Need Chapter Markers from Quicktime.

Im trying to figure out how I can see the same chapters markers in Compressor I can see in Quicktime. I have an m4v video whihc when played in quicktime shows me chapter markers. those markers do not come up in compressor. can I import a chapter list?

Re-export the video, selecting DVD Studio Pro Markers, rather than Chapters Markers.
This is an issue new to FCP Studio 3.
Also, don't export using Quicktime Conversion to .m4v.
Export to Quicktime Movie, Self-contained and create the .m4v in Compressor. The Apple TV preset is very good.

  • Lost chapter markers from QuickTime movie in iDVD '08

I have edited a movie in Final Cut Express 4 and exported it to a Quicktime movie. I put in four chapter markers in FCE, and these appear perfectly in the QT movie. When I import this into iDVD 7, there are the correct number of buttons on the scene selection menu, but they all open the movie at exactly the same place.
Is there any way to make iDVD open them properly?

j/c .... are there more than 36 chapter markers / sceenes in your FCE movie?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA40250?viewlocale=en_US
if the above simply doesn't apply, then might you have any of these chapter markers located within 2 seconds of the start or end of your QT movie?
might there be any chapter markers located within a transition?

  • Removing unwanted chapter markers from m2v files

I inadvertantly left some unwanted chapter markers in FC sequences which I then exported as m2v files. Is there any way to remove the chapter markers from the m2v files so I don't have to re-render to m2v? I have lots of files!

The original files were edited in FCP, then edited in Motion to add graphic overlays. From there, they were rendered as m2v using Compressor.
The chapter markers are all visible in both FCP and Motion, but both of those options require re-rendering from the source file type back to m2v. This is a time consuming step that I'm hoping to avoid by, somehow, removing the chapter markers from the m2v file itself.
I just need to know if there is any way to remove a chapter marker from an m2v file.

  • Exporting Chapter Markers from FCPX

In FCP7 I can export my master file with it's chapter markers to a new movie file ready for DVDStudioPro.
How do you export chapter markers from FCPX?
Also, FCP7 allows you to export without making a self contained movie file that DVDStudioPro can use to burn the DVD.
Is it possible to export from FCPX without making a self contained movie file?
    If so, how?
    Thank you for your help.

If you're going to DVD Studio Pro, it will need to transcode to mpeg-2 at some point.  If you exported a referenced QT movie from FCP7 previously, then DVD Studio Pro was doing the transcoding for you.
In FCPX, I suggest exporting using Compressor 4.  Apply the DVD preset (mpeg2 video and dolby digital audio) and you can also apply chapter markers within Compressor.
Import the 2 resulting files into DVD Studio Pro and no further transcoding (other than menus) will need to be performed when you burn the disc.

  • Keep chapter markers from fcp 7 to dvd studio 4

    might've posted this before...
ive used iDVD for a while and know the preference for the chapter markers from FCP 7 to iDVD.  finally using Studio pro trying to firgure out about automatic chapter markers.  I edited it in FCP X and exported it to make the chapters in FCP 7
I have a few different format files
    from FCP 7
8.03 gig DVD studio chapter marked
        8.03 gig compression marked
    then in compression
    best quality 90 min DVD
A dolby Digital Pro 2 says "the destiation does not have read/write access"
    or the mpeg 2     6.2mbps 2 pass      """"""
then I tried using individual clips from fcp 7 in/out export feature, but that seems to to be to large
how should i fix this annoying issue

    I'm talking about Compressor.
Compressor wants a destination to which to send an output file. Unless otherwise specifiedm the default destination is Source. That means it will be written to wherever (drive>folders path) the source file was stored.

  • Will iDVD 08 recognize chapter markers from FCE 3.5 HD?

Will iDVD 08 recognize chapter markers from FCE 3.5 HD?
    Thanks, Ed

A qualified "yes". Meaning it should work as stated but in practice there are some issues. There are fewer issues with FCE => iDvd6 than there currently are with iLife'08. I don't have a good explanation for this.
Btw, this is strictly an observation on my part from reading this forum. Keep in mind I do not own / work with FCE but rather with FCP => DVDSP as well as with apple's i-Apps.

  • Importing chapter markers from Final Cut Pro

I usually set up my chapter markers and screen shots in FCP.
If I share this to QuickTime or iTunes library, the chapter markers are present and work well.
This was not always the case but since the latest update of FCP it works like a charm.
However if I export it to COMPRESSOR (because it works faster) the markers are lost.
I have successfully set channel markers in COMPRESSOR and that works, but my work flow seems to make more sense to set up the channels in FCP. (this is mostly because I often decide to do an edit change when I think about the marker...)
COMPRESSOR gives me the option to load markers, but I don't know how to get them out of FCP.
    So...
What do I need to do to export markers from FCP so they can be imported to COMPRESSOR.
(before you ask, both FCP and COMPRESSOR are the latest post-Christmas, vastly improved versions.
    Thanks.

Barry, You shouldn't have to do anything. What settings are you compressing to?

  • How to Copy Chapter Markers from one file to another

    Hi all,
I am a relatively new GB user, so forgive the hopefully easy question. I want to combine four GarageBand files into one, in order. So right now i have part 1, part 2, part 3, etc.
I figured out how to copy and paste the actual recordings in sequence (selected them all, copy and paste, worked great.) But I also have chapter markers that I want to copy and paste. I have the spacing worked out PERFECTLY and don't want to re-create them all. I know that I can select all the markers in a file, but they don't seem to want to paste. Instead, the headings from the file that were already there seem to repeat (most likely because of the time headings...)
Is there an easy way to do this?
    - Many thanks,
    Michael

    Hmm. This is a stumper.
I don't think it's possible in GB, obviously.
The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is to (from GB) export each project as it's own podcast quicktime movie, then use another app to stitch these movies together? I would think QuickTime Player Pro would do this.
I tried looking for the chapter markers within the quicktime movie file, hoping you could copy and paste just those, but I didn't find any access to them.

