Hope all are doing good !
Today i have a requirement wherein i want to develop a Platform which will immediately notify me or my group when any batch job failed in the SAP system. The notification should be in the form of Email, Mobile SMS, etc if available.
We are having a Third party tool in which we monitor, restart,hold & stop batch jobs as per requirement, if client having any month end activities on weekend this creates problem for them and hampers their invoices/billing as we don't work on weekends !
So how to setup my requirement if i am having a batch job monitoring third party tool & SAP system from which i expect to get immediate alerts for certain people.

As per your thought if i will schedule anything that will be a system performance issue here. Consider i am having 'N' number of jobs to take in action if this fix gonna work, so here i do not want to increase the load on system because already batch jobs are failing due to this reason only.
Can you please explain it briefly if i want to explain it to technical team. Will be appreciated !!

Need Mac Platform not Windows

I bought Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard Student and Teacher Edition and was given the Windows platform not the Mac platform and can't use it now. Please help, tried calling adobe they say they can't help, trying to talk online and everyone just keeps transferring me from person to person saying theres nothing they can do.

Platform-independent handling of newlines in captions

LR 3 should handle newlines in captions in a platform-independent manner.
Currently on Windows, captions containing newlines represented by a single newline character ("\n") don't display properly in the Metadata panel, both in the Default and Large Caption presets. Only newlines represented DOS-style ("\r\n") display properly. If you enter a newline in the Large Caption preset, then it gets stored in DOS-style format ("\r\n").
This creates problems when moving metadata to and from other programs and platforms. For example, Photoshop Elements generates a single newline character ("\n") for newlines in metadata.
It would be better for LR to do what most modern Windows programs do when faced with the need for platform-independent data: Accept either format ("\r\n" or "\n") and display it properly as a single newline. When newlines are entered into the Metadata panel, store them as a single "\n" character.

The current behavior is a littler messier than I thought: I you enter a caption with newlines via the Metadata panel, they are stored in the catalog in DOS format (\r\n). If you then do Save Metadata To File, the newlines get stored in Unix format (\n), which is good. But if you then do Read Metadata From File, the Unix-format newlines replace the DOS-format nelines in the catalog, and they no longer display properly.
This is more properly called a bug than a feature request, so I'll file a bug report.

Creative Cloud evaporates - billing fiasco

This is both a plea for help and a rant:
I've been trying to subscribe to the Cloud for nearly a month now and my trial versions are about to run out leaving me with numerous cleint projects in limbo. I still have CS6 (and 5 & 5.5 because I am a bit paranoid about legacy issues) but most new projects I've been shooting on Sony's new 4K codec which is only available on CC (not sure why they can't offer a new codec in CS6 but that's another topic).
For some reason, every time I order Creative Cloud I get this message: "We'll look into that and get back to you You should get an email from us by next business day. If you don't hear back from us, you can check your order status on your account page or call us at +1 800-585-0774" and every time I get no answer and the order does not show up in my account. I've wasted nearly six hours with tech support (at my hourly billing rate I could have paid for the full Creative Suite for a year in that time) and am no closer to resolving this issue than when it started. I've placed the order on Chrome, Safari and Firefox in case it was a browser issue, but receive the same message each time.
Beyond the fact that in a few days my trial versions will expire and I'll have to explain to my clients that I can't finish their projects because I can't pay my subscription fees, I am deeply worried that even if I can magically fix this problem that billing issues like this will arise in the future. By now I have absolutely no faith left in Adobe's ability to provide Cloud services and am looking for any and all options outside of Creative Suite for high-end productions. I know for editing there are options (FCP and Avid) but for motion graphics AE seems the best from my experience. I'd hate to switch back after all the time and cost of moving to a predominately Adobe video workflow the past three years (not to mention all the third party plug-ins) but I need a platform that is reliable and this Cloud seems to evaporate far too easily.
Does anyone have any aswers on how I can possibly get CC to work? If not, anyone have suggestions on other platforms that are comparible?

Changing from PC to Mac--which PS Elements should I get?

I have been using PSE 7 on my pc, and it has done everything I need it to do, EXCEPT for including the llight blue guidelines that allow me to easily line up images. I have Wiindows 7 installed on my new iMac, and I suppose I could move PSE 7 from my pc to the mac, and work in Windows. But I think it's time for me to get the Mac version of PSE.
As I said, the only feature I need beyond what PSE 7 has is blue guidelines. If I get PSE 8 for the Mac, do you think this is all i need? Or is there another reason to get a more recent release?

You can still purchase PSE8 and other versions online from sites like Amazon however Adobe no longer provides support for those versions. In any case the price difference is small compared with PSE10; so I would recommend buying the latest version. If you then experience any difficulties with installation or operation you will get the benefit of support.
You can also download a scaled down version from the Mac App Store or iTunes Store for PSE9. However this is the Editor only and lacks the Organizer. Some Mac users find it convenient but I would not recommend it personally. The saving is only $10 compared with a purchase directly from Adobe which often comes with a $20 mail in rebate or discount from a retailer; so effectively you could be paying more. Most books and tutorials involve steps going to and from the Organizer to the Edit modes and also if you ever wish to upgrade in future Adobe will simply send you back to the app store. You will need both platforms initially.

