NBA Finals in germany....

Well, I'm living in Germany where you can't watch any NBA games in the non-pay-tv. And as you can download the whole finals in the U.S. iTunes Music Store, I wondered if there is any possibility that I can also download them?

Only way you can download them off the US store is to create a new ID, give it a USA adress and/or provide a US instated Credit Card. You can by pass the CC if you can get ahold of a US music gift card.

Need advice about how to set up a NBA finals spreadsheet.

Hi everyone,
Some friends and I are playing a version of the Over/Under game during the NBA finals. My wife, being the geek she is, set up our score sheet in Numbers. Here's a screen shot of it:
What we're looking for is a more elegant way to set this up. M D and V are the first names of the folks participating in the game. The colored cells indicated that those predictions were correct. What we'd like is a way to automate the counting to determine the winner (and perhaps report first, second, third place, etc.)... and a way to make the whole thing easier to understand at first glance.
Any suggestions?

Hi Macademic,
Your question is about how to do something using Numbers. As a 'technique' question, it's appropriate to the forum. Good thing, as you'd have some difficulty deleting your post.
The main difficulty I see is that with the positioning of the data, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to determine which bits Numbers should count as 'wins'.
Here's a possible solution. Details under the graphic.
Data table (on left)
Column A: Descriptions. This is a sampling of your list, some repeated to show different entries for "Yes" and "Results".
B: "Yes": This contains the numerical criteria to be met or exceeded to make a "Yes" answer correct.
C, D, E: Columns for each player (identified in Row 1) to enter their guesses. Checked means "Yes", unchecked means "No"
Formula in the Footer row: =Evaluation::B Returns the value in the footer row of column B of the Evaluation table.
F: "Results": Results should be entered as numbers. See below
Evaluation Table
A: Formula: =IF(ISBLANK(Data::B),"",Data::F>=Data::B)
checks if an entry has been made in the "Yes" column.
If not, the formula returns the empty string ( "" ), if so, the formula returns the result of a comparison of the values in "Yes" and "Results"; TRUE if "Result" is equal to or greater than "Yes", FALSE if it's not.
This column shows the choice (TRUE=checked, FALSE=unchecked) that will be evaluated as 'Correct' in the three checkbox columns.
Note the warning triangle in A2 due to comparing the number (1) in "Yes" to the text string ("!!!!") in "Results". Any text is greater than any number, but comparing 'apples to oranges' this way will display a warning. Avoid the warning by using only numbers in "Results" (and "Yes").
Also note the error triangles in Row 7. These result from 24:00 entered into the "Yes" column being interpreted as a duration, and the smaller 15:53 entered in "Results" being interpreted as a time (of day). (Originally 3:53 PM—I must have re-entered it as 3:53 at some point.) The error triangle in B7 is due to the formula there (and in C7 and D7) referencing A7 in its calculations. I removed the formula from C7 and D7 to allow the formulas in the Footer Row to show a result,
The next two lines show workarounds to avoid the error messages.
In Row 8, "Yes" and "Results" have only the number of full minutes entered, and that value entered as a plain number.
n Row 9 the two cells have been formatted to contain Durations, and to show them as minutes and seconds, separated by a colon.
B, C, D: Formula =IF(Data::C=$A,1,0)
In English, If the guess is correct, 1 point, if not, 0 points.
Footer row formula: =SUM(B)
Conditional formatting is used to change the Fill colour for correct guesses.
The rule shown is for the selected cell, E10. The same rule is used for C10 and D10. For other rows, the cell reference A10 must be changed to match the row being formatted (ie. in C8, the reference would be to A8).

Im having problems using NBA GAMETIME - League Pass streaming on WIFi

It works on 3G but not on WiFi! Please help! its says it can't locate my location but i have it to ALLOW MY LOCATION on the settings...

I'm glad I read this...I was just about to jet to my nearby bestbuy to pick up an ATV2 for nba league pass broadband.
Not surprised at all. I have subscribed to NBA LP Broadband for the past two years and have always been disappointed in its poor implementation of delivering its content. The worst is to check into a game right after it's live feed has ended, and to be greeted by the "this game will be available for replay soon" message. This lack of "transparency" in the way content is delivered runs across the board in their poorly conceived UI interface, the cludgy log-in process (through a series of webpages), and the poor poor customer support.
They really don't care. There are no competitors, there is no pressure to improve it. Content-delivery for NBA games, and probably all professional sports, is seriously seriously broken. The only reason to own cable/satellite for me, is to watch the NBA, but it's such a waste. And if you just decide to go with the NBA LP Broadband, you miss out on all the marquee games only available on ESPN and TNT (and now NBA TV) throughout the season. And then when the playoffs roll around, you're screwed, because you can only watch the playoffs on cable/satellite.
The only moment of grace, is to watch over-the-air HD feeds of the NBA Finals, which is FREE.
I'm curious to see if Apple and the NBA can get NBA LPB working on the ATV2, but I wouldn't hold your breath. The fault probably most likely falls on the NBA's end, not Apple's, past subscribers of NBA LPB, like me, know.

NBA League Pass Restricted to Team Pass

I bought NBA League Pass through Apple TV using my iTunes account. But when I go to the NBA app it shows my account as Team Pass with restrictions on only watching 1 team's games.
I logged into NBA TV on my desktop and my account is definitely 'League Pass'. It also works as League Pass on my iPhone and iPad. Just not on Apple TV where I bought it from and where I want to use it.
NBA TV support has been so-so. With the best solution so far being: "have you tried turning it off and on again".
Has anyone else experienced this bug and resolved it?

