Need BIOS update?

I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio board. I recently purchased a USB capture device (Avermedia DVD EZMaker USB Gold) in order to input home video (VHS) files into the computer.
The Sound Blaster board seems to work fine, and I am satisfied with it. However, when inputting video/audio on the USB, depending on which capture software I use, sometimes the audio is non-existent or at an extremely low level.
I have read the Creative paper entitled ?Optimizing your system for better sound performance?, but I feel that it is beyond my capability to implement and I would have to hire someone to do it.
My video board (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700) contains TV, and this seems OK in most of the capture software, but this is not USB, and maybe there is a significant difference. I do not know how the USB sound is processed via the sound board.
In your opinion, do my audio capture symptoms seem to be those which relate to motherboard and bios adjustment, or would they relate more to the video board?

How about that the USB device makes ZERO use of the sound card, and uses whatever software and self-contained hardware it comes with. You want something to use the sound card, you need to connect it to the sound card.
As far as,
However, when inputting video/audio on the USB, depending on which capture software I use, sometimes the audio is non-existent or at an extremely low level.
Check the options in the program and if present, make sure that it is set to use the USB device. If the option isn't there then go into Windows audio options and set the USB device as the default audio device.

  • 3TB HDD installed in HP S5360f Need BIOS Update

The original drive crashed and I replaced it with a Toshiba 3TB HDD.  Now the system will boot up and run for a bit, but then freezes.  The OS and the system setup screens both only recognize the new 3TB drive as being 800GB.  Other support forums state that I need to update the BIOS, but I cant find it on the HP site.
What's the best way to proceed from here?

    DattGuy, welcome to the forum.
Here is a guide for running 3 TB hard drives with Win 7.  Also, here is a BIOS update for the computer.  It will not address the problem that you are experiencing, however.

My current BIOS version is 1.00. I need update for my BIOS because my pc is giving BSOD a lot. My Bios is very old it is of 2007 in think updating bios might help me. BSOD error is 0x101 (CLOCk_WATCHDOG_TIME something). It is caused by "ntkrnlpa.exe". So Help Please!!!!
The age of the BIOS is irrelevant. If the system worked fine previously, then it is not a BIOS issue, as it does not go bad or deteriorate over time.
From what I can gather from reading about the STOP 0x101 error, you most probably have a faulty CPU.

  • GT60 0NE-403US - crashing - do I need BIOS update?

Hey guys, I need some advice here. Any inputs are more than welcome!
    I got a GT60 0NE-403US laptop a few weeks ago. It originally has Win8 64bits, now Win7 Ultimate 64 bits.
    bios version E16F3IMS.5OU
build date and time 11/23/2013 15:22:49
    EC version 16F3EMS1 ver5.04
    EC build 09/24/2012
I experienced many crashes and sometimes BSODs when running all type of games (even old ones).
Reading some topics here and in other forums I decided to update the EC to the Win7 version provided on MSI website.
    16F3EMS1.413.zip
That stopped all BSODs and some of the crashing problems, but not 100%. Old games are good now, but for newest games (like Crysis 3 and Bioshock Infinite) I was still getting some crashing followed by message (most of times) "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered", and from what I read about it, it CAN be related to overheating. Using MSI Afterburner for monitoring, I noticed that most of times when it's about to crash, the temperatures are above 80C (always using the cooler boost function).
I did a simple test underclocking the core clock by 20 MHz and memory clock by 40 MHz, it became much cooler than before (about 75C-79C) and experienced no more crashing after almost 1 hour of playing.
I think I've tried all type of video configurations and I'm getting out of options. The only thing I can think is to update the BIOS for Win7, but according to MSI website "If the notebook you purchased has Win7 Bios installed, please DON'T attempt to update using Windows 8 bios (or vice versa). Failure to abide may result in bricking your system.".
So the question is: Do I need/Can I update my BIOS? If not, what are my other options to this annoying problem?
    Here are the specs:
    Model: MS-16F3
    Intel i7-3630QM - 2.4GHZ Turbo 3.4GHZ
    GTX680M - 4GB GDDR5
    3 X 4GB DDR3 - 1600MHZ
    750GB SATA HDD
    NVidia driver: 314.22 WHQL
Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver: 15.28.15.64.3062
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits - all updates applied
    Thanks in advance.

