Need a firmware update/upgrade for 9500 (rel 4.51)

Hi!,
I'm currently in South America, and I need a way to upgrade the firmware of my 9500 (rel 4.51) to a newest version. I've contact the local Nokia Care team in Argentina, and they don't have the "flashing battery" for the 9300/9500.
CAn anyone suggest me a way to try to upgrade my 9500?. I really need to do it.
Thanks!
Nils Heinemann

new problem, i put the old drive in, ran classic, then opened the update file, but nothing.
then i looked around for an aplication that would run it, i found an "update intaller" app but it refuses to run.
do i need to configure the classic drive to be the master or is there something else im missing?

• *** E51 GREAT PHONE BUT NEED A FIRMWARE UPDATE... ...

Hi
TO THE NOKIA FIRMWARE UPDATE STAFF:
I bought that great phone NOKIA E51 but it needs a FIRMWARE UPDATE because the built'in camera gives photo(and videos too!) in VERY VERY "green" color that's too bad (MY OLD 6630 , so only 1,3 megapixel is best in photo quality against my actually E51..!)
*** SO PLEASE REMOVE THE GREEN COLOR TENDENCY IN THE PHOTO! ***
ANOTHER AND LAST problem I have noticed during mine along E51 testing is the integrate REAL PLAYER VERSION has VERY VERY big problems during *MP4* VIDEO PLAYBACK (MP4 VIDEOS MADE ON PURPOSE FOR MOBILE), VIDEO APPEARS In jerks (ESPECIALLY IN FULL SCREEN!) And SOME TIME IT BLOCKS DURING PLAYBACK!
*** SO PLEASE A NEW VERSION OF REAL PLAYER IN THE NEXT E51 FIRMWARE ***
FOR ALL THE REST THE E51 PHONE IS GREAT AND PRICE TOO (200€ IN ITALY), I BELIVE IT'LL BE A BEST SELLER -BUT- ONLY IF THE PROBLEMS I LISTED ABOVE WILL BE CORRECTED!!
i got latest firmware version: 100.34.20

Hi,
I wrote to Nokia regarding this issue using the Nokia India site, and the Nokia for Business site. I also sent an email to [email protected]
Here is the text of the email:
Hi,
I bought my Nokia E51 four days back, and I am VERY happy with the
phone. However, I feel that there are some shortcomings with the
phone, which need to be addressed by firmware upgrades. I am listing
them here:
1) The camera has a VERY noticeable green tint
2) The video playback in full screen mode using RealPlayer is VERY
slow and choppy
3) In the "Missed Calls" part of the call log, there is NO way to
determine WHICH number of the contact was the call missed - "Mobile
Number", "Tel.(home)", "Tel.(office)" or what? The only way to
determine is to call back using the same screen, which is VERY
counterintuitive!
You can have a look at some more people agreeing with me here -
/discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&thread.id=14028
and the problem 3) described in detail here -
/discussions/board/message?board.id=communicators&thread.id=15956
Apart from these 3 problems, I am VERY VERY happy with the E51 - it
lives up to all the promises it makes! Way to go, Nokia! I request you
to address those 3 issues as fast as possible!
Thanks and regards,
I request ALL other users of the phone to please contact Nokia similarly, to have these issues resolved ASAP. If someone can suggest more ways of contacting Nokia regarding this issue, please tell me! Thanks!

• After installing an SSD into my optical bay, I've found out I need EFI Firmware Update 2.2. I can only find 2.3 which is not supported on my Mac. What can I do?

After installing an SSD into my optical bay, I've found out I need EFI Firmware Update 2.2. I can only find 2.3 which is not supported on my Mac. What can I do?

