Need = 30 Mhz 16x16

Hi,
Looking for PXI   16x16 1-wire  with <= 0.5Ω and enough bandwidth to carry a true -3Db 10Mhz with multiple switch closures  say 3 on a row.  It would be nice if it fit in a normal slot (I think 1U).   I am aware of the 2532b but not only is it way more than what we need, it is huge 3U and we would have to have a separate rack also its switch impedance is higher than what we would like.
We really need a minimum of 10Mhz which is why I have been looking at 40Mhz and above so that when we use multiple switches we can still get the bandwidth.

Tell us more about your source and DUT.  Are they 50Ω?  I imagine that with a 500mΩ requirement, they're not.  Thus, we'll have incident reflections from your source into our matrix, through our matrix, and again as we leave our matrix.  Each additional source/load you connect at the same time will complicate matters further.
If you're attempting to pass a 10MHz sine wave through our switch (the analog definition of BW), then you should expect variable attenuation and (possibly severe) reflections, depending on how many DUTs you connect simultaneously.
When SI is important on faster signals, I typically recommend a blocking matrix design.  Blocking matrices allow NxN connections well into the GHz, but unfortunately, only allow one connection on any particular path.  Take a peak at this KnowledgeBase I wrote for an overview.
Of course, 10MHz isn't typically fast enough for me to recommend a blocking matrix, but when said matrix is 16x16, that warrants more consideration.  If you can use a smaller matrix, I'd recommend the PXI-2541, which is 8x12.  Note: You can expand the matrix to 8x24, 8x36, etc, with multiple modules, but this will also affect BW.
How do we overcome all the stubs?  Glad you asked!  Inside the 2541, we've got a bunch of smaller 2x4 interleaved matrices, thus reducing the stub length.  However, all those additional relays certainly increase the ESR: 2.1Ω.
You might ask "But I don't need 300MHz."  Yes. You. Do.  Our 300MHz spec is routing a single column to a single row in a single module.  Once you start connecting multiple rows and columns at the same time, your bandwidth is going to drop off like the great recession.  Unfortunately, I can't comment further since I don't know about your test system and I haven't gathered this particular empirical data.

  • Need 867 MHz G4 to run Leopard! Dang!

As per rumor, we will need a 867 MHz G4 with 512MB RAM and 9 gig of available disk space to run Leopard. Any one wanna trade?
    Cheers! DALE

    Hi Simon,
The only Mac we've shed was a "pre-owned" Performa 6200/75, the Mac that got four Road Apples from LowEndMac. Had I known it was going to be a giraffe (a horse built by a committee) I'd never had bought it (explains the cheap price). Our 6100/60 was MUCH faster than the 6200. Still, the 6200 let us limp through a difficult period until I got the first beige G3 in 1999 (still have and use).
I parted out the 6200; it was such a poor ambassador that I didn't want some other poor sod ending up with a bad MacTaste in his mouth!

  • I have project I want to run and need some information

    Hi
I have project I want to run and need some information about technical, consultancy, architecture design
and what I need for this project (hardware and software(
I planning to stream live streaming 24 channels,
The feed is analog from pal STB cable or satellite.
I want to stream in 2 different resolution and bit rates
    1. full screen 750-850k
    2. 240x360    400-600k
    the format is flash h.264
The channels are series, sport, news, and movie.
What recommended card (i have osprey 450e)?
What kind of requirement of computer I need (CPU, MHZ, CORE, RAM).
can i use i7 cpu or xeon cpu?
how many channels i can run in 1 computer?
I need cheap solution for this project around 20-30k$ for hardware.
    thnaks

I am working on a similar project.
Actually, i can encode 2 streams in h.264 with a resolution around 640X480 on a Intel Xeon E3120 (2 core) 3.16 GHZ configuration.
OS is a windows XP 32 bits. CPU usage is around 75%.
(note: FMLE instances are run with FMLEcmd not GUI mode)
Does someone know if i can gain performance with windows XP 64bits ?
My goal is to encode 4 streams on a single machine, does someone know if a dual CPU, let's say 2 X (4 core) Xeon, is enough ?
I don't know if FMLE support multiple processor with multiple core configuration.
I am maybe wrong, but after reading this forum, it seems many people have problems using FMLE under windows vista. Do we gain performance on Vista vs XP ?

