Need a converter for international travel?

I am traveling to Spain and Morocco and taking both iPhone 4s and iPad Mini. I know I need to take a plug adapter, but do I also need to take a converter, or is Apple's block-style plug sufficient to convert amperage?

You just need an adapter. Read the fine print on your power plug. Any plug that goes from 100-240 is an international capable power plug, and the iPad power brick qualifies.

I am planning a trip to New Zealand this fall and am wondering if I need more than an ac adapter to fit my iPad2 into the electrical outlets there. I'd hate blow my iPads brains out on the trip

    You only need plug adapter.
The iPad charger is rated 100V to 240V. Can be used anywhere.

    Verizon uses CDMA.
The rest of the world uses GSM.
The wifi will work, if you find a hotspot.
The 3G will not, unless south Korea moves to Europe.

  • Should you choose Verizon for international travel?

Background: My wife and left for Italy for a bicycle and sightseeing tour. We arrived on  June 26th and hoped to communicate using the international plan. We understood that we could not use data due to expense but hoped to keep in contact when bicycle riding by using Verizon services. There was a problem with the activation of my wifes phone so I called customer service on the 28th. It was explained to me that there was a tremendous back log so after an hour and a half on the phone I hung up. Naturally I did not want to use my vacation time on hold with Verizon. The next day after a half hour the worldwide tech people updated her plan. The phone worked that evening but the next day it was in the android mode. Could not use phone for communication or for photos...not to worry the Verizon team would come through...On the 30 it was explained to me that the phone was inoperable but Verizon would have a phone waiting for wife when we returned on the July 9 th. The uptake was that we could not use the phone for communication or photos.
When I returned to United States I contacted customer service and explained the situation. Customer service was very polite but policy dictated...Verizon would reverse international charges on my wifes phone but not my phone. The reasoning for this request was that Verizon greatly impacted my vacation by not allowing me to communicate with my wife when touring and she could not take photos for three quarters of vacation. I do not believe that this is an unreasonable request.
The topper is there was no phone here when we arrived. Again tech services were very polite but policy dictates. I could not pick up a phone at a local store and I would have to pay $12.95 for overnight shipping. I explained that I thought this was unreasonable because it was Verizon's fault but policy dictates.
What I learned is that Verizon policy is not customer centered but profit centered. Verizon talks the talk customer service but does not walk the walk.
If you choose to Verizon for international travel make sure you have a back up plan and do not expect customer support

Do I need a converter for my Macbook pro in Italy?

For voltage wise - you don't.
But you need a converter for the socket.
If you live in North America - the socket (power outlet) is different than the European socket (power outlet)

The guy at the Genius Bar has told you absolute and utter rubbish.  It is true that Apple has stopped supporting iWeb, but it definitely DOES NOT mean that your website will stop working any time soon.
They should know that iWeb is an application on your Mac and as long as it is compatible with your OS - it works in Snow Leopard and Lion and will be compatible with the new Mountain Lion out this Summer, then you can still use it to build and maintain websites.
As long as your are not publishing your site to MobileMe, then you are okay - if you are publishing to a local folder and then uploading to another host that is fine and your site will not be going anywhere in a hurry.
You don't need to change software unless you really want to.

  • Need Help for International Travel Please

I am going to be in Panama for a year. What I would like is:
    1) to be able to call phones in the U.S.
    2) to be able to receive calls from the U.S.
    3) to send and receive texts from the U.S.
This is all I want, but I don't mind if the service packages I buy also include other things.
I would like all three items to be in a package deal so that I am not paying per call/text.
I would love some suggestions because I just tried contacting the Support Chat for over an hour and I need to pack for my trip in a few days!
    THANKS!

  • I would like to temporarily unlock the device for international travel

I'b currently in a 8weeks travel to Europe from US. I've an ongoing 2y contract with ATT, 10gig plan with 2 phones. Phones are not paid in full yet, as Im only 11 months through the 24 months term. However, I've made 1000USD security deposit when purchasing the phones. I've never missed a payment, and I plan to be using ATT service when I'm back. Moreover, Im not going to suspend it, but pay in full every month like I always did. I've tried using the unlock form, but it wouldn't allow the unlock since I am on an ongoing contract. I have contacted support and they agreed ATT is safe since they have 1000USD security deposit from me just in case anything happens, but they failed to fulfill my request as Im an active client for less than a year (11 months to be exact). They have offered 2 options, to pay a termination fee, or use international package. Both would not work for me, as I'm going to use the services when I go back for another year, so I dont want to terminate. International packages are useless in the country Im going to. I have also proposed that I pre-pay 2-3 more months ahead instead of termination. Of course, I can use 3rd-party unlock options, but I dont want to as I was always loyal to ATT and expected ATT to be loyal in respond. Having the loyal customer is in ATT's best interest. Question: is there any way I can have my unlock request processed taking into account what is said above? There is zero risk to ATT.

Unfortunately no. AT&T will not unlock any device currently under any agreement.
You can try and private message to see if they can help, but I wouldn't count on it.

