Near Line Storage

Hi Experts,
My question is regarding the near line storage archiving in SAP BI.
Ex : PBS is one vendor which provides Nearline storage with the help of sybase IQ.
Is there any NLS Provider which uses sequel server as the nearline storage.
can you please share your thoughts asap.

using the class 'CL_RSDA_INFOPROV_QUERY' I can read only data from online DB. Infact the report dumps when I set the parameter i_storage_selection = 'N'.

Near line storage and FCSvr

Our xraid is filling up quick, is there a cheap alternative to buying vtracks and stacking them for archiving footage near-line? We're eating up disc space at a furious rate. Is there a solution where we can take large amounts of clips and send them off to a separate system where they can be slowly retrieved if need be?

You can purchase cheaper External Disks (Like FW 800 Drives) and use FCSvr's built in Archive function after setting those up as archive devices.
That said, buying 10 external hard drives you may as well buy a VTrak.
If you want to archive to a tape based HSM via FCSvr, you're gonna spend a lot of money.
In a way, a Vtrak is cheaper in the long run.

NLS(Near Line Storage) Step by Step Implementation

Hi Experts,
Our current system has data in the info cubes which dates back to 10 years.
Business demands that they cant discard old data.
We have proposed archiving of data older than 7 years and NLS for data older than 3 years.
I guess archiving can be done by BW team with slight cost of disk storage.
I have gone through this road map for NLS given below, and noted that extra costs involved in purchasing the third party tools for NLS process.
Can anyone throw some light on the justification that we need tell the client for this cost, (is it just the query optimization)

1) I understand the importance of NLS, but if we implement NLS, the data will be stored in a third party location?
Correct me if I am wrong
If this is the scenario, then the clients might not agree to their data being stored elsewhere.
2) Is there any step by step guide for BW team to follow if we implement NLS or is it complete taken care by the third party vendors.

Near Line Storage Server

Hello,
We are in process of implementing NLS for our BW Application. The BW application is as follows:
SAP BW: NW 7.0 EhP1 SPS 15
OS : Win 2008
DB : MS SQL 2012
DB Size : 6 TB
I have gone through with NLS guide "SAP First Guidance - SAP-NLS Solution with Sybase IQ.pdf", I have doubts regarding Server requirement for NLS.
- Does NLS requires a separate Hardware similar to BWA ?
- Is there any specific Server configuration we need to take care to start this project ?
- Also, any specific requirement for Windows or Unix platform

NLS is one kind of interface which we use in the archiving process based on your requirement you can use any DB as external storage for data archiving purpose.
-Is there any specific Server configuration we need to take care to start this project ?
if you are BW consultant please pass this to your BASIS or ADMIN team because we are not suppose to do all this activity.
- Also, any specific requirement for Windows or Unix platform?
i think this is also BASIS or SAP people needs to address regarding the platform and all.

Is Near Line Storage (NLS) ONLY for BI archiving?

Is NLS also used for data archiving in other business modules?

Hi,
in the SAP context NLS is only for BI. (There are hardware solutions that also use the name NearLine Storage)
The reason is that SAP only offers the NLS interface for BI.
In ERP there is no standard NLS interface offered, probably because the access to the DB is hard coded in the transactions. In BI there is a central analytical engine, so here a central interface can be offered.
For ERP, CRM, etc. there are vendors that offer a similar functionality, allowing access to archived data either in the standard transactions or similar to standard transactions.

Is is still a not enough space problem? i think you have specified 1050m for users01.dbf file, your file system /sisdev04 has something like
1.5gb of free space. it failed because of lack of free space. may be you can reduce your datafile size or try to
create in another filesystem.

How do I Download form "Adobe on line storage" to elements 10?

I am having trouble downloading form "Adobe on line storage" to elements 10. I have lost about 2/3 of my pictures but I can see they are still "stored on line".

This is the same error as reported in Unformatted read/write of character arrays from July 2013.
Does this bug have a patch? Would a fix be available if we were to purchase a support contract?

The bug was fixed some time ago in the development version of the compiler. The bug has not been fixed in a patch because the bug has not been escalated. If a customer with a support contract escalates the bug, it will be fixed in a patch; otherwise, the fix will be made available with the next release of the compiler.

