Need Big Help on my HP Laserjet P1005 via airport express

I've been using my HP Laserjet P1005 via airport express for about 3 months.
However, this printer won't act wirelessly anymore.
It does work fine with USB connected.
I tried to reset everything, and it's still not working.
I've read some posts on this forum and installed those three packages, but it seems not works for me.
By the way, the P1005 driver version is 1.0.6.
I really hope someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance.

Yes. I have install the lastest version of HP driver 1.0.6, with Mac OS 10.5.

But if you update to Show Leopard 10.6, You should use a prior driver HP 1.0.4, if not, the printer would not work. Here:

You can configure the AirPort Expess to "Join a wireless network" and enable the Ethernet port so that Ethernet devices will be able to connect.
In order to print from the iOS devices, you will need to have an application like Printopia installed on your Mac. The Mac must be active when you want to print.
More details here: Printopia - AirPrint to Any Printer - Print from iPad - Print from iPhone ...
There is a free trial available for Printopia, so make sure that it will work before you buy the AirPort Express.

The AirPort Express requires a modem with an Internet connection if you want it to be able to access the Internet.
So, if Optimum is providing Internet service, but you do not have a modem.....you will need to ask Optimum to provide you with one.

  • Need big help creating PDF/X-1a compliant document.

    Hi all,
I have tried this on my own but cannot make it work as I am not so computer savy. I have created all the files to specifications as best I can but when I try and use the preset PDF/X-1a it says violation both artbox and trimbox for every page. Ive tried fixing this manually and by using Preflight but it doesnt work for me. Can someone please help me create a PDF/X-1a complient document? I am desperate as I am trying to do this for a friend who needs my help. Looking for a good savior/Samaratin for help. My email is [email removed by host] Any help at all would be greatly appreciated either in an answer here or an email.
    Thank you in advance

I create the files in photoshop and saved as PDF with the preset PDF/X-1a_2001 but I cant or at least I dont know how to define the bounding boxes like Trim Box and etc. in photoshop. The problem I am facing is that the pages are supposed to be set as 11.5 x8.75 for printing at 11.0 and 8.5. So I made my files the 11.5 x 8.75 size but now I cant set them to be printed at the right size(if that makes any sense-sorry I am a noob). So I am not sure what to do. I thought saving it as a PDF in photoshop and then fixing it in Acrobat was what I was supposed to do? I tried manually to set the artbox to 0 and set the trimbox to where it needed to be 11.0x8.5 with different parts cut off for the odds and even pages. But still when I try to save as PDF/X-1a it gives me error messages. I have searched the web but cant figure it out. It seems so easy for people to do it but I cant figure it out and I am panicking and need help. Can anyone help me?

  • I need your help regarding Macbook Pro with FCS3 via USB

Sorry for the double posting, I need your help...
I am producing an independent TV movie. We are shooting in HDV with a Sony Z5.
Currently I am using a 2007 iMac (1gb) for the FCS3. I am considering buying a Macbook Pro 15' i7, because I need the portability as well as a WD 1TB portable external drive.
Just when I am about to buy the machine I started to read all about the USB vs. the Firewire. What should I do? The MBP only have one firewire port...if I use an USB portable external drive means that I won't be able to use FCS3 properly and that buying a MBP will mean spending money in something that I won't be able to make it work properly??
    Thanks for your help!!!!

    Hi there,
As Patrick said its Firewire hubs you should avoid along with directly connecting your media drive via USB. USB hubs are fine for connecting peripherals (keyboards, tablets, mice etc). directly connecting USB media drives is not for streaming video due to their method of sending data in packets rather than as the continuous stream that firewire provides. Firewire hubs just seem to cause all sorts of headaches to those that have used them, I cant give you a specific reason other than splitting the available FW bandwidth (someone with more knowledge on this will have to chime in), its more just inherited practice.

  • Need help getting LG TV wifi connection with Airport Express?

I can successfully hook the tv up to the network using the dongle PIN method on the Airport Express. It works fine until I turn the tv off. Then I have to go through the whole setup procedure again. Very frustrating. How can I get the Airport to allow the tv access when I turn the tv back on without having to do the setup again? I did not limit access to 24 hours. Not sure what I am missing. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

The dongle is the little usb device that makes the tv wifi capable, it is assigned a unique PIN that I input into the airport express utility so my wireless network will allow it access. All that works fine, but I have to redo the whole setup everytime I turn the tv off. Have you any experience with this and can offer a hint on how to allow the tv access each time I turn it on?

