NCS not re-discovering WLC
NCS 1.1.1.24 (PRIME-NCS-VAPL)
5508-50 WLC 7.0.235.3
I had to re-IP this WLC onto another management vlan. Prior to the IP change and code upgrade I removed the WLC from NCS.
When attempting to re-add the WLC to NCS, I finally found the it in Configure>Unknown Devices. Now NCS is showing the Device Type as Unknown, and Inventory Status Detail as Unsupported device, and reachable.
What am I missing???
Thanks!
Yeah... I dot know why it's like that but removing the WLC and adding it back using snmp v2 or v3 fixes the issue but then I have some WLC using v2 and others using v3:)

LAP cannot discover WLC after static IP set
I have an 1131 LAP that I originally configured with DHCP and it found the WLC fine. Then I forced the LAP to a static address from the WLC manager. Upon rebooting the LAP it could not find the WLC since it no longer uses DHCP and for some reason it did not retain the WLC IP address in its config. (WLC is on remote subnet and I see LAP sending broadcast to local subnet only in sniffer) 1) How can I reset the LAP to use DHCP - is there a reset button on it? 2) is there some way to have a LAP falback to DHCP discover if the IP is set static?
Hi Armonk,
Have you tried this method?
Clearing Manually Entered Controller Information
When you move your access point to a different location in your network, you must clear the manually entered controller information to allow your access point to associate with a different controller.
Note This command requires the controller configured Enable password to enter the CLI EXEC mode.
To clear or remove the manually entered controller information, you can use these EXEC mode CLI commands:
clear lwapp ap ip address
clear lwapp ip default-gateway
clear lwapp controller ip address
clear lwapp ap hostname
Manually Resetting the Access Point to Defaults
You can manually reset your access point to default settings using this EXEC mode CLI command:
Note This command requires the controller configured Enable password to enter the CLI EXEC mode.
clear lwapp private-config

Capped zones not getting discovered automatically after global zone discovr
On solaris 10.
We have global zones with capped and uncapped zones.
Zones which are uncapped getting discovered under global zone.
But zones which are capped are not getting discovered.
As per all documents:http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27363_01/doc.121/e27511/ftr_zones_mgmt.htm
All the non-global zones in the selected global zone are automatically discovered
Edited by: vtadmin on Aug 25, 2012 9:46 PMThe most common reason this usually occurs is because the of the shared memory issue with the Sun MC database. Looks like this issue has been passed on to 4.0. Please try doing the following:
When installing a Server in a whole-root Zone, edit /etc/project to set the shared memory setting first.
Change the "default:3:::" entry to look like this:
default:3::::project.max-shm-memory=(privileged,1073741824,deny)
...where 1073741824 indicates a 1GB setting (you may tune it lower). For more details, go here:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5418/6n7gk6ilo?a=view
Mostly this is a problem in whole root zones, but sometimes also applies to the global zones. -

It seems you need to add a mac filter for this AP on you WLC so it joins.
Or, if you are using external radius for authorization, you need to add an entery for this AP on the radius server.

WLAN override option not available for WLC 4402 - 6.0.196.
Hi All,
Its kind of weird BUT it seems that the option for WLAN override is missing.u.
I could find it on the lower version BUT not on the 6.0.196.
Please help.
Does this mean I could only set it up via the WCS and not the WLC directly.
Thank you.
Warmest Regards,
Azzafir Ariff Patel.Hi Scott,

Exchange 2010 MP - CAS servers not beeing discovered
Hi!
I have 2 CAS-servers that are not beeing discovered. Trigger on Demand discovery against these servers fails. Is there a way I can manually force these servers to this role?
Best regards
Rune HaugenHi,
Have you checked the option "Allow this agent to act as a proxy and discover managed objects on other computers" for all your Exchange servers?
Please also try to flush health service state and caches for the CAS servers.