  • Can I get an upgrade from 667 MHz to 867 MHz for a PowerBook G4?

I'd like to use my old PowerBook to support an iPod Touch for a family member, but need to install Leopard to do that. I bought a new copy of the OS for this but can't get it to install and now see that I need 867 MHz and have 667. What to do?

The deal-breaker may not be the processor but the lack of USB 2.0 on the older PowerBooks. Newer iPods require USB 2.0 and a 667mHz PBG4 has USB 1.1.
You can use a Cardbus adaptor to provide USB 2.0, like this:
IOGEAR Hi-Speed USB 2.0 CardBus 2 Port USB 2.0 for Laptops
These are getting harder to find as newer computers ship with USB 2.0 capability.
FWIW, I recently bought Leo by calling the Apple Store and installed in on a Powermac G4 1.25Ghz with 1.75G of RAM and a 64MB VRAM video card. It is not very limber compared to Tiger on the same machine, Even if you use the installer hack, I'm afraid you will have an mostly unusable computer.

  • My mac shuts down in prolonged sleep mode "because of a Problem".

If my mac book pro mid 2012 goes to sleep for a prolonged period of time I have to reboot it as hard start and get a message indicating that it shut down because of an problem.  How Do I fix this?
I had my mother board tested at a mac shop in Nepal while I was there and it came back as everything being perfect.
It does not always do this though and for short sleeps it never does.
I have had extensive changes done to this mac such as a 16GB Ram upgrade and replacing the hard drive with a 1 T Crucial Hard Drive and removing the DVD Player and adding in a 256 Solid State Drive.  So far everything has been working great.  Just recently I notice this occuring with the sleep mode so as a result I just shut down the computer fully when I am not near to it or using it.  Any advice as to what to look at or try out.

    godlovestodance,
your Mid 2012 needs 1600 MHz memory modules. Is your currently installed RAM of this variety?
In your current setup, is it your 1 TB HDD or your 256 GB SSD that is in the optical drive bay?
One thing you can try is this: boot your MacBook Pro into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as it starts up. Once the Mac OS X Utilities menu appears, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it still crash because of an extended sleep?

  • Mac shuts down in sleep mode.

This just started to happen to my mac pro quad intel running the latest SNOW software. My mac shuts down in sleep mode. I tried to zap pram, but it ill not allow me to do this.
I also check the internal battery using a small program and its a full charge. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    Tony

  • How do you analyze a crash report

I have been getting crash reports for a little bit now and have been trying to figure out what is going on. Below is my most recent crash report, any insight into this would be great!
Thanks for all of the help, I really do appreaciate it!!

  • Using a PDF as a Document Template in SharePoint 2010: "New Document" icon and action

    Hi,
I have to create a document template in SharePoint 2010 using a PDF. After much searching I have learned to install Reader on the SharePoint server to bring in AcroPDF.dll
and set the OpenControl for PDFs in DOCICON.xml to be "AdobeAcrobat.OpenDocuments".
After taking these steps I can check PDFs in and out of SharePoint, and edit PDFs as I would edit an MS Office document.
However two problems remain with creating new documents based upon a PDF document template.
    1) The PDF icon does not appear in the New Document dropdown. This makes sense since I never referenced a 32x32 icon in the SharePoint config files. Where would I place the icon image file and which configuration file would I edit to use that image file, and how?
The last three document templates are PDFs.
The second problem I face is that when I click one of the document templates above that is a PDF, nothing happens. I have tried this with Acrobat installed on both the client and the server. It would be preferable to insert a copy of the PDF document used as a template without having to use Acrobat at all.
Is there any resolution to either of these problems?