I registered them.
But I can't find an Intermediate Table which have to keep the List of References to the "organization" element because next select doesn't return any result:

You appear to hitting bug 5979468 which is fixed in 11g..
With the heavy usage of inheritance in your XML Schemas I would VERY STRONGLY recommend that you upgrade to 11g immediately...

HT4910 I have 2 lines and on 1 of the main phone I went to settings then storage & backup automatically it showed how much space i have which was not allot and it also showed the other line storage space. I click on manage storage and it used to show both

I was told that I have 14.9 gb of space on my phone when my total is 15gb. I was adviced to free storage and to click on settings and manage my storage by either purchase more or turning off or deleting some of the back ups. When I went in to settings then to icloud it usually would of showed me both phone storage memory and when I started going down my list and turning off some of the apps from back ups of certain app all of a sudden I couldnt no longer see my phone storage memory or my account name for that matter. Now I only see the other line username and storage space that the other phone has.
What can I do? I used to see the list of all the apps I have on icloud and now its empty and it tells me I have available 13.4 gb available.

I cannot find this 300GB "Backup" in the Finder, only in the Storage info when I check "About This Mac".
You are probably using Time Machine to backup your MacBook Pro, right? Then the additional 300 GB could be local Time Machine snapshots. Time Machine will write the hourly backups to the free space on your hard disk, if the backup drive is temporarily not connected. You do not see these local backups in the Finder, and MacOS will delete them, when you make a regular backup to Time Machine, or when you need the space for other data.

I have restarted my computer, but the information remains the same. How do I reclaim the use of the 300GB? Why is it showing up as "Backups" when it used to indicate "Photos"? Are my photos safe on the external drive?
You have tested the library on the external drive, and so your photos are save there.
The local TimeMachine snapshot probably now contains a backup of the moved library. Try, if connecting your Time Machine drive will reduce the size of your local Time Machine snapshots.

Weird Selection Problem - Mouse starts selecting everything when going near line numbers

In Dreamweaver CS6 Mac Code View, if I move the mouse near the line numbers it goes into some weird selection mode: It tries to select everything I move the mouse over.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens frequently enough to be very annoying.
How can I disable this?
I have looked through the options and cannot find anything. I have also searched on Google.
I have been using Dreamwaver's code view since Dreamweaver MX and have never come across this problem before.

I am very sure that slim was done. It didn't start it as a daemon, I only let it respawn on runlevel 5 (in inittab). After I went in 3 and closed it, It didn't respawn. I looked at the display and I looked at ps -ef | grep slim and waited ;-)
Anyways, seems like I was right: slim is simply not doing something.
Now I have i my slim.conf:

sessionstart_cmd /usr/bin/sessreg -a -l $DISPLAY %user

The :0.0 made with -l $DISPLAY and seemed common. You can do anything you like I guess. -a stands for "add" and -d for "delete". Usually you have a -w and -u option also, but in Arch the wtmp and utmp are in the standard location, so we don't need them.
The session*_cmd entries in slim.conf were inserted for exactly this purpose somewhere in the year 2005, referring to the bug-database of slim (http://developer.berlios.de/bugs/?group_id=2663)

If you don't have xdm installed, than you shouldn't need the "-x" part. This is basically only needed when you have more than one x-display controlled by a login manager, which slim can't do anyways. So it would be a nice and clean: /usr/bin/sessreg -a -l $DISPLAY %user (edited the above .conf)

AP1410s and near-line-of-site

Could anyone tell me if a pair of AP1410s will work if the remote antenna is obscured by trees? If so, what kind of signal loss should I expect? If not, can you point me to an alternative? The distance between APs will be about 3KM.

General wisdom says no, as you say trees that impies more than one. Bridges require a clear line of sight to operate reliabley. your proposed bridge may work in the winter when the trees are bare may even still work somewhat when they leaf out in the summer but will definatly have trouble when they are wet after a rain.
But only a site survey will tell you what will work and meet you requirements.

I want to know if I can use my iCould storage simply to back up files. If so, I have not been able to figure out how.

Currently, only Apple apps (Pages, Numbers, etc.) can back up
data to iCloud. There is no way to use it to just simply backup any files.
There are some workarounds to get some data stored.
PDFs and any other document that can be read by Preview
can be backed up in iCloud. Load the document into Preview,
select Export..., click on the directory dropdown, then select
iCloud as destination. Not a drag and drop solution or an
all encompassing method, but you can get some stuff saved.
