Need big time help

I am leaving pc and getting imac 20" with windows. How do I install software that works with pc and is it easy to access and use? Will my existing printer work with this setup? Just give me an overview how this works. I really need help in layman's terms. Thanks

Macs don't come with Windows. You can install it separately using Apple's Boot Camp software. Is this your intention? Please clarify.

  • Thanks everybody (Need big time help !!!)

    Hi there.
    First of all.
    Thank you for all your help about my OC situation
    Really glad this place excisted and all of you guys where friendly and so helpful.
    Today i got my 8800GTS + Cellshock ram back from RMA
    Fixed everything and fired the thing up.
    Now i'm back in buisness again accept for my MSI P965 Platinum MOBO still in RMA.
    Lets see what they say ? I got a email today where they was telling me that 2 pins
    on the LGA775 slot was bended. Huh? Weird
    I never touch those pins and i'm always very carefully about hardware.   lol  (Accept when OC)
    But ok. We will see what they say in the end.
    Again everybody. Big thx from MuggeGHQ

    Hehe. no. Will try to keep my fingers away from the lovely bios.
    Its hard not to. Ofcause you always want to see how high you can work you way op.
    Now i have locked my PCIE (100Mhz) and my PCI (33,33Mhz) so they cant go any higher !
    Running a mild OC then. 320FSB 3.2ghz for now with my P5B, i want go any higher with this MOBO.
    DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 4:5 (800Mhz)
    Maybe when i get a P35 MOBO we can play again.
    Then i'll be back for help

  • Need big time help !!!! (THANKS)

    Just came home from work. Tryed a creazy OC like 360FSB but the computer woulden boot.
    After that nothing happen. So i closed the comp down tought out the PSU and pressed the on botton to clear the last power in it.
    Then i first cleared cmos (BIOS) but it still woulden boot. Then i tough out the battery and waited 1 min. now when i try
    to turn it on. It just click with a short light.
    Nothing happen. It just turns on for very very short time and then down again. Keeps doing that all the time.  :( up/down up/down
    What to do.
    E6700 P965 Platinum with bios 1.51b

    This is creazy stuff.
    Went out and bought a fairly cheap Asus P5B MOBO and a new E6600 CPU because one of my friends should have this anyway.
    So i bought it for him so i could try use it.
    The new issue.
    After all the stuff with my P965 Platinum and all.
    I first tryed the MOBO with my old E6700 CPU. 1 long beep 3 short beep.
    Ok. new E6600 CPU on P5B MOBO. Same thing.
    Alright. no more  here. Tryed both the new MOBO and the new E6600 together with all my other hardware.
    Same thing. 1 long beep 3 short ones   :(
    In the Asus manual it says. 1 long beep with 3 short one is (VGA not detected)  JESUS
    Now this is not fun anymore. How can it be the 8800 ?????????
    One thing there crossed my mind was. Maybe it is my RAM that got after my big OC.
    Since non of the new hardware (MOBO & CPU) works with my old hardware, there is only ram, gpu and psu left.
    Its not the psu i'm sure. The computer starts and all fan is running included the GPU fan.
    Last thing i cant see or control is the RAM.
    Could that really be the problem ONLY. That only my ram was smoked in the OC.
    So both my E6700 and MSI Platinum MOBO is maybe working alright, but the ram died. Could it really ?

  • Help needed big time

    can some 1 pls help i have just got a Apple I Mac Power PC G3 Processor Speed: 333 MHz Memory (RAM): 160 MB i only wanted it for itunes but its come with no software at all and i have got a clue about apple macs what so ever is there anyway of buying the disks i would need to restore and could any 1 point me in the right way of a guide that can help me set this up it Includes OS 9.2 but i real dont no the first thing about them and very keen to learn more if any 1 could help pls thanks apple newbe

    If you want to use the iTunes store you will have to upgrade to at least OSX 10.2 (Jaguar), more probably (Panther), or possibly even Tiger (10.4). As I said before, you'll have to double check on the iTunes forum which version is required for the minimum version of iTunes you will need in order to get access to the store.
    Although you theoretically have the minimum RAM in order to run Panther, it helps to have at least double what you currently have. A 6 GB drive is also very small for running OSX because not only does the OS require a lot of space for permanent files it also make a lot of temporary files. You might be able to just run the OS but you wouldn't be able to fit any music on the drive!
    So right now I'd say you are looking at getting a bigger drive, more RAM, and buying an OS for this computer to do what you want to do. I haven't looked at the used prices for Jaguar or Panther but Tiger is currently going for around $70+ used.
    If you didn't want to use the iTunes store you could pretty much use the computer as it is right now (depending upon how much music you have). If you want to do a clean install of OS9 you will have to purchase (used) a retail version OS9 CD which is gold in color (not a gray one).
    P.S. It isn't the spelling, which is fine, it is the lack of punctuation that makes it very difficult to read and will discourage others from replying.