I am SO lost (please help)

I come from a Fireworks background and know enough about
architecting databases to be dangerous. I've taken to learning Flex
2 via books, tutorials etc and understand most of the front-end
aspects of it. However, I now want to connect to a MySql Database
and can't believe how difficult/complicated it seems.
On the assumption that it is the easiest to learn, I've gone
with cfusion 8, installed it locally and have set up data sources
(to mysql on a different networked machine). As I understand it,
flex can talk directly to cfusion which then talks to mysql -- fair
enough. To do so flex essentially uses an ActionScript class to
talk to a coldfusion component, right? Thus what the Flex wizards
do is create and/or relate to each other these .as and .cfc files
(same as if I created a cfc in say Dreamweaver)?
Now, are these wizard relations "strongly typed"? And
shouldn't the cfc's be saved to the CF server root? Also, the
wizard created cfcs seem to have the sql code right in them --
which I've read/been told is a security issue (i.e. use stored
procedures instead).
I've just installed Flex 3 and spend the day trying to ensure
set up etc -- but I've read about Flex DataServices, Blaze,
LiveCycle and RDS (plus the Flex Coldfusion extensions). Frankly I
don't know if I have one or more of these installed or which ones
the wizards use or how to differentiate between them etc etc.
Is there any site/guide/tutorial that starts at a really
intro/installation level where I can at least get a foundation to
work from? I don't mind bludgeoning my way through but without some
sort of guide I fear my learning curve is problematic.
At the moment I'm thinking of learning how to create my
entire site in non-Flash/Flex cfcs in dreamweaver first. This way
too, much of my business rules/logic can be in the "model/dbase".
Presumably that will allow me to create the cfusion to dbase
connectivity, after which I can use the flex wizard to build the as
class from cfc right? But even then, IMHO the connectivity to Flex
seems difficult (error handlers, Remote Objects etc) and lengthy.
But am I missing some part of the puzzle? Thanks in advance

Yeah, that is the problem with "Flex"ibility, there are too
damn many choices.
Your best bet is hit google for some examples and decide
which seems best for you.
In my opinion, the simplest setup is to have your server
respond with XML, use HTTPService in flex, with resultFormat="e4x".
This is because you can solve the problem in pieces:
* Build your server side functionality to take a request,
query the db (use a stored proc if you like), and return XML.
* hit your server url with a request from a browser, and see
meaningful XML
* Build the Flex UI using hard coded XML(referenced in a
variable), using the same format as you see in the browser.
* Use HTTPService to hit the server url with the same
querystring you used in the browser
* then replace the hard coded xml with the results from the
HTTPService result.
The benefit of this approach is you can make each part work,
without having to have the whole thing work. If you go this way, I
have some sample code.
But this just one of many possible approaches. Maybe instead
of a platform named "Flex", we need a platform named "DoThis"!

How do I reinstall Snow Leopard without the discs?

I need to change my hard drive and reinstall Mac OS X. I can't install Lion obviously because I first need a platform. I got my MacBook from a relative, but she sent it to me with MacBook Pro installation discs. I tried using them, but every time it says, "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer," which I don't know why that'd be. Since I don't have the necessary installation discs, how do I reinstall the OS?

FIrst, you may want to back up your system to an external HD, then restore it when the disk is replaced. If you use the Restore tab of Disk Utility (see #7 in Using Disk Utility), or the 3rd-party CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper apps, you can start up from the "clone" and restore back to the new disk.
If you use Time Machine for backups, you'll need a Snow Leopard disc to restore them.
But you will probably need a Snow Leopard disc that will boot your Mac sooner or later anyway.
Note that the retail disc only has the default Apple apps; no iLife or iWork apps.
If the Mac came with Snow Leopard, call AppleCare. They'll send a duplicate set of the original discs (including iLife) for a nominal fee.
If the Mac came with Leopard, and iLife wasn't upgraded, get the original Leopard disks (with iLife) and a retail Snow Leopard disc.

According to your description, you encountered the timeout issue when rendering your report. Right?
In Reporting Services, sometimes this issue happens when rendering big report, and it exceed the default Query Timeout time. Generally, we increase the Query Timeout and Session Timeout so that it will have more time to retrieving data.
In this scenario, since you have done this adjustment and the issue still exists randomly. We suggest you optimize the performance of your report. Please refer to the articles below:

To run a flash file you will definetely need a platform for which you need a shockwave player or a simple browser window. From webdynpro, the purpose of making it run through a IFrame is at runtime, the frame acts as a window for the flash file to run. Hence its the direct option of running it. Otherwise, you need to use a external window to invoke it seperetely in a browser window to run the file.

