NB202-325BL - Meaning of system indicator lights

I am puzzled and frustrated after about 2 hours of searching the world online I have yet to find any information on the system indicator lights for a Toshiba NB202-325BL. Does anyone know what the meanings are in detail?
For example what does a flashing orange on/off system indicator light mean when the laptop lid is closed and sitting idol?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
The Toshiba NB202 isnt known to me. Do you mean NB200?
Normally you can find some informations in your user manual. There you can find a description for every system indicator light. If you dont have the user manual anymore you can download it on the Toshiba website.

  • Mbp late 2011 battery indicator light question

The mbp will not boot or turn on.
Without being connected to a power source, none of the battery indicator lights come on when I push the little battery indicator light button.
Once I plug in the power cord and push the little battery indicator light button, the very left battery indicator light flashes on and off green.
    What does this mean?
I have detached the battery and re-attached the battery adapter to no avail. (Using the following instructions: http://www.spathi.net/tech-support/macbook-pro-wont-turn-on-charge-light-blinkin g-orange/)

If you have AppleCare, they will mail you the battery.
If you do not have AppleCare, call Customer Relations 1-800-767-2775. See what they can do for you. CS will determine if your model MBP qualifies for a free battery.
An Apple Store is not the only place to go. There may be an AASP closer. See KB Article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304398 How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP)
Another thing you can do is to go to System Profiler. Copy/Paste the Power info here. *Do not post any serial numbers.*

  • Indicator Light Comes On By Itself

I've got an Xserve G4 here and the indicator light seems to keep coming on by itself.
Server monitoring app says there are no hardware problems, and I can turn it off, but eventually it comes back on again...
Anyone know if this is some kind of known problem?
...haven't found anything to suggest this is the case yet, but it's all I've got to go on.

Ok I set the server monitior to email with problems and this is what I get for the G5. Does that mean that the main fan is bad? Or the machine is to hot?

  • Battery Charging Indicator Light Is Out

I own a tangerine iBook, OS X 10.4 operating system.
For a year or so charging the battery while the power cord in has been a "fussy" project -- sometimes it wouldn't charge until I moved the "plug-in-to-the-computer" end of the cord out ever so slightly. I bought a new power cord, but that didn't change things.
I don't have internet at hom, so most days I take my laptop and power cord to the public library and use the library's WiFi to look for work. Yesterday I came home, plugged in the power cord, and no battery charging light. I "jiggled" the cord, got out the old power cord and tried that one, then I tried a different electrical outlet. No battery charging indicator light, and the battery is discharging while I use it with the power cord.
I'm assuming this is an electrical problem that I can't fix, but can anyone fix it? When the battery runs out, will the iBook keep running when plugged into an electircal outlet, or is the electricity not getting to where it need to be?
I've had problems with the battery not charging before, and once I was advised to reset something, but I've alway had the indicator light on, so now I don't know if power is getting to my computer.
I went to About This Computer, clicked on Power and saw this:
    AC Charger Information:
      AC Charger (Watts):    0
      Connected:    No
      Charging:    No
which looks like it doesn't think I'm connected to any power source.

Yes, if resetting the PMU doesn't work, it does sound like the DC-in board has failed.
It is not an easy repair (especially for someone who describes herself as "NonTech."

  • Status Indicator Light not working

I've been having a recurring issue with the status indicator light on my 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.8 GHz (Mid-2009). I learned recently that it's normal for the status indicator light to be on when the computer starts up, shuts down and goes to sleep. Lately, the status indicator light has not appeared at all when the computer starts up, goes to sleep, and shuts down. I've tried almost everything and still nothing has worked
1.) Checked to see if any of the ports are working: FireWire, Ethernet, MagSafe, SD card, USB, Mini-DisplayPort. These ports are behaving as normal, working fine.
2.) Checked and successfully paired a seven button Apple Remote to test the IR receiver.
3.) Ran an Apple Hardware Test, found nothing wrong, passed the test.
4.) Reinstalled and erased my hard drive, still having issues.
5.) Bluetooth, AirPort Extreme, microphone, audio ports, speakers, and iSight are working.
6.) Battery works and the charger is working.
7.) Backlighting for display and keyboard work.
The computer is only 1 year and 4 months old. The issue began occurring two months ago. Now the computer does sleep, but if the fans are going, it takes a bit longer for the computer to go to sleep when I close the lid.
I haven't replaced the hard drive or installed any new hardware.

