Neat and Tidy filing.

I have finally got around to straightening up my filing; lots of newly christened folders set in their own super folder with nice individual icons for each.   All very pretty if you like it that way.
But now and again (not invariably) when I go back to the files, everything is higgldy piggldy and I have to straighten them up again.   And I don't like it that way.
Would anyone know why, having neatly set them all out, the files develop a mind of their own and go walkies?

It's because the Finder thinks it's smarter than you are and it's going to organize the icons its way whether you like it or not!   But seriously it's the way child folders inherit the layout from their parents (via the .DS_Store files in each folder).  You can override it using the finder's Show View Options (cmd-j) and setting it the way you want it.  But even then you may have to quit the finder to get it to "stick".  This has always been a problem to some extent but IMO got worse with (Snow) Leopard (very frustrating, hence my sarcastic initial remark, nothing personal to you, just the **** Finder).

  • Neat and Tidy Songs

Hey, I think this problem is pretty common. I have an itunes library full of songs from different sources (music store, cd's, cassete transfers, etc). Many songs dont even have names (Track 1, etc) and those that do are almost never consistent (E.g. The Beatles, Beatles, etc) and usually lack most other data (album, etc)
I was wondering if there were any programs that could fix up the meta data. I have Tunatic, which will identify a song and author (using soundflower). Perhaps someone can make an automator app to use with that?
I don't have the slightest clue how to use applescript and automator. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There are tons of scripts and a few Automator actions available at Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes.
The important issue is how well are your tracks tagged? If they are not tagged very well, you could try a program like iEatBrainz.
If you let iTunes organize your music files, then there is little reason to play around with file names and directories. I find I almost never have to go find a file on the disk outside of iTunes. However, there are utilities that will help you clean up file names, such as TriTag which will let you name files based on their tags. TriTag will also search the FreeDB database for missing tag data and it can also reorganize your directory structure.
Just remember, if you reorganize your music files outside of iTunes, then iTunes may no longer be able to find those files.

  • Neat and tidy...

when i import cd's onto my macbook using itunes 7 as all other itunes it puts them into my music section in the library. But when it comes to organizing i like my singles and albums seperate so they are easier to find. so i create a new playlist with the artist and album name and move all the songs into that, but they are still in my music section.
is there anyway how i can move them so they are not in my music section so they are in there own playlist?
    please help
    thanx
    Jono

Your "Library" contains everything you have in there. Playlists are nothing more than lists of things in your library. Even though you make a list of a set of songs, they all still sit in your library. There is no way to have songs listed in a playlist and NOT listed in the library listing as well. Think of "Library" as "Show All".

Saved and sorted/filed mail messages missing
October's messages are still there but all other messages are no longer in the folders. I have a confirmations folder with all forum and newsletter info for the last year that is empty. Where do these messages go?
I do not believe that I have it set to empty or delete itself after a certain time.
I can probably find these messages from comcast/gmail but still am wondering about this issue.
    Thank you.

  • Neat and clear code

    Hello everyone!
Until now I made games with Flash + AS3, when the game commands were separate AS files with appropriate referrals from Flash (linkage).
Now, I check how I go to work with Flash CC + javaScript, I sort of figured, but one thing bothers me a lot: Is there is no way to divide the commands neatly into smaller files? Do I really have to write all my code (javaScript) one big file?
How do you advise me to fix the code so that everything will be neat and clear?
    Thanks a lot!

I just found out that it is working if the native vlan of the trunk is the vlan of the supplicant switch SVI.
This way I see the correct CISP status and I see the CIPS Clients on the Authenticator switch.
I can also use PCs connected to the supplicant switch. They are added to the CISP client list on the authenticator. This only works for PCs that don't use dot1x.
If the switchport on the supplicant is configured for dot1x it is not working at all.
Dot1x doesn't seem to start on the supplicant. With "debug dot1x all" I only see ".Apr 15 10:01:01: dot1x-ev:DOT1X Supplicant not enabled on GigabitEthernet0/1".
The same port with the same config works if the supplicant switch is connected without NEAT. If I use NEAT, NEAT seems to work but dot1x for clientports on the supplicant switch stops working!

