Need applescript to apply album art to daily ripped mp3 streams

My favorite radio show broadcasts on the web and so I save the daily shows to MP3 for playing on my ipod at a more convenient time. I have automator actions that rename, add ID3 info, and add the files to itunes, but I'd like to add album art as well. All searches thus far (including Doug's Applescript Site) have been fruitless for me. What I need is a simple applescript that I can add to my automator action that adds a jpg image to the new mp3 file. I'm an applescript idiot and have not been able to hack a solution. Can anyone help?

The freeware application Clutter heavily relies on scripts.
The application can search for artwork and transfer it to the correct tracks in iTunes.
You can find the scripts inside the Resources folder in the Contents folder of the package.
Since it is an open source application, you can use the scripts (or parts of it) without restrictions (certainly for personal use), if I'm correct.
Hope this helps.

  • Need to sync JUST album art....Is that possible?

I loaded some of my music the other day manually like I always do because do otherwise my iPhone would fill out too quickly. So I have Manually manage music and videos on and sync music off under music.
But I didn't have some album art at the time and I finally added it, but now I want to add it to my iPhone, but syncing it doesn't work.
What can I do to sync just the album art

Have you read any of what I've included in my previous posts?
Obviously not - so read it.
You don't have to include your entire music library when syncing. Under the Sync Music selection, you can choose all music and playlists, or selected playlists. I choose selected playlists and have a single primary iTunes playlists that I use for my iPhone, along with a few other playlists.
When manually managing music, you must manually delete the songs from your iPhone - open your iPhone in the iTunes source list to reveal the categories within such as music. Select music to view the music that was manually transferred to your iPhone. Select the music that you want to delete and select the delete button. This is called manually managing music, so you must do all this manually, which isn't a good idea to use with the iPhone.
If you restore your iPhone with iTunes if needed or wanted when manually managing music, you must manually re-transfer all music to your iPhone having to remember which music you had manually transferred to your iPhone before restoring. When syncing, the selected playlists chosen are re-selected automatically, or you can select the playlist or playlists yourself followed by a sync. The identical music as before will be transferred to your iPhone without having to remember anything and without having to manually do anything except for selecting the Sync button.
Don't know why I'm wasting my time with someone who chooses not to read what was already provided and learn something.
Based on all of this, why are you manually managing music again?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    First, update iTunes...
    iTunes
Now, connect your iPod and go to edit-->preferences in iTunes. Hit the iPod tab. Make sure that show album art is checked. If it is, then uncheck it. Hit ok. Now go back and recheck the option. Click ok.
If it still won't work, then do what I said above again, except this time let the iPod update, eject, and then disconnect it from the computer after you uncheck the option. Then reconnect the iPod and enable the option.

  • Album art from iTunes library when streaming?

Currently I have an old mac mini on its last legs and want to replace it with an Apple TV.
One thing i hate about the mini is that when it streams from my main iTunes library on my remote iMac then the album art / movie covers dont display on my plasma tv...
Do album art and movie covers show up on the tv screen when streaming from a primary iTunes library (i.e. not on the ATV hard disc)?
Or do I need to have the content stored on the ATV's local disc for that?
NB I am about to buy and want to ensure I get the right size (40gb or 160gb) but I will only stream and not take the ATV on holiday...

yes they display fine for me, and i stream everything.

  • Downloaded album art not saved in mp3 file?

When I use iTunes to download missing album art, that art is not being saved in the MP3 file. I verified this behavior by checking that the file timestamp and size didn't change after the art was successfully downloaded and displayed within iTunes. As a second check, I also deleted the music from my library and re-added it, and the art work is missing again.
Only if I drag the jpg image to the blank artwork window does it seem to "stick".
    Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, if you download album art through iTunes and then later manually add art to the tag, the downloaded version is replaced. I think it still remains in the folder on your computer, but it does get replaced in the native song file. What I'll do is download the artwork from iTunes, then copy it and paste it directly into the tag for a permanent "attachment" to the song.

  • Need Applescript to apply stationery in mail.app

    Hi all,
I need help to make an applescript that will apply a selected stationery to a new message window that is already open in mail.app. Can anyone please assist? Thanks a ton!
Ultimately, I have a filemaker db that is going to have a button scripted to open a new message to a contact but I can't figure out how to then add the stationery to the message...

