Need a recommendation for a DJ speaker setup

what loudspeakers, subwoofer, and accessories should I get for small to medium venues.I already have a full stanton setup (mixer/two tables/) and have a laptop I use too. I just have only used stereo equipment and done house partys but want to step it up and I am not sure what to buy and the Best Buy I work at does not have a musical instrument department.
Solved!

Lot's of different options, and it sounds like you've determined what size of setup you want.  If your going to be doing small party's, I would recommend two powered speakers, since you already have the tables and mixer.  And the powered speakers will help in the ease of setup also.  If you can find them, there still may be some out there in Best Buy, but they are discontinued, I would look into getting two Thump15's by Tapco.  They put out alot of volume and would be great for a DJ setup.  And obviously you could upgrade from that to Mackies, or EV's.  Just depends on the price range.  Please give us a call if you have any more questions.  Thanks!  Randy Smith  M.I. sup Tempe, AZ 480.303.7251

  • Needing Sound Recommendations for a New Living Room TV

I am in need of some solid TV recommendations for my living.  I currently have a 65" Plasma that the sun coming through the windows destroys the picture.  I guess I needed to do more homework before I made the purchase.  I love the TV so despite my wife being totally against it, I am going to put it in my bedroom.
With that being said, is there a television (60" or larger) that anyone can recommend that works perfectly in those conditions?  I know it would be cheaper to buy drapes, but I want to do it right this time.  Any recommendations would be much appreciated.  I have about three months before I return from my deployment to make a decision.  Time is definitely on my side.  Thanks

Might not be a bad idea to have a consultation done. My go to TV for rooms with a lot of lighting is LGs. They're really improved the past few years and prefer them over sharp. I would mainly stay away from Samsung. Even though they're awesome TV's, they tend to put a glossy finish on them. I also love Panasonic plamas, but plasmas have a glass screen which produces glare.

  • Need Laptop Recommendation - best for Adobe Premiere Pro editing

I am in the process of looking for a new laptop and need recommendations based on how I will use the laptop.  I produce video and mainly use the following programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro CS2, Adobe Encore DVD.  I also use other photo editing software such as AutoFX PGE7.0.
I currently have an HP Pavilion which is about 5 years old.  This desktop has the following specs:
    HP Pavilion PU131AV / a1050y, Windows XP MCE, SP3 32bit, Nvidia GeForce 6600, Intel Pentium 4 CPU, 3.20 GHz, 2GB of RAM
I believe that with a new laptop, I could create my videos more efficiently.  If you have any input as to what I need in a laptop for my specific purposes, please let me know.
    Thanks so much,
    Angela

    Harm,
Thank you for your response.  I have yet to buy the new computer but will be doing so in the next couple of days.  I read the links you provided, and another thread which discussed the performance of a laptop vs a desktop.  I have changed my mind and will be purchasing a desktop.  I need advice concerning this purchase, but will start a new discussion to do so.
    Thanks so much,

  • HP 3D DriveGuard Needed or Recommended for SSD Drive?

I recently replaced the standard drive on my HP 2730p with an Intel SSD X-18. I did a clean install and the driver for the HP 3D DriveGuard shows missingof course so my question is - do I need or should I install this driver if I have an SSD in my laptop now?
    Many thanks.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    It is not needed.
There are no platters and read/wrire heads to worry about in a Solid State hard disk. The are no moving parts so no heads to get jogged or bumped which could cause data loss. With an SSD drive it is also recommended to avoid defragmenting. Your new drive is cutting edge technology.

  • Recommendations for Upgrading

I purchased a W520 last year around this time.
Have been very happy with it so far. I am at that point now where I am looking for more.
What is the first upgrade I should do?
    I have...
    - 8GB of ram
-160 GB SSD it came with (thinking about upgrading here)
    - i7 2760
    -windows 7 pro
I have never cloned hard drives before is it hard?
    Thanks

The W520 is a relatively new model. (Certain users would rather hang on to it than upgrading to the latest W530.) That means all the components cannot be considered "out of date." The main bay, in particular, supports SATA 6Gbit/s or, as certain people put it, SATA III.
Your 160GB SSD, which I suppose to be Intel, supports SATA 3Gbit/s. You may want to upgrade to a SSD of higher storage capacity and, most likely, the new SSD supports SATA 6Gbit/s although I doubt the increase in transfer speed will bring any perceptible improvements.
I'd recommend bumping the RAM up to 16GB total. Although your applications might not need all of it, Windows SuperFetch can take full advantage of the available RAM.
Cloning? Use Acronis True Image, for example. Very easy.

  • Your recommendation for a new HP Photosmart All-in-one.

Could I get your recommendations for a new HP Photosmart All-in-one.  My old Photosmart #C5180 died. I loved that machine - it made excellent copies, was a wonderful printer and scanner and made excellent photographs, and it lived for many years.  What would be your recommendations for a new Photosmart that would be similar to my old one and hopefully use the same cartridges,  HP02, which I have a supply of.  Thanks for your any recommendations that anyone would volunteer.

    Railway,
Unfortunately no current model of printer is going to support those cartridges.
Here is a link to our current photosmart models:
    http://shopping.hp.com/en_US/home-office/-/products/Printers/HP%20Photosmart
All of those are great printers. If you are looking to occasionaly send faxes, then the 7510 would be the one you would want to go with. It has eFax on it, which is faxing over a internet connection, without the use of a phone line.

