Need an Explanation for an Failure ID from Hardware Diagnostics-8440p

Hello,
i have an hp 8440p and got the Problem that the Primary Battery is suddenly not charging. Worked perfectly the other day.
I tried a suggested solution in this forum where the acpi control method battery in the hardware device manager has to be uninstalled. That did not work.
I started the HP Battery Check under Windows and i got no errors.
When i used the HP Hardware Diagnostics, i've got the following informations:
Failure-ID:6br0GJ-50c78p-x87r5g-c0f003
As my notebook is not covered under warranty(i think), i have no way to contact hp Support.
Which would be perfect, would be if anybody could tell me what has happened to the battery, if i have to replace it and how to avoid such errors.
The current Current of the Battery is:0mA
And just out of curiosity: The HP Battery Check shows under Cycles : 243/300.  Does this mean it only had around 60 charging cycles left? <- This would really ease the pain of buying a new battery.
Thanks for your time and your answers.

Hi,
Firstly the good news is battery can "live" much more than that, it still can be in good condition at 600 cycles. And the bad news is that 24 character failed-id tells you the HDD on your machine is failing. Please backup file and data, ready for a HDD replacement.
Regards.

  • I lost my Blackberry and I need a solution for preventing information from being seen.

HELP! I lost my business BB Curve 8320 the other day. It was supposedly found and the person was going to mail it to me, but I haven't heard from him in 2 days. Is there any way to prevent him from looking at business classified emails on my phone? I do not have a password on the phone and called T-Mobile (my carrier) who says I am out of luck. Can you delete an email address or anything? I really don't want my information in the wrong hands.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!!

    Hi
Sorry to hear your trouble. maybe its in the mail as we speak.
If you have a BIS account, you could log-in on PC and edit/delete it. If you run on BES, your admin will need to sort it.

  • As I want to buy an iPad Air2 and am told that I also need a computer as backup to go with it, I was wondering if I could use the MacMini with the iPad Air2. Is this possible or do I need a computer for downloading my files from the iPad to a disc?

CAn I use an iPad Air2 with a MacMini like a computer... Using the iPad as a display and keyboardfor the MacMini???

A Mac Mini s a computer you can use with the iPad.
YO do not need a computer fro backup since yo can backup to iCloud.
However, sometimes software glitches occur and require connecting the device to a compute to restore vi iTuunes.
You can control a computer via an iPod with an app like TeamViewer or LogMeIn. There are others too.
You can also use an iPad a a SECONDAY monitor for a computer. with other apps.
You need a dedicated monitor,  keyboard and mouse to setup the Mini. You can use a PC USB mouse and keyboard.

  • Possible cause for Faces failures (migration from an older version)

I've had no luck with Faces recognizing faces in images.
I think that the issue is with how the images got to iPhoto.
I imported 2000+ images from my iBook (iPhoto 04). Of those, Faces failed in ~>95% of the images. Today, I took two junky photos with Photobooth, including a dark and distant shot. Faces recognized that there was a face in the image, although it hadn't learned the face, yet (I know, that takes time).
I believe the issue might have to do with the fact that I imported images from a distant version (i.e. coming from iPhoto 4 instead of iPhoto 07 or 08, or whatever).
Or, possibly that I migrated from another machine as opposed to upgrading iPhoto on the same machine?
Hopefully this line of reasoning will isolate the problem's cause.
Please reply if you are having success or not, as well how your photos got into iPhoto '09 (i.e. Migration from another computer and type, prior iPhoto version, etc.)
    I'll start...
I migrated my images from iPhoto 4 from an iBook (PPC) and have had very little, if any, success with Faces recognizing faces in images.
    Thanks!

I just imported (from my Treo) three images that were exactly the same as the three successes from Photobooth.
Being from different sources they cannot be the same. Maybe the face in the photo was the same but the rest of the file, i.e. the metadata is different. Some image sources write metadata differently and that can cause issue. It's probable that iPhoto is expecting the metadata to adhere strictly to the EXIF/ITPC standards and some of the sources don't in writing the metadata to the file.
Report the problem to iPhoto via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html and give the details of the photos as you've done here. That will help them better understand the issue and get a fix out.

