NCS reports email as zip files

I recently migrated from WCS to NCS and since the migration all the reports are being sent inside a zip file.  I remember having this issue when I first installed WCS many years ago, however I am unsure what was done to correct it.  I have checked the Administration section of NCS to try and find the setting but no luck or within the Report Launch pad on any of the migrated reports or the new reports.
I don't want them sent as zip files but as either native CSV or PDF as specified within the appropriate report.  The reports are never that big to need compressing into a zip plus the mail server they send through will accept up to 20-25MB attachments which is much greater than the native size of any of the reports generated through NCS or WCS.

I agree, I email quite a few csv reports and the file size is typically under 1k. It is strange they don't making the zip file an option instead of doing it mandantory with every e-mail. I find it very cumbersome when dealing with 10 - 12 reports and having to unzip every file first.

  • Download report as compressed/zip file

    Hi,
    i was wondering if it is possible to download a report compresed/(zip file). Some reports are more then 10MB and it's sometimes timeconsuming to download it to you local machine via a slow internet connection. If this is possible.. Is it then also possible to create an Ibot to sent a zipped report to mail :)
    regards,
    Osman

    I don't think you can compress a file or zip it and then download it. But you can schedule an ibot to download the file to a local drive using javascripts at night when no one is around and it doesn't matter how long it takes. Then, if you need to email them out, you can zip them there and email them. Here are some links that will help you with the javascripting:

  • Where is the Crystal Reports formula reference zip file?

    I am just getting started in Crystal Reports and I have seen a reference to cr8_formularef.zip. This file is supposedly contains all the functions and operators in Crystal Reports. But, when I do a search for it here, all I get is a reference in the Crystal reports for Visual Studio 2005, which then tells me to go search for this file at Business Objects web site!
    Ok, where is this file? I want to download it. Thank you

    If you go to http://help.sap.com/content/bobj/bobj/index.htm, you can download the CR 10 User's Guide/Online Help at http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/ce10/en/cr10_UserGde_en.zip - that should be compatible with VS2005.

    I've been emailed a zip file with the extension .docx. I can't open this. When I click on it to unzip it, it turns into another zip file with the extension .cpgz. I've Stuffit Deluxe 8.0 on my Powermac G5.

  • Corrupt ZIP files in Prod 11.1.2.1 - Workspace

    Hello all,
    This one has me and Oracle Support stumped.
    Only Prod is exhibiting the following issue...
    When exporting reports to a ZIP file, the file becomes corrupt, and gives an error when extracting with Windows. But what actually happens is that a file with the same name and NO extension (i.e. REPORTS) is in the REPORTS.ZIP file. This is what is causing the zip file to corrupt.
    The workaround is to extract the file using 7-ZIP, rename the REPORTS file to REPORTS1.ZIP, save it, then unzip the REPORTS1.ZIP file.
    This REPORTS1.ZIP has the reports that were zipped initially in Workspace.
    Any ideas what may be causing this? No other environment has this issue.
    Thanks in advance!!

    ZIP file seems to be corrupted. You must repair the file first. Do repair the file by using WinRAR program.
    Open WinRAR *>* open ZIP file *>* go to Tools *>* select Repair archive *>* Browse the path *>* check the box Treat the corrupt archive as ZIP *>* click on OK *>* wait for a while once the selected file is repaired *>* click on Close.
    Or if this solution fails to repair the file, then you must take help of third-party ZIP recovery software. A wide range of ZIP recovery software are available on the internet. Check few of them. You can use their demo version first. I can recommend you SysInfoTools ZIP Recovery software. You must try its free demo version before buying any other ZIP recovery software.

    my requirement is to run a report then the result will be sent to email. Attachment is an excel file that is zipped since file size is about 25MB
    I've search several forums and found a sap template in sending email with excel file attachment, it is BCS_EXAMPLE_7
    but it should be zipped, what i found is this CL_ABAP_ZIP, but with my understanding, the file needs to be in PDF format to be able to zip
    has anyone had the same requirement before?
    Would be thankful to your input guys, thanks!

    any ideas guys?

  • Need .ZIP file as an attachment in email

    Hi,
    I have developed a report which converts the ALV grid into a PDF and into .ZIP file. Finally ZIP file gets downloaded using GUI_download.
    My client wants the .ZIP file as a mail attachment but not as a download.
    Here is my final bit of code.
      CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
        EXPORTING
          buffer        = zip_file
        IMPORTING
          output_length = bcot1
        TABLES
          binary_tab    = file.
        CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'
        EXPORTING
          bin_filesize = bcot1
          filename     = file_path
          filetype     = 'BIN'
        TABLES
          data_tab     = file.
    How to replace the Download with email? I tried using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 but I am not getting email. I also check in SOST for my transmission request but I ma not able to find my request.

  • Send report output via email as zipped attachment

    Is it possible for the report output to be zipped before being attached to an email when running on a windows reports_server? On unix we theoretically have the ability to modify the mail.sh shell script that performs the mail operation for reports.

    Hi Richard
    This is a Reports 9i solution.
    You may create a batch file that runs the report, compresses the file and invokes, say, a Java application that mails the given .zip file.
    More "advanced" options would be:
    You may create a pluggable destination that captures report output. Next, your code does the compresses the output file and mails it.
    A simpler solution would be to run two reports. First, that creates the reports output file. In its AFTER_REPORT trigger, call Java method (thru. Java Importer), that picks up the output file and compresses it. Second, that uses XML distribution feature of Reports 9i and mails the .zip file as a file attachment using appropriate construct.

    Hello Daniel,
    Thank you very much for this post, it is quite helpful. However, I have followed your template very closely and my file will not send. I am not an advaned ABAP programmer, but have a good knowledge of programming in general...here's a bit of my code related to this...
    *-Create table body
      LOOP AT (internal table) INTO (structure)
      (Fill lv_line with one line of string based on structure)
        CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_STRING_TO_XSTRING'

          IMPORTING
            buffer = lv_xline
        CONCATENATE lv_xcontent lv_xline INTO lv_xcontent IN BYTE MODE.
      ENDLOOP.
    *-Create zip xstring
      CREATE OBJECT lo_zipper.
      CALL METHOD lo_zipper->add

    *-Convert zip xstring to binary
      CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
        EXPORTING
          buffer = lv_xzipcontent
        TABLES
          binary_tab = lt_data.
    *-    Add attachment
          TRY.
            CALL METHOD l_document->add_attachment
                EXPORTING
                  i_attachment_type = 'ZIP'
                  i_attachment_subject = 'Report'
                  i_att_content_hex = lt_data.
            CATCH cx_document_bcs.
          ENDTRY.
    Any help would be very much appreciated, ty.

  • Information Broadcaster- Fales to send ZIP files reports.

    Hi everybody,
    I schedualed a total of 60 daily sales reports to be sent as ZIP files to varius addresses. the problem is that every day a few of them (1-8) are received but without the ZIP file report and attached to the mail is a txt file with the following message:
    "Symantec Mail Security replaced ZSD_SALES_WS_DR_CAP_TM_VERSION.ZIP with this text message.  The original file was unscannable and was quarantined.
    ID:NODE02::SYQ7d88c154   "
    i don't what is the reason does anybody have a clue?!?!?

    I'm not suggesting there is anything wrong with the files. Symantec is examing the files and based on it's various examinations of the file, is indicating it can not/will not pass them along.  Again - this seems like an issue to pursue with whoever administers your email scanning software.  Don't believe this is a BW issue.
    Perhaps they can configure Symantec not to scan e-mail attachments from the BW server
