Need Bootable XP Image/Disk from my z61m

I did not receive Win XP installation disks with my z61m. Now I need either the bootable XP system or the XP image to use in a vitual machine partition on a mac computer to run my Window apps...The app is asking for the XP installation disk, so I am  out of luck for now...Any process I can do to retrieve these file..I know the files are in I386 folder but these do not execute as a bootable disk for XP...If I can not create this from my hard drive, is there a way to purchase such a disk? Thanks

Hi,
You can call the Lenovo helpcenter and request a recovery set of disks,  but the set will not be a bootable XP image or disk, as what you looking for.  The boot disk is Rescue and Recovery boot disk and the rest of the media is winxp source code, and drivers which are packaged for use with rescue and recovery.  If you make or have made the product recovery media, this is the same thing.
What you want is a retail XP disk, which is bootable.  Lenovo doesn't provide that.

Is this the senario that you are talking about?

  • Problems with image disk from Idvd

    Hi everyone, I've burned some Idvd projects, and before throwing those projects to the trash, i've saved them as an image disk.
    Today, when I burn image disk, it burns, but when I play it on a dvd deck the movie doesn't exist.
    When I check on my Imac, it shows me the dvd with a file burned on it, but doesn't play like a dvd.
    What's going on ?
    Thanx for answering
    Steve

    OK OK I've forgotten to use the "search" option.
    I think I've found the answer, I HAVE TO USE DISK UTILITY to burn an image disk, and not :
    Open the new dvd
    drag and drop the image disk to burn
    and click the "burn" button on the top right of the window.
    Grrrrr
    Here is a post with the answer.

  • How to make a bootable 10.7 disk from app store download

    I've been holding off of upgrading from 10.6 due to needing to find hardware that is supported by the newer OS's. I've paid for the newer versions and they are waiting in the App Store for me to get but I don't want them to install on my computer just yet. I would like to know how I can get the App Store to download the file as a disk image and how I can get that to burn on a DVD or thumb drive so I can boot from them should problems occure.

    Download the installer normally, click here, and run Diskmaker X.

  • Which component do I need to paste images, pictures from the clipboard.

    Hey all,
    I've made a java-application and with a click on a button, I jump to a drawprogramme.
    When I've finished my picture, copied i to the clipboard(ctrl c), I want to show it in my application.
    How can I do this and in which component must I paste it?
    Thanks.

    This is the code I use:
    Clipboard clipboard = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemClipboard();
    Transferable transferable = clipboard.getContents(this);
    if (transferable.isDataFlavorSupported(DataFlavor.imageFlavor)) {
    try {
    //pp is my panel to paste in
    pp.image = (Image)transferable.getTransferDataDataFlavor.imageFlavor);
    pp.repaint();
    catch (Exception ex) {
    System.out.println(ex);
    Sometimes it works, but mostly I receive a black box.

    Thanks for the link! I'm able to do a File Select via JFileChooser and display the image onto a JLabel using the ImageIcon method (many thanks for that!). Currently, this is what I have (ImageFilter() extends FileFilter):
         ImageIcon photoIcon;
         JLabel photoLabel = new JLabel();
         JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser();
         <snip>
         private JPanel DPCtr()
              <snip>
              photoIcon = new ImageIcon("default.jpg");
              photoLabel.setIcon(photoIcon);
              photoLabel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(150, 150));
              <snip>
              return p;
         <snip>
         public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent a)
              if (a.getSource() == browseBut) {
                   fc.setFileFilter(new ImageFilter());
                   int returnVal = fc.showOpenDialog(DiseasePane.this);
                   if (returnVal == JFileChooser.APPROVE_OPTION) {
                        File imgFile = fc.getSelectedFile();
                        try {
                             photoIcon = new ImageIcon(imgFile.toURL());
                        } catch (MalformedURLException e) {
                             System.err.println("Invalid URL");
                        photoLabel.setIcon(photoIcon);
         }

  • What file format is needed to import images files from Lightroom or CC directory?

    I have tried accessing psd, tiff and jpeg files to import them into Adobe Shape.  All have received an error message saying that the file format isn't supported. What file format should I be using for my images in order to import them?
    Thank you!

    If your not going to do any individual layer effects or animation then TIFF's would be generally easier and faster to work with. If you are gong to do some effects and layer animation you should do that in Motion then bring the Motion project into FCP.
    My Opinion, My Two Cents, That's might be what its worth.

    Hi,
    No solution. Finally a reinstall snow leopard from scratch and no problem anymore.
    Thx

  • How can I create a disk image of snow leopard installer disk from my Imac which runs it?

    how can I create a disk image of snow leopard installer disk from my Imac which runs it? It came without DVD installer, and I want to make a copy of it's OS installer but can't find out how.

    You need to have the disc in order to create disk image of snow leopard installer disc. What did your machine ship with? If something later than SL, then why? If earlier, then you can buy the SL installer disc and make the disk image.

