toshiba GPU driver

Is there any difference between the nvidia display driver and the one packed by toshiba?
I've been using the one from toshiba but Geforce Experience is giving me a headache with warnings about a newer driver and toshiba doesn't seem to supply one.

Yes of course there is a difference between the nVidia GPU drivers (or any drivers provided by graphic card manufacturers) and drivers provided by Toshiba.
The GPU drivers from Toshiba driver page are modified and made for mobile usage.
Every notebook model supports different components (CPU, cooling modules, etc) and different design. Therefore the heat dissipation is always different.
The GPU driver provided by Toshiba supports some kind of GPU overheating protection and protects the graphic chip from damage. This means that GPU performance is controlled by the driver and in case the internal temperature would increase to critical level, the GPU performance would be decreased. Also the notebook shuts down automatically if temperature would be too high.

Thanks for the info Jeff, it led me in the right direction.
Quick summary: Linux users will need to get the DOS boot floppy image from Toshiba's US website.
    Details:
It turns out that there is no floppy install in the BIOS update file that is provided by Toshiba Europe (I have an NB-200 PLL20E bought in the UK), which means no DOS-based flash utility.
This is the update file from Toshiba Europe:
    http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20090925081640.zip
Unzip it to get BIOS_V160_Win.exe with the following md5:
    de1cc03a0c732c61638697c8df72d582 BIOS_V160_Win.exe
The .exe file is actually a 7zip self-extract archive:
    % 7z x BIOS_V160_Win.exe
    Extracting go.bat
    Extracting avaa160a.rom
    Extracting setup.exe
The BIOS is in avaa160a.rom. The setup.exe file is another self-extracting installer thing that contains winphlash.
Now, the US website has an even larger number of models for the NB200. I tried a bunch of them and they all point to the same file for the 1.60 BIOS:
    http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/ll20v160.exe
This file is a self-extracting ZIP, and it contains _the exact same_ .exe that is found in the EU version, but under a different name:
    de1cc03a0c732c61638697c8df72d582 buffalo10a_10b_10c_bios_v160_win.exe
Fortunately, it also contains a bootable CD image (ll20v160.iso) and a floppy image. The latter is named 2355d160.ima and can be found in the root directory of the CD image, as well as inside the 2355d160.exe self-extracting ZIP file.
In addition, the US update file comes with a nice readme and changelog. I suppose EU users are all assumed to use Windows and not be overly inquisitive about BIOS revision history.
A peek inside the floppy image shows the usual files you'd expect to find on a boot floppy, plus the DOS flasher (phlash16.exe) and BIOS image (avaa160a.rom). The latter is of course identical to the one found in the EU version. However, even if it weren't, one would simply loop-mount the floppy image R/W and copy the correct .rom to it. A bootable ISO is easily created from a boot floppy.
Either of the two images can be booted off a USB flash drive (this is left as an exercise for the reader :-) ). I made a bootloader (grub2) entry for the floppy image as I had an existing setup for this.
Finally, to summmarise the whole process for Unix users:
    wget http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/ll20v160.exe
    unzip ll20v160.exe 2355d160.exe
    unzip 2355d160.exe
    <boot floppy image 2355d160.ima however you like>
    /-sb.

  • Macbook Pro and Toshiba HDTV Hooked up but no streaming

I hooked up the macbook to my Toshiba TV using proper cords purchased at BestBuy (Dvi and HDMI) I set the TV to HDMI and it displays the original wallapaper (the purple space scene - which is no longer my background) and that's it. I can have the netflix video playing on my laptop and nothing appears on the TV.
I don't have the TV manual any longer. I am running Snow Leopard.

The TV is being run as an extension to the desktop, meaning additional space to the normal screen and desktop. You will notice that you can move the cursor onto the TV from the MBP. Also, you can drag windows to the TV's desktop from the MBP's desktop.
If you open Displays Preferences and click on the Arrangement tab, you will see small blue rectangles meant to represent the two displays (MBP's built-in display and externally attached display). Note that one of the blue rectangles has a white bar across the top. This is meant to be a representation of which display has the menu bar (and Dock). You can drag that little white bar from one blue rectangle to the other. This will cause the real menu bar to move from your MBP's screen to the TV. Try that and the function of the two displays will flip flop, meaning you can now see Netflix on the TV.
Note that you can also rearrange the placement of the blue rectangles to be more in keeping with the actual arrangement of the displays. You can also turning mirroring on and off. With mirroring, the MBP's screen and the TV will both show the same thing, but not necessarily at the best resolution.

