Need additional right on Windows 7

Hello NG
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question..... sorry
about that.
I have a windows 7 machine and i want install two bundles. Ghostscript and
freepdfxp (http://freepdfxp.de/index.html)
The installation of Ghostscript was not a problem. But the installation of
Freepdfxp is tricky. Freepdfxp want to install a printer, it create a port
and installs a printerdriver. Unfortunatelly the driver is not signed by
microsoft. In this case the installation will fail during the installation
of printer. I tried with Adminstudio to build a MSI file, but also this was
not successfull
My question about this.
Does someone know how I could install the software trough ZCM11 with special
rights, so that the installation procedure do bypass the driver signing
warning and do install printer and ports?
Does someone have a script that could solve this issue?
Thanks in advance for your answer
Ramon

Ramon,
In order to allow your users to install unsigned device drivers such as the one you describe, you will need to enable the following Group Policy setting for the workstations you wish to install the software silently on:
User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Driver Installation -> Code signing for drivers
You may also use a registry setting:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Wind ows NT\Driver Signing
Change the BehaviorOnFailedVerify key value to "0" for ignore, "1" for getting just warning mesage and "2" to block completely.

  • Error 175 .- CC needs admin right to install or remove add-ons - Windows 7 -

Sync files is turned on and I updated all my CC apps but can't install the Kuler extension for PS CC 2014 and other add-ons.  Also, constantly getting pop-up  notification "Need Admin Rights to install add-ons"."Error 175 " "Installation failed" . Windows 7, desktop & laptop.  Please help to resolve this issue. Thanks. Giulio

In my understanding, you have acquired some add-ons at https://creative.adobe.com/addons, but Adobe Creative Cloud application failed to install them due to that you didn't provide the administrator right.
You can restart Adobe Creative Cloud application, then it will try to re-install all the failed add-ons, and the notification will pop-up again. You can click it and provide the administrator right.

  • Abobe X Pro needs "additional files to create a pdf..."

    Error message:
Additional files will need to be installed to create PDF from this file.  You must have Administrator privileges to install these files. Please contact your local system administrator.
    1) just an 'ole lady here - on a pc - not a system administrator (though I think have admin rights in windows 7).
    The details:
    a) had a lenovo small format pc running XP - Acrobat X Pro worked fine on this pc, could create pdfs and fillable forms etc.
    b) Just bought a used pc with Windows 7 Enterprise - after a week of issues - duh - I realized X Pro was not working on the new(used) pc, except to let me open a pdf, and even add a text box, or sign or line out a change in a pdf. - that is all it will let me do..
    c) I had a purchased CD of Adobe Pro Standard.  In 2012, I was able to upgrade it to Adobe X Pro 10,  while still on XP, with a digital download, for which I have the registration key.
The X Pro version showing this morning was 10.1.12 (before I uninstalled it, and I assume after various updates).
I've also tried repairing the installation - and selecting the function I need PDFMaker (to work with MS Word) -
I have uninstalled Adobe, and re-installed it, from my old downloaded file the version is 10.0.0
Finally read that I should have deactivated it on the old pc.
Called Support, and they gave me an all new, full version (download) of Adobe X Pro at 5 pm est, and a NEW S/N.
I uninstalled, the old version, ran ccleaner, restarted the pc, installed the new X Pro 10.0.0, used the new s/n and still cannot use Adobe.
Still  can't, create a pdf, combine files from word or create a form from a word doc - nada.  Also, do not seem to have Adobe Reader anywhere on this pc, either (a good thing from what I've read).
When I was on XP I did not have this problem.  Now that I am on Windows 7 Enterprise, I have the problem.
(I am using MS Office 2003 and do plan to update to 2010.  Using Google Apps for Work, small business working from home, did not like Office 365 since I am on a MiFi hotspot for internet (country living))
Maybe all of this was more information than you'd want or need... just was not sure what is is causing the conflict/problem.
Feeling out of my depth with this and really need some guidance / help / specific steps to take - Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually, it's a breath of fresh air getting all of the info needed to help.
But now the bad news. You're in the forum for Adobe Reader, but you want to post in the Acrobat forum from the sounds of it (many more pro's there for your product).
Here's a link and good luck. Acrobat

The answers are in the details, and you have not given us enough details to help you.
Right now I am guessing at what you seek. Are you trying to use your HP Touch Screen to do your
Premiere Elements importing, editing, and exporting and the Touch Screen movements are not working
to do what you want to do in Premiere Elements?
Have you configured the HP computer Touch Screen? Using the Touch Screen, what cannot you do
that you can do with the mouse?
HP Support document - HP Support Center
If I am guessing correctly here, does the mouse work instead of the Touch Screen to allow you to
    work in the program.
I suspect that Premiere Elements does not support Touch Screen and you will end up using a mouse, but I would need to do more homework on
    that.
This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. If you are dealing with the current version, 13, you might want to contact
Adobe about the matter. More on that later, once you confirm the above or let me know that I have completely
    misinterpreted your question/concern.

  • Can't install ; i need administrator rights that i have

    Hello,
I tried many time to install Air but I always failed...
They keep telling me that I need administrator rights, but I have and i launch the installation with them.
I tried many ways (like using this as told : http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/en-us but it didn't work as well, the program is uninstalled - I need to install it again -, and it doesn't appear on the installation programs...) and searched everywhere but without success ; that's why I finally decided to ask here.

