Need alternate PDF software

I created a book in QuarkXPress 6.5 with imported jpeg photos.
I only used one weight of 2 fonts.
The covers printed RGB properly both photos and fonts.
The inside pages printed CMYK and had the wrong font substituted.
Both covers and inside pages used the exact same fonts.
I created the PDF files for all the books using "Export: Layout as PDF" in Quark.
The printer says "Quark has always had sub-par PDF support" hence the reason for the error.
Is there another PDF creation software other than Adobe I can use?
Adobe has a free trial offer, but it's only for Windows.

What is peculiar is that previous books created exactly the same way but using OS 10.3 printed ok.

I cannot profess to understand the nuances of Quark’s export layout to PDF because sometimes it works as I imagine it to and sometimes it does NOT. I generally print to PDF using the Adobe Acrobat print driver that invokes Acrobat Distiller in which I have created custom parameters. Anyway, the more I think about this, you might try a few different parameters to see what works. Try (a) unchecking the subset font option in hopes that it forces embedding of all your fonts; or (b) with both font option boxes checked, set the subset fonts to 100%.
One other question…Are you using the actual Garamond Light Italic and Helvetica Light Oblique fonts or are using Garamond Light and Helvetica Light and then the “style” italic and oblique? If the latter, change to the former. You can do this globally with Replace in the Usage selection under the Utilities menu.
In the past, saving to PDF through the OS as Limnos suggested created large files because there are no options to customize. For example, if I am creating a PDF for a client review, the high-resolution photos only need to be low resolution that is different from the need for lithography printing.

Looking for PDF Software

I couldn't find an appropriate category for this question. I'm looking for PDF software for my Mac. Adobe Acrobat Writer is ridiculously expensive so I'm wondering if anyone else uses another PDF writer. Also wondering how old a version of Adobe Writer will run on my 2006 Intel MacBook.

A basic work around, with a few possible issues, may be to use the
Print option to 'save as pdf' so using another application and see if
this works (outside of saving a web page or other content) with a
word processing application, such as Text Edit.
There may be a way to use an older Adobe Acrobat (for OS X) in
the later version on Intel hardware, since it may be able to work
in Rosetta environment; this will consume more system resources
if it does work there. The ideal minimum system requirements are
on the retail packaging for Adobe Acrobat related products; so the
manufacturer's web page or some other information source may be
able to shed more light on these details in obsolete software.
Of course, since the Intel Mac can't run Classic/9 that limits useful
yet out of date other versions of older Acrobat or Adobe products.
There should be a support forum for Adobe acrobat and other apps
directly linked to their site online.
There may be some freeware or shareware capable of making .pdfs
from other documents, not sure how advanced they'd be. For a time
I had a few freeware utilities for working with .pdf items, to combine
and compress; and break them smaller so I could email them, some
years ago when attachments had to be smaller than in gmail.
In a google search window, you could find and screen some possible
options; I noticed (without entering mac or osx) I get some options in
a list possible pre-search topics when just entering ' make pdf ' in a
new google search box; other choices appear below my entry...
By adding the suffix ' mac os x ' to my search terms, I get proof of
concept (been using it for years) of making a pdf document from
a text editor or word processor document, by using Print options:

There may be a freeware utility among the download links at
VersionTracker or macupdate pages; among their other items.
Also, in Apple Support there are third party software D/L links.
In shareware applications for handling pdf content, there are
editors which allow one to edit or use pdf documents that are
blank or need words added, and correct or fill them out; or
to change content on documents you have authorization for.
This usually costs. A few may provide a limited use demo.

Sorry to say that, but the entire system seems ill-designed.
If I understand correctly, then to add a new Section to a site, you have to subclass SubSection and somewhow integrate that into the system?
I would be my expectation that you only need to subclass SubSection when you tried to introduce a new type of SubSection.
The title & all other natural language Strings should never be hardcoded in Java code, but rather taken from some external storage (Database, XML, flat files, ...).