According to what i found the image needs to be 16x16.
    See if this works.
Edit the DOCICON.XML file to include the PDF icon
    In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML
Edit the DOCICON.XML file (I open it in NotePad, you can also use the built-in XML Editor)
Ignore the section <ByProgID> and scroll down to the <ByExtension> section of the file
Within the <ByExtension> section, insert a <Mapping Key=”pdf” Value=”pdficon_small.gif” /> attribute. The easiest way is to copy an existing one – I usually just copy the line that starts <Mapping Key=”png”… and replace the parameters for Key and Value (see image below for example).
Note: Do not take shortcuts and copy/paste from here. 99% of problems with PDF icons not being displayed are due to errors made in the DOCICON.XML file
    Save and close the file

  • Shall I update my memory to 32G (4x 8G) with DDR3 1600 Hz

If I want to update my computer hardware, shall I update memory to 32G (4x 8G) with DDR3 1600 Hz or the computer computer just only support DDR3 1333 Hz with maxium 4G RAM?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mid 2011 iMac needs 1333 MHz DDR3 memory, so you have to install 1333 MHz memory. 1600 MHz memory isn't supported on your computer.
You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Apple supports 16 GB of memory officially, so it's possible that 32 GB of memory won't work even if they have been tested by other sources

  • Upgrade from tiger to leopard on a power mac G?

can i upgrade from tiger to leopard on a power mac G5?

Yes, however, read about the pitfalls below.
Mac OS X 10.5 was release October 26, 2007.  Its 10.5.8 update is the newest operating system available for PowerPC Macs that meet its requirements.  It is available occasionally by calling Apple online store's phone number, even though the website does not show it.  Many want to upgrade to Leopard because of i-Devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod) bought saying iTunes 10 or later is recommended.  To check if that really is required, look at the i-Device requirements section of this tip
If your Mac is Intel, and running 10.4.11 or earlier, and meets the hardware requirements of 10.6, a less expensive upgrade solution is to upgrade to 10.6 directly.  No need to upgrade to 10.5 unless your software won't run in 10.6.
Software listed for Intel Mac and PowerPC Macs can run on 10.5 for the platform indicated in the link. For Leopard you need
867 Mhz on a single processor or faster (1 Ghz and higher are faster).
256 MB of RAM (preferably 512MB of more based on arbitrary experience).
9 GB of hard disk space (arbitrary experience adds another 15%) free.
Macs newer than August 28, 2009 can't run Leopard, and require a minimum of Snow Leopard.
Dual booting Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X 10.5, check this tip:https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1757
Classic is not compatible with 10.5.  10.4.11 on a PowerPC Mac or earlier is needed for Classic.
Mac OS X 10.5 is the earliest version of Mac OS X that will run iTunes 10.  This is necessary for numerous i-Devices (iPad, iPhone, and iPods).  To find out which require it, see this article
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes_version_history
Should you require only iTunes 9, and are running a minimum of 10.4, backup your data at least twice, check in Apple menu -> About This Mac if you have a G3, G4, G5 (which is PowerPC), or Intel Core (which is Intel) make sure you are running 10.4.11 PowerPC or 10.4.11 Intel (depending on the aforementioned processors), and download iTunes 9.2.1.  The only reason you should upgrade to 10.5 is if some other software is required.
Boot Camp is only available on Intel Macs with 10.5 and higher.
Time Machine backup software first appeared in 10.5
You have several options of installation which are explained here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2209
All of which I recommend you backup your data at least twice before upgrading, and have sufficient disk space to install, and all your third party applications and drivers are known to be Leopard compatible, and after backing up your data you dismount and disconnect all but Apple keyboard and mouse and if there is an external display, that too. And just before you install repair permissions.
If any of the above terms confuse you, ask on the Discussions board what they mean, and one of the people who knows will gladly assist you.
You must use the installer disc that looks like *, and does not say Upgrade, Dropin, or OEM, if you choose to upgrade to Leopard.