  • Administrative rights to Windows Server

I know that we need administrative rights to a window box during
    installation and configuration.
After cutover to production, is it possible for the DBA to survive if
    administrative rights are revoked?
What daily/often-run tasks will be affected?
    Thanks for any suggestion.
PS (Our system admin has taken away admin rights from the DBA, so far, we
are able to identify 10 problem areas, but all of them have workaround/fixes
    of some sort).

There's difference between Local and Domain user in windows environment.
Local user with ORA_DBA should be able to do most Oracle administrative tasks.
However, Oracle DBA account is usually given local administrator privilege on the server.

  • Does Symantec Endpoint need additional Malware protection?

I have been approached by a tech company that helps me monitor our systems and they are telling me that I need to ADD Malware Bytes Subscription to my network.  Symantec says that they already handle malware detection, etc.  BUT this other company is telling me I need additional coverage.
My question is: How many layers do we need?  Is it industry standard to have both??
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

I had some problems with Norton version 10, but none whatsoever with version 11. I've also used VirusBarrier X6.
VirusBarrier is very configurable but on can give some false warnings if you set it to watch network traffic, monitor for virus-like activities, etc (like it thought Data Rescue was acting suspiciously). VB has warned me about a compromised web page I visited, so that feature works. I've never had a false alert from Norton but  neither has ever found an actual Mac virus so I have no experience with that (NAV has found Windows viruses in attachments, and a Word macro virus).
If you don't want to configure anything and don't want false alerts use NAV. If you want more configuration options such as monitoring Internet port connections, web threats, etc. and don't mind dismissing an occasional false alarm the VB is a good choice.
NAV has never slowed anything down. VB usually is transparent but on rare occasion one of the subprograms has run wild (virusbarrierd or virusbarrierb) forcing me to either kill it or restart my computer.

  • Mac's don't need AntiVirus right?

Mac's don't need AV right?! An AppleCare support rep allegedly talks: http://t.co/9BKa9zm

The key take-away from the AppleCare rep's comment was, "many people are falling for this attack." (emphisis mine).
There are also lots of people sending a "processing fee" to a Nigerian Prince, expecting to have "millions" wired into their bank account. Instead, their bank account is drained. People get conned every day--nothing new here.
The key is that people are poorly educated and are being suckered. Partly because of their conception of needing anti-malware on Windows fueled by the nattering of the page-hit-hos.
The sites that squeal like stuck pigs about this are hoping for some failure in Mac OS X security because it sickens them that we can be so smug about our choice in OS. They certainly don't help matters with their sensationalistic headlines. What they should be emphasizing is how easy someone can sucker you out of your money and how simple it is just to dismiss the scare-ware.
Don't be stupid when surfing the net. You don't need anti-malware on your Mac, you just need to use your brain.
If you wish to surf completely brain-dead, then pay someone to hold your hand in the form of Anti-malware software. Or, use the free stuff. However, there is no anti-malware out there that will prevent you from accepting the installation of malware by entering your admin password when some random scare page pops up on the screen.

  • Tiger to Leopard... Need to re-install Windows Partition?

    Hi everyone,
I'm running Tiger right now and I am going to buy Leopard soon. Judging from all the problems people are having. I have decided I am going to do an Erase and Install. However, I'm running Boot Camp under Tiger right now. If I do an Erase and Install, will that effect my current Boot Camp partition? Do I need to re-install Windows again or will Leopard see that its a separate partition and leave it in tack?
    Thanks

Erase and install will not touch the Windows partition.

  • Need Additional Software

When I receive some video files in my email and I go to play them, it says that I need additional software because Quicktime cannot play the attachment. I have included the actual "error" message.
The movie is not in a format that QuickTime Player understands. You may need to install additional software to open this type of file.
Not sure what else to install.

As you are running a very old version of OS 10.3 it is difficult to answer your question, simply because the various applications and add-ons you need may not work now with that old system.
    With that proviso:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear/play pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 11.1 for Mac from:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15540
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
You should also ensure that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2009-001 (and for Tiger only, 2009-002 and 003). (N.B. Security Updates require both a restart and a permission repair.)
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
There is an additional 'fix' you could try if you are having problems with Flash and Quicktime, depending on which type of Mac you have:
On Intel Macs, make sure that you are not running Safari in Rosetta. You can check this, and change it, in the Get Info window.
On PPC Macs, go to the Hard Disk/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and drag the file 'QuickTime Plugin.webplugin' to the desktop. Quit and restart Safari. If things have improved you can trash that file. If they haven't put it back, as the lack of this plug-in can cause QT content in some widgets to cease functioning.
And there is an additional kid on the block: SilverLight. Microsoft has created their own version of what a replacement for Flash could be. You can read more about it here:
    http://silverlight.net/
So, if you go to any sites that have been designed for this new Silverlight stuff, you can download the plug-in from here (but make certain that you are downloading SilverLight v.1.0 for OS X (10.4.8 upwards) if you are using a PPC Mac, but even this will not work with Safari 4. Version 2 only works with Intel Macs and does work with Safari 4:
    http://silverlight.net/GetStarted/
Recommendation: Close all applications before installing any of the above, repair permissions, reboot, and repair permissions again.