You do not want EFI 2.2, it bricked many 2011 MacBook Pro machines.
EFI 2.3 is the fix. Software Update should install it if you need it, but it goes to the boot drive as that's where the hidden EFI resides.
Check out this link of machines and their EFI versions
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
Also if your SSD should be in the hard drive bay as it makes a better boot/applicaitions drive, not a good storage drive as it wears out with repeated use and is not "scrubbable" like a regular hard drive
The hard drive should be in the optical bay and used as a storage drive, you have things all messed up inside your machine, Apple doesn't support or expect the optical drive to be used as such to begin with, then as a boot drive is just asking for trouble. So use the optical bay as storage and not as a boot bay.
Also you can't install OS X or Windows or use a Firmware restore disk because it only works from a internal optical drive, which you have removed.
https://support.apple.com/kb/HT2213
You need to learn all about cloning etc., as you have no other means to boot the machine.

• Third party routers that need no firmware update

What are the best third party WiFi routers with LAN ethernet ports that need no firmware update to work with 10.4.8 and Windows XP?

Actually the extra ethernet ports is paramount.
Otherwise you don't know who is being secure to
whom. You end up having two routers to setup for
configuration of security. Simplicity is
important, since I want to be able to help set it up
for the friend, and forget it.
?? That doesn't make any sense - I think you're missing something fundemental here. The extra ethernet ports are on the LAN side of the secure connection. The firewall in the router isolates the internal, LAN network (wireless + ethernet) from the external WAN (aka the big bad internet). Whether or not you have a switch attached to one of the LAN ports makes no difference, security-wise - you are in control of the devices connected to the LAN side of the router. WEP/WPA/WPA2 security controls who is able to connect to the wireless LAN.
From a security standpoint, there is ABSOLUTELY no difference between buying a router with eight lan ports and buying a router with four lan ports plus plugging in a five-port switch to one of the lan ports. It's exactly the same thing.
What you don't control is the WAN side of things - the internet itself. You certainly wouldn't want to connect the switch to the WAN port on the router, at least not unless you wanted to run, say, a web server that is exposed to the internet itself. This wouldn't be a good idea in any case - there are better ways to set this up as well (either by setting up a DMZ, or by setting up port forwards)
There is absolutely no reason why you would want or need two routers for this setup - this is only an issue for extremely large networks.
The WRT54G has 1 WAN port and four LAN ports. You can have four hardwired devices (computers, printers, switches, etc) on these LAN ports - they are protected from the internet by the firewall in the router. You can also have any number of wireless devices on this same router; these, as well, are on the LAN side of the router, and are therefore protected.
Adding a switch to the LAN side of the router has absolutely no impact on security. No additional routers would be required.

Then if you do so, do one machine at a time andcarefully test everything before full deployment.

• Still no firmware update available for E71 RM-346

Hi,
According to Nokia (http://europe.nokia.com/A4577225), there should be a firmware update available for the E71 (update from version 100.07.76 to 110.07.127.
I checked my product code (0569803) on http://europe.nokia.com/A4577224 "Can I update my Nokia device software?" and it tells me, that there is no update available:
"Latest available software for Nokia E71, product code 0569803
Version: 100.07.76" (> same firmware version which I currently have on my phone.)
Does anybody know, when there will be a firmware update available for the E71 with product code 0569803?

• Firmware update available for 6230?

Hi,
new to this so sorry if its all been said before.
I have a 6230 that I am loathe to get rid of, its a good phone, I wondered if there was a firmware update available for my current phone and how much Nokia charge for updating it as it is out of warranty.
Any help/advice would be most appreciated.
Current Nokia software version:
V 05.24
25-11-04
RH-12
GSM P1.1
C