    Hi.
The first method is confusing as most of it doesn't do anything. You could replace it with a one liner. ;)
It returns true if and only if the string has one or more characters and none of those characters are one of the special characters. The special characters include digits but not letters such as [ ] { } \
The second and third methods implement a simple rotation encryption for up to 11 character strings. (Longer strings result in an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundException)

  • I need a workflow for a PAL DVD from Sony HXR-NX5U footage.

    Dear community,
My task is as stated in the title.
Please let me know what process you guys and/or gals have with complete success.

OK, my camera shoots in NTSC frame rates only, as I purchased the cam in the US. (Subsequently, Sony released this upgrade to make the NX5U have the option to switch to PAL Frae rates) whcih I will be doing...
Do you mean that this camera is natively switchable between PAL and NTSC - how so?

  • Do I need to register for a GST number when I haven't sold over $30,000 worth of e-books?

    Hello,
I do not understand the Canadian Tax Form GST506E (03)
Do we register for a GST/HST number and get a BIN from the goverment, then fill the form out?
Any help here would be appreciated!

Well, the deal is that I work for a State agency where I produce videos for public consumption via our YouTube channel as well as training DVDs and some other applications.  It took me about seven years to get any money to work with (used my own personal cameras until then), and even then was given only $3000 to buy a video camera, DSLR, lighting, and teleprompter.  After a three more years of whining, they've finally decided to "resource" our production effort.
I suspect I can wrangle about a $10,000 budget, but I'm hoping I might be able to get as much as $15-20,000.  This has to buy a camera, accessories, and anything else I may need for the foreseeable future.  Renting isn't really an option and whatever I get now is probably what I'll be working with for the next 6-10 years (if I don't get a better job or hang myself before then), so I want to invest in technologies or formats that have staying power.
That's why I'm asking whether I need faster machines to handle these pro and prosumer formats.  If I need to factor new workstations or other hardware into my calculations, I'll need to plan for that now.  From what I'm reading, it seems that it'll actually take less processing power to work with intraframe compression, but this may be offset by the much larger file sizes.
By the way, I really appreciate everyone's responses.  This community has unquestionably been my most reliable resource for over fifteen years now.

From the last 30 minutes I've spent surfing the interent about this subject I have learned that I need an AirPort Extreme Card.
Do I need the wifi antenna also? I think I read that without it the wifi is pretty weak but my router is just across the hall.
Also, let me know if there ANY other options to get wifi please!

You need an antenna for all G5 towers from 2003 to early 2005 models.
The T shaped antenna is easily found on the web.

    Hi
The Smart DST failure is in regards to the Hard drive or Memory Failure on your unit you will need to replace the part in order to get the unit back to working condition. As per your notes you need to check if that was Hard drive or Memory test which has failed.
Let us know how it goes!

    No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).

If your iCloud account uses your family's Apple ID, you will pay $20/year for all your family members. If your iCloud account uses a different Apple ID than your family's Apple ID, you will pay only for you

I moved from the UK to the US with my iMac. What do I need to buy for the UK iMac to work in the US? A power convertor? A plug convertor? or Both?  I had previously read that you only need a plug convertor (three prong to two prong).  But I'm terrified that my iMac will blow up if I only use a plug convertor and not some sort of voltage convertor (Transformer).

I'm not really hardware tech savy - is it easy to pop out the UK power cable and plug in the US power cable? Or do I need to get someone like an iMac support guy to do this? And because of the voltage difference, is there something built into the iMac that takes care of the voltage difference for me?  Thanks!!

What cable do I need for a full migration from a 2011 MacBook Pro to a new current one-wireless migration way too slow.?

All you need is an Ethernet cable.
Just plug it into both machines. Don't bother with a crossover cable, just a plain old Ethernet cable will do. The Ethernet ports on the Macs are smart and will adjust appropriately.
