NB205 Recovery Media Error

I recently purchased an NB205-N310BN-G for which I thought was a good deal, but having doubts now. It came without a Operating system and the previous owner claimed he had removed all partitions as well. No problem I thought and purchased the Recovery USB Media from Toshiba, plugged it in as per the instructions, switched the boot menu to USB Option and away it goes for about 10 seconds after it reads the device it pops up a screen titled at the top:
Toshiba Recovery Media
then it reads
Error: F3FF000001
then says to
Press OK to turn off.
And as expected it turns off after pressing ok.
I've check the bios and even reset to system defaults as far as boot sequence goes and followed the instructions with the same result. I can't find anywhere what this code is or what to do. I called Toshiba and the auto answer service tells me they have a new number for tech support then disconnects. As you can guess it's very frustrating. Hope some can shed some light on this problem as I'm completely lost at this point.
Thanks
Rick

I am getting the exact error when trying to use the Recovery USB Media from Toshiba to reset my NB205-N210.
Does anyone know what the error code F3FF000001 means?

Toshiba NB200 Part Number PLL28A-007012. (Windows 7 starter)
Using Recovery Media Creator from within Win7 and writing to a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 8Gb USB drive.
The Recovery Media Creator functions and completes the task without errors.
After changing the boot sequence to USB first, the PC boots from the 8Gb USB drive and almost immediately stops and shows this on the screen:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
    1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. Choose your language setting, and then click "next"
    3. Click "repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc contact your sys admin or computer manufacturer.
    File: \Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc0000225
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
I attempted using the Recovery Media Creator twice on the same USB drive with the same result both times.
The USB drive was emptied before each creation.
So, the problem is, the USB Recovery Media will not boot due to the 0xc0000225 error.
Could someone please offer a solution to this problem?.
    Many thanks

Its an NB200 (netbook) with no optical drive, and I don't have an external drive to try.
I could try another USB memory stick, but the only other one I have big enough is a 16Gb Titanium Cruzer, as opposed to the 8Gb Ti Cruzer I was using.
So I could empty the 16Gb or go pick up a cheaper one, if nothing more comes from this forum.
    cheers

  • Poor Support for Recovery Media Error.

T'm trying to recovery a Sattelite laptop L675D (part no. PSK3JU-03L02D) for a friend. There was no recovery partion on the machine and it was out of warrenty, so I purchased the recovery media ($29.95). I started the process and it read the 3 CDs and then started the process of creating the partitions, but 45% into the "creating CRC files" it failed with error code  10-FA12-045D.
A call to Toshiba support told me to remove battery and AC for 15 minutes and try again.  Same result so another call to support.  They did not tell me what the code indicated, but checked that I could enter the recovery process via the hard drive without the CDs. They said they could get the machine running without sending new disks.  They charged $49,95 since the machine was out of warranty.  I asked that if they were unsuccessful at resolving the issue, would the charge be refunded and the support person said "yes".  We then attempted the recovery from the hard drive. (I thought this was useless since the media created the recovery partition and I would probably get the same error, but I went along...)
After 30 minutes, I got the exact same error (10-FA12-045D) that I had got on previous recovery attempts at the same point in the process.  The new support person said that the message indicated missing drivers and they would need to send new media.  He checked with his supervisor and said the $49,95 was non-refundable.  NOT A VERY SATISFACTORY EXPERIENCE.
I am now waiting for the next recovery media to arive.

    Hi
If possible, turn on power, press F10 to enter BIOS mode, and run Memory Test and Hard Drive Test if any test fails you need to replace the part. Please note you need to be sure which part has failed and replace that part only then the unit will work fine. As per my understanding error code 303 is Hard drive failure.
Let us know how it goes!

  • T410i Creating Recovery Media Error code rc=31

    Hi,
A few months back my thinkpad started to overheat and turn off abruptly and then recently it started crashing without any reasons and sometimes won't start immediately, have to wait for some hours to start it again.
So I want to reinstall the factory setting and I'm trying to create a recovery CD for T410i series. I'm using Windows 7
The steps are ok till the boot media is completed and then after that it asks to insert a new CD to create media recovery.
After inserting new CD it gives error message "An unexpected error has occurred (rc=31)".
I've tried again and again with other cd's, starting from scratch creating a boot media and then go to the next step, same error, tried to continue by changing cd's but it doesn't work.
What should I do? How to fix and create the full recovery cd's?

