Need a help to config 1841 router!

Hi all,
Could someone tell me,can I configure two ISP on one Fast Ethernet port. We have a client, bougth a 1841 Modular router without aditional WAN cards. So, the router hes only two interfases. In this moment, we use one interfase for internal LAN and other for ISP. But the client want to has second ISP.

Mariya
Whether you can do that depends on some details that you have not given us.
It is possible to configure more than one IP address on a FastEthernet interface using secondary addresses. So you could configure the address used by one ISP as primary and configure the address used by the other ISP as secondary. For this to work both ISP would need to give the client an Ethernet handoff and you would need a small Ethernet switch to connect the router FastEthernet to both ISPs.

  • Need help regarding Cisco 1841 Router

hello everyone , i am need of help regarding configuring of   FE 0/1 port. our company have a cisco 1841 router. The serial 0/0/0 is connected with VSAT for internet. The FE 0/0 is connected to switch(LAN) through which net connectivity is provided to all users. Recently a new VSAT has been installed at our site, with different IP series. So every time we want to switch between the two net connectivity we need to change the entire IP configuration of all users, which in turn prohibits the users from accessing the printers, data servers etc which are been set to our existing IP series. So, my idea was to configure the FE 0/1, so that just by changing the DNS will help us providing internet along with all other devices without changing the entire IP series. The new VSAT modem has a lan cable which can be connected to FE 0/1. Can any one help out in solving the problem. Our existing IP series is 192.168.3.1..... and the new VSAT series is 10.205.74.1......

Do I understand correctly that you will have 20 remote users who will telnet to the 2511 and from the 2511 will use reverse telnet to access the console of router1, router2, router3, etc which have their console ports connected to async ports of the 2511? If that understanding is correct then the firewall only needs to open TCP port 23 for telnet. The other ports (2001, 2002, etc) are between the 2511 and router1, router2, etc and will not be seen by the firewall. If my understanding is not correct then please clarify.
I do not believe that you will find an image for the 2500 that supports SSH.

  • Need help, VPN between 1841 router & PIX 501

Trying to setup a VPN between an 1841 router at HQ with static IP connecting to remote office with a PIX 501 and a persistent IP (not static, but Mediacom has mapped PIX MAC this IP so I always get same public IP even on equip reboot). I have configured both sides but tunnel will not come up, must be missing something.

  • In desperate need of help trying to get router installed

    Hi,
I have a macbook and I have just bought a Belkin router and have put the setup disk in the drive. It says to open up the disk and click start.osx.
When I do this it just says 'There is no default application specified to open the document "start.osx"
Then offers me the choice to choose application.
What do I do? Please help me before I lose all my hair!
    Thanks

I concur with the previous suggestion. I find the "setup wizards" to be useless at worst or poor at best. I'm thinking the only useful thing on that setup CD is the user manual.
I think Belkin's usual web interface is at http://192.168.2.1:88 . That's what I recall from trying to get one working. Plug it in via the ethernet cable and try accessing the configuration from there. HTTP (web-page style) interfaces work great although sometimes you need to hunt around for all the steps you need. Even someone who uses a setup wizard will need to use the standard web-based configuration screens for more advanced settings and monitoring.

  • Need huge help on my router WRT120 N thanks

Hi, new here, really needed some help regarding my Linksys router WRT 120 N, which i bought not too long ago. Long story short, had it for ps3 online and it worked terrific, tried to get it too connect with the 360 and a disaster.
My idea was too uninstall anything Linksys has and then reinstall the same router. I figured that way i could go back to the previous settings before i tinkered with them for the 360, and just start fresh with a new SSID and have an easier time that way. So i tried, a number of times, but everytime i do, it says the program/router is already installed, leaving me with little to no idea what to do to get it back to workign with the ps3, let alone ever trying for the 360.
By the way, as you may tell, im pretty much tech illiterate, didnt grow up around it and now that i have it, it confuses me quite alot. I feel most comfortable just figuring out how to uninstall it, that is my preference, but if some one knows how i can fix it without doing that and getting my 360 and ps3 online with it,  would also appreciate that. I migth not understand lingo, but im very driven to get this over with, i have been pulling my hair out for  hours trying with my very limited knowledge.
Again, any help and all help is so so very appreciated, thank you so much in advance.
If you need any other information, please dont hesistate to ask me.

