I need a HP Touchsmart 610z for a research study to be conducted for 3 days from 20th April in San Francisco. It was too late by the time I found out that this AIO is only available on the HP online store and cannto be delivered before 20th April. Can anyone please suggest a way out?

TouchSmart 610z CyberLink Media Library Service issue with Windows Home Server Connector
After unboxing and configuring my TouchSmart 610z PC at one point I noticed that they TouchSmart "Photo" app stopped working. Whenever I launched the app, I would get an error message stating that "Cyberlink MediaLibrary Service has stopped".
I called HP support and after trying several things, the rep advised me to do a full system recovery (Factory Defaults). After the recovery, I started configuring (installing software and tweaking settings) and at some point the same thing happened again. I tried to go back to various system restore points, but once the problem starts ocurring, it persists.
After another fully system recovery, I started installing/configuring things 1-by-1 and testing the Photo app after each step (VERY time-consuming). Finally I discovered that the "Windows Home Server Connector" software is what seems to cause the problem. The connector itself works as intended, but there seems to be some conflict with the TouchSmart Photo app that causes the error message to appear/persist. For what it's worth, my Home Server is an HP MediaSmart Server EX475.
Anyone successfully connect their TouchSmart 610 to their home server and successfully run the TouchSmart Photo App?
Seems like this might be a bug of some sorts.I see some message about a proxy. Have you checked that you can use the proxy from you network?
If not you should turn the proxy off.

Advice desperately needed - is a MacBook right for me?
Hi guys,
I am a hardcore PC user, and know them and Windows inside out. However, I have had zero/nada/zilch experience with Macs. The closest I've been is moving around a cursor on a demo iMac many years ago.
Which brings me to my current slightly complex situation. I'll try and get straight to the point, so please bear with me:
- I have an Alesis MultiMix 8x Firewire audio mixing unit, which as you have probably guessed runs on a Firewire interface. I need it to be mobile for business use.
- The Alesis works absolutely fine on my desktop PC, which has a built-in 6-pin Firewire port. My desktop PC, however, is not mobile. But when tested with my IBM laptop, the Alesis is very inconsistent and unreliable, with disconnections, audio dropouts and generally very fussy behaviour.
- I do not have a built-in Firewire port on my laptop, but rather use a PCMCIA interface which has 6-pin Firewire inputs. However, in practice they may as well be four-pin Firewire ports because they do not shift power. To do this, I have to connect an AC/DC adapter to an auxillary jack on the PCMCIA card which will then deliver the requisite electricity. It is not elegant at all and the whole thing looks like a mess.
- Research I have conducted has led me to believe that for many people with the Alesis unit, using it with a four-pin (or non-powered six) Firewire port can be a bit difficult. It seems that even though the Alesis is actively powered with it's own supply, the little power there is running through the cable makes some kind of difference.
- As it stands I could make things work, but it really is a mess, especially physically with that little power cable going into the PCMCIA interface which could pop out at any time. And ss it happens, I need a new laptop for the business anyway.
You see where I am going with this?
Macs are the only laptops that I know of which come with built-in six-pin Firewire ports. They are therefore ideal given my circumstances. I think.
Will I be able to run Windows XP natively on the new MacBook without any real issues? Specifically, I need the the Firewire port to work perfectly and for the whole thing to run stable. I also need it to be compatible with PC audio-editing software, like Cubase, Sonar and Adobe Audition. Any known issues?
The other alternative I guess is to use the Alesis on the Mac OS, but I know nothing about the interface, so unfamiliarity breeds contempt in this case. I am sure that I will love it once I get used to it, as everyone says Windows is a clunky old dinosaur compared to it, but for the moment perhaps I will stick with Windows as learning time is not a luxury I have.
So, over to you guys. Thanks so much for reading if you've kept up this far. What do you think? I am open to ANY suggestion, as I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to Macs!

I've just looked at the differences, and with the possible exception of hard-drive speed, there is nothing that I need for the business that the Pro offers. The purpose of the unit will be to record and multi-track four simultaneous speech streams. That's about it.
Nothing particularly demanding for today's laptops, even the basic MacBook I would've thought.
I'm in Malaysia, and customer service isn't really a strongpoint here, but in the interests of the Mac brand and converting PC users I may just see if the local resellers are happy to let me tinkle.

I wear hearing aids that are made for Apple, the audio will go into the hearing aids via Bluetooth. I'll need to use my phone for voice only.. I drive for work and have a wok oh one too and both are synced to a bluetooh headset (LG). I'm trying to figure out how to talk on both phones ( use speakerphone on work phone?) without using a bluretooh headset. I don't know the range of the microphone on the IPHON, thinking about hanging it around my neck or put the phone into a stand/holder on the dash and use the speakerphone feature. Upgrading RAM and your HD will give you some performance gains, but depending on what you are doing, it may not be enough. Your best friend will always be processor speed. This has a direct relation to how many cores and the speed of the RAM.
However, if you are unable to spring for a new computer, then the options of running more RAM and a biggger, faster HD should ruduce some bottle necks.

When I open iTunes, I receive an error that reads "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. Sorry for the convenience." When I click to see the error, it reads "AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 10.5.2.11 ModName: msvcr80.dll" Why ? I am overly frustrated. Please help. Not exactly sure which operating system I have. It is a dell laptop with xp.

1. In Add/Remove Programs I deleted all Apple products (iTunes, QuickTime, Safari, Bonjour, etc.)
2. I then check C:\Program Files\ and made sure all folders were deleted (QuickTime, etc.)
3. I then ran a Registry Cleaner program to make sure all entries from Apple products were removed.
4. I then rebooted my PC
5. I then downloaded iTunes8.0.2 from here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/ipod_itunes/itunes802forwindows.html
6. After it installed it said it could use my iTunes library file because it was created with a newer version. So I re-created my library by following these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451
It took some time but iTunes is now back up and running. And I have all my playlists, etc. I haven't tried to sync anything yet. I'm just thrilled to have my iTunes back! -

1. project.start_date and project.end_date must be the latest project_end_date for the same emp
so in the above sample date
2. No. of time assigned is a count of total of number records which have status='assign'
