Nearly every single application I try to open, crashes straight away.

I am really quite worried now. I did something really stupid. I thought the Mac OS X install disc that came with my macbook was an updated version, so I tried to install Mac OS X with that disc, not realising my macbook already had an up to date version.
So midway through the installation,having just realised this, I restarted the computer, quitting the installation. After start up, I try to open Microsoft Messenger and an error message comes up saying "The application Microsoft Messenger quit unexpectedly" and when I try to relaunch it, the same thing happens. The application never actually starts up. The same happens with iChat, mail, iCal and a Last.fm application. Everything was fine before, I am worried I have somehow really messed things up.

Firefox is crashing every single time I try and open it

After using Firefox on my laptops for years proble free a few days ago it started crashing every single time I tried to open it,The web page opens for about one second then crashes and I get the crash report dialogue box this happens in safe mode as well. I do not have time to do any editing to my browser page as it crashes within a second. I have uninsalled and reinstalled Firefox 3.68 and have just downloaded the beta 4 to see if that might work but same problem.IE works fine and from there have tried to load dozens of websites on firefox as firefox is my default browser. Please re-install iTunes. Error 7. Windows error 126". I now can't sync my iPhoneand I am worried that if I re-install I will lose all my contacts,calendar, notes, etc.

I too had this problems (Windows 8.1). A few weeks ago after the previous update before this version of itunes, I'd had a problem with the itunes store crashing and at that time I followed instructions to copy QTMovieWin.dll to the itunes folder, which fixed the store crashing.
Today I fixed the problem by:
Delete QTMovieWin.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
Uninstall ALL Apple Software using Control Panel / Programs and Features. I uninstalled:
iTunes
QuickTime
Apple Mobile Device Support
Apple Application Support
Apple Software Update
Bonjour
Delete the folders:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
Restart the computer
Reinstall QuickTime
Reinstall iTunes
Everything works GREAT now, including the iTunes store. You will not lose your media files, I got everything back, all my settings, playlists, etc.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

After shutting down it automatically restarts and gives me a message Ÿour computer had to shut down because of a problem, press any key to restart..." and when it comes on again it gives me an option to send an error report to apple.

Yeah your Mac is having a Kernel Panic and the option to Restart the system when that happens is checked. So the system Restarts Automatically. Uncheck that option. For some unknown reason it is located in the Energy Saver applet in System Preferences.
As to the ROOT cause it could be software or hardware problems. There should be a Kernel Panic report in the console logs.
But if you do a search of these forum you'll find many that are having these restarts waking from sleep. So it would seem to be a hardware problem.

Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.

Adobe tells me EVERY adobe file I try to open is damaged?

Every time I try to open any adobe files I get an error telling me the files damaged or incompatible. I know these should open as none of my other class mates have issues opening the files.

What is your operating system? Reader version?
Can you open such a PDF file in a text editor, then copy and paste the first few lines here in the forum?

Every Single Application Crashes Upon Trying to Open

I ran a Software Update and downloaded the iTunes update. When I restarted and installed, now none of my applications will open (besides Firefox) - they all immediately crash. Dashboard, iTunes, Safari, Software Update - and worst of all, even my installer won't open. I downloaded the 1.6.5 patch and every time I go to install it the installer simply crashes. I don't know what to do, I need this computer for exams and I really don't want to have to pay this awesome company to fix basic functionality.

This is off-topic for the Universal Access forum, but I'd suggest a restore from the system disk that came with it, or take it into an Apple Store Genius Bar if you have one close by. I believe they'd diagnose the problem at no charge. You may also try a different forum; since this was an upgrade issue, I'd start with "Installation and Setup."

Hey, There are afew things you can try.
- Simply turn your phone off and back on again
- Hold down your home button and your lock button and let goes as soon as the screen goes black (Phone will power down) - Then turn on your phone and hey presto!
- Back up your iPhone to your PC, then restore it..
this ones last cause I think you may have tried it already..
- Close all open applications

After Effects CS5 Crashes every single time I try to render a file

I am trying to render some fairly simple motion graphics. I have an i7-860 2.8GHz computer with 16GB of RAM custom built to run After Effects. It always starts out just fine, but within about ten minutes it crashes and the computer restarts. I've done everything I can thing of from changing the amount of RAM that it uses, to the number of core processors it uses. Are there other things that I should try in order to keep AE from crashing? I've yet to get a single project to completely render.

you could always try cooling it manually,.. err
try finding a blow dryer that has an air only mode, most have them, and try running it holding they blowdryer right on your memory or cpu. if you didn't get high performance ram, and cooling tabs for the memory try cooling the memory. When memory gets too hot it starts flaking out. Also even the smallest amount of dust can cause your surfaces to cool poorly, MIT did a study that showed tiny layers of dust caused heating issues. Every now and then I take a dive tank pressurized to 200 bar and blow out everything..
Problem is testing it. almost none of the testing programs I saw got close to AE running full bore.
I've seen desktops with passive cooling at 85c the system dies instantly, you need to look at the apci tables to see what your system is set for.
I got a thermaltake case, it's alike a vacuum cleaner ,.. but different.
I guess if you want to test it try the hair dryer in cold mode. My system running 5-6 cores ND 13-14G ram runs about 65c still warm but not hot.
