If the display uses the Apple Display Connector (ADC)

you will need a DVI to ADC adapter.

All you need is an AC prong adapter and, if you can't find what you need on the web, you'll be able to find one in Russia for a small handful of rubles.

  • Translucent 23in cinema display's power button is blinking

Anyone know why? Only thing I could find was incorrect display setting but I have been running 1680x1050 since I bought the thing 3 yrs ago and have an ATI RADEON 9600 with 256mb of memory.
I should not be having this problem, correct?
    Ant help would be appreciated!
    Thanks and Happy 4th!

No, you should not be having this problem, in fact, neither should I.
It appears as though the cause is a malfunction in the displays *Backlight Inverter*. Also, (well in my situation anyway), I have noticed that the very bottom of the screen is slightly darker than the rest of the viewing area.
Short of returning the display to Apple (or an authorized Dealer etc) for repair (my warranty has expired a long while back), there is an alternative, especially for those living in the US.
If you take a look at http://www.lcdparts.net/DesktopInverter.aspx you will see the parts needed at the bottom of the page along with the price and respective model number. In my case this page http://www.lcdparts.net/DesktopInverterDetail.aspx?InverterOriginal=T65I014.00MS S sums up my problem precisely, when you read the Description under the graphic of the actual replacement part offered.
The price of $US129.99 seems OK, but with conversion rates/shipping etc, I think I will be better off getting a new screen, as finding this part in Australia is rather difficult, to say the least.
You should also be aware that this is just for the part and you are expected to be able to replace it yourself, or they will do it for a fee.
Go here http://rapidshare.com/files/127505987/A1038backlight_inverterinstallation.pdf for the pdf on how to do it yourself, or join the Members section of their site and get it from there. I hope this helps anyone else in the same situation...

  • Wire that goes from 90W Power Adapter a1097 to apple cinema hd display

We lost the wire that goes from the 90W Power Adapter a1097 to the Apple Cinema HD Display. Where could I purchase another one and what is the name of this wire?

The wire that comes from the power supply is tethered, meaning non-detachable, so I don't see how it can be lost. Or maybe I am misunderstanding. Is it the AC cord that is missing, e.g. the one that goes into the wall? That should be a normal IEC 320 C13, which is commonly available. You don't need the Apple one.

  • Mini DisplayPort adapter for 23" Apple HD Cinema Display?

    hello all,
I'm sure this has been asked and answered here, but I can't find it! (grrr...)
I've got an 23" Apple HD Cinema display and a new iMac. The iMac has a "mini DisplayPort". Now, the Cinema Display has a 3 x 10-pin (not 3 x 8) DVI connector. The WIKI thing about DVI calls it a "DVI M1-DA (Dual link + USB)".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalVisualInterface
For the life of me, I can't find an Apple (or other) adapter with the 10-pin connector to attach to the iMac?
    many thanks,
    b myers

If it's the old, plastic cased, 23" display, it may use ADC (Apple Display Connector).
    <http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/09/AppleDisplayConnector.jpg>
In that case, you will need a DVI to ADC adapter

  • Apple cinema display 23" power problem.

Hey everyone I have a apple 23" cinema display 2006 or 1007 I'm not sure, that doesn't want to power up.
Heres the deal.. Apple says that in order to use the 23" cinema display you have to have a 90W or 150W power brick, I have the 90W power brick. I plug in the all the wires (power, usb, DVI, firewire) and then the monitor blinks: short, long, short, which according to apple means that the display isn't getting enough power. I did confirm that the power brick works I tried it on my other 20" cinema display and it works prefect.
    Anyone know whats going on?
    Thanks!

  • How do I connect  Apple 20" Cinema Display to orignal MacBook Air which does not have a Fire-Wire port. Is this possible? Any advice would be appreciated. I have the Micro-DVI to DVI adapter. Norm

I Wish to connect my 6 year old Apple 20" Cinema Display to an orignal MacBook Air which does not have a Fire-Wire port. Is this possible? Any advice would be appreciated. I have the Micro-DVI to DVI adapter. Norm

The FireWire cable is just for the FireWire ports on the display.  The display will run without it.

  • HT2810 Apple HD Cinema Display will not come back on after brief power cut.

My Apple HD cinema display won't come back after a brief power cut.
There is the little white power light on the front which pulses on three times and then extinguishes, repeatedly.
The Mac itself seems to power up although it's hard to tell if it's bboting properly, as I cannot see anything on the screen.
There is power going to both units so I have no idea what is happening.