  • Coolstack: Difficulty enabling cURL and Tidy in PHP

    Hello:
I've been trying to enable curl and Tidy in PHP. I was successful in getting curl running by adding the following to php.ini:
    extension="curl.so"
However, after restarting Apache, I was seeing a warning in error_log that indicated libcurl.so.3 could not be found. I was able to locate a version of this file in /opt/staroffice8/program/libcurl.so.3, and after I copied it to /usr/lib, curl worked fine. Not an ideal fix, but I could not locate libcurl.so.3 in any download repository on sun.com.
Interestingly, I noticed that phpinfo() indicates that curl is already compiled into PHP 5 - here's an excerpt from my PHP configure command:
    './configure'
    <snip>
    '--with-curl=shared,/opt/coolstack'
It seems like I'm going about this wrong. On a related note, I also want to enable Tidy, and did so by adding the following to php.ini:
    extension="tidy.so"
Again, this caused apache produce a warning in error_log looking for libtidy-0.99.so.0, and again, I have the following in my PHP configure command:
    './configure'
    <snip>
    '--with-tidy=shared,/opt/coolstack'
Any insight into enabling these extensions would be greatly appreciated.
    Dave

    Open /etc/php/php.ini and find this:
    ; available extensions
    ;extension=bcmath.so
    extension=bz2.so
    ;extension=calendar.so
    extension=curl.so
Make sure curl.so is uncommented.  If it's not, change your config then restart the webserver.

  • Clean and tidy fonts between application 1.1.1 and 10G

i am testing Apllication Server 10G on forms and i have noticed a differnce between the clean and tidy fonts that are in application 1.1.1 and forms 10g.
in application 1.1.1 the fonts visualized when i run forms on the application are very clean and tidy (i use standard arial fonts)
in application 10g the same froms visualized the fonts are NOT clean and tidy and it is difficul to view !!!
What kind of problem is this ???
The situation is worst than the old version or i have forgotten some thing ???
The installation is a standard installation !!!
    Than'ks for all answer !!!

    Hello Rajesh,
we are speaking of high end routers that are expected to process tens of thousands of flows per second even just differentiating on source and destination ip addresses there should be enough variety in your traffic to use the parallel CEF links in a fair way.
CEF uses an EXOR of ip source and ip destination and an hash seed that changes only when the system is reloaded.
etherchannel can use EXOR of different fields:
    MAC SA exor MAC DA
    IP SA exor IP DA
L4 SA port exor L4 DA port
but only one of them applies to a type of traffic at a specific time.
Or you expect a few very high volume flows on the links (DR or DB synchronization just to say)
So to answer your question, unless used for connecting two data centers, I don't expect to gain in fairness by using a bundle.
    Hope to help

  • NEAT and CISP not working

    Hello,
I am trying to get NEAT to work. I set up the ISE and Swicthes according to this http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/lan-switching/8021x/116681-config-neat-cise-00.html guide.
The supplicant switch successfully authenticates itself to the ISE. The authenticator switch receives the av-pair and reconfigures the port to a trunk port.
The CISP part does not seem to be working though. I enabled it globally on both switches (there is only one command available "cisp enable").
    On Authenticator I see:
    CISP Status for interface Gi1/0/2
      Version:     1
      Mode:        Authenticator
      Peer Mode:   Supplicant
      Auth State:  Idle
But on Supplicant I see that he tries to register but in the end it shows:
    CISP Status for interface Gi0/10
      Version:     (not negotiated)
      Mode:        Supplicant
      Peer Mode:
      Supp State:  Registration Failed
I can see CISP clients on the supplicant switch but not on the authenticator. IOS is 15.2(1)E on both switches.
Without CISP only the MAC Address of the physical Interface is registered on the authenticator. Because of this the supplicant switch is not reachable anymore because the SVI has a different MAC Address. If I choose host-mode multi-host the switch works again but this is because this way all other MACs are allowed on this port.

  • MBST BDC and Ztable filed to be update

    Hi Guys,
In BDC Call transaction for MBST reversal postings  After the BDC Success posting the indicator field from Ztable should update to blank and I need to print the error records and success records as well. I am sending the steps that I am doing. Please validate.
    1) Fethcing the records from Z (BUKRS,BDS RefNo,Budat ) where indicator is 'X'.
    2) Based on Budat and bds reference number I am fetching records from MSEG and MKPF by joining these two tables into an final internal table.
    3) looping to the final internal table I am doing the BDC posting the data to MBST.
    4) inside the call transaction if sy-subrc = 0 then for that success records I need to set the Z table indicator  as Blank. for this I am using the query
    UPDATE z   SET filed = ' '
WHERE key fields in Z table.
    <b>COMMIT WORK.</b>
I am able to get the records are posted but the indicator is setting as it is and it is not moving blank after posting.
Could you please help me asap.
    Regards,
    <b>Guest.</b>

