Need clarification on issue with tablespaces

Hi All,
I needed clarification on this issue with tablespaces.I am following a guideline which says "Presently,The general rule of thumb is to concentrate on tablespaces that are 90% or greater used and have less than 2 GB of free space"
My Scenario:-Now i have tablesace which is 97.23 % and the free space is 10 gb.Please advise me that whats the best next step I can take in this respect?
I am very new to this and just following the guideline,so can you all please explain me some details about this.

Since that tablespace as 10GB of free space, the guideline says that you do not need to concentrate on it. Eh ?
I would be careful with guidelines that are hard-coded in this manner. You need to know the context in which the guideline was set.
Assuming that your database/application doesn't grow suddenly by 1GB or larger (or create temporary segments / objects of 1GB or larger), the "2 GB of free space" might make sense. Then, again, it depends on the extent allocation type. What size are extents getting allocated.
You should check with your organisation's senior DBAs on what happens if you don't concentrate on a tablespace because it is outside the guidelines !

Need help troubleshooting issues with Adobe Reader X

Hello,
Recently our company upgraded multilpe computers to Reader X. Initially we installed version 10.1.0. Ever since our users on X have been experiencing problems. We are seeing three different issues.
1) A user will fill out the PDF and click print. At that point a popup appears with the message "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." The user has the choice to click on Debug or Close. Clicking Debug doesn't appear to do anything.
2) Clicking on a PDF in internet explorer will launch Adobe Reader and a progress bar shows on the screen indicating that the PDF is loading. The progress bar goes away and the user is left looking at a grey screen.
3) When attempting to open a PDF the user recieves this message "The instruction at "0x00720065" referenced memory at "0x00720065" . The memory could not be "written."
In every situation the only way to get past the problems is a restart of the PC.
As an attempt to resolve the issue we tried upgrading several users to Reader version 10.1.3. This was done by completely uninstalling version 10.1.0 and then installing 10.1.3. This did not have any effect on the problems.
Can anyone here offer and suggestions?

1. The OS on which you are seeing these issues.
Windows XP SP3
2. The method of deployment of the 10.1.3 update. Was it done via SMS/GPO/SCUP?
Originally 10.1.0 was installed remotely using a program PSEXEC. Once the errors began occurring 10.1.0 was uninstalled manually and 10.1.3 was installed using a copy from your ftp site.
3. Can you try and update any one of your systems to the latest version of Reader i.e. Reader 10.1.4 and see if it solves the problem.
We have upgraded one machine to 10.1.4 using the Check for Updates function within Reader 10.1.3 and are looking for any ongoing issues.
4. Which browser are you using to render the PDFs. Is the issue seen with internal links alone or with all links. We are using IE 8. The issues are seen with both internal and external links as well as stand alone PDFs. No one could open the link you sent but we could open: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/kb/en/837/cpsid_83708/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_Releas eNote_10.1.3.pdf on a faulty machine.
5. If suggestion# 3 doesn't work, can you also try and uninstall the installation on any one of the machines manually (i.e. via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features depending upon your OS) and install a fresh copy of Reader 10.1.3 (from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/en_US/AdbeRdr1013 enUS.exe<ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/en_US/AdbeRdr1013_en_US.exe>) and see if it solves the problem. If it does, then it may be an issue with the Deployment methodology followed.

I need help resolving issues with inbound mail on 10.8.5 server.

Let's start from the beginning.
I had a Mac Mini server running OS X 10.7 since 2011. I have a static IP and domain registered. I used it for mail, calendar, and web service. It was working beautifully until a week ago. Suddenly it stopped processing mail for me from google and apple managed domains. There may be other domains, I do not know.
I checked my external firewall and the correct ports are being forwarded (25, 587, 993). Connected to a remote network, I can verify that nmap shows the ports as open. I can telnet into the server on port 25 and send mail. I checked with the ISP and they are not blocking/filtering those ports and the DNS they are hosting for me appears to be correct (unchanged from when it was working). I've looked in the logs, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for, really. I upgraded to 10.8.5 and server 2.2.2 last night in an attempt to rectify the situation but I'm still unable to receive mail from my other accounts (iCloud and gmail).
I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue for a while now and I'm all out of ideas. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.