  • Need a logic for Internal table processing

    Hi,
I have a requirement...an internal table contains three fields material no, bin no, and Quantity
Mat. No    |         Bin No        |              Quantity
    a              |              x1         |                   10
    a              |              x1         |                   10
    a              |              x2         |                   20
    b              |              x3         |                   10
    c              |              x3         |                   20
    c              |              x4         |                   30
    c              |              x4         |                   40
In this I need to append the records to new internal table say itab1 where multiple entries exist for some material no like mat no 'a' and 'c'  and
if the material no. exist only once in the table, it has to be moved to another new internal table say itab2.
Pls suggest some logic that does not have performance issues.
    Thanks in advance
    Saravana

    Hi there,
    a solution in brief...
    data: wa_itab1_a like itab1,
             wa_itab2_b like itab1,
             lv_tabix       type sytabix.
    sort itab1 by matnr.
    loop at itab1.
      wa_itab1_a = itab1.
      at new matnr.
        lv_tabix = sy-tabix + 1.
        clear wa_itab2_b.
        READ TABLE itab1 into wa_itab2_b
                            INDEX lv_tabix.
        if wa_itab2_b-matnr ne wa_itab1_a-matnr.
          append wa_itab1_a to itab2.
          delete itab1 where matnr = wa_itab1_a-matnr.
        endif.
      endat.
    endloop.

  • W2k8R2 - Enterprise CA - Need WildCard Certificate for Internal Use

    Hi guys,
A new client of mine has a "standalone" CA in their domain already...but I need a Wildcard Cert for some applications I'm installing in IIS.
I'm used to setting up an "Enterprise" CA and issuing a Wildcard Cert that way, but I don't know if the "standalone" CA can do that.  I attempted to have IIS request a cert and it didn't auto-populate the CA information...but I told
it to use CERTAUTHNAME\domaincontroller and it created one...but it doesn't appear to be working.
My question is...if I install the Enterprise Root CA on a DC in their environment, can it interfere with the already issued certs from the standalone CA?
I don't want to break something to move forward with my stuff.
Thanks a lot and any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Standalone CA can issue wildcard certificates. You just need to generate certificate request manually (without using IIS Mgmt console for that) by using INF file and certreq. Then, you submit your request to a CA server. Look at this article:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2017.certificate-enrollment-for-system-center-operations-manager-agent.aspx
although, this article is intended for OpsMgr, certificate enrollment process is the same for all products, just skip OpsMgr-specific stuff. There are three sections related to Standalone CAs: request generation, submission and installation. In the INF file,
you specify your wildcard name in the Subject key.

    Greetings:
I got my old G3 900mHz iBook up and running with Panther 10.3.9 and wish to install a program that converts FLV and MP4 files into a format my iBook can use. I tried FLV Crunch and VideoMonkey which were losers. Much appreciate any recommendation! Thanks!

  • IPad for international travel.

We are heading for Europe (mostly Italy) and will be in an apartment that has no access to WiFi. I am wondering if It is possible to use a US purchased 3G iPad in Europe. Does anybody have any ideas about whether I can and, if so, what I will have to do to make it work?

    You have several choices:
    1. You can get an AT&T International Data Plan (note that you must have a domestic data plan first). http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/Apple/iPad-Wi-Fi-3G-Information/td-p/1925513
    2. You can get a local data plan and micro sim in Italy. (Check that 3G is available where you will be staying.) http://areaclienti.tre.it/ac3pages/18455_ITAHTML.htm
    3. Another Italian alternative. http://ipad.vodafone.it/
    4. Get a Europe-wide micro sim (not any cheaper than the AT&T International Plan). http://www.maxroam.com/Shop/Product/Detail.aspx?ProductId=787

  • Beware the loaner phone for international travel

Just got a loaner for Europe-if they try to give you an HTC Imagio, hang up and go to another company. I can't believe Verizon has junk like this in its inventory. It's an old Windows-based phone (must have been a real big winner for Microsoft). The tech in the Verizon store spent 1.5 hrs trying unsuccessfully to transfer my contacts from my Droid. No go. The phone is slow, very difficult to use., not intuitive in the least. Thanks, Verizon, for treating me like your worst customer. Even the techs in the store say its a bad phone. Can't wait until my contract is up. Bye, bye.

You should have SIMPLY ASKED FOR A MODERN ANDROID Moto Droid Pro/Droid 2 GlobalHTC Incridble 2 and other phones.
VZW needs to get rid of the OLD PHONES with the OLD SOFTWARE that are CONFUSING AS HECK to the CONSUMER.

  • HT1937 I am from the United States and am currently in The Netherlands, then traveling to the UK. I activated my iPhone 4S for international travel using the *288 number, however it is telling me that I have no service.

I also tried resetting the netowrk preferences and that did not help either. Is there anything I can do as I am already in Europe?

You need to call Verizon's global customer service to get your sim card provisioned for use in Europe, or your sim slot unlocked:

  • BBM for International Traveler

I got my z10 today.  I do not have a BB before and I use mutiple sims in various countries.  It was my understanding that BBM should connect through wifi as well.  All I get is a screen saying No BlackBerry Data (BBM is unable to connect to the server.  Please try again later)  Any thoughts?

If you've inserted a new SIM card without a data plan attached to that SIM, you won't have BBM.
