Need all 5 audio ports

I have 5.1 speakers that works fine with the onboard soundcard :D , but recently i've added a tv tunner in my pc... and apparently  8o  it requires my line-in port.
is there anyway i can use all 5 audio ports at the same time? some mods maybe?  )
thx

hmm you're right about the front panel
but one BIG problem, enabling the front panel will disable the rear panel ?( ... and besides that, the front panel is for the line-out (which is not shared) and mic (not line-in)
well... i guess I'll have to buy new sound card..*sigh* :(
any recommendation on this?
I'm thinking of getting either Fortissimo III or Audigy.
one last thing, My CPU temp is 50° C. how normal is that?
(btw its a P4 1.8 G overclocked to 2.4 by rising fsb to 133, its stable though... )

  • Need all audio at same level

I have edited 13 basketball games for a highlight video. I have 3 sound tracks in each video:track 1 is audio from the game, track 2 is audio with effects clips -primarily digital juice swipes, etc. and track 3 is a song to rev up the action. I have a hard time keeping the volume of track 3-every game has a different song- at the same level through out the project. I can't figure out if I can do this in soundbooth-doesn't seem to want to import all of my audio tracks-i read posts here, but don't have "normalize" as an option under the stereo setting of audio effects...is there a way to do this besides "by ear"?

Actually, I think I just figured this out. Sorry to waste your time.

    Because line-in has been removed.
It does allow for an Apple headset with mic., but I don't know if it would work with third-party ones.
You'll need to use a Griffin iMic or similar to use line-in via a USB port.
The same goes for the 15" retina, the newest MBA and the new iMac (whenever it finally arrives).

  • I have a new iMac and want to use my HP 7300 All in One and to use the "Fax"feature I need a phone port on computer and of course, this computer does not have one.  Are there any aftermarket devices for USB to phone that would work in this case?

I have a new iMac and want to use my HP 7300 "All in One and cannot use the fax feature because there is no phone port is there a solution for this?BACellli

You don't need a phone port on the iMac. The HP 7300 DeskJet Pro has an internal modem, you connect the printer's modem connection directly to your phone line. Please re-read the install directions that came with the printer.

  • Dose the HDMI Cable have Audio Support or do I need to use the Optical Audio Port on the ATV?

I recently noticed that the Apple TV has an "Optical Audio" port on the back, next to the HDMI port. Before I buy one, will I need to buy a Optical Audio cable, or will the HDMI cable suply sound to the TV?

HDMI carries both audio and video. The optical port is for connecting to a receiver/external speakers.

  • How do I connect the Apple TV to the home theater if the optical audio port is in use

I had an airport express connected from the home theater system to the speaker out port on the express through which air play worked just fine. Then the express wouldn't work with my new router so I looked for something to replace it. The new Airport Express was the same price as the Apple TV and so I went with it for the added HDMI from NetFlix benefits. Now I find that the cables I used on the express won't work on the Apple TV. It wants an optical cable but there is only one port on the speakers and it is needed to get the sound from the TV to the speakers. So, is here a work around? An adapter or something? What I really wanted it for more than anything else was to use air play to get my music from the computer to the theater speakers.

I have a further question about this. It turns out I do have 2 optical audio ports but I was told I wouldn't need it if it was connected via hdmi. I have 4 ports and they are all in use so the question is whether the best solution is to just get an optical audio cable and connect it directly or get an hdmi splitter so I can add in the Apple TV?

  • Thunderbolt port wont connect to SAMSUNG and audio port detection disables internal speak forever

I've had this Yosemite (10.10.2) since it's launch and never have I encountered a problem with my hdmi-to-thunderbolt port adapter until now I actually decide to use it. I find out that I cannot display my Mac on any TV screen to play a movie, watch Netflix or, play a game in fullscreen.
That not the only problem I've encountered.
I've encountered the internal speak disappearing from the audio output settings when I plugin my headphone. When I remove the jack from the audio port the internal speaker doesn't alway come back when I want it to. There needs to be a manual way to switch back or a thing to switch of the auto-detection.