Runtime Compilation to Increase Performance

Hi everyone,
I've been struggling with this problem for a few days now and would be glad if you could help. I'm working on a neural networks project. I've written a GUI to edit and train neural networks for a certain task. In order to be able to play with the network architecture in a flexible manner I've exploited the OOP concepts generously. But once the network architecture is set I don't need this flexibility anymore and I want to compile a specific class that has the same functionality as that network where all the computation is carried out over local variables (I even made them static) instead of array elements and object references. I've successfully written this code that generates a string where loops are unrolled and all the if, switch statements are resolved and the variables that are not supposed to vary at this point are inserted as constants at the (runtime) compile time.This should speed up right? Especially considering all the array bounds checking and stuff java is doing.
When I try to compile this string, everything is fine and the mathematical functionality is perfectly imitated. But the problem is, for small networks, the code works twice as fast, as I would expect but for large networks the speed drops to something like 4 times slower! For a typical large network the resulting binary is 80k, so I wouldnt expect it to fill the cache (or should I?) anyway, even if it did fill the cache that shouldnt slow it down by a factor of 8. The slowdown sounds more like the difference between JITted and interpreted code. I suspect that as that single method is 80k long it might not be JITted (sorry if I annoy you with that crappy term). If you think this is the case, is there any way to bypass that? Or what do you think the reason could be. I already tried to decrease the number of method calls before compilation to 1 (with the command line argument -XX:CompileThreshold:1) just to try, but it didnt help.
I converted the resulting string also to C++ and it runs 4 times faster than the unrolled original method(Even for large networks). (It serves also as a nice test showing that java is half as fast as such an arithmetic and trigonometric intensive task)
I would be so glad if you could help me attain the x2 performance I obtain with the small networks in the general case. And I would be super duper glad if you could suggest a way I could runtime compile it in C++ and attach it to my program through JNI. Runtime compiling C++ code sounds messy but I keep some hope since the operations are purely mathematical and they don't need any platform specific thing.

Thanks for your answer, I was thinking about the same thing, but I am not exactly trying to out-smart it. During that runtime compilation I know much more than the VM does. I know that the neuron axon function family is constant, so I bypass a switch statement. I know that function flatness will not change after that point so I insert it as a constant. I also avoid using arrays since I know how many elements there should be, and I can use individual local variables instead. This also explains the speed increase in small networks and also in the C++ experiment.
I've checked those options, and the only relevant one I could find is that XX:CompileThreshold. By the way, why do you think runtime compiling C++ is less messy? With java everything needed is included in the standard library. JavaCompiler class and the ClassLoader class are sufficient. With C++ I guess I would have to excite some C++ compiler through a system call so that it generates a .dll (or .so) then I would have to have it loaded to memory and interface it to my program. It could even get messier if I tried to recompile it when the network changes as then I would have to unload the dll and rebuild it. If you had an easier way in mind I would be so glad to hear.

This is not a classpath problem/question. I am not having any problem to find my user class when I try to run javac or java.
I assume javac (invoke it under the command prompt in DOS) will find its needed Java platform classes from the new directory jdk1.3 and not from the previous jdk1.2.2 folder. Question is:how does it know? I was told I could safely delete all files under c:\jdk1.2.2 after installing Jbuilder and I did.

This is similar situation when running an application. I have installed the Java plug-in because I think I need them if I need to test an Applet running under a web browser. For some reasons I installed different versions of Java run time environments onto my same machine. In my machine folder c:\program files\javasoft\ I've got three(3) different subfolders 1.2, 1.3.1, and 1.3.1_02 now.
When I run the JVM command java or the Appletviewer command, how do I know whether the system will find it Java platform classes from the new c:\program files\javasoft\jre\1.3.1.02\lib\rt.jar or from the former c:\program files\javasoft\jre\1.3.1\lib\rt.jar folder?

The PATH (not CLASSPATH) variable is used by Windows/DOS to locate executable programs. The current (working) directory is automatically included in this list. When you type "javac foo.java", Windows/DOS starts looking for an executable named "javac" - the extension could be exe, com, or bat - first in the current directory, then in each of the directories listed in the PATH, from left to right. The first match is executed; if no match is found, the error message "Bad command or file name" is produced. For the rest of the answer, see Question 3

This is a messy one. First, the current Java Plugin Control Panel has a tab that allows you to specify the version of the plugin. This has evolved from version to version, and the greatest change was made between 1.2 and 1.3. Because of the evolving changes, I'm not sure what you see. (I've forgotten, I'm using 1.4.1_02) Anyway, you can specify a version to be used. If it's left at "Default", then normally the last installed version is used (but problems that Sun has had can change this - see the Buglist). If applets are involved, then it gets really messy - see the Plugin Developer's Guide http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/plugin/developer_guide/contents.html for the details.
Question 3:

Depends on what executable is invoked - e.g., the rt.jar that was installed with the version of the executable will be used (in a perfect world). In reality, Sun has had a number of problems getting this matter sorted out (the evolution, ya know), so there could be a number of posssibilities. And you're right, there are a couple of Registry key/values that are involved. The easiest way to find out is to experiment - just rename one of the copies and try it out.
You can delete all of the older versions - unless you need to maintain multiple versions for compatibility purposes. Sun (and me!) recommends this - in fact, you'll get the cleanest update if you delete the old version first, then install the new version. This is about to change though - Sun is working on a real update-in-place - and it may make it into 1.4.2.