  • Exporting chapter markers from FCP

I'm trying to export markers from my FCP (Final Cut Studio 2) timeline which I can then use as chapter points in DSP. I have exported the timeline with DSP markers but when I import the .mov into DSP no markers are apparent. Any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance. x

    Hello!
There is a few options here.
Personally I would suggest you send your timeline to compressor to encode to mpeg2 for DVDSP.
If you have placed those markers and made sure they are a <CHAPTER> in the comments section in your marker window, you can click add chapter marker in that window too, then the mpeg 2 will include those in DVDSP project when you import them.
(the marker window to make sure its a <Chapter> hit the M key when your play head is on the same frame as the marker.)
Bringing a quicktime into DVDSP has to encode the QT anyway... might as well do it right in compressor.
if thats not an option you can....
There is a way to import a "Marker List" but I dont remember how I did it. I just tried making a text edit document which I thought I did but that didnt work.
I will do some research and post back but I would suggest you encode your Project with chapter markers.
You can export using quicktime and include chapter makers too.. its a setting in your export options

  • Missing Chapter Markers from Final Cut Express

I have created DVDs with chapters using iMovie and iDVD. No problems. Now I have upgraded to Final Cut Express HD, and I cannot get iDVD to see its chapter markers.
I have followed the Knowledge Base article to the letter. I was careful to have nothing selected in the time line when applying markers. Following hints in this forum I have tried exporting either Chapter Markers or FCP Markers. I have tried exporting the Quicktime movie self contained or not. I have tried restarting Final Cut Express, which helped when other FCX features locked up after long sessions.
I'm stuck. Can anyone suggest something else to try?

    Hi Al Q,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
    Suggestion,two things to check:
Open the exported QuickTime movie in QT Player, do you see the chapter markers (a pop-up menu below the viewer)? If it is, then the export from FCE is okay, otherwise, something is still not correct in FCE.
Check the iDVD's Preferences, is the "automatically create scene selection menus" enabled?

  • Chapter Markers from Compressor to Studio Pro

I am tearing my hair out trying to figure out how to get the chapter Markers imported to Studio Pro when I compress my work in Compressor. I realize that they can be added after the fact in the Sudio Pro Timeline but it is a cumbersome process. My prefernce is to stay away from Qiucktime for Exporting as I have had better succes with Compressor. Any experts with Ideas?

    Some ideas from a no-expert.
Did you exported your movie from FCP with Chapter Markers? File > Export > QuickTime Movie and select Markers > DVD Studio Pro Markers
If you did, you'll see the markers in Compressor preview. Those Markers must be in your final MPEG2 encoded video and DVDSP must see them.
Post your workflow if that don't that way for you.

  • Exporting "Selected Clips" and iDVD Chapter Markers from iMovie

I've tried exporting "selected clips" from iMovie . The iDVD Chapter Markers do not appear as a menu option on the initial iDVD menu screen when "selected clips" is checked in the iMovie Share option. The chapter markers are limited to the clips I'm exporting. The "Share" dialog box seems to indicate that Chapter Markers should export but they don't. // I'm trying to break up a movie that's too long for a DVD (but I will later share to video from iMovie). I'd prefer not to make two iMovie projects out of this. Thanks!

    Hello, John,
    Welcome to the discussions.
You can either do your 'share to video from iMovie' before or after creating your iDVDs. But, you will need to create a second iMovie if yours is too long for one DVD and you are wanting to make 2 DVDs from the one long movie.
To make the second one before sharing the entire movie:
Select the clips you want in the second movie, then go to 'Edit' and 'Copy'.
Then, select 'New' iMovie. When it opens, give it a name like "Part2" and then 'Paste' your selected clips. Save the movie, then go back to the first one. Delete the clips you just copied.
Close iMovie. Open your DVD project. Find the 'Media' tab, go to 'Movies' and drag and drop your first movie into iDVD. Finish the iDVD project. Save and close.
Then, create the second iDVD project for your second movie in the same way.
Do 'save as disk image' for each iDVD project. That way your project is intact for each one, and you will not lose anything when you change the iMovies. You can burn your DVDs from the disk images.
Now, go back to your second iMovie. Select the clips and copy. Close that movie and open the first one. Paste the second set of clips. Now you have your original movie back and can do your share to video from it. Delete the second movie.

  • FCP-X  Compressor 3.0.5 (need chapter-markers)

    Can I send a FCP-X-project to Compressor 3.0.5?
I just need to set DVD-chapter-markers in there!
Or do you have another idea how to set individual chapter-markers??

This is more evidence that Apple really is not catering to a professional audience. Their agenda for a while has been digital-only content. They focus on getting finished products to ipods, ipads, and apple TVs.
Even consumers have complained about iDVD being ignored over the years in terms of feature set. I bet the next iLife will be the one to not include it.

  • Chapter Markers from Premiere Pro

If I put chapter markers in a Pr sequence then use the Dynamic Link to bring the sequence to Encore where I could link to the chapter markers.
Is it possible to Export -> Media and create a MPEG2-Blu-ray or MPEG2-DVD and import those files into Encore and have those Pr chapter markers available in Encore?

So the "bad" mpeg sidecar files are from PR CC?
Can you create a short (2 minutes) sample file with 3 or 4 encore markers, and test it for this error? If you can confirm the error, then upload so I can take a look at the files.
Do you still have PR CS6 installed at present? If so, can you also export the same short file from PR CS6?