The issues with the 6233 in a carkit are well publicised within these forums, I'll just give you a brief rundown.
No 'lights on always' option, some say this is because of some EU directive, however it is rumoured that the 6233 is prone to screen burn. Either way it's a downright danger at night because your eyes down have time to adjust to the brightness when someone calls you or if you chose to make a call.
You cannot record your own voicetags, an automatic voicetag system is in place for all contacts meaning for example instead of recording your own tag for the contact 'John A Mobile' as 'John', you'll have to say 'John A Mobile' and hope the 6233 understands you and doesn't either give you a list or pick the wrong contact altogether.
Key 2 is now reserved for the video mailbox, so you cannot assign it as a speed dial key.
Ring/Alert tones set at level 5 (maximum) do not ringout at full blast at first, they ascend. Not really an issue with a carkit, just annoys me as I can barely hear the SMS tone.
Apart from all the above, I find the 6233 really good for texting and as a 3g bluetooth modem.
If I had the choice again I'd either stick with the 6230 or put the money towards an offline 6230i for the slightly larger screen and because you don't have to change the cradle.
First use the search to see if your question has already been answered...
Secondly I will not knowingly assist in breaking the forum rules.
My information is always changing, what I post at the time is usually true.

• Need? firmware update on 1.8GH Dual processor G5 PwrMac for Tiger upgrade.

Equipment: refurbed 1.8Ghz PowerMac Dual processor, running OS10.3.9 Panther just fine. CPU's: PowerPC 970 (2.2); Bus speed: 900MHz. Boot Rom: 5.1.4fo
I read on Forums of problems some single processor 1.8 G5's have had with firmware updates prior to attempting to run OS 10.4.3 . I was about to install Tiger 10.4.3, now wonder if it will open a can of worms if I update firmware prior to the install. The reported problems were on machines with bus speed of 600mHz; as mine has a 900mHz bus speed, am I not likely to encounter that difficulty? I would appreciate any input from those familiar with this issue. Sounded like some of the affected owners were really stuck for a long time with that particular problem. Thanks.

Since you did not specify which particular model you have, it's hard to tell you whether a firmware update is even required. Open System Profiler and in the summary look for the Machine Model. If it's 7,2 then 5.1.4 is the current firmware version. If it's 7,3, then 5.1.8 is the current firmware version.

• Advice needed on firmware update-

Hi everyone… I have successfully replaced the HD on my kid’s imac G3 [yay!] but the [secondhand] disk is running a very old version of OS X [10.0.4, I think…]. Can anyone let me know if I need to carry out any firmware updates before installing Tiger? I’d be so grateful for your advice… many thanks!

Hello,
If you need firmware updates, then you'll have to re-install OS 9.1 (or 8.x or whatever version came with your system) to install the updates.
You cannot update the firmware from OS X on the older iMac G3 systems.
If you already have the latest firmware revision, then you may not need to worry about re-installing OS 9 to install the firmware updates at all.
Take a look at this discussion here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2707137&#2707137
That discussion will show you how to check the version of Firmware that you currently have.
This will help to determine if you already do have the latest version installed.
Keep in mind that the firmware revisions shown in this discussion relate to the iMac G3 333 MHz system.
If you have an iMac G3 350 MHz or faster (the ones with the slot-loading CD-ROM Drive), then your firmware revision numbers should be 4.19.
The firmware version / update for the slot-loading CD-ROM drive machines is here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75130
For the older iMac 333 MHz or other iMacs with a tray-loading CD-ROM Drive, the update you would need is here:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60384
Note, that you will need to re-install which-ever version of Mac OS that came with your computer to install these firmware updates.
But, if you find that you already have the latest firmware version for your computer, then you can skip re-installing OS 9 (or whatever came with your system) all-together.
If you cannot make sense out of the numbers you find when comparing them to the update, let me know what the numbers are that you find, and I'll see if I can help you out.
If you do re-install OS 9 or OS 8.6 (whichever is needed for your system's updates), then also consider getting the other updates for your system while you are at it:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58174
You'll find updates for your modem, and CD-ROM drive there.
I hope this helps.

• Firmware updates unavailable for most product code...

