Sometime ago I screw up my original account. In the process, I created a new account and somehow deleted the original one. I have some ideas on how I accomplished such thing, but it's a long story that has resulted on the following: My account name is "R. deFernandez" (made up name, of course), but the Home's icon in the Finder (the "house" icon) is not my present account, but the original one.
Also, if I open "Accounts" in the System Preferences, only one account (Admin) is listed, and this is my present account, not the original. If I open the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, and then the Accounts folder, only the original account, not my present account is shown.
Now, this information I am about to tell you may be of benefit to some: trying to update Office 2004, and also MS Messenger results on the following warning: "Warning. The following disk images failed to mount. Image: office2004-1123Update. Reason: invalid checksum."
I have unsuccessfully tried to update both applications with the help of both Apple technicians and Mactopia, and just today I realized that both updaters can't update the applications mentioned, simply because their respective installers follow the path through the original account. Sooo, whatever you do, don't mess around with the original account's name (the first admin. account created on your hard drive).
Now, here is where I am asking you for help: is there a way where I can reinstall Mac OS 10.4 without erasing the hard drive, AND so when I start the iMac I can use the Set-Up Assistant to create a new (virgin) account?

Open the NetInfo Manager in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, locate your account in the list of users, and change the last part of its home property to match the desired setting; if you aren't sure which account is yours, look for one with a numeric UID of 501 or above. Don't delete or alter any other accounts, groups, or properties. Next, open the Users folder in the Finder and change the name of the item in the home folder to match what you entered in the NetInfo Manager. When you've done this, log out and back in; if this procedure was successful, your home icon will be the present name of your account. If not, you will have a brand new home folder and can migrate your data from the old one.
An account's name and home properties can be changed independently from each other, and a home folder does not need to be in /Users/.

It depends on fact that when you want to create the incentive.
If you want to create at the time of invoicing, then you have to enhance event R402.
If you want to create at the time of payment, the you have to enhance event 0032.

Need help from RAM expert before purchasing.

I have tried google searching for awhile and am at the point of just asking on the forums to get the best possible information. I am trying to figure out whether I would really see any performance improvements by changing from the RAM I currently have to a different type. I have read some conflicting information with my setup that leads me to believe I may not see any improvements with speed increase as my AMD CPU may still run at 1333 still. Also my current RAM, although older and slower speed has a lower CAS latency time which makes me think I may not see any difference between my current RAM and new RAM I am considering. I honestly am not sure though which is why I want to ask an expert about this. Here is more details on what I am looking at: System details:Motherboard: Giga-Byte GA-790XTA-UD4

I appreciate you letting me know! :-) Now the next question is; I know some folks recommend not throwing in different types of RAM together but maybe it won't really matter. My board has 4 slots with the two existing RAM sticks currently running in paired mode. What would be the recommended method for upgrading to 8GB to see the best possible peformance on my setup (i.e. add two 2GB sticks in the empty slots, or just add a single 4GB stick, or buy two 4GB sticks and replace current RAM with)? If I can get away with just adding 4GB to the existing setup what specific RAM do you recommend that I buy from you all to get the best performance and compatibility with current setup? Thanks!

Need help from an expert regarding fingerprint scanning, ONLY AT HOME?!?!

Ok people... You might think I'm crazy, but let me tell you what I'm going through.
I recently purchased an iPhone 5S and I love it. But, I am having the strangest problem. Whenever the phone is plugged in at home, the fingerprint scanner doesn't work (for adding new fingerprints or unlocking from lock screen)!!! As soon as I disconnect lightning cable, it works as it should...
So I assumed something was wrong with the phone. I brought it to the Apple Store, and plugged it into one of their display lightning stands, worked just fine. Tried one of their lightning cables with USB AC adapter, worked just fine.
Did I have a bad cable at home? A bad wall adapter? Here is where it gets weird... I have three lightning cables and three wall adapters and all of them exhibit this symptom. I also have the problem with when trying to plug into many other devices in my house via USB (Yamaha receiver, APC battery backup, Panamax line conditioner, etc).
If I plug the phone into my Targus cigarette lighter in my car, it works as it should. If I plug into my Morphie battery pack, it works as it should. But anytime I plug into something that ultimately leads to my AC electrical at home, it doesn't work!!!! What is odd, is that I have zero problems with any other devices at my house. And it is only the fingerprint scanner that has issues. It charges fine and does everything the way it should, but not fingerprint. I have checked my electrical system, and it seems fine.
Another odd tidbit, If I plug the phone into my MBA while on DC power, it works fine, but as soon as I plug in the MBA AC adapter, the phone exhibits the same problem. I think my electrical system needs an exorcism or something. (Again, EVERYTHING else in the house works fine on these outlets).
I have iOS 7.0.1, and have tried both soft resets and hard resets. This is 100% reproduceable and very strange. If anyone has any thoughts, please let me know. I will keep you posted of any updates...