  • Nb205 recovery media

Does anyone have a disk image of the recovery media for a nb205?  I didn't make one before installing Ubuntu and damaged sections of my MBR.  Toshiba does not have them available online.
    Thanks,
    Zach

Re my NB205-N325BL with OEM Windows7 (32 bit, Starter)
If I understand your comments and the User Guide, pressing "0" key will return the system to its original ("just out of the box") status using the information in the Recovery Partition on the hard drive.
A couple of questions, if I may:
(info) The original disk configuration had another partition "behind" my C: drive. Using the windows disk mgmt tools - "shrinking" C: and then "stretching", I think it was called,  I have expanded that partition, the trailing partition, to use all of the area vacated by the shrink. Current configuration is: "c:" about 100 GB and the trailing partition about 50 GB.
    (Questions)
1.Any Idea how use of the disk-embedded recovery would be manifest given the above changes?
If it is an "image" type recovery, it wants to re-write what was, where it was, correct? I dont know if in the shrinking process some of the OEM software was originally occupying some of the "shrunk" disk space, and thus "moved" to accommodate the shrink, or whether it was simply empty space.
Depending on that situation, it may be advisable for me to "rebuild" that HDD recovery partition, so as to reflect the "new" configuration. IS THAT POSSIBLE? I can see the recovery partition using disk management, at it reports as "healthy", by windows.
    2. What does the "Recovery Media Creator" bring to the party, except to perhaps act as a separate physical backup of that Recovery Partition? Will it include all the additions and configuration changes that I have made? (like user accounts and each of their files, etc.)
Any Ideas why that tool gives me a "NO RECOVERY PARTITION"? The Windows backup tools also fail (image and/or standard backup), but the "Repair Disk" creation process seemed to write to a DVD on the Toshiba "portable SuperMulti Drive" that I bought with my system. So at least I've got that going for me.
    3. Not on the topic of recovery, except that it only seems to be "recovered" by a system restart, but; Any Ideas why the Fn-Fx (Function-Fx key combinations) just seem to arbitrarily quit working from time to time? Or more appropriately, Anything you might suggest that I can try to restart them when they seem to quit? I like to use the Fn-F3 to "sleep" the system, not that going to the start menu is such a bother, but it can be disconcerting when they quit.
This was very disconcerting when I used them once to disable the touchpad (as commented in the users guide) for "easy typing". Only after SEVERAL restarts and full shutdown/start cycles did the touchpad start working again...
Lets just say I don't do THAT anymore!
    Thanks and regards

  • Creating recovery media error

    Hi,
Happy owner of a t530 system. Unfortunately did the old mistake: upon starting to use the laptop i had not create recovery media. After recovery every thing worked fine system is up with q and s partitions. Recently i decided to install an msata sdd drive to migrate the os there. Byut before the process i remembered to make recovery media. Started the thinkvantage create recovery media. However it allows to make boot media only but not both boot and data media. Checked partiton q and there 12 or something individual swim file. Googled for help but non was successful. Any idea? Thanks

i am loathe to buy discs just to have the same problem with them too!

Try please to create recovery DVD. Few empty discs are not expensive. If the same problem happen again I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and explain the situation. It is not your fault and maybe you will get new recovery disc for free.
Just dont delete anything on the HDD.

  • Error message when trying to create Recovery Media Creation

I have a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC 15-n235sa and when trying to create my Recovery Media Creation on a 32GB Flash drive it comes up with the error mesage We are experiencing errors in recovering media creation. Please try again.
This is after.46% of Verify Disk section. So it is almost there.
I have tried 4 or 5 times with the same result.
    Help!

Please try another USB Flash Drive or DVDs. USB Flash Drives indicating Windows 8 compatibility may not work for creating the recovery image. If you are still unable to create your HP Recovery Media, please contact official HP support in your region / country, via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer. When you request this media, indicate that it is free because the HP Recovery Manager failed to work properly.

  • Create Recovery Media low disk space on C error

    Hey everyone,
When I tried to create a recovery disc on my X301 Windows 7 to free up the partition, I got an error saying "No enough temporary disk space in C drive, Create Recovery Media will exit now." How much space do I need to free up on my C drive? I only have about 7.5 gb free on my 64gb SSD.
    Thanks for your help!

You'll want at least 10 GB free before doing anything.  As is, you can look at your recovery partition to see exactly how much you'll need, but Windows will always block off extra for some reason.