    Eric,
Thanks for the advice but, my Macbook pro is all the way up to date with the latest stuff. I this is of a more software issue I ran into and found out the new OS (Operating System) has affect my Thunderbolt port. I'm wondering if there's a way to fix it?

  • Analog Audio into Macbook Pro Audio Port

I'm trying to pass an analog audio music signal from an external recorder thru my mac pro.
    Preferences settings are:
    Input- audio port
    Output-internal speakers
Signal is hitting the computer and registering on the input level indicator as being received but it is not being delivered by the internal speakers.
The signal from the external recorder has been verified by myself via the use of a set of headphones.
Apple Care expert technicians insist that a driver should be provided by the external device (which to me is rediculous) however I called them the device mfr.to check which resulted in nothing being available, as I expected.
Is the mac manual correct that a line level mic. (which I interpret as being an alalog signal) should work with my Mac??

I don't know what the Apple manual you're referring to says on the subject, but I doubt that LineIn is performing an analog-to-digital conversion, since the speakers need an analog signal.
And I don't think LineIn provides any amplification, either. It just enables a software path from the audio input to the speakers that isn't there otherwise. If your speaker volume is acceptable, then the signal you're inputting is already preamplified (= line-level).
But I'm no audio professional, and I could be wrong about any of this. All I really knew was that LineIn would serve your needs if your incoming signal was suitable, as it apparently was.

  • Can i use ALL usb ports and firewire port at same time??

can you plug in two usb devices and a firewire device, all at the same time??
    into macbook or macbook pro....
macbook manual says, one high powered usb device can be plugged in.
but i dont know if they mean into each port, or at one time in total.
i just spoke to apple, and they told me to call support. i havent even bought the laptop yet.
i want to plug in a fast track pro audio interface = usb
a mouse = mouse, akai mpd16 drum pad = usb, and a 7200rpm firewire external hard drive..........so all my ports i wanna be using at the same time.
is this possible? or will macbook and the macbook pro differ in performance regarding this issue?
say if i buy a usb hub and plug in 5 usb devices...........possible?
    or is their limitations??
    thanks in advance.

MacBook - since I was replying to a MacBook question it wouldn't have exactly made sense to refer to my iMac experience, right?
BTW - there are two caveats. First, USB and FW ports can supply power to the devices that are plugged in but there is a limit to how much power they can supply which is why you should always use a powered hub if you are using a hub. If you are using your computer on battery, don't attempt to use an unpowered hub to plug in more devices. Second, if you are on battery, obviously the more unpowered USB/FW devices you have plugged in getting their power from the computer, the faster your battery will be drained.
An unpowered hub shouldn't pull in more than 500 mA. If it's four 100 mA devices plugged into the same hub, it wouldn't use more than a single 500 mA device like maybe a self-powered hard drive. Plugging in stuff like a USB mouse and a flash drive shouldn't consume too much power.
If you're already on battery power then I don't know if it would make much sense to say that one needs a powered hub; where's the power source? I know there are a few (rare) battery-powered USB hubs out there, but I don't know that many people who have them.

  • I have a record player hooked up through the audio port.  The input volume is registering high, but there is no output anywhere.  Help?

I have a record player hooked up to a preamp which is hooked up through the audio port. The sound settings are set to have the audio port be "input".  The input volume is registering high with fluxuations in the sound settings, but there is no output anywhere.  Do I need some sort of third party application or widget to hear the record i'm playing through the speakers that are hooked up to my computer?

    keithstopher,
You may want to check into a USB interface, as I believe you have a Mac with the single audio port, which can be used as input OR output.
You may want to check into something like the following, there are may out there, see what fits your needs best.

  • How to find all JMX ports on a server?