Hi,
I can send/receive mail locally. I send mail to [email protected] from [email protected] and [email protected]. This works while on my LAN and connected to my work via VPN.
I'm not listed on any blacklist, either by domain or IP using that tool. The MX lookup tool at that site lists everything as OK, the MX record appears to be correct. The SMTP test at that site shows a "failed to connect" error. The exact error is:
Connection attempt #1 - Unable to connect after 15 seconds. [15.04 sec]
I'm not sure what I'm looking for in my log files. I do not see any inbound connection attempts from google or apple domains when I try to send from my other e-mail accounts.
when I run the dig command, I get the following output:

Issue with tablespace

We had a tablespace and maxsize of it was specified as 'unlimited'. It has single datafile.
While creating index we are getting error 'unable to xtend tablespace.....'(ORA-01652).
Do we have to specify the maxsize while creating datafile also?

Amit,
Maran has good given description for ulimit.Will just add to it.You can check about ulimit ulimit.For root user the access to the resource to the resources are unlimited.For other users,we need to map the resources to limits so we use it.Like for example,tp increase the number of open files we can set some thing like ulimit -n 5000.You basically set all these settings in /etc/system.

Issue with tablespace PSAPTEMP

Hello,
Database alert logs (Oracle + Netweaver 7) says 'Unable to extend Tablespace PSAPTEMP'.
But DB02 shows taht PSAPTEMP is totally free.
COuld you please throw some light on this paradox.

Help needed on 2 issues with elements11

1. How can I compare 2 images . I cannot see this facility . Was in previous versions.
2. When using image upload ie from a camera , if I switch to the advanced option, then the top and bottom of the advanced screen, goes off my monitor screen stopping access to either cancel or upload.
Any help greately appreciated.

(1) In Organizer select two thumbnails and press the F12 key. In Editor click the layout icon at the bottom. (2) I suspect it may have something to do with your monitor settings. Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% to 149% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t. Sometimes the mouse or tool cursors are distorted.
Try a setting of 115% to 120% otherwise use 100%. A common display resolution, notably for notebooks/laptops, and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality. If your height resolution is out of the range 768 to 800 try experimenting with the slider/settings.

Need help resolving issues with reader X

whenever adobe tried to update reader it alwaus fails and says I ahve to be in administrator mode, I read on the net that id you right click on a .pdf and go to the advanced tab you can select run as administrator. I did that hoping that would allow the updates to install and not fail but all it did is whenever I open any pdf file now I get the UAC popup and have to say yes to open it.
Is there anyway to undo what I did to reader buy clicking run as administrator?
I do not want to get the UAC everytime I open a pdf file. I also DON'T want to turn off the UAC completely as a work around.

it says,
    Benefits of Bigfile Tablespaces
    * Bigfile tablespaces can significantly increase the storage capacity of an Oracle database. Smallfile tablespaces can contain up to 1024 files, but bigfile tablespaces contain only one file that can be 1024 times larger than a smallfile tablespace. The total tablespace capacity is the same for smallfile tablespaces and bigfile tablespaces. However, because there is a limit of 64K database for each database, a database can contain 1024 times more bigfile tablespaces than smallfile tablespaces, so bigfile tablespaces increase the total database capacity by 3 orders of magnitude. In other words, 8 exabytes is the maximum size of the Oracle database when bigfile tablespaces are used with the maximum block size (32k).
I need clarification on how to arrive at 8 exabytes ?
1024 x 32k x 64,000 ??
According to the exerpt above, there's no mention of maximum number of Operating System blocks per extent. Unless this was assumed knowledge ... how do I get 8 exabytes ?
And if "a database can contain 1024 times more bigfile tablespaces than smallfile tablespaces", then what's the upper limit on smallfile tablespaces ? -- was this sentence referring to the number of datafiles per smallfile tablespace ? ...

The maximum size of the single datafile or tempfile is 128 terabytes (TB) for a tablespace with 32K blocks and 32TB for a tablespace with 8K blocks. In resume, A bigfile tablespace is a tablespace containing a single datafile that can be as large as 128 terabytes (TB), depending on the block size of the tablespace. In conjunction with setting the initialization parameter DB_FILES to the maximum value of 65,635 the total size of the database can be more than 8 exabytes (EB)

Issue with SYSAUX tablespace.

Without backup and any old archivelog(more then last five days),IN RAC environment we are trying to recover one of datafile of our SYSAUX tablespace which is in RECOVER state.
sysaux tablespace having two datafile,while making online to second datafile it's asking for last month archivelogs which we dont have And while making online to SYSAUX tablespace it's giving error that one of your database datafile recquire recovery.
ORA-00279: change 195638767 generated at 08/10/2009 14:17:27 needed for thread 1 while recovering by auto
recover datafile 42;

Best Buy DOES need to address all the negative issues with Citibank!

