Need advice in flash's global security settings

Hello guys!
So, I want to ask you a question regarding Adobe Flash Player's global security settings.
I have a .swf file on my computer which when I want to load it with mozzilla browser a security panel appears saying it is not trusted.
I changed the global security settings and the panel does not appear anymore.
But my question is, if I, as a host want to publish that.swf file on the web, with the global security settings changed, other user from different computers who acceses my web page get's the same security warning, do they have to change the global security settings on their own?
Or the problem is solved by me, as a host, by changing the global settings and trusting the .swf file only from my computer and so anyone can acces the specified web page without changing the global security settings.
Thanks!

let me clarify the issues:
1)websites/adnetworks are setting flash cookies in user's lso to avoid browser cleaning and to respawn
tracking cookies.
where is data that is attempted to be set by these websites/adnetworks but blocked by the global settings?
where is data that is set but not deleted yet by user?
where is data set and then deleted by user once they use global settings?
2) flash cookies set on user side are recorded in adobe global settings. user computer must be static, not static ip address, so the global settings on adobe can allocate flash cookies to each user's computer.
where is the "static address code" data associating the user's computer to the flash cookies being set?
3) In regard to issue#1, is any of that data shared with any other company?

  • Flash Player 8 global security settings

    I'm having some trouble with the global security settings in
    Flash Player 8. I have deployed the player successfully using GPO,
    but now have a piece of software (Nelson Thornes) that requires
    content from c:\program files\nelson thornes to be allowed in order
    to run. Manually enabling this using the settings manager works a
    treat, however it only changes it for the current user and I can't
    find any way of setting it per station so that I can package it up
    and deploy it. I can't expect all of my users to do this
    themselves.
    Please tell me there's a way of doing this?!?!

    There is an MMS.cfg file that you can deploy that will allow
    you to
    control this site wide without individual user interaction
    (overriding
    settings manager).

  • Allowing Global Security Settings for Local Flash Content

    Hi all,
    We have developed one e-learning course for our client. This
    course will be deployed on the CD; that means it will run locally.
    This CD will be dstributed to thousands of users. In this scenario
    I am currently suffering from the Global Security Settings issue as
    this project uses Fscommand to communicate with the javascript. We
    can set the Global Security mannually but it is not feasible to ask
    client to mannaully set the Security Settings to "always" as there
    are thousands of users viewing this course locally.
    I have tried setting "always" value to allowScriptAccess
    property of the Object/embed tag in the html but it does not work
    where the browser Security Settings are kept as "High".(I think
    this is the reason)
    So what will be the workaround for this issue?
    Please reply me if you gone through this problem and found
    any workaround.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Popocatepelt,
    Glad to hear that worked for you….

  • Flash 8 Player security settings Help

    Hi All. Im having some annoying problems with Flash player 8
    (the standalone player not web one).
    I am making a flash portfolio, and am using an XML file to
    import data (such as images and text) into the portfolio at
    runtime.
    Everything works when run in the flash IDE when i run the swf
    (see IDE.gif), but when i run it in local flash standalone player
    (see Player.gif), the images are blocked out (un-masked) - this
    doesnt happen when i view the swf on the web or when i make a
    projector, which makes me think its something to do with flash 8
    player security settings.
    ive already changed the settings, adding the local path of
    the file and the image directories, but still it wont work.
    what other settings do i need to change??

  • Global security settings do not save

    Hello,
    I'm using Flash version 10,0,12,36 on a new XP Pro 64bit
    system. We are running Flash projects from a network drive which
    works just fine on 32bit systems by allowing folder permissions in
    the Global Security Settings manager. These settings will not save
    on the 64bit version. The only reason I can think of is that the
    32bit "program files" directory is called "program files (x86)"
    which may not be what the player is looking for when attempting to
    save the setting.
    Is there a way to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    It's cause the SP 2 sux, change the security settings and try again, in MSIE you can do this under the Edit or Tools menu.

  • How do you handle global security settings so everyone on the network can view a desktop app with flash video?