My computer's warranty with Apple, including tech support, service, and repair, has expired. However, I do have a remaining two year warranty with Best Buy Geek Squad.
I'm wondering how much would it cost out of pocket to take this computer to an Apple Store for service and repair with a Mac Genius?
So is there anything that could be wrong with this computer and if so, please help!

If you used "Secure erase", you can be certain that there is nothing left on the disk that is causing your problem.
Because you have a long wait for access to an Apple Authorized Service Provider, if you merely clicked "erase" (the one that does not take more than an hour), you could try Secure Erase now if you want to try the final possible fix you can do on your own.
... and installed the combo update recently, the size for that update was over 1GB.
    That is the right one.
I have been regularly doing those permissions. Thanks for the suggestions.
    You're welcome.
I'm taking my Mac to Geek Squad and Mac Genius next month when I visit my dad in Georgia, there's an Apple Store about 45 minutes away from his house and a Best Buy that sells Macs, cause it turns out Geek Squad's coverage for Apple/Mac is only in places where they sell Macs. I used my zip code and turned up 0 results but I typed the zip code for where my dad lives in North Georgia, and a Best Buy in Atlanta is available. So I will definitely go there and visit the Apple Store to at least see what my options are.
If you need help from Apple before you can go to a physical location next month, other Apple Technical Support service option contacts are available here:
      http://www.apple.com/contact/
Best Buy by far has the best warranty for computers from what the sales associate was telling me. Apparently, Best Buy warranty covers spills, drops & breaks, and overall maintenance issues. In fact, they told me if the computer can't be fixed, they'll replace it with a new one.
It should surprise nobody when salesmen tell customers that their own warranty product is best. Because you have apparently already paid for the Best Buy warranty, you can take advantage of their warranty and enjoy the "best" results if you can find a location that honors it.
Thanks for advice and if there's anything else you can think of, let me know.
You're welcome. You have all my suggestions. However, if I think of anything else, I will post back here.
We will watch for your status update. Please let us know what fix works for you.

  • G5 Froze & No Longer Able To Start Up - Indicator Light Flashes 3 Times

I was using Logic while my PowerMac G5 DP 1.8 froze completely. I wasn't able to escape the program or do anything else for that matter so I manually powered down and then when I turned my G5 on again the computer would not start up while the indicator light on the front panel flashed 3 times and then paused and then repeated again indefinitely. Over time the fan starts softly and then gets very loud.
I have been reading alot of reports, here and elsewhere, that this has been happening to alot of G5's after about 3 years time (which is approximately the same age as my computer). I also tried a bunch of stuff like the PMU reset, pulling out some of the memory and trying to restart the computer but nothing has worked.
From my web research of other people's experiences, it appears that the logic board or the CPU or both need to be replaced. I have an appointment to take the G5 to my local Apple store but I was wondering what to expect. The G5 is obviously no longer under warranty but are they going to expect me to pay for a new board or CPU? I also read somewhere that in one case the Apple store just fixed the computer with no charge for parts or labor.
Has anybody had this experience recently and know what to expect? I'm really disappointed and frustrated and this couldn't have happened at a worse time for me! Any advice or insight would def be appreciated...

    Thanks for your response DP...
I went to my Apple store appointment last night and was informed that 3 blinking lights means either that there is a problem with RAM or that the Logic Board needs to be replaced. They tried to start the machine with their RAM with no success which leaves only the Logic Board as the culprit.
Once again I am extremely disappointed that my computer which is only 4 years old needs a major repair! And I was quoted ~ $800 from the Apple Store to get it fixed!!!
FAO DP: Which UPS do you recommend? And do you think that a UPS would have saved my Logic Board? Is there a connection between the use of a UPS and the longevity of the Logic Board in your experience? What hurts the Logic Board - spikes or surges or is it drop-off's too? And just to check, regarding the symptoms I described above, does it seem like my power supply is still working ok?