FlexConnect Local Auth. Usernames not showing in WLC/NCS
Hi,
I am working on a new install where the customer is using local RADIUS servers at each of their many campuses
(for local dynamic VLAN assignment), while using a single set of controllers at the core of their network.
For the record, we have set up a pair of 5508s (v 7.2.103.0) in their central data center with 3602i APs around the various campuses. We are using FlexConnect groups to locally authenticate and switch the users.
Right now, the config is working great as far as authentication and local switching goes. The problem we are experiencing is that none of the authenticated usernames are being passed back to the controller (and ultimately NCS). This makes the tracking and troubleshooting of users difficult. Is there something I am missing here? I can't seem to find any fixes relevant to this issue in the 7.2.110.0 release notes.
Maybe I am going about this wrong. I am very open to alternative solutions.
Thanks. After discussing this issue with local Cisco folks, TAC and colleagues, it seems that locally authenticated user names are not passed to the controller (or NCS). It's not a bug, it's just the way it is.
If you want the AP to authenticate and locally switch users while communication to the controller is down (i.e. loss of WAN link), no usernames are sent to the controller for logging or troubleshooting... even when AP to WLC communication is working fine. It's a trade-off of information (usernames) for uptime.
If any Cisco wireless development folks are browsing, consider this a 'feature' I would like to see. Thanks. -
NCS 1.1.3.2 not compatible with WLC Code 7.6 ?
Hello,
i have updatet my WLC 2504 Controllers. I want to applie a new wlan template. But I get only the error message:
"Reason: SNMP operation to Device failed: "
The SNMP Reason is empty....(See attachment)
I work with "Cisco Prime Network Control System". Is this out of date?
I have seen the Version of "Cisco Prime Infrastructe" is newer from date?
Can anyone help me?Unfortunately, there is no update for the PI 2.1? The month is already around. Any news on this?
On the Cisco Wireless Solutions Software Compatibility Matrix show that PI 2.1 is not compatible with 7.6.x.x ? -

i searched for the regulatory domains difference between AIR-LAP1041N-E-K9 and AIR-LAP1041N-A-K9 and didn't find any difference that may affect the operation of this AP.
just to mention that our configuration in WLC for regulatory domains is:
Configured Country Code(s) AR
Regulatory Domain 802.11a: -A
802.11bg: -A
My question is, should i only include my country in the WLC (IQ) to add the requlatry domain (-E) to solve this problem? or changing the country will affect the operation of all working APs??
Appreciate your kind support,
Wisam Q.Hi Ramon,
thank you for the reply but as shown in the below link:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7.0.html#wp233793
the WLC in version 7.0.116.0 supports Cisco 1040 seiries APs.
Thanks,

Cisco APs not updating after WLC-update
Hello everyone,
I need to update my 5508 WLCs to a newer software, to support new AP-models.
Started with AIR-CT5500-K9-1-7-0-0-FUS.aes and AIR-CT5500-K9-7-0-240-0.aes, everything worked fine. Pre-Downloaded the newer Image to the APs, restarted the WLCs and everything was ok.
Now I tried to update to 7.6.100.0 as well as 7.4.121.0. Both Versions should support my APs, but it doesn't work at all.
Any ideas are highly appreciated.
If you need further output, just let me know.
Regards,
Manuel

Nachricht geändert durch Manuel SporlederHi Scott,
I am not trying to pre-download it anymore, since this doesn't work at all.
If I just restart the controller, the APs are downloading the image telling me "everything is fine", are rebooted and that stated with the old image again.
This is what you can see in the attached log-file:

Can anyone tell me, is there any issue between the AP & WLC IOS compatibility or what else could be reason for this.Hi Thanks for everyone's comments,
I found solution, I i was extracting only one file from the tar image and supporting files were not extracted to flash
Now I did " “archive tar /xtract tftp://<TFTP server IP>/<ImageName>.tar flash: “ and extracted complete tar in to the flash and changed boot priority. Now it is joining to controller
Thank you -
Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v Servers not being discovered by the mp
Sorry if this is a dup question. I did see the one for 2008 but that didn't fix my issue.
I have 4 hyper-v servers running server 2012 r2 in a cluster. I have scom 2012 r2 and it detects the cluster and 3 out of the 4 hyper-v servers. the 4th server it can see under windows but does not discover the hyper-v components.
Any assistance would be appreciated.Hi,
You can install the Agent on the server manually to check the result.