  • Big time help needed for party

    Hello all,
    I need help figuring out why my ATV is not displaying my iphotos at full screen on my panasonic 50 plasma..ANY help would be really appreciated...I have two nights until the party which will be a house full of geeks :))))))

    What do you mean by not at full screen.
    If it is that there are black areas each side of a portrait photo, this is to be expected. Zooming into such a picture to fill a widescreen format would likely cut off too much of a photo to be acceptable.

  • BIG HELP NEEDED BIG TIME!!!!!

    my iPod is not turning on for some reason!! No its no on hold, and yes I tried too reset it. Its just completley blacked out! I was sitting there listening to my music then I was going to charge it but, all of a sudden it went blank!
    can someone PLEASE help me please!!

    First, let's make sure you're resetting properly;
    Hold the MENU and SELECT (center) buttons until you see the Apple logo to reset. It may take several attempts and is best performed while connected to power. You may need to hold the two buttons for ten seconds or so before it actually resets.

  • PSE8 - In need of big time help

    I am very new at PSE8 and am trying to create my own holiday  cards. I would like to take the picture I have of my siblings and
    put a halo on each of us. I would laos like to remove a few of people out of the picture. I have tried and read and watched tutuorials and I am stumped. Can anyone help me by explaining the procedure in step by step dierections? Is there a good manual/website/tutorial for someone who has never used PSE8 before? Thanks

    Here are two quick ways to do a halo.
    Method 1
    1. Add new blank layer.
    2. Use the Elliptical Marquee to draw out an oval.
    3. Set the Foreground color to white, and Edit > Stroke. In this example I used a stroke width of 20, but it depends on your picture size.
    4. Apply a Gaussian Blur.
    Method 2
    Steps 1-3 same as above
    4. Apply a Outer Glow Layer Style. I used the Simple Style. Experiment with others.
    You might also try a combination of both Gaussian Blur and Outer Glow.
    Use the Move tool to reposition, resize, flatten, or widen the halo.
    With the Outer Glow you can also go into Style Settings and change the size of the glow.

  • IdL big time help needed

    I have a program and I would like 2 split it into a client-server system using IDL, I would appreciate any tips given (Im very new to IDL). At the moment it takes input from the user, in the form of a user name and password, and check against a database. I would like to have the input on the client and the check of the database on the server, with eather an accept or refuse message sent back to the user.
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class log
    public static void main(String[] args)
    //client
    String UserId;
    String Password;
    UserId = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Eneter your UserID"); // were the user eneters his User
    Password = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Eneter your Password");//were the user eneters his Password
    //server
    try {
         //have to be in a try catch block
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    //setting up the database
    String dataSourceName = "cw2";
    String dbURL = "jdbc:odbc:" + dataSourceName;
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection(dbURL, "","");
    //setting up the database
    Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
    String query = "SELECT Username , password FROM LOG"; // find the values and printen them out
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(query);
    String s, n;
    boolean flag = false;
    while(rs.next())
    s = rs.getString("UserName");
    n = rs.getString("password");
    if(s.equals(UserId) && n.equals(Password))
    flag = true;
    System.out.println( " access allowed " );
    //grant access
    break;
    } //if
    } //while
    if(flag == false)
    System.out.println( " access refused " );
    //deny access
    catch (Exception err) {
    System.out.println("ERROR: " + err);
    System.exit(0);

    You might want to take a look at the examples in
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/guide/idl/index.html
    and adapt one of the IDL interfaces to your needs.
    Something like
    module myapp
    interface validator
    boolean validate_user(in wstring username, in string password);
    Note that this won't have any security for your password on the wire.
    I just did a quick search to see if I could find a happy IDL tutorial, but I guess I usually use the main CORBA spec, actually.

  • Big Time Help Needed - reinstall

    as mentioned in another thread, my XP Pro stopped recognizing my USB (Apple) keyboard and mouse, even in Safe Mode. i decided to bite the bullet and reinstall. used bootcamp asst. to remove the windows partition and then create a new one. went ahead with the install.
    set up loads files then gets to the point where it says "setup is starting windows." and there it stalls. i left it like this for 15 minutes...twice.
    there is nothing in the windows partition.
    what is going on? besides nothing.
    Message was edited by: Forrest Jerome1

    i deviated not. how can one deviate? i used bootcamp asst. to create a partition and then start the installation. it did not get far enough for me to deviate. completely hands off.
    i finally capitulated and gave msft more $, bought windows 7 and that install has gone successfully.