  • Error in recovery media creation

I bought  a new HP laptop recently. Its a HP PAVILION G6 2320TX.I ran the Recovery Media  Creation .After the initial setup and burning of files onto my first dvd, when it comes to verify, i am getting an error that states "We are experiencing errors in recovery media creation. Please try again.” ,and the disk ejects out.
I use SONY DVD-R media so,i guess there shouldn't be any problem with the brand.I tried doing this a couple of time and each time i got the same error.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Akash.

    Hello Akash_Sanu,
I see that you are having problems with the recovery discs creation on your computer.
I would suggest trying a different brand of disc, here is a link that explains the recovery discs process. If you continue to have problems with the disc creation I would suggest contacting HP support for a set of recovery discs.
Here is a link to the contact options for HP support.

  • Error code when running my recovery media

when i go to install my recovery media for my toshiba A215-s5808 have way through i get this message =error 10-fc12-0570  can someone please help me figure out what this is????

I'll assume you need to create a bootable USB drive. Remove any data from the drive BEFORE proceeding. Insert the drive into a booted Win7 machine. Open a command prompt with "...as Administrator". Now type:
    diskpart   <ENTER>
At the "diskpart" command prompt type:
    lis dis   <ENTER>
Most likely you will see two drives, "0" and "1". Look at the size of these drives and most likely "1" will be the USB.
    sel dis 1  <ENTER>
    sel par 1  <ENTER>
det par   <ENTER>   This should show you details about the USB drive. BE SURE THIS IS THE USB DRIVE BEFORE YOU GO ANY FARTHER.  ONLY if this is the USB drive then:
act  <ENTER>  This will make the USB partiton "active" if it wasn't already. Now type:
det par  <ENTER>  The drive should show as active now if it wasn't already.
exit <ENTER>  This will exit out of the diskpart utility back to the command box.
Now all you need to do is copy all the files from your temporary directory to the root USB drive. Open up your temporary folder, select all the files, copy, then paste to the root of the USB drive. Once it's done all you need to do is edit one file on the USB drive. Open up "DATA.INI". "Set CDNUM=1" and "CDMAX=1" if they are not already. That's it. You should be able to boot from this and it should work just like the optical media, only no prompting to switch media since all the "...\ZZIMAGES\ZZIMAGES\" files should be in one place now.

  • Error Message 040EAE-5D-0000000 when trying to create recovery media creator

I need to create a recovery backup, and have a 20 G brand-new Verbatim thumb drive for it.  When I go to try to create a backup on the thumb drive, the first error message was a general one.  Started over, and then got the error code  040EAE-5D-0000000.  I can't find anything on this error code after searching the forum, and on Google.  I need to create a backup on the thumb drive, but I just can't seem to get this to work.  Help, please.

Things got worse.  In doing research, it appeared that a driver might have been the issue.  So I went to the Toshiba site to look at drivers for my laptop.  There were a number listed.  I installed several system updates, and now my laptop won't boot windows.  The following is the startup repair error message I'm now getting:
    Problem Event Name:  StartupRepairOffline
    Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
    Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
    Problem Signature 03:  unknown
    Problem Signature 04: 21200529
    Problem Signature 05: AutoFailover
    Problem Signature 06: 7
    Problem Signature 07: Bad driver
    OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
    Locale ID: 1033
I really don't want to put this thing in a box and ship it to Toshiba.  I need to back out the drivers that were installed.  But I need to get Win 7 to boot to do so.  It would have been great if I had been able to create the system recovery media that I was trying to create in the first place.

  • Portg Z30-A-182 - Recovery Media Creator Error

    Hi,
I have a brand new Portg Z30-A-182, have installed my office and virusscan and now want to create a set of Recovery DVD's using Recovery Media Creator.
    I use a Samsun external DVD-writer and DVD+RW disc's.
I keep getting the error 0E01BA-49-00000000 when the software wants to start writing to the DVD.
I searched the internet and this seems an error which occurs frequently and does not get solved using other type of discs.
How do I solve this error ?
I saw that I can BUY a set of recovery discs with Toshiba online, but that can not be the purpose with a brand new pc ???

Can you plese test functionality when you try to create recovery USB stick?
I have machine without ODD too and I have created recovery USB. It is for me more komfortable than using DVDs.
By the way: in the past i have created recovery DVDs using DVD-R medias only.