How to find all jmx ports on particular server (say localhost) on windows
I have multiple JVM's running on my local server, and there is extensive use of JXM mbeans by the applications running on each server. So I want to connect to all these JMX servers and to instrument the MBeans using Jconsole(Jconsole localhost:<port>). But I don't know the port numbers, and its not logged by the application.
How do I find all the ports jmx servers connected?
Note : In my case I can not instrument using the PID.
    thanks,
    bala K

    Hi kajbj,
I tried stop/start the application, but couldn't find any difference in the netstat command. I know it should show the JMX port (I am able to see on a test application), but this application's JMX port usage is missing.
netstat -ano --> Do i need to use any other commands?
I just injected few lines of code ( to list the MBeanServers programatically), to this application (did some usual tweaks to let this code execute at some time) and its listing couple of MBeanServers and lot of MBeans.
    MBeanServerFactory.findMBeanServer(null); and so on.....
Is there a way to get the port using the Management API's?
    thanks,

I no longer have sound when playing my clips through adobe premiere elements 12. How to I correct this problem? I have checked all audio levels and there is no mute on etc. I updated to 12.1, but still no sound in any clips. Even not on old files which used to work.

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 running on? Can we assume that this audio plays back OK
on the same computer when you are using a computer player independent of Premiere Elements?
What are the properties of these clips that worked before but do not know with regard to sound
For now, I will assume that you are working on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
Have you checked the Edit Menu/Preferences/Audio Hardware ASIO settings? Do you have any 3rd party audio devices incorporated in your computer environment?
Please delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if that does not work, then the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. The Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit path is
    Local Disk C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    12.0
and, in the 12.0 Folder, is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Make sure that you are working with Folder Option "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" active so that you can see the complete path cited.
Do you have installation files or installation disc with the purchased serial number in case we need to resort to uninstall/reinstall?
We will be watching for your follow up.

Can I watch a DVD o my TV from my laptop with an adapter and HDMI cable or do I need an audio cable as well?

A seperate audio cable isn't required for your MBpro model.  It will send audio over the HDMI cable if you use the proper MiniDisplay port to HDMI adapter that supports audio.

  • Can I mute all audio from Final Cut Pro X?

Can I mute all audio from Final Cut Pro X so that I can listen to music while I do sorting, keywording, favoriting, etc? I'm doing a video where all the camera audio won't be used anyways, so I don't need to hear it in FCPX.. I'd rather just listen to my music instead. Thanks.

For clips in the timeline, andynick's suggestion works fine - temporarily disable the audio roles will play everything without audio and you just have to reenable these roles later.
For clips in the Event Browser, you can also disable and reenable audio for a bunch of clips all at once. Select the all the clips you want, open the inspector, click the audio tab and uncheck the box (for "stereo" or "mono" or whatnot) under "Channel Configuration". Again, to reenable just check this box again.

  • Buzz or Hum in Audio Port

My MacBook Pro has a low-level hum or buzz coming out the audio port
whenever sound is coming out of it, and for 25 seconds more.  Then it stops.
The noise sounds a bit like the 60-Hz hum or 120-Hz buzz from tube amps,
but it occurs even when my MacBook is running on its batttery,
    unplugged from its power supply.
The buzz is constant, independent of orientation of my computer, and sounds
about the same in all locations I've tried.
I can't hear it from the computer's speakers, but that's probably because
the built-in speakers' frequency response drops off above the most prominent
frequencies in this buzz.  I can hear it through Apple's earbuds  faintly.
The buzz is most annoying through audiophile headphones or external speakers.
The buzz occurs with any application that makes sound.  Even system
bleeps will cause it.  After the sound stops, the buzz continues for 25 seconds.
    Then the buzz stops.
I took my computer to the Genius Bar, but it was so noisy there that neither of us
could hear the buzz.  He took it in back where he used Apple earbuds, then reported
that the machine is "in spec".  Well, foo.
Any idea what happens inside the computer 25 seconds after the music stops?
I suppose I could try USB sound output.  Any recommendations?