After upgrading to mountain lion, the in-browser PDF software changed to Adobe. I have been trying to figure out a way to change it back to preview for quite some time now. My reason for wanting it changed back is that the Adobe software is very slow and scrolling always acts up in one way or another (Speeds up, slows down, doesnt work, ect.) I am a chemistry PhD student, so I download pdf journal articles very frequently. I would like to be able to open a PDF article and see if it is worth downloading in my browser.

I had been saving as a PDF and then reducing the size of the PDF by printing it as a PDF with a degree of image compression. I write manuals with a LOT of screen captures and line art that needs to be clear. So it is a balancing act between image clarity and PDF size. The PDFs on the web need to be smaller - sure you can undertsand.
Anyway, when I print the PDF again, I lose both my destinations and bookmarks.
Anyone know of any way to avoid that?

Control the images by creating a custom PDF Job Options and then selecting it in the PDF Job Options drop-down of the PDF setup dialog box (File > Save as PDF...)
Create the custom PDF Job Options file with Distiller. If you do not have Distiller, open the Printing Preferences of the Adobe PDF printer. Start with the Smallest File Size Job Options settings and Edit.

I am having the same problem. I even changed my password and updated all of my security information. Now it just gives me an error and retry message, which of course also does not work. Went to support and was going to open a chat (seemed the simpler option) and received a message that my support has expired for this serial number unless I want to pay $29.00. So I chose the option to call later, which was the exact time suck I was trying to avoid. Why wouldn't the new operating system also update the apps that were already part of my old platform?

It sounds like you have a 1G iPod Touch, in which case you can only upgrade to iOS version 3.1. Here is a link to purchase the update.

On my laptop the "PDF -download, by Nitro PDF software" doesn't figure and pdf files open normally and not seperatly in the mainframe of for example www.centrum-veurne.be

Nobody could possibly think anyone would ask for help without first trying to fix the issue oneself. Or maybe you do. I have opened the file and looked under security. I have changed it to owner-notebook (which is what the techs called me) and clicked accept but geepers it didn't work.
Maybe someone else has an idea.

Number one - that person has given you false information...the Apple store genius bar supports all Apple products whether in or out of warranty. Checking is free, service on an out of warranty item is not free.
Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
Since you show that you have iOS 7.0.3 you might want to update that iOS to 7.0.4...plug the iPhone in so you are on a solid power source, then while on a WiFi go to Settings > General > Software Update and update to 7.0.4.

If you have an HDMI connection on your computer, it is most likely an output, it won't recieve a signal unless it's on a video capture card. Recording to the PC could be a difficlut task. HDMI is encrypted to keep you from copying but there are ways to do it. It would also depend on what content you intended on recording. If it's movies you have purchased or rented, it would be illegal.

Probably don't need citrix software. Is you computer in the office on LAN? Also, is the office computer setup for remote access? If it's windows then its going to be running Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) natively. If it is in fact RDP that your windows machine at work is using then you need to download RDC for mac. I use it to connect to my work computer using RDP (don't tell the "Info Tech" dude at my office) and if your not too tech savvy I would suggest trying GOTOMYPC. It's alot easier to setup. But if you have experience in setting up remote access and your Windows office machine is connected through LAN and your IT TECH has allowed port forwarding then you should be just fine with RDP and it's free!!! But are you logging onto your actual computer at work or logging into the "SERVER" through your work machine... believe me it's two completely different things.
Basically, you'll need:
1. Physichal IP address of work computer. (If office computer is on WIFI this won't work) use IPCONFIG commands in command prompt
2. Port forwarding needs to be enabled by your IT Tech
3. Remote Desktop settings will need to be enabled on the office computer
4. Download RDC for mac (search google)
5. Type the physical IP address into RDC and hit connect... type in credentials and your all done.
We need lots more details though... there are many ways to connect remotely and if your office already has a system in place for remote access then any details would be helpful in determining which method will suit you best. If it's citrix just have your IT dude set it up. If you think you need citrix then good luck....
