Need a networking guru to advise me, please!
I have a camera (Dlink DCS-930L) connected to a Linksys WRT160NL router. The camera works find and I can view it via the Dlink website, but ... even though the router supports uPnP (which is supposed to allow you to view the camera live with no time limit) I can only view for 60 seconds. My provider isn't blocking uPnP so I don't know what's going on.
Anyway, I tried to bypass the Dlink website by
1 - setting the camera up to port 8080
2 - setting the router to port forward 8080 to the camera
Now when I type in my address:8080 I can see the camera, but since I'm on DHCP the ip address will change. I want to use something link Dyndns, but I'm not sure how to set this up. My dilemma is that I'm not sure if the router should be set up with dyndns or the camera? Since my router acts as a dns server the camera's IP will change, but so will the router's. Am I making sense?
Any help appreciated!
Nevermind. I got some advice on another site and have
1 - created a dhcp reservation on the router for the camera
2 - now using dnydns on the router.
For now, at least, everything is working fine.

I am not a network engineer or MS network expert, but have spent many hours researching docs and sites without a clear reason to explain
the situation.
I have a client with 2x 2008R2 mirror servers. When the app fails, the primary server switches to secondary server as usual; however a connecting Unix application (on another segment) somehow cannot see the Virtual IP at that point and the situation is disastrous.
The IP (v4) for server A is x.x.x.10 and server B is x.x.x.11 whereas the VIP is x.x.x.99.
Reading hordes of MS related docs it seems the answer is to avoid having the the VIP larger that the server IP addresses, meaning the VIP be x.x.x.9 or smaller. The Unix application now connects successfully as the failover on the MS servers flip-flops.
Is this due to RFC 3484, Default Address Selection for IPv6 (February 2003) rules being imposed on ip4 as implemented? If so which rule and can you explain is digestible manner?
Or OTOH this is a MS default of take the smallest IP number bound to the card as the primary outbound address (this I understand is how it was pre 2008R2)
Or is there something else I have missed?

Regarding to the description, I suggest you move the Unix application (on another segment) to the same segment as the mirror servers'. It will avoid some factors from middle devices. As you have the issue only on the Unix application.
If we need to know why the failover is not working well when apps fails. We could gather the netmon traces between the servers to verify which one reject the request.

i have 1TB hard drive i cant drag or sent to it although i can view it on my desk top do i need to format the hard drive ? please advise
If the format is NTFS, which it likely is, then follow Ralph's advice, but youmay also want to partition it with GUID partition table.
In Disk Utility, select the drive, then Partiiton tab.
Choose 1-partition from the popup menu.
Click the Options button (it is only enabled if you change the partition layout, above).
Select GUID partition table.
Then, give the drive a Name and format of Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
If you wish to use the drive with Windows, use MSDOS or exFAT. MSDOS will limit files sizes to 2GB. Some think exFAT is flakey. -

Good day. May I ask if anyone experienced this error when trying to access remoteapps in Azure? We are using IaaS and set-up RDS using Windows 2012 R2 but we are getting an error below.
"Your connection was denied because of a Network Access Policy (TS_NAP). Please contact your server administrator.
Various roles and services (Broker, Session Host, RD Gateway and Web Access are installed on each VMs).

AirPlay not showing on iPad anywhere. I've tried all of the rebooting functions and checked the control centre to no avail. The wifi networks are the same. Please help, thanks.

Need getting network list with Network Manager
I have not been able to get the list of networks to show up in Network Manager. I tried the NM wiki but still no luck. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed both the bcm43xx and the bm43 firmware in an attempt to get it working. Could one or the other be causing a conflict?
When I tried to modprobe either of the two I get something like "invalid operation."
When I do
b43-fwcutter -w "/lib/firmware/" wl_apsta_mimo.o
it gives me an error saying the input doesn't exist.
edit: Could I get this moved to the wireless section?