I don't agree with this. The people that were having problems had the GTX675M/GTX675MX cards. This would be the first person I've seen with a problem on a GTX680M. So, I don't really think this is 100% driver related.
I'm running 314.22 and haven't had a single crash, even with my GPU overclocked.
I had problems similar to this, when the GPU got above roughly 85C I would get driver crashes such as you suggest (NOT BSOD's...but you fixed that with a bios update).
Underclocking will help, although I'm quite surprised it seems to have helped as much as you show with such a small underclock.
Honestly, the first thing I would do is perhaps check to make sure all the heatsinks are not clogged with dust. It's very unlikely, but it could happen. Then, I would consider replacing the CPU/GPU thermal compound. This should hopefully help your temperatures a bit.
If you're uncertain of doing that, I would perhaps consider doing an RMA. It seems like you have some issues with the video card.
    Thx for the suggestion darkhawk.
Actually I didn't do anything with the BIOS, I've only updated the EC.
Is it safe to update my current BIOS E16F3IMS.5OU (from what I saw on MSI website, it's only for Win8) to 30S (for Win7, my current OS)? Also, do you think updating it could help?
    Thx.

  • Need BIOS update for Tecra A4-SP619

I have a Tecra A4-SP619 and i need a Bios Update. Where I find this?
    Thanks

    _One additional info:_
You should know that the BIOS update is always risky.
The wrong BIOS or wrong BIOS update procedure can damage the board or the ROM module.
Yes its true dude. The BIOS upgrade is not an easy thing like a graphic card driver update. BIOS update should be done as a last resort.
and please read more info before you will continue the BIOS update.

  • Satellite A200-23U - Need Bios update for XP

    Hi!
Where I can find BIOS update for this notebook for Windows XP?
    Thanks.

    > Is it possible install other similar BIOS for XP from the Toshiba American driver page? Are there some forecasts for appearance of BIOS XP update on the Toshiba European driver page?
I would not recommend installing different BIOS updates from different notebook series on the Satellite A200-23U.
The point is that a wrong BIOS or not compatible BIOS can damage the ROM module or the motherboard!!!
    I would not risk this!!!
Fact is that you should update the BIOS only with the version which was designed and published especially for your notebook model.

  • Crashing Techra TE2000 Needs Bios Update, Using Windows XP. Any Advice?

I have an older Toshiba TE2000 that has been crashing lately due to an insufficient BIOS update. It also states there is a problem with the RAM. Each time the computer crashes and reboots, it sends me to a Windows supports site that has diagnosed the problem, referring me to a BIOS update.
I have been doing my homework and know that a BIOS update is very tricky and can lead to permanent damage. It may be necessary.. however I don't want to have to buy a new laptop.
Can anyone offer any advice or support?
It started crashing a few weeks ago, and crashed three times the other day. Are the crashes affecting my computer and what will happen if I don't update soon?
    Thanks for all your help

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Go to the Product Support Link at the top of this page, enter in your model, then clik on the Download Tab to find the available bios files for that model.  DO NOT update the bios from within Windows.  Don't do it, don't even think about doing it if you want to use your computer again.  When you double click on the download you will be presented with the choice of creating a CD to flash the bios from.  USE THIS METHOD.  You can use a CD-RW so you don't waste a blank, but even the cost of a regular blank CD is cheap compared to the $100 that most places will charge you to fix a botched bios flash.  Be sure to burn the CD at the slowest possible speed to ensure the best possible quality.  Make sure that your battery is fully charged, installed, and the AC Adapter is plugged in just in case.
And don't forget to go into the bios and hit the F9 key to load Bios/Setup Defaults then F10 to exit and save just prior to and immediately after updating the bios.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Does PNY GTX 750ti on HP p7-1227c need BIOS update?Chris