Before using the setup program again, you will need to reset your router to factory defaults.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is likely dead. Report back with this problem
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. Report back with this problem.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • Help needed with AT&T 3G MicroCell going through 1841 Router

I am trying to get an AT&T 3G MicroCell (made by Cisco) to communicate to the Internet through our Cisco 1841 Router.
The router has only basic NAT  and no Firewall setting.
The AT&T 3G MicroCell is not a configurable device and it directly connected to a switch port on the router.
DHCP is supplied to it by the router.
We are using Comcast Business Class modem but it is set as a passive gateway pass through device so by passing the router is not an option.
The MicroCell is unable to establish connectivity with the AT&T auto-configuration on the Internet.
So far AT&T support has not been very helpful or knowledgeable.
Anyone have experience with the MicroCell device and connectivity?
They recommend some advanced settings for UPD and TCP ports but the router shows them as open.
    It primarily uses ipsec ports
    Any ideas?

I have this same issue with the MicroCell plugged directly into the WAN (DHCP) connection to the house from the ISP...................
I also have this same issue with the unit plugged into the DMZ on the router with pass all, all protocol's in and out .....
My problem is GPS related, as in the new 911 database has "virtually" moved my 2 bedroom house 4 miles east of my "physical" location.
Ain't modern tech great......(now if we could just get people great)  only problem with high tech is............GARBAGE IN >> GARBAGE OUT........it still depends on "intelligent" life to program everything.

  • Need basic Help - SG300 with vlan and routing

    Hi,
i need some basic help with configuring vlan/routing.
    Situation:
    DSL Router - Cisco 300 - XenServer
    192.168.1.253 - 192.168.1.19 - 192.168.1.10 (mgmt ip)
goal is, to reach from inside xenserver vms the internet.
    vms = 192.168.2.x
    gateway ip = 192.168.2.1
    what i did:
    - configured vlan 102, tagged, with the xenserver port
    - configured on xenserver a network with vlan id 102, attached to the vm
    - this network is conntected to an external bond
    - configured ipva4 interface: vlan102 - Static - IP 192.168.2.1 (this is the gateway ip of the vms)
    - automatic configured IPv4 Route: 192.168.2.0/24 next hop 0.0.0.0, Directly connected
So at the moment i cant ping from inside a vm to the DSL Router (192.168.2.2 to 192.168.1.253)
any ideas what i misconfigured or whats wrong?
    cheers,
    -Marco

    Hi Tom,
ok, that make sense. I can ping the router now inside vms from 192.168.2.x network.
But i cant ping external adresses, error: Destination net unreachable.
My other problem i have, i cant reach any server from outside over router portforwarding.
How do i have to configure the upload port to the dsl router? Is it a access port or a trunk
port with all vlans (tagged or untagged?) At the moment ive a tagged Trunkport with all vlans.
    IPv4 Interface Table
    Interface
    IP Address Type
    IP Address
    Mask
    Status
    VLAN 1
    Static
    192.168.1.19
    255.255.255.0
    Valid
Should the VLAN1 ip adress not the router ip adress ? Do i need an additional vlan for
the router ? At the end i like to change the switch ip from dhcp to static (change automaticly
when switching to layer 3 mode), but ive to look for the ios commands first.
What else do i missing ?
    Thanks a lot,
    Marcus

  • DlSW/SDLC 1841 ROUTER.

I have just tried to implement by first 1841 router.
    I used the same template that I have for over 400 sites ( 1600 , 1700 , 2500 and 3600 series routers )
I get the dlsw peers established no problem.
The problem is on the serial interface in the router.
It is an IBM 5494 controller .
Here is the configuration that I have for the serial interface.
I have added the routers configuration.
Any ideas??? Is there something that I need to add to the serial interface on the 1841's that was not required before ???
My IOS is (C1841-ENTBASE-M), Version 12.3(11)T2
    tks.

    Hi,
please open a case with the tac. There have been a few problems with sdlc and 12.3T, also there are some issues depending on the hardware you are using.
The Tac will help you to collect all the needed information to understand your problem and then guide you to a resolution.
    thanks...

  • Do I need privilege exec level commands in router?

Do I need privilege exec level commands in router if the user was setup in TACACS server with specific privilege exec already?
The user is getting "Command authorization failed" error even was setup with "priv-lvl = 4" for TACACS server.
If changed to AAA with local authentication then is fine without privilege exec level 4 commands in router.

If you are using command authorization then privilage doesn't matter.
Best way to set it up is to give all user priv lvl 15 and then define what all commands user can execute.
Note : Having priv 15 does not mean that user will able to issue all commands.
We will set up command authorization on acs to have control on users.
This is how your config should look,
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
    aaa authorization config-commands
aaa accounting commands 1 default start-stop group tacacs+
aaa accounting commands 15 default start-stop group tacacs+

  • ACL's ON Cisco 1841 Router

Can you let me know what is the maximum no of ACL's that can be configured on Cisco 1841 router ?

Hmm I don't know if such metric is available out there. Perhaps a call/case with Cisco TAC would help! How many ACLs and ACEs do you need/plan to configure?
