Need an app/lib that consume a lot of CPU

Currently designing a light java middleware to work on clusters and grids, I need a java application to load the CPU usage of the computers. Is there something available somewhere ?
Thanks.

Why does it have to be "something more interesting" if the only goal is to produce CPU load??

    Regards,Hi. You can query v$sesstat,v$statname and can join with v$session then you will get which session consume how much memory like below query
    select
            username,
            sess.sid,
            value,
            name
    from  v$sesstat sst,
            v$statname sn,
            v$session sess
    where sst.statistic#=sn.statistic# and
    sess.sid=sst.sid and
    username is not null and
    upper(sn.name) like '%MEMORY%'
    order by username

  • EA1 - consumes a lot of CPU

    New 2.1.0.62 EA1 consumes a lot of CPU on my Macbook with MacOS 10.6.1.
    After I have opened two database connections (Oracle) everything seems to be fine (CPU usage 2% and below), but after I have executed some sql statements I will never get below 7% of CPU usage. It gets even worse the longer you work with SQL Developer (> 25 %).
    The statements I have executed did not have many rows (< 100) and do not take long (< 1 s).

    Hi Barry,
    sorry haven't seen that you have edited this thread. Yes, for me it is still the case. I just updated to 2.1 final release and am testing. I am using SQL developer for 40 minutes now and it is consuming 24-25% of the CPU(s). ... after 2 hours of work it is at 35-36%.
    Is there any tool that I can use to track this issue down or any information that I can send you? The suggested "topthreads" does not work here :-(

    hi,
    Have you configured a Central Monitoring System (CEN)? This includes registering the agent on the CEN, starting it and configuring the Central Auto Reactions on CEN using RZ21 transaction.

  • Firefox consumes a lot of CPU resources after some time

    Hi,
    I've upgraded from Firefox 3.5.16 to Firefox 5.0 on Linux i386 with 512 MB RAM. Everything is working fine until after "some time" (don't know the exact time period) the CPU load increases to 100%, my average system load explodes and the system is swapping memory wildly. This suddenly happens, even if Firefox is in the background while I'm working on different things. So it does not belong to any memory-hungry stuff like Flash pages or JavaScript sites.
    I don't think the problem is caused by my extensions (adblock, noscript, multifox, tabloc) or plugins (mplayer/Flash) either.
    I think it is the Javascript Garbage Collector. I could tweak its cycle time in about:config, but this would just be work around the problem.
    Note that I usually have many open (app) tabs that extensively use Javascript and AJAX.
    I really like the new Firefox features, but I haven't expected that "5.0" stands for 5.0 average system load. Sorry couldn't resist that remark ;D

    I updated to Firefox Aurora this morning. Problems seem to be solved. Thank you!

  • Need an App. uninstaller that works with Leopard.

    I need to clear space on my MBP hard drive and upgrading it's internal drive is way too expensive, if you want to preserve your warranty. (Apple Stores won't do it!) I have an external drive, but I'm trying to use it as little as possible cause its a pain to carry around and set up, plugs and wires etc. So I need to find a good, Leopard compatible, application uninstaller. There are too many to choose from: Clean Sweep, CleanApp, AppZapper, Forklift etc.
    What has anybody tried, and what are you happy with, and what seems to find all those pesky hidden files?
    I know Leopard is an issue because most of the above apps make mention on their sites of issues they are having when working with Leopard.
    Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, John

  • T420s: Conexant Audio Message Service consumes a lot of CPU time in Windows 8

    Hi,
    I have here two models of T420s running Windows 7 and Windows 8.
    The Windows 7  model is quiet and the Service Needs no cpu time during idle.
    The Windows 8 model is noisy (the fan is Spinning) and the Conexant Audio Message Service (Version 1.6.0.0) is consuming 30% of cpu during idle.
    Any suggestions?
    Solved!

    Pretty sure you can just disable the service. I did on my W520 with no ill effects.

  • Kernel_task consumes a lot of CPU

    Hello!
    I have MacBook Pro 5,5 with Mac OS 10.6.8.
    It always slows down during charging and periodically when it works on a battery.
    I have analyzed threads with Shark and it shows that AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement::~AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement eats ~80% of CPU (total 200%).
    When I took system to sleep mode then waked it up, all works fine for some time (10-20 seconds), but then it again slows down.
    Resetting SCM doesn't help.
    How could I solve this problem?

    Fixing kernel_task overloding your computer!!!
    Use this at your own risk. It worked for me.
    Basic Procedure:
    1- Click in the apple logo on the upleft corner, select "About This Mac".
    2- Click in "More Info".
    3- Click in "System Report".
    4- Take note of "Model Identifier".
    5- Create a new folder called "Recovery_Kernel_Task".
    6- Select Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext
    7- Click the mouse right button at that file and select "Show Package Contents"
    8- Open the folder Contents/Resources.
    9- Look for the Model Identifier in step 4.
    10- Move the file to the folder you've created, if you need to restore the file.
    11- Check the folder in step 8 has 49 files instead of 50 (original files).
    12- Restart the computer and be happy!