  • Need flex time help, lots of songs, lots of BPM's multiple tempos

    Newbie here, trying to finally make the switch from Pro Tolls to Logic and flex time really sold me but I'm having some growing pains that I need to speed up for my current project.
    I have about 20 songs that I need to:
    first, find the bpm for each (quickly)
    second, be able to mark them in a way that the bpm for each song would change to match the tempo track (which will fluctuate through out the editing process)
    third, some how still have control of the anchor point in flex time which seems to get locked
    In the end I am trying to create a remix of multiple songs that start off with different bpm's and fluctuating tempo.
    I am able to do most of this but I think I am missing some steps, or perhaps the order of steps, that would make this process go much faster. I have worked other programs such as Ableton Live and elastic time in Pro Tools and at times it seems I can handle whole songs better in those programs than in Logic but I'm sure it more user error than the actual program.
    I welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks.

    Received this advice and responded on another forum but still need help.
    Thanks for the response!
    Had a few problems trying your suggestions.
    *"Finding BPM: select the audio region and choose from the local Arrange area menu: Audio > Detect Tempo."*
    Since it is a whole song and not just a part, such as drums, with well defined transients, it either can't detect the tempo or when it does it is wrong.
    *"Make it follow the tempo track: Use Flex Time (in the track parameters, choose a Flex mode). "*
    This would be fine if I didn't have to redefine all the transient markers as correct flex markers. Since Flex Time has problems defining the correct transient markers for complete songs it can be very time consuming.
    Maybe I'm still missing something?
    *"Third: what anchor? Do you mean the transient? Or the flex markers? You can move the transients in the Sample editor, and the Flex markers right on the track in Flex view (Click the Flex button in your toolbar)."*
    The audio region anchor in the sample edit window, the orange arrow. I think this is some how turned off after turning on flex time and I am unable to move it. I use this to line up the first beat if there is something before the music starts, such as someone speaking or a lead in with a different tempo than the song tempo, that I would still like to keep. That way I can move the region in the arrange window and it will line up according to the first beat and not the beginning of the region. Am I making any sense?

  • NEED HELP BIG TIME!

    I wrote a few days ago about this and was told that gathering
    information from a form using Post as the method and having the
    results emailed to someone wasn't a good idea and that it didn't
    work very well. People basically told me to investigate scripting
    or hiring someone, or use a pay service like MailChimp. None of
    these are options for me right now, I absolutely have to get this
    site done tonight and the person I'm doing it for will not pay for
    a service.
    The client wants to have a form on his site to collect email
    addresses so he can compile them into a mailing list to send out
    infrequent emails notifying people of upcoming events he's putting
    on. He's a local artist with a very modest following, nothing big
    time. I have no idea about databasing or MySql, and the person
    doesn't want to pay for a service, so basically I'm stuck doing it
    the "unreliable" way.
    Can someone walk me through how to do this in Dreamweaver? I
    assume I add a form field, and put a text field and submit button
    inside of it. Here's my questions, to get this to work and use the
    mailto: thing, what do I put for...
    Form Field: Name, Action, Method, Target, Enctype
    Text Field: Name
    Button: Type, Name, ID, Value
    Any help would be greatly appreciated by one stressed out,
    hack web designer, thanks!

    If this client doesn't want to pay for a service then tell
    him the best
    you can do is gather INDIVIDUAL emails from his site and have
    them
    emailed to their email address. Then it's up to them to mail
    out to
    their modest following INDIVIDUALLY.
    Basically you put a form on the site to collect the email
    address of the
    user. Like this:
    <form name="emailForm" method="post"
    action="formmail.php">
    <p><label for="email">Enter email
    address</label><br>
    <input type="text" id="email" name="email"> </p>
    <input type="submit" name="Submit" value="Submit">
    </form>
    You would then need to send the submitted form to a formmail
    script
    which will then send it on to the clients email address.
    A free script named Formmail does exist if you search for it
    in google
    under Free formmail script
    You would need to alter the script as per the instructions
    which should
    come with it and then upload it to your cgi-bin assuming you
    have one on
    your server.
    You then point the form at the script by filling in the
    action attribute
    like:
    <form name="emailForm" method="post"
    action="
    http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/formmail.cgi">
    I no longer use formmail because it can be a bit of an issue
    to set up
    for beginners.
    I now tend to use server side scripting like php to gather
    the
    information. IF you have php running on your server then
    NateMail is
    FREE and very very simple script to set up. It comes with
    clear pdf
    instructions that will do the job in about 10-15mins.

    I need advise and help with this problem .
    First , I have been with Mac for many years ( 14 to be exact ) I do have some knowledge and understanding of Apple product .
    At the present time I'm having lots of problems with the router so I was looking in to some info , and come across one web site regarding : port forwarding , IP addresses .
    In my frustration , amongst lots of open web pages tutorials and other useless information , I come across innocent looking link and software to installed called Genieo , which suppose to help with any router .
    Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
    trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
    Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
    ''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
    With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
    I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer
    Any help is welcome , English is my learned language , you may notice this , so I'm not that quick with the respond

    Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.
    To remove it, see:
    http://www.thesafemac.com/arg-genieo/
    Do not use the Genieo uninstaller!