Emanx32, sorry to hear you are having the same issue. Sadly, I'm happy to know I'm not the only one. I was starting to think I was in some sort of tech Twilight Zone. Now that the fingerprint scanner has been publicly hacked, I have it off for the time being (it's actually less secure with it on.) However, I would still like to know what is causing this issue.
Again, if I get any new updates, I will keep you people posted!

This is not strictly true... The G4 will work as a Node, though the benefit of it will be minimised.
It wirks pretty simply and you won't do any harm (especially your wallet), giving it a try.
Make sure you install the equivalent version (extremely important) of the Logic Node application on your G4 and run it.
Launch Logic on your G5, open preferences/ Audio / Nodes. Provided you have your computers networked correctly (I am assuming you have done this), the Node computer will be listed there. You can then activate it, if listed.
Assigning a track to a Node is done in the arrange window (view / Node buttons, needs to be enabled) .. Click the Node button and voila!!
It is important to note that only Logic plugins (with the exception of EXS24 and, I think, Ultrabeat) can be processed by a Node.

Pulling out my Hair, need some help from experts out there

Hi - I have been struggling with an issue for a week now and I was wondering if one of you can help me to solve my issue. I have done numerous searches on this topic which got me somewhat in the right direction but I'm still not getting the results I want. The end objective is simple, a non-stuttering video on YouTube. Sounds simple right?
here is what I did:
I have recorded some aerial footage with a GoPro 3+, added some effects in After effects, brought the results over in Premiere pro for some minor editing and then used Media encoder to get it to a format that youtube likes. My detailed steps are as follows:
-Take GoPro footage (59.94 fps, 1920 x 1080 in H.264 codec) and transcode it through GoPro studio using the CineForm codec so it plays nice with AE (I keep my 59.94 fps and same dimensions (1920 x 180).
-Load transcoded footage in AE (I checked if my composition settings are the same as the imported transcoded footage)
-Apply effects (3d camera tracking, add some 3d text, some lights, environment layer) and render the clip out as a quicktime lossless file (PNG) – result is 3 clips from AE that I now want to bring into Premiere Pro for some editing
-Import PNG file in Premiere Pro (I drag the clip to new sequence item so the sequence matches the clip I import in Premiere pro)
-I make some minor edits in Premiere Pro (some transitions between clips, nothing fancy)
-I then render out the footage using media encoder (or directly from Premiere, tried both) with the following settings:
Format: h.264
Preset: custom
Export video and audio
TV standard: NSTC
Frame width: 1920
Frame height: 1080
FPs: 29.97 or 59.94 (results/problem is the same with both fps settings)
Field order: progressive (greyed out – can’t change it)
Pixel aspect ratio: 16:9 – widescreen
Profile: main
Level: 4.2 or 5.1 (same result for both settings)
Render at maximum depth: checked
Bitrate encoding: VBR, 2 pass
Target bitrate: 8 or 20 (same result with both settings but obviously larger file with higher target rate)
Maximum bitrate: 8 or 25 (same results for both settings)
Use maximum render quality: checked
Audio, multiplexer etc: standard settings, no change
The rendered video runs smoothly on my mac but when uploading this video to youtube, the video stutters. I have tried multiple settings and can’t get the video to play smooth. Any tips or suggestions are welcome!

Rick has given you what you need, he always does.
But the task you've described is not simple at all. It's not really an After Effects issue.
There are many sites that offer good recommendations for maximizing your youtube workflow so your video looks the best and plays flawlessly. Youtube offers a good set of parameters. Some of this stuff is worthless, too. You've got to be selective.
Starting out delivering a full 1080HD clip is not necessarily going to work out for you. Try rendering out to a 720 file. It's far smaller so it will be compressed much less by it's upload processor. The playback may be smoother and your audience is not going to be able to tell the difference between the 720 and a 1080 clip, most of the time.
Encourage you to drop back someday and let us know how you made out with Rick's advice.

My Apple album discovery widget does not function correctly and I needed a little help from an expert

Hi,
I can't get my official iTunes album discovery widget from Apple.com to play audio on my website. If you hit view, it will take you to the iTunes page, which is very good, but if you press play on my website where I have the widget displayed, the buttons for play and stop move and seem to function, but no audio. I contacted Apple app software, but they said they are not responsible for their own widgets and to contact the Apple Support Community. I even put major label acts into the widget and they did not work either and I am thinking this could be a widget that just never worked correctly in the first place. I think it just needs a tweak to fix it in the code, but I can't figure anymore out.

Hope u get round to following this up. I had the same problem and got a quick response from sending message via phg console. They told me to install QuickTime Player and it worked fine for me. That is if your country has an iTunes Music Store.

If I were you I would get my computer serviced because it has a faulty keyboard. The '.' key seems to stick down whenever used, the Caps key does not seem to work at all and many keys seem only to work intermittently.
Overall it makes your posting just about impossible to read.