NBA Playoff Coverage

The NBA playoffs have started with 2 or 3 games games every day, however there are 4 games on this week (22nd to 29th April) from a possible 28. While the beginning of the Baseball season is showing at least 9 games during the same period, none of which have any real meaning at this stage of a 162 game season. Whereas every nba game at this time actually matters and has a bearing.
Safe to say BT Sports NBA playoff coverage is a joke!

The agreement will see up to 200 games throughout the season, appearing across BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN. There will be up to seven live games per week throughout the regular season and the first and second rounds of the NBA Playoffs, as well as every game of the Conference Finals, culminating in the NBA Finals in June

Yes they do appear to be a few games short of their maximum coverage for the first week of the playoffs - I suspect that might in part be due to the schedules for the playoff games being finalised after BT had commited to showing other programmes.

Windows 8.1 update and brightness control

I have a DELL XPS L521X with Windows 8.1 (I had windows 8 some days ago) and I have had two problems:
1) I did not allow Windows to upgrade to 8.1 and it forced me to do it. It gave me 15 minutes to save progress and do it. I was watching the NBA finals on my computer and it was the only thing I had to watch the game. The installation lasted the whole second
half the game and I WAS NOT ABLE TO WATCH IT DUE TO THIS, YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW I AM FEELING ABOUT NOT USING WINDOWS EVER AGAIN... How can I prevent it from ever upgrading anything without my consent? I had already turned off updates from Control Panel\System
and Security\Windows Update but it didn't help.
2) My brightness control became broken after the 8.1 update. I had to manually pick the older Intel HD 4000 driver to have it working again or else my eyes would stop functioning after such a bright display. I had to switch to the 9.17 driver version from
September 2012. Where can I get the lastest WORKING version of the driver?
Please stop making me loose days fixing Windows issues...

FIOS 3D Content and Information

FIOS is lagging way behind DireceTV and Comcast with regards to 3D content. What's even worse is the lack of information available to the consumer and FIOS's in-house knowledge of content or any resemblance of a plan for 3D.
First off, how about a web page with centralized information? Compare having to search through Verizon support blogs to other providers like DirecTV & Comcast (sorry, the blog wouldn't let me post links to those sites) organization and control of their 3D content...
Another idea, how about being able to sign up for email alerts about 3D programming and events? The Oregon/Cal 3D broadcast and PPV replay were poorly marketed. Further, how could you do a regular season college football game and not have the BCS Championship game televised in 3D? Also, what about the SuperBowl and live 3d content. Yes, the PPV selections (current about 15 or so along with another handful of HBO 3D offerings) are getting better, but how about live content (ESPN 3D, Discovery 3d, etc)???

ESPN 3d has been on FIOS since April 5th. Most of the time in runs thru constant repeats of some older events. Occassionally a major new event is covered. The Masters and the NBA Finals for example.
3Net was suppose to be planned to be added sometime, but FIOS hasn't mentioned it recently.
In addition to the HBO 3d VOD mentioned Starz 3d VOD is available.
They following were the Free (to subscribers) 3d offerings as of a few days ago. Sorry Avatar fans, it was in 3D on HBO a few months ago but is now gone.

Sync Apple TV 2

I have a WIndows 7 PC and it doesn't seem to recognize my apple tv2 in my itunes. Its not under devices. I have a macbook pro 4.1 with OSX 5.8 and it recognizes under devices but does not sync. We recently bought NBA finals from apple tv2 and cant find the games we bought. We have been charged for these games we just bought, but it appears to be lost somewhere in the icloud. Please advise.

The Apple TV does not appear under devices, it was the Apple TV 1 that did that.

Since you cannot start up from the install DVD, and since your system is (I assume) still under warranty, I would call Applecare - they have trained diagnostic people. If it is a warranty issue, there will be no charge if you are within the one year hardware warranty term.

interMedia has been used for much larger image databases than this, I think there is a whitepaper that discusses a database that holds check and other financial images.
Sizing the application, and CBIR sizing is something that I am not expert at. Of course, since it can be an DB index, it is much quicker than scanning each image in teh DB.

OP, I feel your pain and can relate all too well. Unfortunately, at least in my area, this seems to be the norm with FiOS. In addition, billing problems are so abundant that I could probably write a novel about them, including the two Better Business Bureau complaints that I filed against Verizon for charging me for equipment and services that I never requested nor received!! The best by far was when Verizon kept insisting that I needed to pay for a tech to visit my house to retrieve the second M-card they "had" to install in my TiVo HD. I told the tech probably 10 times while he was at my house originally that only one M-card was needed because that's the whole point of a M-card! Despite this, he insisted on installing two. He left, I removed the second and unnecessary M-card, called Verizon to return the card and that's when they told me there were going to charge me for a service call (I think $75!) to pick up the extra card that I was returning. I literally had to fight with them to get them to let me ship back the extra card rather than having to pay for a tech to pick it up. Don't even get me started on how I had to pay for shipping and then how Verizon continued to charge me for the second card for no less than 6 months after I had confirmation that the extra card was delivered to Verizon.
Depsite all this, I would NEVER go back to Comcast!!!!!
