Need Advice: Potential Gift Card Fraud

Hey all, this is really non-topic, but I couldn't find a place to post this, and I could use some advice.
I received a $500 gift card as a gift from my uncle back in mid-June to purchase an iPhone. I called yesterday to double check the balance, and to my shock it was $15.34! When I called the hotline, someone bought a external drive and something else for $484 at the Lenox Atlanta store on July 5th. However, I live in Brooklyn, NY, and the card has been in my possession since June.
I don't know how this could have happened. I contacted the Lenox store, and they said the physical card was swiped at the register, which is impossible because I have the card here in Brooklyn...so something is going on.
Basically, the manager at Lenox is contacting Apple Corporate to find out about filing fraud complaints, and I'm going to follow up tomorrow as well, but I wanted to get some advice/feedback from people on here. The manager said that for them to access video surveillance, I, not them, would have to file a police report. Would it be wise to do this asap, or should I wait until I hear back from Apple? I just don't know if filing a police report is more trouble that it's worth, esp since I'm in NYC and, I presume, I would have to deal with Atlanta authorities, but I don't want this issue to go on the backburner either.

Hi everyone, just wanted to post an update. Apple has continually refused to remedy this situation, and I'm not sure if I should go ahead and file a police report.
Today I did searching around, wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as me, and I found this:

This person describes almost exactly what happened to me...someone in the Atlanta area seems to be able to use gift cards PHYSICALLY although the blogger and I reside up North.

Sorry, but from reports it appears that the feature to email gift certificates has been disabled, probably due to the recent counterfeiting scheme that came out of China. For now, anyway, if you want to send an iTunes gift, you'll need to purchase an iTunes card and mail that to the recipient.

I don't know what you mean by that. iTunes gift cards are available through the online Apple Stores in those countries where iTunes cards are available and often from other retailers.

Need advice on video card

I just received my new MacPro 2x2,8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with two 500 Gbyte drives inside. I accidentally ordered four (4) ATI Radeon HD 2600 (256 Mbyte) videocards (stupid me - I thought "4xATI Radeon..." in the configuration meant that the card was 4 times more powerful than the cheapest card in the list...
So now I need to figure out what to do with the three extra cards I don't need. If Apple is not willing to take them back, I may sell them at ebay. What should I expect to get for a card like this?
I see that the ATI Radeon HD 2600 card is not the ultimate video card for the Mac... So I have started to wonder if I should have picked the more expensive card NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB. I have read some opinions about the difference between these cards, but it seems that all the reviewers are gamers. - What I will be using the card for, is to run FinalCutPro, Motion and ArtMaticPro/Voyager to create HD video and animations.
With the configuration I have now, I can't play back 1280x720 HD in Animation (almost no compression). I wonder if this is normal, or do I need a faster video card than the ATI Radeon? I ordered the Mac with 2 Gbyte RAM, and I am waiting for additional 4 Gbyte to arrive soon (from a retail store - that saved me at least 250 USD compared to ordering this much RAM from the Apple Store
Any thoughts and advice is very much welcome!

If I could use one of these to drive a second VGA CRT on my computer (same model as yours),
I might be willing to buy one of them.
I now know that I cannot use the same displays setup I had with my G4 with the new MacPro.
Would love to know if simply adding a video card would solve my problem.
My very old Apple CRT 15" monitor that I bough NIB about 2 years ago (and works great) doesn't play nice in a 2 monitor from 1 ATi Radeon 2600HD setup.
I am wondering if adding a second card will solve the problem.

As far as I know gift cards are not available in Indonesia, and you won't be able to use cards from another country as they are country-specific (they can only be used in their country of issue). Needed, Advice for Graphics Card & OSX Capabilities

I have a Dual 1 GHz Power PC G4 (Mirror Door) tower from 2002 (s/n#XB24706DMMA) (Model#M8570)
The graphics card is the original ATI 64MB AGP slot. Can anyone recommend a better card 128MB or 256MB?
Also, Currently I run OS 10.3.9 which is Panther.
Does anyone know how far up I can go with the Operating System? Tiger? Leopard?