  • Help needed with router setup. Bigpond wireless gateway and Airport Express

Now I know this is probably more a router question but it is to help my iPad wifi so heres what I have.
    ADSL2+ line in
    Bigponds Thomson TG782T Modem/router which is /b/g
    Airport Express /b/g/n
I am trying to set it up for maximum speed so basically I am trying to take advantage of the AE's /n.
I was hoping to use the Thomson as just a modem and use the AE as the router. Please correct me if this isnt the 'best way of doing it'. Can someone savvy give me a few pointers, would be greatly appreciated. cheers

    Uncheck *Interface Enabled* at top.
@Chris........ Thanks for that..... yes I disable it. So much for Bigpond telling me it couldnt be turned off. I have the system up and running /n 5ghz multicast 5.5. iPad not fluctuating signal strength as much and loading a bit quicker. I think turning off the 2.4 running on the Thomson made a difference when running from the AES at 2.4 but much better with Thomson off and AES on 5ghz. So all up I am doing better thank you.

  • Help required please! Netgear router to Airport Express to stream iTunes

I have recently purchased an Airport Express and I have an iTunes account.
I wish to stream music from a computer in one room to a Sony Hi fi in another room (not very far apart). I am having great difficulty in setting this up with instructions in the box.
I have a NETGEAR wireless router provided free by Virgin when they put my broadband cable in. So I need simple step by step instructions on how to link the Netgear router on my computer with the Airport down on my hi-fi. I have the cable to the hi-fi plugged into the Airport and the router is working okay.
I have spent hours on this and have also had a computer expert try to help me but he has drawn a blank. When I click on Airport Utilities the message comes up saying that it has not detected a wireless device. Scan Again! Can anybody help?

initiate the set up using ethernet then configure the Express wireless setting. Y=As the second router you may need to put it in bridge mode. Use Airport Utility to do that.

  • Please help, 2 days trying to set up Airport express

    Hi all
    I hope someone can help.
Bought an Apple Airport Express mainly because I want to stream my iTunes music from my laptop to my amp & stereo system which is situated in same room as PC but too far away for wires etc.
I DO NOT need to have wifi internet thru my Express just music.
    Laptop: Compaq Presario CQ70
    OS: Windows Vista
    Location: Greece
When I "simply plug in the express (as per Apple's instructions) I just cant get it to do anything, I cant find it on my wireless connections on PC, it doesnt reboot.
Sometimes it can be found on a scan, but mostly not, I have tried to set it up with the software & with an ethernet lead connected, this seems to work but then it kills my wireless internet connection??????????? Does anyone know why it does this. Then when I try to reconnect to that wireless connection with my PC it tells me that the settings are incorrect & do not match those of my PC & I have to delete that connection & make a new one & then I get my wireless internet back.
I have tried resetting the Express with a paper clip & still not successful.
I have seen some pictures on the net with a "extreme Base station" too do I need one of these too just to stream music??
I do hope someone can help as I have bought & installed a great new speaker set up on top of this room & so desperately want to try out my iTunes music on them.

Hi Lexvo. Thanx for getting back to me. Have answered your questions in red (hope it posts in red) & italic
If I understand it right, you already have a wireless network set up and now you want to add the Airport Extreme. I have a normal wireless router (Conn-x Thomson) & I want to add the Airport Express to stream music (NB I dont have an Extreme base station; refer to my initial post r.e do I also need an extreme or am I just ok with the Express, I ONLY WANT TO STREAM MUSIC)
    In a nutshell:
With the Airport Configuration utility, you should be able to find the Express. The airport config utility only shows me a "rescan" button, all other dropdowns are pale grey & not selectable, I guess this happens until you "find" the base station. Then you can configure your Express by letting it join the existing network. I can only do this is if I hook up my PC - Express by ethernet & then do manual set up, but I did select "join an existing network" & it still cuts out my wireless internet. The Express is plugged in my wall & still flashing Amber even after 3hrs
    What I think is happening:
I think what you are doing is kind of creating a separate wireless network. If you do so, you constantly have to switch between two networks. That's why your wireless internet connection looks to be disappeared. See above paragraph I dont think I am.
I assume you have a wireless router? (or modem/router?) Yes as above
Have a look at below taken from Apple Support & I have put what happens in red
    Using AirPort Setup Assistant
Plug AirPort Express into a power outlet. I do this & it just sits there & flashes, I cannot find it anywhere on my PC. Apple gives the impression that this is just plug & play, but I am not getting that.
On your computer, join the wireless network created by AirPort Express. Cant be seen anywhere
Open AirPort Setup Assistant. Mac users: Find it in /Applications/Utilities/. Windows users: On the Start menu, point to All Programs and click AirPort. Yes but, the airport config utility only shows me a "rescan" button, all other dropdowns are pale grey & not selectable, I guess this happens until you "find" the base station.
When you see the Introduction screen, click Continue.
Select "Set up a new AirPort Base Station" and click Next.
When the AirPort Setup Assistant confirms that it has found your AirPort Express, click Continue. (If your AirPort Express wasn't found, click Try Again.)
Select "Connect to my current wireless network."

  • Do i need an extreme base station if i have an airport express?