    I have written a desktop application that allows a user to view a flash video presentation.  I would like to put this application on a network drive so that everyone can view the presentation at their leisure.  Is there any way to do this without having each each user enable the location in their global settings?  Basically, if the location is not listed, then the video player I am using fails to play.
    Thank you for you help in advance.

    I figured it out.
    It's under the pop-up window. Select edit locations to select confirm.

    I have web app that requires from users to have security set to medium on terminal server.
    I created deployment.properties and configured:
    deployment.security.level=MEDIUM
    deployment.security.level.locked
    Slidebar is locked ... but security is still set to high.
    I set it to very high .... and it work great - it is very high and locked.
    I also noticed that when i set slidebar to medium manually  deployment.security.level=MEDIUM (whole line not only medium) disappears from deployment.properties in user profile folder\appdata\...
    Installed jre is 7.21 (can got higher for now on).
    Anyone know how to solve that?

    I resolved this.
    WSAD 5.0 is not a good xml editor i feel:
    The values that i supplied through the admin console should be written in some xml file and it was unable to do so. Finally, i edited the xml files manually. this resolved the issue.

  • Flash Global Security & Links Not Working?

    Hi all,
    I am absolutely near some sort of breakdown with my Flash website....I really hope someone can help!
    I am building my portfolio website; I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 (on Mac) and inserting Flash animations in the centre of a table in each Dreamweaver page. All was working fine until I built the Contact page animation on Flash last night. I linked in some external websites to my Blog, Flickr and Twitter and also need a button to launch the user's default mail client.
    When I tested the animation (CMD+ENTR) in Flash the links appeared to be working, if after a few clicks. I then inserted the Contact animation into the Contact.html page on Dreamweaver and tested it in Safari. A dialogue box came up regarding something about security settings and Flash 8 (makes no sense as I am using Flash 9); and I ended up on the Global Security Setttings panel page on the Adobe website. I selected the entire folder the website is in on my hard drive under "Trust Files in these Locations". Now the ENTIRE website's flash animations are not working. There are links to internal pages of the site (i.e. a link to the "Contact" page in the animaiton on the Home page) which are now not working either. No error messages come up when I test the movie in CS3 either. I have refreshed Safari, restarted the Mac and redone the folder on the Global Security Settings panel. Also loaded the entire website onto a PC this morning, all links not working either.
    Actionscript 3 on the Contact page looks like this:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    //---Blog Button---\\
    var getBlog: URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.myblogsdomain.com");
    Blg_Btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, eClick);
    function eClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(getBlog, "_self");
    //---Twitter Button---\\
    var getTwitter: URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.twitter.com/mydomain");
    Twt_Btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, eClick1);
    function eClick1(event:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(getTwitter, "_self");
    //---Flickr Button---\\
    var getFlickr: URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.flickr.com/photos/mydomain");
    Flkr_Btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, eClick2);
    function eClick2(event:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(getFlickr, "_self");
    //---Email Button---\\
    var getMail: URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:[email protected]");
    Eml_Btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, eClick3);
    function eClick3(event:MouseEvent):void{
    navigateToURL(getMail, "_self");
    I'm not 100% sure if the e-mail AS3 I set up is correct, but as none of the links are working I can't test it. I cannot provide a link to the website as it isn't uploaded yet, and I don't really want to upload it not working properly.
    Any help at all would be gratefully received, I'm really, really on the brink of some sort of breakdown. Thanks.

    Thanks Samuel.Wong and Ned Murphy for the information.
    I'm not actually sure what happened but my website suddenly started working again today, I think possibly by selecting "Always Allow" on the Global Security Page as well as inserting every individual file as well as the folder under "Trusted Locations" has also done the trick.
    The external links appear to work when I test the movie in Flash CS3, but the same warning comes up once the movie is inserted into a Dreamweaver html page and tested in Safari. However I think when the links (all except the email ) appear to be working in Flash then it should be just fine once uploaded onto the server. Many thanks for your advice once again.

