    Hello I have a iMac with 3.4 GHZ intel core I7, memory 16 GB 1333 MHZ DDR3, and OS X 10.9.4 Software.
I have problems when I try to copy or modify any file from my MAC to MY PORTABLE DRIVE/DISQUE (external hard disk).
my external hard disk have the next features:
    brand: Seagate
    4TB
I do not know if I need some software such as: paragon or I need to configure my MAC,
    Please help me..
    Thanks a lot

Click on it, choose Get Info from the File menu, and check the format.
If it's formatted as NTFS, reformat it as MS-DOS, exFAT, or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as desired, or install software such as Paragon NTFS on the computer.
If it's formatted as FAT32 or exFAT, use the Disk Utility's Repair Disk command on it; this may also happen for a flash drive which is about to fail.
If it's formatted as Mac OS Extended, click Authenticate and provide your administrator password, or change the permissions on that specific folder in its Get Info window.

  • Lost iPod software disk - urgent help needed!

I've just got a new laptop and am in the process of transferring all my files across. I went to put in my iPod and realised I have lost my iPod software disk (the one that you get with the iPod when you buy it). Is there anything I can do to get some software and install my iPod, or is finding the disk my only way? :/ Please help!

you can download the latest version of the installer from this location:
    iTunes 7.0.2.16 Installer
... and there are also archives of version 6.0.5.20 and the last version of the ipod updater available here (if you don't want to do an itunes upgrade):
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605forwindows.html
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodupdater20060628forwindows.html
(with iTunes 7.0.x, there is no longer a "standalone" updater application. ipod updates and restores are done with itunes instead.)

  • Do I need the original disk that came with a mac or can I just buy the OS software??

Hi I recently bought a used macbook and the seller did not have the original disks that came with the computer. What I was wondering is if I needed to install a new hard drive in the event that mine fails, can I just buy a copy of the OS and install it on the new hard drive or do I need the specific disks that came with the machine??
    Thanks for your help

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You say that you have Mac OS X 10.7.5, so if it came preinstalled, see that you can't reinstall it because it's registered to the old owner. Call Apple to get replacement DVDs
If you want, you can upgrade to Mountain Lion. See if your computer is supported > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs Open App Store and purchase Mountain Lion

I installed a new SSD drive in my computer and now Adobe Creative Suite Web Premium says I don't have a license. I have license. It was very expensive. I am disabled now, and I need this software working. Adobe Acrobat has been a primary tool for accommodating memory problems after a brain injury. (A car ran me down while I was out getting exercise.) I installed the SSD because I needed my management of PDF files to run faster. I called tech support for help when the software first stopped working, but they needed me to give them a number from my original disks. Because of my disability, I've been having someone come in to clean, and the shelves where I kept my software packages were cleared. I've been hunting for them ever since, but I can't look for them myself for very long at a time. Today I finally found them, but now I can't seem to contact tech support. What happened? I don't want to delete my old files because I need the setup to remain unchanged, because I don't do well with changes. I think all I should need is to have someone located the license file on drive E: and move it to wherever it is needed on the SSD drive, but I don't know what to look for.

Tech support is not normally available on weekends.  You should contact them as soon as the weekend passes and pick up where you left off with them.

  • I have been trying to update my software in my macbook pro, but every time I go through the motions of updating/restarting my computer nothing happens and it still shows I need a software update. Anyone know why this is happening?

I have been trying to update my software in my macbook pro, but every time I go through the motions of updating/restarting my computer nothing happens and it still shows I need a software update. Anyone know why this is happening?

How large is your HD and how much space do you have left?
Check out the following & do the necessary:
Disconnect all devices from the computer then do the following:
Boot up from your Snow Leopard Install DVD while holding down the "c" key.
Select the language you wish to use, and then choose "Disk Utility" from the menu bar.
Your HD should appear in a panel on the left hand side of the window which opens. Select it and then click on the "repair disk" button in the right hand section of the window.
Once this process has been completed restart your computer and repair permissions directly from Disk Utility.
    Try SU again.
If Disk Utility is unable to complete the repair, you will need to use a stronger 3rd party utility like DiskWarrior, Techtool PRO (not Deluxe) or Drive Genius.

  • I want to install CyberLink PowerDirector on my Macbook Pro but I need Windows software operating system to be install ? I need help!

I  downloaded PowwerDirector 12 trial and when I try to open it,  I got a message that "CyberLink PowerDirector was not compatible to Mac". After some inquiries, I found that I need Winows software operating system to be install in Mac! Can sombody help me?