  • HDCP problems with DirecTV and Toshiba 34HFX84

DirecTV pushed an update over the weekend and now I can't watch HBO because my system is not concluding that I have HDCP compliance.
My 34HFX84 is listed as HDCP Compliant. Toshina support validated this, and suggested it could be the cable, saying something about version 1.4 or greater.
    My questions:
    1) Does this make sense? How do I find a version number of a HDMI cable?
    2) Has anyone else seen this?

Could be Toshiba support is correct; changing to a HDMI 1.4 cable might actually fix the problem -
    http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_1_4/hdmi_1_4_faq.aspx#1
    from the link -
"The HDMI 1.4 specification adds a data channel to the HDMI connection, enabling high-speed, bi-directional communication. "
"Will content distribution and recording be possible in a system connected via the HDMI Ethernet Channel?
Yes. The HDMI Ethernet Channel allows connected devices to share digital content in its native format. For instance, if it is protected by HDCP encryption, it will stay in its encrypted format, and can only be accessed if all the devices in the system are HDCP-compliant. Unprotected content, such as digital HD broadcast programming or user-generated HD video, will of course be free of any content protection."
No guarantees, but the info in the linked article sure makes it look like a 1.4 cable replacement might solve a lot of "gotcha" problems.

  • Homegroup madness Win 8.1 and Toshiba cloud TV

I purchased both a Dell "all in one" running Win 8 and a Toshiba Cloud TV that includes "mediashare". For some time, it worked great. But around the time I upgraded to Win 8.1, mediashare stopped working. I've gone through all my settings
(that I know of) and found no issues. Used "find and fix" options with no relief. File sharing and network discovery are turned on. The TV shows up under "Network" but there is nothing under "Homegroup" and the TV can not access

    Hi,
Seems the TV is not in your homegroup?
Please make sure that you've added TV to your homegroup, move mouse to the right charm bar\Settings\Change PC settings\Networking\Homegroup, Tap or click the control under

  • Microsoft Wireless Presenter 8000 mouse and Toshiba Bluetooth Stack

Some of the specific functionalities of this MS Bluetooth Mouse do not work with the latest Toshiba Bluetooth Stack : magnifier, digital ink...
The other functions of this mouse (and the remote controller functions too) work perfectly. The magnifier, digital ink, etc..., are working only if the MS USB controller provided with this bluetooth mouse is plugged in.
Many hardware sites and forums are talking about this problem, ie at the end of this page : http://www.hardware-pacers.com/pages.php?catType=r&pid=352&id=968&pageX=on
Is there a chance to have these functions (magnifier, digital ink...) working with a future release of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack ? Any idea of a delay ? Or any idea of a tip to have this working today ?

Of course : I have installed the latest version of IntelliPoint software. A mouse/remote as sophisticated as the Wireless Presenter 8000 can't work without its software.
But one more time, I speak about a Bluetooth MS Mouse, and what I don't understand is that a few funtionnalities (magnifier, digital ink) only works with the MS USB plug delivered with the mouse.
What I'd like is to use ALL the functionnalities of my bluetooth mouse with only the bluetooth adapter integrated into my Toshiba Libretto U100.

  • IPOD PHOTO AND TOSHIBA LAPTOP

Has anyone had problems using their ipod photo with a Toshiba laptop? I'm having some serious issues...so serious that an apple specialist suggested that I should get a different computer. Any chance someone else has had a problem and has found a solution??

when i got it about a year and a half ago i couldnt even use it on my laptop because toshiba and apple were completely incompatible. then, after a little less than a year they were able to update the software somehow so that apple products would work on SOME toshibas. So, i tried to use it on my computer and it works ok for about a week, then it died. i sent that one back and they sent me a refurbished one and that took about a month to die. i just called apple today and i was told to send that one out and that i will receive another refurbished one (i have the extra year of insurance). anyway, basically i always get the sad ipod icon or the folder with the exclamation point and at times when i plug it in the computer wont even recognize that someone has been plugged in. also, my computer will freeze, etc. any chance you know how to fix the problem?