I'm designing a game on an applet that I do not intend on putting on any webpage. In the game I am tryin to add an image to use. The code that I am using works because I've seen it work before. However, I am having problems with the security stuff. The images are protected and I can't seem to bypass the security to get my images. How can I make it so there will be no compile-time error with loading the images from my own computer?? Thanks.

If you don't intend putting it on a web page then why write an applet? Applications run without security restrictions so that would seem a better solution.

Need help from an expert!

I was wondering if anyone on this forum would know of a solution to our current issue. Basically we had our web designer set up an online viewing system for our clients, attached to our website, using Adobe Air. At the moment, each client has their own username/password which directs them into their private online gallery space, where they can view the different jobs which we have done for them. Our problem is that some of these clients have clients of their own who need to see the photos as well, but cannot be allowed access to the username/password, as this would allow them to not only see the job relevant to them but also every other job done for our client. So here's my question.......
Is it possible, when uploading a new job to a clients gallery, to have an option where you can create a new 'guest' password that allows access to only that specific uploaded folder, and not to everything else in that viewing gallery?
If so, is it a case of writing new code to enable this feature and is it difficult/time-consuming/expensive????

I am in the middle of the most frustrating series of events ever and its an absolutre shambles. What should have been a simple house move and resign up with BT (after many years a customer) has been a ridiculous farce. We had a connection date. You cancelled it for resaons that initially werent made clear. We rang to sort it out several times, were put through to many different departments, hung up on twice (professional CS!) have spent nearly 5 hours on the phone. Have now had our order cancelled 3 times. No one at BT has actually helped, plenty of apologies but these do not resolve the issue. We are now told, one month after initial connection date that you dont have control of the line??? You will have known this from the first attempt. To cap it all, someone from - I presume overseas call centre ( bad english, complete lack of understanding of basic conversation - not for the first time) has just rang and asked if we want to place an order as the last order has been cancelled. This will be the latest of a list or "orders" with no resolution. People that work dont have the time to be on the phone for numerous hours being passed from pillar to post with no sign of a resolution.
I have complained through the complaints email, guess what, no response.

I dont hold out much hope of anyone at BT being interested in sirting this out, but heres hoping

Need some help from the management : A deeply dissatisfied customer

I hope I am one of the very dissatisfied customers of you company. I bought a new T715 and it has already gone for a repair twice. I gave it for repair for the first time in october (ETA was 20 days and told by the service centre) and I got the phone after some 30days only after an intervention of a manager. Prior to that the customer care was saying that they do not have the parts and they have no idea about how much time the repair is gonna take. Surprisingly it took only 2day once the manager intervened.
When I was submitting the phone on jan 14th 2011(work order number SE311MM110015), they again said that I'll get my phone back in 20 days. This time I expected that the service center guys will learn some thing from the past incidents and provide me a better service. But this time it was even worse. I did not hear from them for 35 days. So I called the customer care and had a long conversation with them on the service that is being provided but no-one including the floor supervisor(nishant) had a clue about what happening with my phone. I was startled by thier reply that they will start working on it as I have registered the complaint. Then I asked them what were they doing till now for which they had no idea. I asked for an escalation of this case to a manager which they refused. They said that I'll get an update after 48 working hours(5days).
The episode continues. I called the help desk after 5days. Now their reply is that I will get my phone back on march 10 2011. So, it is some 57 days since the day i submitted the phone which is 3 times the ETA they promosed. Now when I ask them why is it taking so long I get the same reply as I got for the first time that they do not have parts. The I told them I cannot accept this kind of service from a company like sony erricsson for the second time. For this the floor supervisor harish said that If I want my phone back earlier they'll return the piece back to me without repairing and they are not responsible for this. This time I again asked for a managerial escalation which they again refused and asked me to call after 2 days. Can I atleast hope for a positive reply this time??
I am perfectly okay with one device out of a lakh being defective. I understand this is the reason that you provide the customers a warranty. But I have some issues with the support which you are providing:
1) Managerial escalations : I think I am entitled to talk to some one who can actually solve my issue when the lower level doesn't solve it in time. I do not understand why I am being denied the escalation which I did not find in any other support. They do not even provide me an email ID of a manager.
2) Support process : What is the use of those processes in place where the people I am talking have no idea of what the next step should be. They do not have the database or knowledge of the previous cases. Even the floor supervisor have no aswers to the legitamate questions that the customer poses, they talk as if they are not responsible for these issues.
3) Time taken: Taking some days to provide the customer a mere update is not how a 21st century support should work.
I hope you people agree with my ideas. And please I request all the managers who stumble upon this thread to reply and guide me about my next action.

When I asked for a manager escalation they dropped the call... And surprisingly they started dropping my calls which is not at all acceptable...
Please managers... I need to talk to you... I need my phone back repaired....
