For normal computer, we only have Windows 85, 98, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and now Windows 8.1. Probably you need a recovery discs set for your machine. You cannot download recovery disks. They must be purchased from HP.

You can however, download and make your own plain Windows 7 installation DVD if you can read the 25 character Windows 7 product key on the bottom of your PC.
Here's how:
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.

I need a windows recovery disk for my presario CQ71-203EF

I purchased in Reunion Island (French Territory) but now live in Palau (US Territory). I had a shop upgrade from Vista to 7 but I didn't know they installed non-genuine version 7. I functions poorly and I just want to restore. I no longer live in country where the pirate copy was installed, so can't go back to get fixed (if possible). I believe the recovery in the machine is no longer available as overwritten by pirate version 7. I think I need recovery disk. If you have the product key from the CA sticker on the bottom of the notebook, you can download a legal copy of a windows 7 install disc, this will get windows installed, but not the HP drivers and software. Drivers and some software can be found on the HP website.

It sounds like your recovery discs may be bad. You might need to order new recovery media or have your laptop serviced.

Missing IDES ECC5 installation disk for SAP Kernel - MaxDB Version

Hi,
Our HQ sent us installation disks for IDES ECC5. We copied them all onto our server and started installation. The system is now informing us that it can't find the SAP kernel information.
I can only assume that we're missing one of the installation disks.
We're desperate to get this installed and it will take another week for our HQ to send through another disk. Does anyone know whether we can download this from somewhere? We have had a look on SAP marketplace but you only seem to be able to download the kernel for Oracle, MSSQL and DB2....no MaxDB.
Additionally, if there is somewhere in Asia we can download this, then that would be better as we are having internet problems when connecting to Europe and the US.

Bootcamp - Windows installation disk won't read

I have a late-2011, 13 inch MacBook Pro and I am running OS X 10.9.3 with all the latest updates. I am trying to use Bootcamp to runs windows but the windows disk isn't be read by my laptop. I run Bootcamp, it downloads the latest support software but when I put the windows installation disk in; it starts to spin up, makes some noises like it is being read, then it ejects the disk. Anybody have this problem, or now a way around it?

I have about 8 different burners on my systems, and some will read DVD's better than others will. On my workstation, I have one LG and one Plextor. The LG does the best, and when it fails, the Plextor usually can read. When this happens, I just do a Copy from the drive that can read the disc, to the other drive, using Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media. If neither can read, I have six others to try. Sometimes, it's just the burner.
One little hint would be to make sure that your burner's firmware is updated to the very latest. That can improve the burner's ability to read from a slightly damaged disc.
Otherwise, contact Adobe. For many programs, they sell replacement media. Do not know if there are version limitations, but one call should give you what is available.

Bootcamp won't read windows installer disk

hey guys, I have a macbook pro, I just downloaded windows 7 from microsoft, I burned a dvd with the files and I partitioned my disk, but i can't install the windows because bootcamp won't read the disk. I get the following message: the installer disk cannot be found. Insert your windows installer disk and wait a few minutes ti be recognized...
What is wrong?

If it's an .iso, you need to open it in Disk Utility, then burn it from there. If you just put a bunch of files onto optical media, then it won't boot. You need to use something like Roxio Toast to burn a bootable disk from files. It knows what needs to be added and how the files should be arranged.
I've found that with Windows stuff, I'm better off using a Windows utilitiy that understands Windows booting. I use CDBurner XP. It works great and is free.

Toshiba provide a WIndows installation disk?

I just went to an excessively LONG -out of the box- restore, that took 20 times longer than a normal Windows installation should of. Does Toshiba offer a windows installation disk or image file compatible with their Windows 7 upgrade disk?
Or would a 32bit Windows Vista image upgrade properly to a 64bit Windows 7 disk?
I have the CD-Keys for both...

sounds interesting, but I dont think that toshiba will do that, because they already give the windows on recovery cd to every machine you buy from them.
So, why should they do that?
Maybe other manufacturer do that, but the quality of their notebooks and computers are probably not so good, so they must give software away, that customers dont return the
computers and buy some better like a toshiba. ;)
So a definitive answer to your question: No they wont.

The smart error is usually a fatal hard drive error and it probably needs to be replaced. Here is a quick scan of this forum for smart error 301:

I think the high heat situation and damaged your video chip at the very least and someone will have to open the laptop and reflow, reball or replace the video chip. If this machine is in warrantee, you need to call HP or contact them before it is out of warrantee.

I've downloaded the Window support option software and the WindowSetupBox.exe and copied it to the USB drive. I tried to create an iso image from my Windows XP machine but recieved messages that Windows 8.1 could not run on XP. I've ordered the Windows 8.1 backup media.
Any way to proceed?