Hi, I've read all the negative posts about Citibank.
I have been a loyal customer of Best Buy for quite some time and have purchased products from washing machines to electric guitars.
I have my own story:
I've had nothing but issues with them since Best Buy went to them. The last 5 bills I've received have been all messed up. Each time it's been for at least 2 hours. I never had problems until the switch to Citibank.
I have several deferred interest purchases. I've taken each of those, divided them by the number of months the contract is for, thus determining how much to pay each month to pay them off by the expiration date. Citibank has screwed them up every month. Distributing them differently than I had requested. One time in "fixing" their mistake, they "mistakenly" added an additional charge of $130 to my account! In reversing that they screwed up other distributions. That's why I've been on the phone with them so long each time. Some of them they still haven't fixed.
One six month account isn't due to expire until 9/16/2014, but the way they are applying the distributions it will be paid off 6/15/2014. A full 3 months before it is due. It obviously saves them having that receivable for 3 months.
Most of the customer Service reps have tried to be helpful but some of the time it is them that do the screw-ups. When I ask to speak to a Supervisor they are usually not helpful or rude. I was talking to one and he wasn't answering my questions, I challenged him and found out he wasn't even listening! Sometimes they say "it was a change that didn't get into the computer right". I've spent my entire career in the computer industry (Retail chains, Discount Chains, Accounts Receivables, and Bank Systems) You NEVER release a change until it has been completely tested. Apparently they have someone totally incompetent that department.
They apparently started a new policy 2 months ago that applied your minimum payment to the your revolving balance (non-promotional) first, if you only had Promotional balances it was applied to the one that would expire first. Again, it's a way for the bank to relieve Receivables earlier than they should. To their benefit.
I don't understand why so many of the Moderators and other responders have to be so rude and condescending to the people in this forum. All we hear is this Mantra that Best Buy has nothing to do with the credit card. Yet, the Logo on the statement says "MY BEST BUY CREDIT CARD". When you pay by mail the payment stub "Make checks payable to "BEST BUY CREDIT SERVICES". When you call they answer "BEST BUY CREDIT SERVICES". And you wonder why people think Best Buy owns the credit cards?
You are correct that Citibank owns the credit cards and processes them. But some Executive at Best Buy initiated having Citibank do this. You talk about it's just a marketing thing to have Best Buy's name on everything. Well I'll tell you. with all the complaints I've read here and horror stories that I have personally heard from customers, it is a very NEGATIVE marketing thing.

I've spent my entire career in the computer industry (Retail chains, Discount Chains, Accounts Receivables, and Bank Systems.) You NEVER release a change until it has been completely tested. Apparently they have someone totally incompetent in that department.
They apparently started a new policy 2 months ago that applied your minimum payment to your revolving balance (non-promotional) first, if you only had Promotional balances it was applied to the one that would expire first. Again, it's a way for the bank to relieve Receivables earlier than they should. To their benefit.
I also noticed that one of the Moderators posted a response to several complaints about no more 18 month deferred purchases that it was Citibank that discontinued them. It seems to be a very popular "marketing thing" for Best Buy also. Why keep a bank that dictates "marketing things" to your company?
Have any of these many complaints been brought to the attention of Best Buy Management? Do they even know about them? If they have, then I would think they would be concerned enough to re-think their decision on a Bank Card Processor.
Many have said they will quit buying from Best Buy. I will not. I like the stores, their merchandise and staff. But I have serious concern that if this problem is not addressed thier may nit be a Best Buy to shop at in the future.
For that reason I am sending a letter to the CEO and CFO regarding this.
I would suggest each person that has complained dothe same. Since the Moderators blocked out the executive's names on one of the posts, you can go to Best Buy.com main page at thew bottom under "Corporate Info/About Best Buy/About Best Buy (yellow Tab)/Executive Team and you will find their names. The Corporate address is one one of the posts in here. The one the they deleted the names from. Maybe all of our voices will be heard.
P.S. - Check back to see if I'm blocked or this post is closed or deleted. If so, another thing to comment to the Executives about...