    Hi,
    Take care of 2 things.
    1. Your update statement should be called after successful posting within the loop..endloop statement where you are calling BDC.
    2. Try
    UPDATE Ztable SET   field_indicator = ' '
                   WHERE key1   = ztable-field1 AND
                         key2   = ztable-field1 AND
                         keyn   = ztable-fieldn.
and check the sy-subrc after Update statement in debug mode.
    Cheers,
    Vikram

  • Mac Mail and Gmail Filing Issue.

    Hi all,
My Mail is set up with Gmail. When I'm trying to file my emails using Mail, the email goes into the right 'label', but then it comes back into my inbox for a couple of seconds, then it disappears back into the label.
I guess it's not the end of the world, but I tend to file emails quickly as I go. And what happens is, I think the email is filed, and then click the next one, I start to reply and then I realise I'm replying to the wrong email because the one I filed jumped back to the top of the inbox.
So I've got this routine now where every time I file a mail, I have to sit and watch it jump into the label, jump back to my inbox, jump back to the label, and then I can continue working.
Over the course of a day, it gets frustrating.
Has anyone else experienced this / anyone know what could be causing it?
    Thanks, Laura
NB: Specs - Macbook Pro, Maverick OSX 10.9.2 - 4bg ram, 2.66 ghz intel core duo // Mail version 7.2
    email settings are:
    account type: Google IMAP
    incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
    Outgoing mail server: Gmail

Acutally, clicking on some of the related issues on here (they only became visible after posting my question), I found this in one of the posts:
    http://tidbits.com/article/14219
This seems to answer the question. In other words, it doesn't work because Mavericks.
Doesn't seem to be a fix for this, whether you choose 'all mail' or not, you're going to have one set of problems or another. So I am guessing the answer is to be patient and hope that they fix this in the next OSX update/version.

  • This latest version of Firefox is complete pants! Why can I no longer have a nice, tidy little row of icons across the top so that I click and find things at an instance like I could with the Google Toolbar?

This latest version of Firefox is complete pants! Why can I no longer have a nice, tidy little row of icons across the top so that I can click and find things at an instance, like I could with the Google Toolbar?
Example:- I've just spent 20 minutes looking how to 'translate' after I installed that add-on, there it was! A tiny little icon in the bottom right of the screen, I find the new set up very messy and very hard to navigate. Why can't I have the same set up on my toolbar that I've had for the last ten years? It's that bad that I'm even considering going back to I.E.
    Jon T

Thanks but you're only telling me stuff I already know, that dosen't explain how I get the new version of Firefox to look neat and tidy like it always used to. I can no longer have all my icons that I use, I can no longer access things as easily as I could and the whole thing looks very bare and basic now! A bigger mess than even Google Chrome.
I've spent most of this evening trying to get stuff back that is now lost because of this 'upgrade' and I'm now giving up with it. Well done! You've totally ruined what was the best browser for years.

  • Sharing an iTunes Library across multiple user account and a network.