  • HT203176 i have a slow macbook, i ran live disk utilities and said I need to repair disk from a cd. did that, I got volume repaired from the external disk. when I reboot from hdd, then run disk utility, I get the same error message i did b4 repair

    i have a slow macbook, i ran live disk utilities (from hard drive), turned out I needed to repair disk from a installation disk. Did that, I got the volume (Hard drive) repaired from the installation disk disk. To this point, great!
    When I reboot from hdd, then run disk utility, I get the same error message i did b4 repair. I went thru two rounds of this.....
    Can anyone help? thanks

    Sorry guys, I don't see how to reply to you so I use reply to "me" basically.
    So the error I get is "volume header needs minor repair" and then you need to perform repair from the installation disk message.
    I did repair not verify from the disk twice. Every time ending in the "the volume had ha been successfully repaired". Then I reboot from the internal disk. Run disk utilities from it, do verify and get the same error message I got before repair. I hope this can shed some light fr you guys. Sorry I didn't include details in the original

  • How can i view nikon images in photoshop? i have cs4 so the camera raw plug-in is not an option and i've lost my disk from the initial purchase of the D90.

    how can i view nikon images in photoshop? i have cs4 so the camera raw plug-in is not an option and i've lost my disk from the initial purchase of the D90.

    The NEF file only gives a little "nef" icon.  i was able to convert the NEF to DNG on the old computer and then brought the files over to the new computer.  On the old computer, the NEF files were depicted as little jpeg's so I would be able to see a picture of what each file represented.  On the new computer, both the NEF files and the DNG files are depicted with icons, "nef" or "dng", but not as little pictures.  On the new computer, though, I am to import the DNG's into Adobe and edit them so that is working regardless of whether or not a picture is present for the icon of each file.  I've downloaded the DNG converter from Adobe and will try the conversion directly on the new computer when I get home from work.  I do appreciate your responses and will let you know how it works.
    I am curious then, since right now the files are represented by little "nef"'s and little "dng"'s: If I also download the viewNX (spelling might be wrong, sorry) from nikon, do you know if that maintains the file as a RAW format file but allows a picture representation of the RAW file for the icon?  (That would make it easier to choose which RAW files I would choose to edit and which to not even bother with as an initial culling if that makes sense.
    Cheers.

  • I have an imac 2009 the disk drive is damaged and I have lost the passwords I need to reset passwords I tried booting with a macosx disk from an external hard drive but did not read the drive how else can I reset password ?

    I have an imac 2009 the disk drive is damaged and I have lost the passwords I need to reset passwords I tried booting with a macosx disk from an external hard drive but did not read the drive how else can I reset password ?
    I have a 2012 mac book pro can I use that to connect with firewire and load osx that way? and how woudl I do that?
    Thanks so much!

    To what password are you referring? Do you mean your user account's admin password? Or do you mean the master password for File Vault or do you mean a Firmware Password?
    For an admin password:
    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
         Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
         Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
         instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
         Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
         OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
    If you cannot do the above then try this:
      1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
      2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
         /sbin/fsck -yf
         If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command until
         you do.  If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message,
         then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
         mount -uw /
         cd /private/var/db/netinfo
         mv local.nidb local.old
         rm ../.AppleSetupDone
         shutdown -r now
    The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
    This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
    How to reset the OS X password without a startup CD:
    Reboot into Single-user Mode. Enter the following and press RETURN after each command line
       1. Type fsck -fy
       2. Type mount -uw /
       3. Type passwd <username>
    I have never tried this method myself.

  • My Mac G-4 OS X will not image an icon of the zip disk with I inserted into my computer's built-in Zip Drive, therefore I can not remove the zip disk from my computer.  What can I do?

    My Mac G-4 OS X will not image an icon of the zip disk with I inserted into my computer's built-in Zip Drive, therefore I can not remove the zip disk from my computer.  What can I do?

    Thanks Old Comm Guy, BD Aquam and Texas Mac Man for youradvice and reply to my question
    and problem with my Zip Drive.  However:
        1.  Depressing mouse buttonon start up did not eject the zip disk.
        2.  To examine front of zipdrive, I had to remove many screws and several plastic case
             coverings.  Upon doing thatI discovered that, unfortunately, there is no whole in front
              of mybuilt-in zip hardware drive for me to insert a paper clip to manually eject zipdisk.
          3.  I went to the Utilities folder in myMac OS X Application folder, but I could not find
               theiomega zip drive in there.
    Also, I did go into my "9" System folder and thento the Extensions folder within it and did find an icon of an
    Iomega Driver. When double clicking on it a window came upstating I was opening the application
    "ColorSync Extension" for thefirst time, and asking if I was sure I wanted to open this application.
    Uponclicking open nothing happened - nothing opened.
    I also went into the "System X" folder>Libraryfolder>Extension folder>IomegaSAM.ket icon and double
    clicked on it and asmall window opened stating "Compiling file List", however nothingopened it just
    continued to compile, so I closed it.
    Within my Mac OS X HD>  Applications>Iomega folder>Iomega Tools.app a smallwindow opened up
    with several options (Erase, Protect, Disk Info and DriveInfo). Clicking on the Drive Info a message says:
    "No Iomega Drives or noIomega Driver found.  Therefore, Ihave gone to Mac, Iomega and other websites
    trying to find a Driver for thebuilt-in Zip Drive in my Mac G-4 OS X 10.4.11, but have not really found anythat work.
    CAN ANYONE TELL ME IF THERE IS A WEBSITE WHERE I CANDOWNLOAD A NEW DRIVER FOR MY ZIP DRIVE?
    Thanks,     Peterfromcrystallake

  • I need to reinstall photoshop 2004 from disk  to my new windows 8 or 8.1

    My laptop crashed.  I need to reinstall photoshop 2004 from disk  to my new windows 8 or 8.1 (can't remember which it is), but my laptop freezes every time I insert the disk.  Can anyone help?

    If you will tell me what 2004 means. Photoshop CS or version 8 came out around that time and since activation has been terminated for that version, you are entitled to the CS2 replacement:
    Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