  • Can't install Studio 8

    Hi,
my mac is running wonderful with a Sonnet 1,4 GHz-CPU: Computername: Power Mac G4
    Computermodell: PowerMac3,4
    CPU-Typ: PowerPC G4 (3.3)
    Anzahl der CPUs: 1
    CPU-Geschwindigkeit: 1.4 GHz
    L2-Cache (pro CPU): 256 KB
    L3-Cache (pro CPU): 2 MB
    Speicher: 1.25 GB
    Busgeschwindigkeit: 133 MHz
    Boot-ROM-Version: 4.2.8f1
This is what the System Profiler in "About this Mac" tells me.
LOGIC Pro 6.4.3 runs very good. The Studio 8 Upgrade -Installer writes: "Your Mac needs 500 MHz or more, You've got 0 MHz. Quit installation.
    What can I do?
Thank You very much for Your help.

It's probably because you have an third-party/unsupported CPU configuration (the Sonnet thing).
You might need to edit the installer package to change the installation requirements. How to do this has been posted before, it was an OSXHints tip originally. A search should turn it up...

  • IMac G5 update with 10.5.4 and iLife 8

I bought the software boxes this morning. 10.5.4 and iLife 8. But find that under the price label of iLife 8 that I don't fit all requirements. iMovie is 1.9 GHz (I have 1.8GHz ) and iDVD needs 733 mHz and I have 600 MHz Bus Speed ( same thing?).
I currently have 10.3.9 and 6.2.6 (Aug 04) iLife. I use the iMovie and iDVD for home videos and want newer software. I was hoping for a clean install. I backed up everything on an external hard drive and am ready to start with a clean slate.
Can I add to the speed or memory or is this 4 year old computer or am I not able to use this new software? I haven't opened the boxes yet! Thank you.

    iMovie is 1.9 GHz (I have 1.8GHz )
Download and install this software after setting up iLife 08.
iDVD needs 733 mHz and I have 600 MHz Bus Speed
That refers to the CPU's speed, not the bus speed. All G5 and Intel Macs can use iDVD 08.

  • Flash Movie Creating

I have an Imac G3 grape that does not have internet and has at least 128mb of RAM. I am hoping that there is a program to make flash movies with my computer, help would be helpful.

The program that makes Flash movies is called, strangely enough, Flash. It used to be made by Macromedia, but was recently purchased by Adobe. There's a free, 30 day trial period available, but you need to get someone to download it for you (since you don't have internet) and you also need to check the system requirements against what you have in the grape iMac.
For the trial version that is currently available for download you would need:
600 MHz PowerPC G3 and later (which leaves a grape iMac out of the picture)
    Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4
256 MB RAM (1 GB recommended to run more than one Studio 8 product simultaneously)
1024 x 768, thousands of colors display (millions of colors recommended)
    360 MB available disk space

  • USB-5132 ext clock + Trig ?

    Hi -
We need ~20 Mhz  for 100mS  samples, 8 bit , high clock accuracy with big (>3kV) isolation. We have been looking at a USB-5132 , with an optical-fiber to USB converter and  supply 5V that floats with the source. We need it to sync with clocks to <10ppm, and while we could run PF1 from our isolated clock system, then we wouldn't have a trigger. We had been hoping to set up the 5132 to acquire whenever it saw a clock pulse, as we can gate or otherwise process our clock signals.  I see from other posts though that the 5133 won't do continuous mode so probably not the 5132, eh ? Triggering from the inputs or in software is not an option, unfortunately (would have to trigger 500mS back) Also I had been hoping to find  programming or detailed user  manuals online but don't see them.  Another option  I suppose would be a 2 ch ethernet digitizer, but the low cost and ease of use makes the 5132 attractive, as this might be the first of a bunch more. Thanks for any input.

    Hi Jennifer -
The page Matt pointed to, http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370592E-01/TOC6.htm , has the outline of a programming guide. Each link points to a valid page there, but I only found a bit  on those pages, e.g.