I know it sounds very similar, but if you want Gmail to function in Mail.app like it does in Gmail, where you archive most but not all of your mail, there are some unique settings.
    Gmail's recommended settings for Mail.app:
(note: for the rest of this message, if Gmail is a link, that's because I can't figure out how to not make hard-brackets not evoke some kind of special message board code.)
    Trash:
Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox > do NOT check
Store deleted messages on the server > do NOT check
    * Do NOT save deleted messages on the server. Messages that are deleted from an IMAP folder (except for those in [Gmail]/Spam or [Gmail]/Trash) only have that label removed and still exist in All Mail. Hence, your client doesn't need to store an extra copy of a deleted message.
    * Do NOT save deleted messages to your [Gmail]/Trash folder because this will delete a message in all folders.
    * Do NOT save deleted messages to your [Gmail]/All Mail folder as some clients will try to empty this folder and ultimately fail. This can lead to delayed mail access or excessive battery consumption on a mobile device.
I can't try your script just now (at work), but I will try it once I get home. It looks like it should work in the most basic scenario.
If I wanted to filter the messages to go into the account specific Trash mailbox, is that a trivial process? Could I:
    tell application "Mail"
    set theMessages to (get selection)
set theAccount to (get account of theMessages)
move theMessages to mailbox "Trash" of "[Gmail]" of account "theAccount"
    end tell
That's just my guess at what the Applescript might look like.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • How do I extract album art from an existing MP3 file?

I have a folder of MP3s that all came from a rare out-of-print album. The album is so rare, I can't find an image of it anywhere on Google in any countries. I lost the cover artwork for the album, but it's embedded in the MP3 file because it pops up when I play the song or in the preview window. Fine good-resolution picture, too.
How do I extract the image so I have a separate image file again?
...hopefully without buying new software to do it?
    I've got iTunes v.10

You might want to update your information since 10.4 can't run iTunes 10.

  • Serious Album Art Question!

    here is the situation,
for the songs i have purchased it works perfectly,
however, for other songs that i have that i have applied album art too, even though when i select it in the iTunes the album art is the same for the whole album, for other albums it seems to pick other random album art for about 75% of the songs, this happened twice overall,
in that i have deleted all the songs and reloaded them twice so far and it still doesn't work
please help, feel free to ask any specific questions

So the wrong album art is showing up for some songs on your iPod?
    Try this...
Connect the iPod to the computer. Go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab. Make sure "Show artwork on iPod" is checked. If it is, uncheck it. Click ok. Now go back and recheck the option. Click ok. Wait for the iPod to update. Is the artwork now there and displaying correctly?
If not, then do the same steps again. However, this time, let the iPod update and then eject it once you uncheck the option. Then disconnect it from the computer. Now reconnect it and enable the option. iTunes should say "optimizng artwork for iPod"
If that doesn't work, you may need to restore...
    Restore the iPod

  • Zen MX Album Art

    Hi
My wife has just bought a 6Gb Zen MX, I've had a standard 8Gb Zen for over a year and haven't had any problems. To put some music on the MX we copied my music library onto her pc, got Windows Media Player to recognise the directories and then synched with the MX.
The music has loaded fine, but virtually all of the albums are missing the album art. The only ones that have album art are those that I've manually updated in media player because the image that it found automatically was wrong.
I've upgraded the MX to the latest firmware and re-synched - no difference.
It's also refusing to synch the playlists from WMP, it says that they've synched but there're not visible on the MX.
    Any ideas?

? An update on the album art....
There are definitely some differences between the Zen and the Zen MX....
Windows media player as standard stores the album art on the folder (directory) that contains the album tracks. The old Zen was quite happy with this arrangement.
If in media player, you update the album art by copying and pasting an image (say from a well known on-line retailer of music etc) it not only updates the image on the folder but it also adds the image to each track within the folder as MP3 tag info. The Zen MX needs this to display album art.
I spent a fun evening deleting all the albums from the Zen MX (can't find a way to get it to format). Updating every album in the music library with new album art and then re-synching. I think there are 4 albums out of about 50 that it's not displaying album art for which is close enough for me....
Playlists next - might just give up and do them manually on the [email protected]

  • Ok, like how do I make album art show up on my Nano ??