I get no wireless signal inside my home, only outside, so I need a network extender that will work for the Lumia 2520, Specs indicate it uses LTE FDD netork Band 20 (800MHz), Band 3 (1800MHz), Band 7 (2600 MHz). Does Verizon offer a network extender that will work with the Lumia 2520?

Do I need to network unlock after updating to iOS 6?
Some people sat that after updating to ios6 they can't connect wifi. Do I need to network unlock my iPod touch? Is it needed? And tell me something about speakers and earphone after updating?

What is needed to network 2 computers using Airport card
I know I need an airport card in my eMac, but is there any other cards that have to be in the computer? I want to network my eMac with an iMac using a DSL line. The eMac will be downstairs and the iMac will be upstairs. I'm waiting for delivery from Apple of the iMac. It has everything built in that is needed to network but my eMac doesn't. To make my eMac wireless is all I have to buy is an Airport Card and a Wireless Gateway for the iMac which is the computer connected to the DSL modem and Wireless USB adapter with connects to the eMac? What type of Airport Card do I need to buy for my eMac (model #'s etc.) It is the card that inserts above the super drive in the front of the computer. Is there any software that is needed to install Airport?
I am also doing some configuration changes (we have one Imac and two eMac's)
but one eMac does not have a airport card and is hardwired (ethernet) to the high speed cable modem then a apple airport. One Imac and the Emac with a airport card work fine, it is a bit tricky finding the correct airport card (or airport extreme card if you have a ATI graphics card (use about the mac/system profiler then click on more to see if you have a graphics card (which affects which airport card you need, there are alot of resellers on the net so you should find what you want.
If in doubt there is a free program mactracker which provides data on every mac made (available off off versiontracker.com (free site just register) it will guide
you on the type of card needed. I was quite amazed at the amount of different spec eMac's made in their relativealy short history.
Macwireless.com does sell eMac cards (for two models) but also antenna type
or flash drive appearing USB based wireless connectors that may help.
I found the mactracker program helpful (alot) as alot of web sites provide some vague info and I would hate to se you get stuck with a non returnable card.
The actual card install does not look hard (its done through the cd rom drive door.
I am not sure why we did not get a airport card for ours when we bought it.
Wish I did as it would have saved some $ (maybe) and surf time making sure I find the right one.
We did have a antenna wireless antenna for a "green" Imac (long gone) and it ran on OS9 but it was finicky when we had the airport base station upstairs
and the Imac and antenna in the basement (about 50-75 feet)

when i try to update itunes and quicktime, it stops me and says " The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" please help.
Before trying the update again, use Microsoft's Fix it solution at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall. Use it to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime. It bypasses this not uncommon problem. When the solution finishes, the selected program will be uninstalled. It can take several minutes and I have seen as much as half an hour.
After iTunes & Quicktime are uninstalled, try the update again. -
I am new to Final Cut Express and don't understand why I am unable to drag transitions into Canvas? Something wrong in my setup? It's not the overlays they are "on" so can anyone advise me please, by the way the "L" doesn't appear in the bottom left hand corner either? and by the way how can I get rid of that irritating Blue badge saying "AutoFill your contact details" all mine are in "address book" already!
You can't drag a transition into the canvas. If you're dragginmg a transition from the effects tab you drag it between the edit point of two clips in the timeline.
Make sure show edit overlays is turned on in the Canvas view popup. -

Hi, I need some networking help/advice. My neighbor asked if she can use my wifi to stream tv/movies only. I couldn't say no because I felt bad and didn't want to say i didnt trust them. So I hooked up a Netgear router for the wifi while connecting my gaming systems by ethernet to my modem… I tested the wifi from the Netgear system and it seemed to be working. I stepped a way for a while and decided to check it again & was able to connect to the NETGEAR but not the internet anymore….. I know I made no changes but couldn’t find the problem until i ran the network diagnostics on my MacBook…. it created a diagnostic log and suddenly repaired the connection. Is it possible the neighbor was trying to access my local network and caused problems to the wifi?… how do I find something like this and is there a way to give her access without exposing any of my devices?… and is the way i’ve chosen to do it even protecting at all??….