Hi,
it's over a month now that Nokia has released the latest 40.x.x firmware for its 5800 model, or should I say to a small, privilleged amount of customers? I have purchased a Nokia 5800 via Amazon.de, totally unbranded, product code is 0578314, and up to now, the new firmware is unavailable. Why does it take so long for the firmware to become available at least for the unbranded country versions? Technically, there seems to be no problem at all, since many users simply change their product code and install the new firmware, but I am asking here for an official way to get the new firmware in time. The massive delay in firmware updates for different product codes is simply a pain for us paying customers who want the latest features available.
Actually, Nokia already is using a similar system. If your phone is unbranded, you still have to consider if its a Regional or Country Variant (similar to the SE phones, and the China versions I stated above). There are basically two types of unbranded handsets: regional generic and country variants.
This fact is not clearly obvious when you buy a phone, so how does a customer know if he gets a CV (copuntry variant) or any other type of phone before buying? When I bought my unbranded 5800XM, I was still thinking that I get a perfect, free phone, and that firmwareupdates can be applied when available. It was absolutely not apparent to me that I would have to wait three months or so, before I can upgrade my phone to a new firmware, once it becomes available

• D-Link DBT-120 USB adapter needs new firmware update from Apple

I purchased a new DBT-120 USB/Bluetooth adapter for use with my iBook (Clamshell). unfortunately, it's not allowing connections to headsets as I intended.
I have a DBT-120 B1 at home which works fine with my headset but that adapter worked only after updating the firmware with Apple's updater.
unfortunately, the firmware updater will not recognise my new DBT-120 which is a C1.
Apple, please update the firmware updater for the new C1... soon!
has anyone else written a firmware updater for the DBT-120 adapters so that headsets can be used with OS X?
regards,
Gregory

I have the same problem w/ my DBT-120 v. C1
I tried installing bluetooth firmware 1.2 and Bluetooth Firmware Updater gives me the error:
"This Bluetooth device is not supported
This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."
I also tried installing version 1.2.1 but during installation that gave me the error: "This update is not needed on this computer."
I have an iMac Intel Core 1 Duo 17" that will hopefully support the headset when it finishes charging, but I would like to be able to use it on the go too.

• FIrst ipod, but needs some firmware updates..

I had avoided ipods up to now because they had no built-in FM radio. Now, one does, and it works much better than my Gen 1 Zune radio, except for the "Live Pause" feature.
Is there any chance that Apple might consider improving this feature in a future firmware update?
1. Live pause rewind/forward buttons moves throug the buffer in very large jumps, making it nearly impossible to find the place you want to resume listening at.
Suggestion: add fine forward/reverse control via the the click wheel. Center button selects the wheel to move though the pause buffer, in addition to tuning and volume.
2. It needs a live pause catch-up mode, where it plays back faster to catch up with the current time. (Fast forwarding skips too much material to be useful for this.)
Suggestion: When in delayed playback mode, play back 10-20% faster, without pitch change, (configurable)
3. If not done already, to preserve battery power, add an unbuffered Live Pause mode, where it does not buffer radio audio until pause is pressed. Once playback catches up with real time, turn off buffering again.
4. If I have the ipod powered off and locked, it should NOT power up again when I connect the headphone cable.
When it does this, I have to unlock again, press and hold pause again, then lock it again, Very frustrating.
5. Timed radio recording. Let me set up a recording schedule to catch a particular show (if the headphone cable is connected.)

• Does the MacBook need a Firmware update?

Hi there,
I was wondering if with this little beast we needs an Update regarding its CPU (Firmware).
Thanks in advance guys.

To run Boot Camp, no. For anything else… that's really up to the Apple-update Gods. Most Macs have at least one firmware update in their lifetimes.

• Bootcamp needs a firmware update that i already have

So i try to tun botocamp but its says i need to download a firmware update. ive already installed mac osx 10.4.7 and i cant find any other downloads on top of that. any ideas?

The firmware you need can be found here:

It doesn't show up in Software update, so that probably explains why you've never seen it.
