Need an alternative to RealPlayer ASAP

I have a deep-seated, undying hatred for RealPlayer, and do not want their adware-infested crap on my machine. That said, unfortunately, the teacher credentialing program I just started uses it as an integral part of most the courses I'll be taking. I've been looking around online to little avail for something that'll work around this, so I thought I'd drop a note in here. Has anyone found a decent (****, I'll even settle for subpar) alternative?

Well if you're feeling daring... create a virtual Linux machine (through Parallels or VMWare) and apply the restricted-extras package (restricted = not open source) and play through one of the OS's included players.
I have an Ubuntu Hardy installation at the moment, which plays .rm files through its Totem player.
Other than that, not much else you can do. RealMedia is a proprietary codec.

Let's start with the general things.
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?

Did you have the phone unlocked by AT&T or someone else? Only AT&T can authorize unlocking it. If you had it unlocked any other way, you got ripped off.

There is nothing that you can do except do what the phone is asking you to do and plug it into a computer to update it with iTunes.
I think Apple would have given you the same response too because there is nothing else that you can do - there is no other way to update the phone except by plugging it into a computer and using iTunes.
There is nothing we can do if you don't like the answers you are getting, but there is nothing else to do and it is hardly Apple's fault if you don't own a computer any longer. Unfortunely you need a computer for this, so there is really no work aounrd.

Alternative to RealPlayer on E71x

Hi,
The RealPlayer installed on my E71x other than the fact that movies get stuck all the time, doesn't have fast forward, which becomes really annoying as I stopped watching somthing and then want to continue from the middle or fast forward the piece I saw.
Is there any alternative video player that will work on E71x?

Need an alternative to rp-read-infotype to display infotype txts frm a BSP?

Hi All,
I need to display infotypes maintained texts(F9) from a bsp. I created a test program to read these texts using rp-read-infotype and got it working but didn't realise i couldn't use this method in a BSP until i copied it in. total bummer!
Does anyone know of an alternative that i can use in a BSP.

Can you try using FM READ_TEXT / RFC_READ_TEXT to get the infotype text
and then find the equivalent function on BSP side .

Need better alternative to Adobe AIR Application Installer

In order to build a double-clickable desktop application,
apparently one has to use the Adobe AIR Application Installer. This
is bad for a few reasons:
It's not scriptable.
It hard-wires the name of the swf file to load into the
generated binary.
For Mac OS X, the "swf launcher" should be a simple "launcher
stub". The name of the swf file to load should be read from the
Info.plist file. If it did this, then the stub could be the same
for all applications. For Windows, there could be a simple XML
config file in the same directory as the app that serves the same
purpose as Info.plist on the Mac.
I hope Adobe addresses this soon.

"easy-to-use" GUI application (because that sells to other PHBs).
As to drag-and-drop: presumably, the swf launcher that gets
generated properly handles drag-and-drop of files onto the
application's icon and Does The Right Thing when it happens (where
"right thing" usually means simply opening the document dropped
onto the icon). Now, since my launcher gets launched instead, that
breaks drag-and-drop unless I implement that functionality myself.
The way I've implemented my launcher is such that, after the
fork(), it's the parent process that exec's itself into the client
thus keeping the original process ID. The hope is that Launch
Services on the Mac, when handling and drag-and-drop event, will
send said event to the original process -- which is now the client
-- and everything Just Works. I have yet to get around to testing
this (I'm busy with other things at the moment); but, if it turns
out that my hope isn't fulfilled, well then I can fall back to
keeping my launcher running to get and forward the OpenDoc
AppleEvents from my launcher to the swf launcher.
So, anyway, back to my original plea: Adobe,
please just give us a command-line replacement for the Air
Application Installer (preferably just a launcher stub that reads
Info.plist). Thanks.

I don't have a keyboard or mouse for my mac, I need an alternative!

So here's my situation: I'm on my ipad right now, I have a mac, I have internet, but I have no keyboard or mouse so I can't do ANYTHING on my mac computer. I've tried apps for wireless keyboard and mouse on my mac but those have downloads that need to be added on my mac, but I can't download them because I can't do anything. All I have is a free USB mouse I got from healthpartners clinic, which I tried plugging in and the right click works and it's able to be moved around, but the left click does not work. I also have a very old hp keyboard but it doesn't have a USB plug in, only a gray cord with a purple end.
I really need help to figure out what I can do to use my mac without a keyboard and mouse and with the tools I already have! Please help I need to start using my computer ASAP! Thank you in advance!