  • Dhcpcd consumes a lot of CPU when wireless switch is off

    If I turn my hardware wireless switch off, dhcpcd goes crazy and uses a CPU core completely. Checking with htop, the command being run is:
    dhcpcd -4qL -t 30 wlp13s0
    where wlp13s0 is my wireless interface. I'm using netctl-auto to connect to the network.
    It goes back to normal as soon as I turn the switch back on.
    The network configuration under /etc/netctl to which it was connected before I turned the switch off is
    Description='Automatically generated profile by wifi-menu'
    Interface=wlp13s0
    Connection=wireless
    Security=wpa
    ESSID="network"
    IP=dhcp
    Key="password"
    Is there anything I can do so that dhcpcd won't try to use all my CPU in such cases?
    EDIT (2014.05.28):
    I looked in the following wiki pages, but couldn't find anything about this issue:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Br … leshooting
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dhcpcd
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … figuration
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Netctl
    I couldn't find anything about dhcpcd and cpu usage in the forums, and searching the web didn't provide any relevant results. Which is bad, since anatolik found this:
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/39512
    which I didn't.

    ondoho wrote:Have you tried connecting to the network manually, then pressing the switch?
    If I turn the switch on after turning it off, I must connect manually using netctl (that is, netctl-auto doesn't connect automatically in this case). After doing that, turning the switch back off does not cause the problem. Which is weird, since the process is still there, like before
    I also noticed that it is no longer possible to use netctl-auto after turning the switch off, as it no longer see any configuration (running `netctl-auto list` as root returns nothing, while before it returned 2 items).
    ondoho wrote:how did you install and activate wireless
    I basically followed this wiki page:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ne … f_profiles
    I first generated the profiles with wifi-menu and by copying /etc/netctl/examples/ethernet-dhcp, and then activated netctl-auto using
    # systemctl enable [email protected]
    # systemctl enable [email protected]

    anatolik wrote:I suspect you see this bug https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/39512
    Yes, it looks very similar.  It is said there that the problem should be fixed since 2014-04-01 11:48:57, but I just checked for updates with pacman and I already have the most recent version (6.3.2).  I will see if I can add any relevant information to that page.
    I did notice that my wireless interface disappears when I turn the switch off (ifconfig doesn't show it anymore), and it only reappears when I reconnect manually. I'm not sure if that is expected, since the commit that should have solved the problem says:
    On a read error, remove the FD from eloop. This shouldn't happen really

  • Swing consumes a lot of cpu?

    I developed model server-client application. Up to 100 or more clients can manipulate small random access file simultaneously locally or remotely. When I run the program in testing mode without gui, with a lot of logging to many files and to standard output too, with a lot of threads madly trying to corrupt my file, I can hardly see task manager reacting. When I test my application with gui (server has small console) and client has rather complicated ui, even if i do not do anything, task manager shows cpu usage 98%. If i am doing something and gui must repaint (very little), it's painfull to watch. The frame or/and its children are repainting in patches intersecting each other and cpu usage is just hovering. What does it do? I have xp pro, powerful comp. and a lot of memory. I have to work in jdk 1.3 at this moment.
    What I supposed to do? Why does it stink so badly?
    Will be glad to any hints.

    Thank you. SwingWorker is my long time favorite. I am using it since its first release. I also would recommend it to anybody.
    I ran a profile on the program with -Xprof flag.
    Honestly, I am not good at interpreting it. If anybody happens to see anything of value, please point out.

  • Why Firefox Has Spikes In CPU Usage And Consumes A Lot Of RAM Since Security Update?

    After applying security update 3.6.18 i started having this problem. I had this problem earlier but it only happened after several days Firefox was opened constantly. Now i have this problem several hours later after launching Firefox.

    I have Flash disabled.
    What is going on? Should i reinstall Firefox 3.6.18?

    Have you any particular reason for using an older version of Firefox.
    Whilst I rarely use firefox 3.6 now, and do not know the answer I will comment that the now unsupported firefox 4 did have bad memory problems in some cases. Some of those problems were addressed in firefox 5, and others are addressed in Firefox 7, which is due out on the Aurora channel next week.
    You could consider upgrading to a newer version of firefox. If you need firefox3.6 only for limited use you could consider using Firefox portable, alongside a newer version of Firefox.

    Contrary to many statements that Firefox 5.0 is RAM optimized and uses less, i still have Firefox eating '''[http://i.stack.imgur.com/i1AgT.png almost ~800MB of RAM and mapping more]'''.
    I used command:
    ''about:memory''
    And was presented with a modules/extension tree and i don't understand what each means. Does anybody here have experience or knowledge about this here who could tell me where may be the problem?

    Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
    Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.
    Still want more, Restore in iTunes, setup as New.

    The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
    To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
    After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
    If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.