This sounds like a very common problem.  If the blinks are one short, one longer, one short..... long pause... repeat.... start searching this forum.   There are also Youtube videos on solving it.  If this is the problem, the solution is easy.  You block both center pins on the 10 pin power connector.   Its crazy but it works.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vodDfic8omA
I just used a very thin strip of paper folded in half and slipped into the display's connector so it covers ONLY the two center contacts, then slip it into the power module very carefully.  Make sure there is some slack in the paper as otherwise it will tear and the contact will still be made.  If it doesn't work at first, try again as the paper made have torn in process.   It would be better to use something stonger like a very thin strip of mylar.   Or you can do what the video shows, but I didn't try that exactly.

  • MBP with New Apple LED Cinema Display

Does anyone know whether it will be possible to use an early-2008 MacBook Pro with the new Apple LED Cinema Display? I know that the new display is made specifically for the latest MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air with the mini-display port, but I wondered whether there will be some type of adapter offered so that an older MacBook Pro may be used with the new display (or whether this is even possible).
    Any input is appreciated.

  • 8800 GT vs. new Apple LED Cinema Display (27" flat panel)

I would like to buy the new Apple LED Cinema Display (27" flat panel), however, have no idea if it is compatible with my Mac Pro. Bellows are the details of my desktop...
    Mac Pro (MacPro3.1) Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz * 2 (8 cores), with 12 GB DDRII 800 MHz.
Graphics cards for Mac Pro (Early 2008): NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (part number 630-9191 or 630-9897)
If it's not compatible, could someone let me know how to upgrade of what to make it work?
    Thanks!
    PJ

    Doesn't look hopeful.
    Apple LED Cinema Display 27"
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A
Obviously the ATI 5770, once it ships, will work.
Apple Display tech note only addresses ATI 5xxx and only 2009-2010 Mac Pro models.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4279
Cutting off anything two years old, is now 'legacy'? I don't think they hope to sell their 27" to older Macs or PCs.
    In the product Q&A:
*This looks great! Does this work with PCs?*
Yes, but you'll need an adapter with a mini-displayport like the top of the line Radeon 5970 (they all have one MDP), or one of the 5870s specifically designed for Eyefinity (multiple displays). Search Newegg under graphics cards (advanced) and filter only cards with mini displayport. No other PC cards on the market, including Nvidia seem to have mini-displayport. It's a good interface, but I fail to see why Apple decided to loose customers to support it exclusively.
+ADC is dead! long live proprietary technology!+

  • VMware Fusion and Apple LED Cinema Display

I have a 2008 MBP and a 27" Apple LED Cinema Display. My OS is 10.7.2.
I am running Windows 7 with the latest updates in VMWare Fusion 4.1.1. I have several issues.
    1) When I go to chose my monitor it say Apple LED Cinema Display but "Generic Non-PnP Monitor." I downloaded and installed the boot camp drivers as I understood those contained the drivers for the monitor, but that didn't seem to help. Do I need to have the Boot Camp drivers?
    2) When I try to access the Boot Camp Control panel in Windows 7 in Fusion I get "An error occured while tyring to access the startup disk settings. You may not have privileges to change the startup disk." My guess is this is because the Boot Camp drivers are only needed if you actualy run Boot Camp.
    3) In Windows I cannot choose the native resolution of the Apple display (2560 x 1440).
    4) The resolution ia 1277 x 1234. That is weird.
    5) If I minimze the Fusion window and then immediately open it, it looks fine. But if I wait for awhile and open it, the window will be black until I click inside of it.
Something is wrong, Any help in fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
    Bryan

you have to separate out what is Fusion and what is Windows native.
Even doing updates to Windows sometimes should not or cannot be done properly in VM.
And there is no way to change the default boot drive - a VM doesn't have access and that is the host OS's job, not the guest's.
Install the latest AMD driver for mobility - and dont' use the "auto detect" - that is not going to work on Apple hardware.
You dont' run Boot Camp. But the Apple drivers and serives needed for hardware support, yes, they aren't running or loaded.

  • Connecting 20' Cinema Display to POwer Mac G4

What adaptor do I need to connect an Apple 20' Cinema Display with a DVI connection to a G4 box with ADC and VGA connectors please?

    Hi-
    Is that digital or analog?
Seems 1440x900 may not be a supported resolution.
Here are some examples of the resolutions that the Geforce supports:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25232
    Is the Geforce fully updated?
    For OS 9:

SwitchResX may help with custom resolutions.
