Which operating system are you running on?
I have just tried downloading the large Windows file and it took 25 minutes to download. Do you have a slow link? It could be that the servers was busy as there are some new Lightroom updates available and people may be downloading them. Might be worth trying again later or tomorrow.
By the way, I'm not getting at you but Peru Bob posted an interesting link to an article dealing with using capitals - I found it an amusing read.

Alanh11455686 from the portion of the error you have posted it appears that there maybe some problems updating, removing, or modifying the currently installed color profiles on your computer. I would recommend reviewing the installation logs more closely to confirm that is the case. You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install using logs | Elements. You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.
I am sorry but the only direct support available for Photoshop Elements 11 is if you are facing activation or licensing issues. I believe the current error is resolvable once the offending files/folders have been removed or the file permissions have been updated.

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
- I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
- My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
- Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
- Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
The good news is:
- They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
- They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
- Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
- The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. Thank you so much to everyone who read and replied to this post!

How I install PSE 10 and end up with 64-bit version?

I just installed PSE 10 on my Win 7 64-bit system. From reading these forums, I understand that disc 2 of the 3-disc set contains the 64-bit version. But the referenced install help (and the disc labeling itself) says clearly to "start with disc 1" in either case. So I did that, expecting at some point to be prompted to switch to disc 2. But I never was. The default install location was in Program Files (x86), which I belatedly realize is the wrong folder. So I guess I need to un-install and re-install.
But what's the right way to get the 64-bit version? Manually modify the install location to Program Files w/o the x86? Start from disc 2 anyway, despite what Adobe says? I haven't yet started PSE 10...is it better to uninstall now, or start PSE 10 and make sure new catalog etc gets established?
(I have a similar posting over in the Downloading & Installation forum, but find I get lots faster responses here.)

Yeah as Michel says PSE is only 32 bit; so you only need one disk and Program Files (x86) is the correct location. Only use disk 2 if you want to install the 30 day trial of the video editing software Premier Elements which does have 64 bit support.

padman215, welcome to the forum,
you need to boot from the Rescue and Recovery cd and select to recover the system and then to recover to factory state. It will then eventually ask for the other discs.
Please be sure that you read the messages carefully; if it asks for a supplementary disc, (which you don't seem to have), you need to click on "no" should it ask for one - this throws alot of people.

I had purchased and installed Elements 7 on my PC and then I upgraded through the Adobe site to Elements 9. So I have an actual installation disk for 7 but not for 9. I have a serial number for my purchase of 9.
I recently bought an IMac and I would like to install 9 on my new computer. However I only have the disk for 7 but I paid for the upgrade to 9 on my original PC.
How do I install Elements 9 on my new computer without an installation disk??

Well, I'm afraid you'll have to buy PSE again. The thing is that if you'd bought the disc version of PSE 9 you would have gotten a serial number that works on both platforms, but with your download serial number only works in Windows. I don't know why adobe does it that way, but they do, so it doesn't matter about installation media--your serial number won't work. Downloads are always tied to one platform, either mac or windows, unlike the boxed versions.
Adobe does offer a crossgrade, but for PSE that isn't sensible, since they always send the most recent version and charge the upgrade fee, and for PSE you can find the full boxed version most of the time for less than Adobe charges for the upgrade.

Installing PSE 6 on my new laptop, telling me serial number is wrong.

I am installing my old copy of PSE 6 on my new laptop. I looked up my serial number on my Adobe account. When I enter it, it tells me that the serial number is incorrect. I am using copy/paste, so cant be that I am entering wrong. How can I fix this?

What are the FIRST 4 characters of your serial number? I just want to know if it is a real serial number or simply a product number.

Also, have you tried pasting that code in Notepad before pasting it in Adobe product in question? Sometimes formatting characters may interfere with the pasting process. So basically paste it in Notepad and then copy from Notepad to paste it in PSE6.

When you boot from the installer, Select Disk Utility, then erase the disk. Then quit Disk Utility and install OSX Lion.