For Windows on a Mac you'd have to own a Windows retail system installer with keycode, and use BootCamp utility in the Mac OS X to set up a partition on the computer hard disk drive (issues? if you have Apple Fusion Drive where a SSD + HDD are automatically co-joined) and then install the Windows system there.
Or get & use Parallels, or VMFusion software and use it along with Windows to run applications written for a Windows OS. And would need to have a large internal hard disk drive with plenty of room since the space for Windows takes away space for Mac OS X and its applications to run; and also you'd need plenty of chip RAM installed to run this other System plus software... and for Windows, its own anti-virual software not needed at all in a Mac.
Not sure about this, http://www.wondershare.com/video-editor/mac/ suggests in their advert to be something to use if you can't use the cyberlink product.
Or don't want to buy the upscale or pro Apple image software that does a fine job at a cost. I'd try & avoid running Windows in a Mac even though it can run three or more different OS, including linux/unix builds.
Never heard of either one: wondershare or cyberlink powerdirector.
(the latter looked 'more pro' for windows)
    {But check for any hint of some odd effects before you get and install any software from a marginal or unknown source, since adware can follow, and really odd things can start to happen then, like search engine redirects.}
Anyway, helpful information about your computer and its current configuration, OS X version, RAM installed, hard disk drive specs (free vs used capacity) are numbers that can make a difference going into a new thing. Even Mavericks alone is not an upgrade, often that requires a bunch of extra chip RAM capacity.
Not sure if this helps, another may offer more direct ideas...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Restore Software Disk not seeing HD as restorable disk

I just wiped my G4 drive as I have moved on to an iMac. I want to pass on the computer to a family member, so I wanted to re-install the original software (restore software disks 1-4) but when I start up, and click on the drive, it says it is not a restorable image.
Can I skip the restore disks and just install Tiger directly on it? Or is there stuff on the restore disks that won't be on the drive if I don't restore, that is needed later by other software or system updates?
I am operating from an Edrive I created with TechTools. Could that be what is preventing the restore?
    Thanks for any help!

Well that made me laugh, as I have been VERY angry since this happened. I did get as far as restoring, and getting the lastest iPod update installed.....BUT...once I connected and the songs started to upload, it freezes iTunes, and generally my desktop, and then after a few minutues an error "Attempting to copy to the disk "David's iPod" failed. The disk could not be read or written to"
The iPod is then frozen, and I am back to where I started.
I have given up, and will take it in to an Apple Store to get repaired some how. I did try to get the online form filled out, but that gives an error aswell!!!! Anyway, will let you know how I go and cost involved in Aussie dollars as not sure where you are....Cheers, David

  • How do I remove an old version of the Apple Software Updater from a Windows XP machine without a software disk?

How do I remove an old version of the Apple Software Updater program from a Windows XP SP3 machine
without an Apple Software disk? I keep getting a message saying that I need such a disk to uninstall
the old program so I can install Itunes software so I can download apps for my new Iphone 5S.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does it go through properly this time?

  • Software disks

I just bought a Mac Mini. It looks, unfortunately, like it was previously opened by someone else, however. Good news is that everything looked like it had never been turned on (still had plastic wrap over the power cord even).
One question, though... I received 2 disks with the Mac (labeled Mac OS X Install Disk 1 and Mac OS X Install Disk 2). So... I'm wondering... if I ever decide to re-format my system, do these disks have iLife and FrontRow on them? Or am I missing software disks that should have come with my Mac?
    Thanks!

Well, you seem inclined to get the iMac, and apparently you can afford it. If you want to play games, then although the Mini is capable of playing "light" and older games, it can't really handle the latest 3D games. For that you'd need an iMac. Otherwise, I think the Mini is a pretty good machine, but the iMac would be faster anyway.
Hopefully you'll be able to switch the rest of your software soon and abandon Windows altogether. Good luck !
BTW don't know whether you already installed Boot Camp but don't forget to backup everything valuable, since even though Boot Camp seems to work fairly well, it remains beta software and is more likely to crash or to cause issues than official, "gold" software. (Having a good backup solution is always a good thing nonetheless)

  • Need Additional Software

When I receive some video files in my email and I go to play them, it says that I need additional software because Quicktime cannot play the attachment. I have included the actual "error" message.
The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands. You may need to install additional software to open this type of file.
Not sure what else to install.

As you are running a very old version of OS 10.3 it is difficult to answer your question, simply because the various applications and add-ons you need may not work now with that old system.
    With that proviso:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear/play pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 11.1 for Mac from:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002 and 003). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4:
    http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
Recommendation: Close all applications before installing any of the above, repair permissions, reboot, and repair permissions again.