Welcome to the forum, and thank you for being a loyal Best Buy customer! I'm very sorry to read of all the troubles you've been having with your My Best Buy credit card account.
If you made a purchase using one of our interest free financing offers, to avoid paying the interest, you would need to ensure you were making the minimum monthly payments and paid the full balance by the end of the financing term. For future reference, the promotion expiration will not be the same as the payment due date. The expiration is determined from the date of the purchase. This date would have been clearly marked on each of your billing statements.
If you did make other purchases during the financing period, the payments would have been applied to the account according to the credit card laws as the others have mentioned. It is my understanding that any payments made to the account would first be applied to all minimum payments due for purchases on the account. Next, it would be applied to purchases that have interest charges due. Lastly, if funds remain from the payment, they will be applied to purchases with the financing promotions, in the order they are set to expire.
As you may be aware, Citibank, N.A. is the issuer of your My Best Buy credit card account. Due to this, we have no influence, or access to their accounts or policies. It is however, my goal to assist our valued customers as best as I can; therefore, I will be reaching out to Citibank on your behalf to look into your concerns. and they should be reaching out to you directly within the next 3-5 business days to discuss this further. Need help on resolving the issue with adobe output server - error MSG256 & MSG 210 not in .ini file

Hi,
I am using adobe output designer 5.5 for designing the label template and using the Adobe output server for printing process.
In the Jfmerge.ini we given the condition "DiscardUnknownFields=Yes" for ignoring the unwanted fields in the .dat file.
During the process, I faced some issue with the output server in printing the labels.
When the .dat file is placed in the Data folder of adobe, the label is not getting printed in the printer.
The file is move to the error folder and an error file is getting generated which contains the error message as given below:

The output server is a new installtion and I verified the Jfmerge.ini file. It contains the message details of Msg256 and Msg210.
I also verified the license and it is a valid licence.
Kindly help me out in solving this issue.

I assume this is too late to help you, but other might need a hint. I had the same problem, and found some possible causes that I posted on http://codeznips.blogspot.com/2010/02/adobe-output-server-message-msg210-not.html.
It is quite likely that you are missing some double quotes around the path specifying the ini file (-aii), if its installed under "Program Files".

More issues with 7.4.1 & 7.4.2 - help needed : tried the usual fixes.....

I have the dual band 2.4 or 5GHz model AEBS, Belkin powered 4 port hub, Canon IP1600 printer, 40GB & 120 GB HFS+ USB drives. Win 7 64bit & XP machines.
I only 2 weeks ago did the FW upgrade.
With prior to these 2 FW's, i had issues with my printer not printing the whole page, it would always cut mid last line and then freeze. Had to cycle the printer to get the page out. It would not necessarily print the 2nd time either. The HDD's going through a hub worked fine. I updated to 7.4.1 hoping that would fix the printer issue, it did not. I then began getting "disk repair needed" on both HDD's over the next week; culminating upon both HD's going corrupt.
I reformatted both and moved all my music/movies back, and all was good for a week. Then today, turned both drives on at different times, and both need disc repair again.
So i unplugged them and hooked them up to my Linux Mint rig, and there was no apparent corruption, and all the files were playable.
SO I updated to 7.4.2 tonight, and the printer issue is still happening. BUT the 2 HDD are just fine now, after the update....so this leads me to think there was/is an issue with the router? Oh, i tried to directly plug the HDD into the router as well b4 the most recent update but still disc needs repair....of course they have been working fine for the last 2 hours...
Anyone have any ideas? Im ready to pull my hair out...Thanks in advance.

Hey Chris, thanks for responding, in my above post I mentioned my troubleshooting:
Since updating my iPhone 5S (T-Mobile) to both 8.0.1 and then 8.0.2 I've had more issues than I've ever had with any iOS in the past (with the exception of iPhone 4 running iOS 7, but clearly that is an older phone, not a 1 year old model like the 5S). Have tried resetting, powering off, etc too by the way.

FF 20.0.1 Giving Me Massive Issues With Tabs - Help Greatly Needed

So Firefox updated tonight unfortunately, even though I thought I had turned that off, and I'm having massive issues. It took about two hours for me to just get my shortcut keys working again and if I right click to "Open in a New Tab" there is no responsive activity from FF. If I right click on anything (on that MASSIVE menu, btw - really? I don't need all of that!) none of it is working. And any tabs I now manage to get open using my restored shortcut keys go unresponsive.
I've tried re-starting w/o add-ons, but nothing changed. And I'm not restoring to a default of 20.0.1 - at that point I'll scrap this update and go back to my preferred v.19 as of January.

Issues with a massive right-click context menu has been reported as caused by Firebug, so make sure to update Firebug to the latest version.