  • Flash Player Security Settings

    How can I get a copy of the global security settings manager
    for use on an Intranet?
    So far I can only change my security settings in flash
    through the internet and I need to do this on about 100 computers
    that are connected to my intranet with no means to connect to the
    internet.
    Thanks

    Hi mocca,
    Thanks again for your reply. You are giving me things to re-think about, I thought about all these options yesterday, but now that you mention them as the solutions, I will re-think with more gusto. A few things I'm still dwelling on:
    Why is that an issue?
    Because the users system settings should always override anything that comes from a disk... Same with any programm on my computer, if somwhere from a network/external drive wants to open my browser without my consent, why should it?
    Agreed. It should not. However, per the paradigm of my project on disk, the user launches the browser, the browser loads the swf, but the loading of all the other content is restricted. That seems counter-intuitive - since the user has already launched the main app, they obviously trust the app to run on their box, but they now have to go through an extra 'security layer' step in order to load the accompanying content.
    As per publishing to Air, I tried yesterday and Flash Builder kicked all sorts of errors. I'll try publishing to air more today...
    In the mindset of the great John Peterman: "Ah, the 'client changing requirements', where the client's expectations are high, the knowledge of the "level of effort" is low, and the process is terribly frustrating."
    Thx again,
    Chipleh

    Some Flash Player users are seeing what is basically a
    failure in Flash
    Player detection caused by an obscure Microsoft permissions
    bug. We
    updated the Flash Player uninstaller two weeks ago to
    hopefully resolve
    this type of situation. Please do the following and report
    back what
    happens:
    1. Read " How to uninstall the Macromedia Flash Player
    plug-in and
    ActiveX control" (
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/tn_14157)
    2. Download the 'regular' uninstaller in that technote to
    your desktop
    (uninstall_flash_player.exe). Do NOT run it from the server.
    Save it to
    disk.
    3. QUIT ALL RUNNING APPLICATIONS, INCLUDING ALL INTERNET
    EXPLORER
    WINDOWS AND AIM, Yahoo, MSN or other MESSENGERS.
    4. Run the saved uninstaller (uninstall_flash_player.exe)
    from your desktop
    5. REBOOT THE MACHINE (This step is very important!)
    6. Launch Internet Explorer.
    7. Go to
    http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer
    and reinstall.
    I cannot guarantee that just this will completely resolve the
    issue. But
    we keep working at it, so let me know what happens either
    way.

  • Global security

    Hi I realise there are multiple threads on this issue already but i'm a little confused about this. I have created an swf that manages to get all urls assigned to the buttons. When I publish the file I set the global security to allow that file to work and all links work. My question is when I transferred the html and swf to a new pc none of the buttons worked I was not even given an option to update global security settings by adding a new location
    If I was to load this swf to an ftp media server is that the location I need to allow and can I only do this from the original PC where the file was created as transferring it seemed to make the buttons not do anything
    Thanks

  • Security Settings

    Does anyone know how I can configure client's security settings in Acrobat via a centrally managed location?
    I need to be able to set security settings so when users print to pdf the document has the security applied and the user didn't need to do anything.
    Settings I'd like to configure on clients:
    Adobe PDF - Security:
    Restrict editing and printing of the document. A password will be required in order to change these permission setings.
    pre-set the password
    Prinint allowed: high resolution
    Changes allowed: none
    uncheck, enable copying of text, images and other content.
    check, enable text access for screen reader devices andthe visually impaired
    I would also like to set their printer preferences:
    Default settings: standard
    Adobe PDF Security: Use the last known security settings (which would be the above)
    Adobe PDF output folder: prompt for adobe pdf filename
    Adobe PDF page size: A4
    check. view adobe pdf results
    check, add document information
    uncheck, rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts
    check, delete log files for successful jobs
    check, ask to replace existing pdf file
    Thank you

    You're an Adobe staff correct?
    Capturing reg keys manually is usually not required unless you're doing something odd.
    This was your first suggestion.
    Start with the ETK to learn about preferences generally: www.adobe.com/go/acrobatetk.
    Then (since all those settings aren't documented), do the following:
    Your above post is genralizing, you stated yourself that those options are not documented. I don't want general information, provide me links to the information I need, I stated very clearly what I would like to acheive and what my objective was. Don't tell me that all the settings I want are not documented and then tell me that they are.
