Ne 5th gen IPod getting msg "Itunes has detected an IPod in recovery mode"

I purchased a new IPOD - have a 3 gen one as well. The people at the store said I could use both the old one and the new one on the same PC. But when I plug the new one in I get the message "Itunes has dtected an IPod in recover mode"
I looked throught the discussions and saw where the IPod drive letter may need to be changed. The problem is the IPod is not in the list of external drives.
I have another PC where I copied the music to and it works there - but not on the PC where the old IPod was used on.
Any ideas?

Would a backup occur if I was downloading pictures to Picassa 3 ??? Did a real backup take place w/I-Tunes, at that same time ???   I don't remember if I saw that on the screen.  Three days later while trying to sync my iPHone,  I had a msg "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Concern:  Will I lose all my media and other data ?  Just hate to push the RESTORE & UPDATE button, only to find out I have LOST all that stuff.  My son says it should be backed up when I did the 4.3.2 of iPhone. Concerned a ton over this problem.
Thanks to anyone out there who might be able to help.  Would appreciate any ideas.
      PLS HELP

Syncing photos does NOT sync the phone; the camera is considered a separate device from the rest of the iPhone. You sync with iTunes, and should do it often enough so you don't cry if you lose all data on the phone.
At this point you have no choice; there is no way to NOT restore it. If the last backup is not corrupt it should restore the phone as of the time of the last backup.

Try and turn off iPad/iPod and proceed to step 3 of Recovery Mode.
    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

You have to restore the iPod, no ifs, ands, or buts...
After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod....

After I downloaded iOS7 and my iPhone turned off I keep getting this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I dont wanna lose some stuff from my iPhone.

During a normal install of iOS 7.0.6 this does not happen but something clearly went wrong in your installation.
To fix this, connect to iTunes and restore to Factory. Hopefully your iPad will be working again and you can restore your iCloud backup during Setup.

  • HT4061 When proforming the new iPhone update I received an error message-iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.  If I choose to restore will i get everthing back.  Like my photos et

When performing the new iPhone(IOS6) update I received an error message - iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.  You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.  Will I lose everything if it goes back to factory settings.  Right now my phone wont do anything.  It is just showing a cable, an arrow  and the iTunes logo.

    If you restore from backup.
You should have made sure that everything was on your computer bef ore updating anyway.  Did you fail to do that?
All pics taken with iphone should be imported to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera, most especially before any update/restore/etc.  Did you fail to do that?

  • "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes."

Went on a Vegas trip on Sept
    11th.  My iPad worked fine
before getting on the plane. In the hotel about 48hrs later I opened my iPad it
read the message: “iPad is disabled,
    connect to iTunes.”
To my knowledge myself, nor anyone else has tried to access my device or
entered the password incorrectly 3 or more times.
I started by updating my iTunes account on my computer to the latest version.
    Then multiple times I attempted
    the “Use recovery mode”
    steps.
    e.g.
    1. Turn off your device and leave it off.
    2. Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
    3. Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB
cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes
    screen.
I received the message on my computer saying “iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.”
I click the “Restore iPad” button.
During which time the progress bar on my computer’s iTunes
screen was moving very slowly and other times seemed like it wasn’t moving at
all. I would leave my two devices and attached by the cable and upon returning
I would find that the process would have ended before it had completed.
Initially I thought it was a connections issue because I was in remote
locations with slow internet servers. Since being home I have re-attempted the
process and have been able to fully complete the forced recovery but I will
    receive a message saying:
“The iPad could not be restored. The disk you are attempting to use is full.
Removing files and emptying the recycle bin will free up additional space.”
What recycle bin is the message referring to? Obviously I CANNOT access any
data on the iPad itself. Just for the **** of it, I did empty my computers
recycle bin and re-attempted the forced recovery process but as I suspected it
did nothing for the iPad and I still received the same message: “The iPad
could not be restored. The disk you are attempting to …”
    Please help

If it is Jailbroken then I am afraid you will get no help here.

  • HT201210 itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode.  You must restore iphone before it can be used with itunes.

itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode.  You must restore iphone before it can be used with itunes.
Has anyone been able to restore their iphone after updating on itunes?

Probably over 200 million people have been able to restore their phone after updating on iTunes. 400 million if you consider that many people have updated more than once.
Have you restored it as directed? I gather from the fact that you posted that you tried and something went wrong. If you post what you did and what went wrong, including the error message and error number, we can probably help get your phone running again.

  • TS2776 Itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode

When i updated Itunes and then updated to the latest Iphone update, I get the message that Itunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore to connect to Apple's Itunes.  I have uninstalled Itunes and all other recommended software in a the recommended order and reinstalled and I am still getting the same error message.  Not sure what else to do.

OK, so I have now plugged the phone into the laptop, and opened I-Tunes.  I tunes on my lap top says it has "detected a phone in restore mode" and the only option is to go back to original factory settings.
Nothing I press on the I-phone (a 4G) will move the icon, and I don't want to go back to original factory settins (do I?).  Seems as if that will remove all the apps.

  • HT4623 iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes

I downloaded the update because why not. I then turned my iPad on and get the iTunes logo and a lightning cable picture. I plugged the ipad into my computer and opened iTunes.
    The I got:
"iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes"
When I click restore it then says:
"Are you sure you want to restore the iPad "iPad" to its factory settings? All your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of the iPad software will be installed.
iTunes will verify the resotre with Apple. After this process is complete, you will have the option to restore your contacts, calendars, messages and other settings."
I don't want to lose my media. I was never told to make a back up, I was never told the update would be this difficult.
Can I just revert back to how it was before?

I downloaded the update because why not. I then turned my iPad on and get the iTunes logo and a lightning cable picture. I plugged the ipad into my computer and opened iTunes.
    Then I got:

I thought okay, I'll just erase everything then. I get error 3004 when I try to restore.
I've tried disabling my security software, updating iTunes, replacing my hosts file and using a third party software recovery tool. Nothing works. I never thought Apple would break my iPad with an update but they managed to.
    Any solutions?
    Thank you.

  • Message rcvd: iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.

I plugged my iPad into an electrical outlet to charge it. It asked if I wanted to update. I replied yes. Now all that shows up on the screen is the image of the end of a charge cord that plugs into the iPad and an iTunes icon. Thinking that meant I should plug into the computer, I did so and got the message: iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes. I have done the restore, but want to know why this occured.

There's no possible way anyone here could determine why this has happened to your own device as there could be one of of many possibilities.