  • Indicator light failure on G3 iBook after security update

I use a G3 iBook as second choice for occasional work. Last night after installing the latest Tiger security update I noticed that the indicator light at the front of the book no longer functions. When I put the iBook to sleep I saw there was no little breathing light that's usually going in and out.
Is this inevitably a hardware malfunction or could there be something in the system that might be causing this?

    Hi Tom,
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    If no improvement...
Have you done a PRAM reset...

  • ACD sleep indicator light not pulsing

I installed Windows Vista Home Basic on my Mac Pro yesterday. My display is a 20" ACD (aluminium).
Since this Vista installation, the indicator light on the ACD does not pulse during sleep, but remains on steadily. The front indicator light on the Mac does pulse as normal during sleep.
In both instances, this indicator light is off as normal on both the Mac and the ACD while the Mac is being used.
Is this an issue others have seen, and does it have any negative indications?

In Displays/Option, the Display Power Button preference had been set to 'Turns the display on and off' and this had caused the problem I described earlier. I am not sure why this option had been selected after the installation of Vista yesterday, because I didn't open Preferences during or after this installation.
I have now changed the option to 'Puts the system to sleep or wakes it'. This is the option I normally use and I was not actually aware it caused the display sleep light to pulse.
The display has now returned to the more usual state (for me) of gently pulsing.
Thank you, Malcolm, you have been very helpful.

Click the Apple in the upper left corner of your screen followed by “System Preferences” from the context menu
Click the “Dock” option to open its preference pane.
Click the checkbox next to “Show indicator lights for open applications” so it is checked.

I'm confused. I just got an email from Apple Support Community (updates) and I see that a "baltwo" response is marked "This solved my question" (no offense directed towards baltwo). The question just seems to be more defined, not resolved. This is an Apple OS problem (seemingly) and needs to be directed towards a technical representative, not the community. I would ask that if anyone knows how to push this issue towards Apple, that is where the solution lies.
File a bug report with Apple via feedback. Do note that this goes through marketing and sales. No telling when it'll get to engineering. Alternatively, if you want to report this issue directly to Apple's engineering, bypassing marketing and sales, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering and you'll be able to track its status.

  • My MacBook pro 2009, won't turn on but the indicator light does.

Hey guys, I am computer illiterate as far as hardware goes, so I hope someone can help me.  I have a 2009 MacBook pro, and today was the first day I have ever had a problem with it.  It won't turn on, however the little power indicator light does come on and it stays on.  The battery indicator is green.  The keyboard isn't working because when I press on the caps lock button it doesnt turn green.  I tried to charge my IPhone to it to see if it was getting enough power, and the IPhone didn't charge.  So I'm guessing that my MacBook isn't getting enough power, could it be this simple or more severe.

It sounds like your MBP doesn't produce a startup chime that is an indication that the POST, Power On Self Test, has failed which means that it has hardware problems that are serious enough to prevent POST from completing successfully.
You are either going to have to do some serious troubleshooting to find out what part of the MBP has failed or take it to Apple and ask them to fix it for you. They will give you an estimate after they see it so that you can decide if you are going to have it fixed or not.

  • Dock Indicator Lights Gone

Greetings. Ever since updating to 10.8.4 my Dock indicator lights no longer appear. I've searched discussions and tried the following, all to no avail:
Type "killall Dock" in Terminal. Icons are the default set, but no indicator lights appear
Apple > Dock > Preferences > toggle "Turn on/off indicator lights" still nothing
System > Core Services > Dock and tried restoring from Time Machine....still no Dock indicators appear
    User > Library > Preferences > TRASH com.apple.dock.plist....nothing changed
Change from 3D to 2D Dock, in the hopes that they might appear....no luck
To note, I've used DockMod prior to updating to 10.8.4, but now there are no lights to be found anywhere. Might this 3rd party app be the culprit? If so, how to do I restore my indicator lights to factory settings?
    Please help....THANKS!

Probably, since my Dock indicator lights were unaffected by the update.
To uninstall DockMod you will have to consult its documentation, if it exists. The problem with such third-party system hacks is that they rarely survive OS X updates and often cause unanticipated, seemingly unrelated problems. Never install something without knowing how to uninstall it.
