Need Codec to view video files

I have a hand full of short video clips (less than 10 min. each) but cannot play them using any software (including Quicktime) because I get the error stating I am missing the correct codec. Getting the info on the files shows that I am needing the "PowerVideo Pro, Integer" Codecs. Does anyone have any idea how I could get this? I can still open the files and hear the audio but no video will show, just a black space where the video should be.
Thanks.

What type of videos are you trying to view? Can you post the URL or link to the videos?
Make sure you have the latest versions of the following installed on your computer:
RealPlayer
Flip4Mac
VLC Media Player
Perian (AVI and FLV support)
Adobe Flash Player Software

As a video professional, i agree and am VERY disappointed with this policy.  I attended CC presentations at various conventions, film festivals and meetups for a year-and-a-half before I made the leap to CC, and no one EVER mentioned a restriction to transferring video files.
Whether it's to save storage space or not, that's how it APPEARS to the end user.  Anybody who knows ANYthing about how video pirates commit their crime (which it most-certainly is), knows that there are plenty of FREE, untraceable (or nearly-anonymous) resources to carry it out.  The need for anyone to pay $30 or more per-month to do it with an acct that has their info attached to it is ludicrous!  If anything it's CONTRIBUTING to piracy to encourage creatives to transfer their material to collaborative parties using a less-secure, more heavily-trafficked third-party service than the one they're paying for exclusive use for.
Adobe's policy makers need to review this restriction and remove it or provide ANOTHER reason why it exists because this one doesn't fly.  And if it continues, make sure a disclaimer gets inserted in CC pitch presentations because likely half of the attendees are working with video.

  • Unable to view video files in browser :[

Does anyone know why Safari is unable to view video files in the browser ??? I used to be able to view .mpg video files right in the browser and when viewing .wmv files Safari would open up Windows Media Player which would then play the file. I really dug that feature. Now when clicking on a .mpg video file, Safari simply downloads the file to my HD and that's it. Is there an easy fix for this issue ??? Hello !!! Anybody ???

Tell the QuickTime plug-in to play the file inside a browser window.
Open System Preferences/QuickTime and click the Advanced tab. Click the MIME Settings button and then put a check mark in MPEG media.
Quit and relaunch your browser for these changes to take effect.

  • Which software I should install to view video file AVI format on my Imac?

Which software I should install to view video file AVI format on my Imac?

It's hard to say. AVI doesn't exactly describe how the video was encoded. AVI is a package that contains the video content.
However, VLC can play just about anything. That's the first thing I'd try.

  • Viewing video files.

Hi, I want to use  the airport extreme to hook up and external usb hard drive, can I view video files on my apple TV ?

Yes, if they're streamed from an iTunes library via Home Sharing. To specify an iTunes library on it, launch iTunes with the Option key held down(Mac OS X) or Shift key(Windows).

  • View video file on iPad 2

Sorry to ask this stupid question, after sync a converted mp4 video file from my PC via iTune to my device how can I view that video file from the device ? I don't see the Video icon from the home screen on my iPad 2

Not sure if you are looking for the movie itself or the video app - but I think you are looking for the actual movie. The movie icon will not be on the home screen. The movie itself may be in the Photos app if you synced from iTunes. Look there. The other place for videos is in the video app.
If you are looking for the video app it may be on another screen. You can swipe from screen to screen to try and find it. Look in your folders as well if you have any.
You can swipe to the right from the home screen to bring up the search feature. Enter the name of the movie in the text field and search for the movie, if it shows up - tap it to begin playing the movie ..... Assuming that the movie is in the correct format. I know nothing about the formats.
One last thing that you can do to restore the video app to the home screen is to go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This should put the video app back on the home screen but it will also restore the home screen to the out of the box layout.

  • I need to get some video files onto my iphone from a computer that does not have my itunes library on it

Currently I am away from home, and using a computer that does not have my main itunes library on it. I do, however, have some video files on this computer that I would like to place onto my phone for the drive home tomorrow. Unfortunately,  It seems there is no way to do this without completely wiping my iPhone and replacing it with this computers empty library, as the "manage content manually" feature apparently requires me to do this. Is there any way to just add some mp4s to my iphone without erasing all of its data?.

    What kind of computer?
On a Windows PC plugging in your phone will invoke the Autoplay dialog which also gives some options
But only if iTunes is installed on the computer and is paired as a trusted device. Which the OP does not want to do.

  • Need help shrinking iPhone video file sizes.

    Thanks in advance, folks!
I just recently bought an iPhone 4 and I love it. The only is, despite the phone recording in HD, the file sizes are huge. Even using the SD vga camera in the front, 2 and a half minutes equals 45MB.
Is there anything I can do in iTunes, or the phone itself to change the quality and reduce the file size? If not, is there a program I can use to do this?
I have searched all over the internet and haven't found any info. I really hope you guys can help me out. Again, thanks!

Pls change the file extension to the format in which the file was recorded for eg : .mp4, .3gp, .avi. Check first in which format ur phone records a video file and apply a similar extension do dat fill, revert if any query.

  • Needs to support additional video file types.

I would like to see LR 4 support additionals video file types. I have CS5 Premiere Pro and use this to capture video from a Sony HDR-HC7. PP 5 captures video from camara in mpeg format that LR 4 is not surporting.
I would like LR 4 to suport the capture formats of CS5 Premiere Pro.

You should put a feature request in the official forum.
For the moment I find over there just one idea, which asks for less than you want:
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/viewing_dv_files_in_lightroom_4
So if you open your idea over there and post the link here, you get broader notice and hence more votes to support it.

In Leopard, when i would highlight one of my video files, i would get the "play >" and "Fast Forward >>" and "rewind <<" arrows, along with a timeline "thermometer" indicator
now with Lion, all i get is a countdown clock in the middle of the video in the finder window.
is there a way to get the "play" "FF" "RW" and "timeline thermometer" indicator  back?