I use Audition, Premiere Pro and After Effects (Dynamic Link) to edit concerts filmed on 4 HD Camera's (m2ts x3 and mp4) I also take and mix 6-8 tracks from soundboard and mix in audition. I find my system is struggling to keep up when I have done some color correction and then try to cut in multi-cam mode. My graphics card does not support CUDA and as stated above my system only has a 525w power supply. So a GeForce GTX 470, 570, 580 would not be compatable. I do not GAME but I work with large HD files (4 angles, 1-2 hours each, audio & effects).
My trouble is I don't know which one of the graffics cards that support Mercury play back, would be the best for my needs without having to upgrade my power source (if possable). I'm thinking a mid level card and another 8-12 ram upgrade would be more suited (and cheaper) to my needs, unless I'm going to need a power upgrade anyway. If someone could please let me know what card would help me with my worload of these that would be great! I guess what Im saying is can someone tell me which of these is compatable with my system and is it worth it for the change in performance I will see?

Right now I can get a 570 for 175 bucks... R4yMoNd. I'm no good when it comes to all that so thanks to both you for the help. I have tracked down a 670 in stock (seems tough) for $440 then I need a 700 w power supply for about 70. The graphics card doesn't care about your memory bus speed. The ATI 4870 will work in any Mac Pro.

However, when I tried to use the code, there was a message that the code had already been redeemed. I know that I personally have not used it and no one else had access to the code. If you bought an Apple gift card, then you cannot use it in the iTunes store. You can only use it in the Apple store for hardware.
You would need an iTunes gift card to buy anything in iTunes

In order to have an account in an iTunes Store, you need to have 1)a valid billing address in that country, 2)have a credit card billed to that address or an iTunes gift card purchased in that country and 3)you need to be physically located in that country.
So, you have two problems. According to the Terms of Sale, you can't use your Canadian account when you are in Costa Rica. And, if you open an account in Costa Rica, cards bought in Canada wont't work. You'd need to buy gift cards in Costa Rica.

I can't seem to be able to do that. My gift card has a number and a pin. Does this mean I can only use it phisically to buy in the store?

You do need an iTunes-Gift Card instead - Your card can be used for shopping at the Apple Online Store.

Gift Card bought in different country

Here is where it gets confusing. (I then have another question.)
I live in France. I used to live in Canada, so my current account is in Canada. (However, I had to have my system re-done of some sort and later changed my city/country to Somewhere, France.) Will I be able to redeem it, seeing as the address is Canadian?
Also, do I need to clear my money out before I can change countries? (I read this once, I believe on iTunes.) If so, what if I have let's say .27 in my account, can I clear that out somehow?
Also, I'm not quite sure the address is Canadian, it could be Somewhere, France now. lol

If you have a credit card in Canada for an address there you would need a Canadian gift card. If you go to Austria you would need an Austrian credit card, and address in Austria, and then you would be able to use the Austrian gift card.
As for location, here's what AppleUS says and I expect they are similar for other countries.

Unauthorized use of Best Buy gift card (Need Advice)

I purchased a Best Buy gift card off of a craigslist seller yesterday.
I was told the back of the card was not scratched off, so I thought it would be safe to buy. When the seller and I met, I scratched off the back to reveal the digits. I called to confirm the amount. I handed him the money.
After about half an hour later I check the Best Buy card again and the balance went down to a penny. The card was used online. It would seem the person that sold it to me is the one that used it, but he didn't know the number. So I can't say for sure he used it.
Anyways, my question: If I file a police report, would BestBuy.com look into this even though I'm not the original owner of the card? I still do have the physical card with me.
The person that used the card without persmission used it online. I called BestBuy.com to try to get them to stop the order and to put the credit back on the card, but they couldn't.

It takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch. Unfortunately, not everything that is purchased online is in good faith, and I apologize that you were a victim of online fraud.
Best Buy sees the original purchaser as the only one entitled to a refund, as long as a proof of purchase is provided, there generally is a credit issued only for the remaining balance of the gift card.
The person, who used the gift card without your permission, could have requested a refund and because it was reported to Best Buy, we will more than likely be looking to accommodate their request.
I encourage you to reach out to your local authorities, just like dragonkid suggested. It’s also important to document your report with Best Buy. Please log into the forum and select the private message found after my signature, to send me the gift card serial number and contact information. As soon as I get the information, I will compile a report of my findings so you can share with your local authorities.
Again, I am sorry for the experience that you are going though, I hope someone is able to catch the people that participating in this type of fraud and hopefully you can find closure.

You don't need an international credit card, to be able to buy items from your country's store (you can't use another country's store) the card needs to have been issued by a bank in your country and be registered to your name and address.