Sharing an iTunes Music Library across multiple user accounts.
    Hello Everybody!
Firstly, this was designed to be run in Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. It will not work with earlier versions of Mac OS X! Sorry.
Here's a handy tip for keeping your hard drive neat and tidy, it also saves space, what in effect will be done is an iTunes music library will be shared amongst multiple users on the same machine. There are advantages and disadvantages to using this method.
    • Firstly I think it might be worthwhile to state the advantages and disadvantages to using this approach.
    The advantages include:
    - Space will be saved, as no duplicate files will occur.
    - The administrator will be able to have complete control over the content of the iTunes library, this may be useful for restricting the content of the Library; particularly for example if computer is being used at and education institution, business or any other sort of institution where things such as explicit content would be less favorable.
    - The machine will not be slowed by the fact that every user has lots of files.
The disadvantages to this system include.
    - The fact that the account storing the music will have to be logged in, and iTunes will have to be active in that account.
    - If the account housing the music is not active then nobody can use the iTunes library.
    - There is a certain degree of risk present when an administrator account must be continually active.
    - Fast User Switching must be enabled.
    Overview:
A central account controls all music on the machine/network, this is achieved by storing iTunes files in a public location as opposed to in the user's directory. In effect the system will give all users across the machine/network access to the same music/files without the possibility of files 'doubling up' because two different users like the same types of music. This approach saves valuable disk space in this regard and may therefore prove to be useful in some situations.
This is a hearty process to undertake, so only follow this tutorial if you're willing to go all the way to the end of it.
    Process:
    Step 1:
Firstly, we need to organize the host library, I tidied mine up, removing excess playlists, random files, things like that. this will make thing a bit easier in the later stages of this process.
Once the library is tidied up, move the entire "iTunes" folder from your Home directory to the "//localhost" directory (The Macintosh HD) and ensure that files are on the same level as the "Applications", "Users", "Library" and "System" directories; this will ensure that the files in the library are available to all users on the machine (this also works for networks)
Optionally you can set the ownership of the folder to the 'administrator' account (the user who will be hosting the library.), you may also like to set the permissions of 'you can' to "Read & Write" (assuming that you are doing this through the user who will host the library); secondly you should set the "Owner" to the administrator who will be hosting the library and set their "access" to "Read & Write" (this will ensure that the administrator has full access to the folder). The final part of this step involves setting access for the "Others" tab to "Read Only" this will ensure that the other users can view but not modify the contents on the folder.
    Overview:
So far we have done the following steps:
    1. Organized the host library.
    2. Placed the iTunes directory into a 'public' directory so that other users may use it. (this step is essential if you plan on sharing the library across multiple accounts on the same machine. NOTE: this step is only necessary if you are wanting to share you library across multiple accounts on the same machine, if you simply want to share the music across a network, use the iTunes sharing facility.
    3. set ownership and permissions for the iTunes music folder.
    Step 2:
Currently the administrator is the only user who can use this library, however we will address this soon. In this step we will enable iTunes music sharing in the administrator's account, this will enable other users to access the files in the library.
If you are not logged in as the administrator, do so; secondly, open iTunes and select "Preferences" from the "iTunes" menu, now click the "Sharing" tab, if "share my library on my local network" is not checked, the radio buttons below this will now become active, you may choose to share the entire libraries contents, or share only selected content.
Sharing only selected content may be useful if their is explicit content in the library and minors use the network or machine that the library is connected to.
If you have selected "share entire library" go to Step 3, if you have selected share "share selected playlists" read on.
After clicking "share selected playlists" you must then select the playlists that you intend to share across your accounts and network. Once you have finished selecting the playlists, click "OK" to save the settings.
    Overview:
    In this step we:
    1. Enabled iTunes sharing in the administrator's account, now, users on the local network may access the iTunes library, however, users on the same machine may not.
    Step 3:
Now we will enable users on the same machine to access the library on the machine. This is achieved by logging in as each user, opening iTunes, opening iTunes preferences, and clicking "look for shared music". now all users on the machine may also access the library that the administrator controls.
This in effect will mean that the user will not need to use their user library, it will be provided to them via a pseudo network connection.
As a secondary measure, I have chosen to write a generic login script that will move any content from the user's "Music/iTunes/iTunes Music" directory to the trash and then empties the user's trash.
This is done through the use of an Automator Application: this application does the following actions.
    1. Uses the "Finder" action "Get Specified Finder Items"
    1a. The user's "~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music" folder
    2. Uses the "Finder" action "Get Folder Contents"
    3. Uses the "Finder" action "Move to Trash"
    4. Uses the "Automator" action "Run AppleScript"
    4a. with the following:
    on run {input, parameters}
    tell application "Finder"
    empty trash
    end tell
    return input
    end run
IMPORTANT: Once the script is adapted to the user account it must be set as a login item. in order to keep the script out of the way i have placed it in the user's "Library" directory, in "Application Support" under "iTunes".
    Overview:
    Here we:
    1. Enabled iTunes sharing in the user accounts on the host machine, in effect allowing all users of the machine to view a single iTunes library.
    2. (Optional) I have created a login application that will remove any content that has been added to user iTunes libraries, this in effect stops other users of the machine from adding music and files to iTunes.
    Step 4:
If it is not already enabled, open system preferences and enable Fast User Switching in Accounts Options.
    Summary:
We have shared a single iTunes library across multiple user account, while still allowing for network sharing. This method is designed to save space on machines, particularly those with smaller hard drives.
I hope that this hint proves to be helpful and I hope everybody will give me feedback on my process.
    regards,
    Pete.