I just got an Apple ibook G4 laptop through a program at my school which is Airport ready. I'm not really that computer smart. At home we have 1 ethernet cord attached to a different computer but I want to set up a wireless connection in my room just for my laptop. Can I do that with just an airport express base station, or do I have to have a stationary one first? Would it be easier just to buy the extreme base station even though it costs more? Also, how does the express work? Do you just plug it into the wall, or does it have to be connected to some sort of phone jack, or what? Again, not computer smart at all. HELP!!!

bcbandtiger, Welcome to the discussion area!
Since an AirPort Express (AX) won't support a wired (Ethernet connected) computer, you can't solve your problem that way.
If your only goal is to create a wireless network for the laptop, you need either the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) or any other inexpensive 802.11b/g compliant wireless router. These will provide an Ethernet port for you wired computer and create the wireless network for your laptop.
Do you just plug it into the wall, or does it have to be connected to some sort of phone jack, or what?
It would plug into your home Ethernet connection.

  • HELP:  Keep losing connection to router, bought airport express can't work

My macbook Pro keeps losing it's connection to my router in the room in my office at home. My boyfriend's £300 laptop though has no trouble, and has never been disconnected, no matter where in the house he's used it.
The router we use is an old Belkin router which also is a modem. I went to PC World told them the problema nd asked if buying an actual Apple router would be more compatible with my mac. So I bought the airport express but as I see it, that seems to just be a router, I also need a modem to actually connect to the internet...so I am confused really. I thought if I bought the airport I wouln't need the belkin router any more but it seems I do.
At the moment, I connected the airport to the router via ethernet and I think it is extending the network or something. I don't think that's right though, and I wonder if someone could talk me through the right steps to get my macbook continously connected to either the router with the airport or the airport, or whatever else, I am mystified by everythning and don't know what to do

    Hi Nicola,
You don't need the Airport Express and Macs can connect to Belkins just fine - I've had several myself. It might be that the Belkin is so old that it is using an ancient form of wireless encryption or having problems with IPv6, we'll look at that. But first, take the Airport Express back to PC World as it not really helpful here.
If it is an old Belkin, it might be having problems with something called IP v6.
From the Apple Menu, Choose System Preferences then Network
Make sure Airport is selected then choose Advanced
Click TCP/IP at the top and under Configure IPv6 choose Off
Configure IPv4 should be set to Using DHCP
    Click OK then Apply
It is possible that the Belkin is having problems talking to your Mac because of the wireless encryption mode, but try that first.

  • HP Laserjet 1160 over Airport Express

I recently got an HP LaserJet 1160le and wanted to hook it up to my network using an Airport Express. I have used other printers with the airport express in its current config with no problems, but now I have an issue.
If i plug the printer directly into my powerbook via USB, the driver is automatically detected and everything is spiffy. When I add the printer through Bonjour, it doesn't detect the driver. The 1160 and 1320 are nearly identical and the drivers are almost the same, so I choose the 1320 driver.
When I print i get a single page with a few lines that state:
    %!PS-Adobe-3.0 %RBINumCopies: 1
There are a few more lines but nothing that really seems to point to the problem. When I try and add the same printer to an XP Pro machine the 1320 drivers don't work, but the 1100 drivers work which would be a better match to begin with. The 1100 drivers and the HP Laserjet 1.3 driver are not available as a choice when setting up on the Mac. Anyone have any ideas or solutions?

It may work with a third-party driver such as the HPIJS drivers or the Gimp-Print drivers, but this is not the case with all printers.
    HPIJS

  • HP laserjet P2035 on airport express not playing nice with Windows

I recently bought a new HP laserjet P2035 and hooked it up to my network via the usb connector on an airport express 802.11n. The Airport Express extends my network created on an Airport extreme 802.11n dualband.
I have a MBP 13 and it prints fine. The problem I have is with two PC's. I installed Bonjour on both of them (one on Vista and another one on XP) and they started to print fine. The next day, only my Mac was able to print. Nothing changed whatsoever. Only that I turned off the printer for the night.
I checked and both Windows machines and the printers appear just like they did the day before.
    Any ideas?

Just as a quick sidenote, I failed to mention that I was able to get it to work on my XP Pro machine selecting 1100 series as my driver. It seems this is only related to my two macs.

  • Help!! can't get my airport express to connect to my network

I have set up my airport express to connect to my network so I can play itunes with it but it says that the Airport has been set up but cannot connect To my network. I've tried it on both my computer and my wife's computer and we have the same problem. I have been able to connect in the past with my Airport express that I had for this one but for some reason I can't seem to connect it using this airport express. Any help would be much appreciated.

When joining a non-Apple WEP encrypted wireless network with an AirPort, you must use one of two different styles for password entry depending on whether the network is protected with an ASCII or HEX key.
    ASCII password
If using a password that is plain ASCII text, use the double quotation mark (") before and after the password. These are case-sensitive, and they are at least five characters long for 40-bit encrypted networks or at least 13 characters long for 128-bit encrypted networks.
    Hexadecimal password
If using a password that uses only the hexadecimal range of characters, add a dollar sign ($) before the password. These passwords are at least 10 characters long for 40-bit encrypted networks or at least 26 characters long for 128-bit encrypted networks.