Like, I don't see the albums showing up when I play my music, Can you tell me steps in order to display album art ? thanx all !

Firstly you need to put the album art in the id3 tag of the song.
Right click a song. choose "get info". Go to the album art section and add your album art. You can add the same album for multiple songs, just sellect more than one song. (ctrl+click or shift+click)

  • My ipod shuffle control works better with album art installed

For years I've been somewhat laxed about installing any form of album artwork when it was not readily available. I recently installed some sort of artwork for every album, playlist or song on my iPod. If I could not find the album, I just pasted an acceptable image. I noticed an unbelievable difference in the shuffle song selections immediatly. There are songs and even one of my bird call sound clips that are included in the shuffle selections that would never play in years past. The results were the same on both of our 80g and160g iPods. Use to be I'd get a little frustrated at some of the songs thinking that I'd heard that song sequence somewhere in the past. Each IPod holds over 8000 songs so it was hard to really tell. Now, the shuffle selections are the way I'd always wanted but could never seem to achieve. I never considered linking the artwork with the shuffle song selection capabilities but it made a huge difference. Both my wife and I noticed it immediately. Not sure if anyone has had a similar experience?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You don't need to put the album art under Photos on the iPod. They just need to be in iTunes with the correct song.
Do the song files have artwork in iTunes?

  • How to import incl. album art

    Hi,
Just upgraded to leopard. All my music is now on a firewire HD with a clone of the original HD.
How do I import the music on the new HD without loosing album art? (I tried to copy it from the music folder, but no album art was showing)

An issue I found with adding album art is that it depends what program you used to get your music.
E.g. if you created mp3/aac track using iTunes then you can not put the album art on without lots of stuffing around as the id tags iTunes uses are not compatible with Nokia phones.
    My solution was as follows:
Imported all my tracks from CD's using the Nokia Music Manager (v2.0). This added all the tracks to "my collection" in the manager.
You then need to get the album art from somewhere, generally I use iTunes but there are sites (www.cdcovers.cc) is good.
All you need to do is hightlight the tracks of the album in "my collection" of the music manager and drag (or copy and paste) the artwork into the little white square in the bottom middle of the music manager.
You should then see the artwork appear in the square and all the tracks update one at a time.
This actually embeds the artwork in the track (does not increase the size significantly).
I then sent the track to my phone using the music manager (I don't convert to mobile optimised format as this does effect sound quality).
This is by far not an ideal solution as it means re-importing all my tracks but as I used iTunes originally the tracks could not be updated. Interestingly if you already have the artwork in the iTunes file it does not appear on the phone.

  • 5800 xpressmusic album art issue

got this phone yesterday and i have since transferred a bunch of music from my PC to my phone. however, only about 10% of all albums were able to automatically include the album art. alternatively, i had to manually add the album art for each album - provided if the album art could be found in the gallery. what's curious is that, when connected by usb to my PC, and because adobe photo starter pops up by default for any connected media device of mine, i could see that the album art images, which could not be found in the gallery (and hence unable to be manually added), were very well present somewhere in my phone. clearly, i have trouble locating them. furthermore, whenever i delete an album art image from my gallery, i can kiss the said album art goodbye from the album/music app too.
    my questions are:
    1) where are the album art images which are floating somewhere in my phone/memory card ie. how can i locate them?
    2) is there a way whereby i can ensure that the album art covers would be automatically secured along the music i transfer, so i would not have to manually add album art covers to each and every album?
    3) why does the fate of album art covers being automatically attached to the albums seem so random?
    4) is there any one way to fix these issues?
for info's sake and if relevant, i use mass storage mode via usb.
all help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance!

    1. Its embedded within the mp3 file.
    2. By embedding them into the file
    3. When you use iTunes (if you did not customize some settings) or the built in music browser, these mp3 files are simply linked to their corresponding album art. Once the mp3 or the album art's location is changed, the link is broken. However for embedded files, they are "inside" the mp3 file, like the tags we put for album and artist, etc, so they are taken with them.
    4. I use TagTuner to embed my mp3's with album art.