I have an HP p7-1227c  BIOS 7.04 and a PNY GeForce GTX 750ti OC 2048MB video card
This is Not the MSI card with the legacy BIOD downgrade switch.
Apparently a version 8 BIOS will enable UEFI which is needed.  Is there a way to do this without having to update to Windows 8?
    Chris

    Chris, welcome to the forum.
I believe that the card requires UEFI in the motherboard.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  I suggest contacting PNY's Tech Support to see if they have a VBIOS update that will allow the card to work with your BIOS.  There may even be a work-around for the problem, but they would be the ones to know.  I don't believe that Win 8 would help with the problem.

  • Satellite A200-10W - Need BIOS update

I've got A200-10W for a few years and a year and a half ago I decided to switch form Vista 64bit do Windows 7 64bit, I installed it, everything was working fine till a month ago problems started to occur.
When BIOS screen shows it sometimes freezes and sometimes takes a minute to switch to Windows 7 loading screen, I've checked the BIOS version and it's 1.40 (yeah I'm an idiot for not updating sooner), so I've decided to update BIOS but I can't find any update except 1.80 for Vista 32bit, so can anyone please help with this? =(
    Sry for bar grammar

    Hey,
I agree with Akuma. You can still try the Vista 32bit version, its has nothing to do with your 64bit system. If its not compatible you get an error message.
But unfortunately I doubt BIOS will help you. If the computer freezes at BIOS screen it could be related to the hardware. Maybe the computer cant recognize a certain hardware part correctly like RAM, HDD or something else.
Before you try updating the BIOS load the default settings (F9 key). Save & exit new settings and test it again if the error occurs or not.

I have 800w PSU, and the system was totally stable until adding this card. Latest ATI drivers 14.9 Win 7 64bit.

I have saved the GPU BIOS as a file "Hawaii.rom" using GPU-Z and I have my S/N for the card.. what do I do next?

  • Searching for BIOS Update (UEFI) for HP 650 - need the right Version

    Hey there,
my Bios is broken and for recovering I need:
BIOS Update Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI)
    for HP 650
    Can someone help me?

Thanks for the information. It does help.
If you removed the original partitions then you are correct, UEFI is no more. That is why the Startup menu does not appear.
You will need to use the recovery disk set or USB thumbdrive media that you created and put aside. That was your plan "b". Booting into Recovery Manager and performing a factory image recovery will restore the original partitioning scheme and the UEFI environment.
There does exist a possibility of recovering a BIOS.
Put a BIOS ROM file on the root of a USB thumbdrive formatted in FA32.
Plug it into a USB port.
Plug in the power adapter and verify that the power led is lit.
Press the Power button and hold the Windows key and tap the "B" key
Your notebook may recover the BIOS at that point.
There is no guarantee that this will work. You may end up having  to send it in to HP to recover the BIOS and operating system.
I will edit this and supply a link to a BIOS right here.  Use the F.12 version on this page. You will need Winrar or winzip or 7zip to extract it from the softpaq and copy to the thumbdrive.
    Best regards,
    erico

However if you need BIOS update prior to have some RAM or GPU working fine (or other stuff), then maybe consider updating to 1.6 and then to 1.9 and finally to 1.B (1.11). I suggest using MFlash (files can be downloaded on MSI's product site, instructions should be included). For Forum Flash tool you need proper files provided (usually) by Svet or Flobelix.
Before attempting to flash, make sure your system is stable!
I downloaded BIOS 1,5 and 1,6 and in both cases i have same issue it stucks on 100% on M-Flash, after this I can normaly shut down pc and it work but witch 1.4 BIOS. I just want know whyi can;t

-100, -200, -300? We've narrowed it down a bit. I would not be so picky if we were not talking about BIOS. Has to be 100% right or it can brick the system.  The model number is on a sticker on the bottom or check this: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