  • Need a recommendation on a DAQ to finish this configuration

I am currently putting together a setup that includes the following items:
1: Motor Driver - Aries AR-01xx  from Parker
                 2: NI UMI -7774
3: Motor - Direct Drive Rotary Table from Parker that is listed under rotary positioners on their website
4: PCI DAQ is unknown at this time.
I am pretty new with motion control and I am trying to see if there is a DAQ/setup out there for a PC that would allow me to interface with items 1-3.  I was thinking a NI PCI-7342 might work since I only intend to use 2-axis and it also comes with NI Motion Control.  Or is there a better setup that I should use to interface to the motor driver?  I already know that items 1 and 3 work together I just need to be able to interface LabVIEW 8.6 to the motor driver?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ginzu

    Ginzu,
I don't expect every user being an expert in the NI acronym jungle , but I just wanted to make it clear, that there is a significant difference between these two product lines. Sometimes there are some misunderstandings (Q: "How can I program my 73xx board with NI-DAQmx?" A: "You can't. You need to use NI-Motion" ) and I wanted to avoid this siutation.

  • Print server recommendations for Laserjet 1018

I tried using Apple's Airport Xpress with my laserjet 1018 as a print server, and it worked ok on my laptop (wireless) but quite poorly on my desktop (wired). My laptop is Vista; desktop is XP. Apple said that the problem was with the OS or the printer.  Man if I had a dime for all the tech support calls that have claimed that their product wasn't the problem....
Rather than making numerous trips to best buy or purchases on amazon, is there a compatibility list for the 1018 and print servers? I know this seems to be tricky, as I've seen numerous complaints about the lack of compatibility between printers and print servers.  At this point I'm willing to use either wired or wireless print servers--I just want something that works.
EDIT: Even if someone doesn't have a list, if there are print servers that are known to work with lots of printers, at least that would give me better odds of finding one that worked with my 1018.
I suppose the price ceiling I'm looking at is 75 bucks or so, as that would be the difference betwen (a) buying a new HP 1505n  and (b) ebaying off my 1018. So if its much more than 75, I think I'd be better off just getting the 1505n.

  • Recommendation for visual tracking system, stepper or servo?

    Hi all,
I have an application that involves a directional antenna mounted on a pan/tilt device.  There is a camera mounted concentric to the antenna, and the goal is to use the camera to track a small rocket being launched from 1km-2km away so that the antenna always points towards the rocket.  The pan/tilt involves 2 axes of motion.
Let's assume the camera can pinpoint the XY coordinates of the rocket from the image.  The more this point deviates from the center of the image (say, 320,240 from a 640 x 480 image), the velocity of the motors should change on the fly to compensation for this deviation.
I want to be able to change velocities (positive AND negative) in a loop, without too much hassle.  Currently I'm surveying PCI plug-in boards using the NI-Motion API and also cRIO with the SoftMotion API.  I've had experience programming in both.  I'm a little skeptic about SoftMotion, according to this post:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Velocity-profiling-with-SoftMotion-Module/td-p/1062345
The NI-Motion manual also mentions "velocity override" in Chapter 5, but I don't see this providing velocity changes in the negation direction.  I also would like to avoid using the 9505 and FPGA programming.  Has anyone done a similar application, and can you comment on what NI HW and what type of motors (stepper or servo) you used? Thanks!

  • With 7.1 "Share WiFi Settings" no longer works for A3 Pioneer Speaker setup

I am nolonger able to link my Pioneer A3 Speaker with my WiFi network by plugging it into my iPhone or iPad, no message asking "Share the WiFi Settings". I have used various cables, re-booted WiFi and devices etc so conclude either my A3 has suddenly broken, or the 7.1 updates messed things up.

  • I need a recommendation for SAN (Actually NAS) ethernet switches.

Hi, we have one Dell blade chassis with 8 servers ----  connected to stacked switches (3750) with EtherChannels ----  to NetApp (Controller 1 and 2 accordingly). Unfortunately, Dell blade servers only supports 1Gbps for port and NetApp also supports 1Gbps for each port (ports are all ethernet, not FC)
    Questions
    1) What kind of switch do you recommend? I know that it is not popular to use ethernet in SAN  I just recognized that we have NAS, what do you recommend switches for NAS?
not SAN, so any MDS 9000 series don't work because it supports limited ethernet ports (many FC ports). I need many ethernet ports at least 48 ports from each switch. I know Nexus is one of candidates, but want to double check.
    2) Most of vendors ask what kind of connection I have. I said usually just ethernet, not FC, not FCoE. Is it right?    I believe that since I found NAS, it is "Ethernet"
    3) The reason that I am looking for different switches is there are huge packet dropped (outbound) in switches (outgoing toward both dell servers and netapp; incoming is ok) We recently moved PtoV so, it is possible that traffic volume was increased. But output doesn't give me lot of information like below. Do you have any recommendation for further t-shoot?

I need a recommendation for a 24" professional photography monitor for my late 2013 MacBook Pro.  I am looking for a monitor that plays well with my 13" late 2013 Macbook pro.  I tryed the Dell U2413 and found after the fact that it did not work well with my Macbook pro.  Read up on the Asus PA 249Q, It also seems to have problems with my Macbook Pro.  Apple display is larger than i want.  Looking for recommendations for compatable IPS monitor for use with Aperture. buget is $300 to $800.
    Anybody happy with thiers?
