Need color printing on 11 x 17 paper

What are my options? the user needs to print on 11 x 17 inch paper, which narrows down the solutions...
I found an OJ Pro K8600 ($500) and an InkJet 2900 dtn ($1K). This is for a network environment. I'd rather a laserjet solution, but the cost is so high.
My concern about the 2900 is that the model is at least 5 years old.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
Hank Arnold (MVP)

Thanks for the quick reply...
Looks to be a bit light weight, though. These folks will do 200-400 pages in a single job. I did come across a 2800dtn (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?storeName=storefronts&category=Inkjet&c...), though. My biggest concern is that it seems to be a 5 year old model.
We may end up going without the 11x17 requirement and get a CP2025dn. Laser and it seems durable and fast. What's your opinion of the two printers?

  • PLEASE HELP! - Printing Yellow on Brown Kraft Paper

Please, please help!! I am sooooo frustrated right now! For starters, I'm a bit beyond intermediate Photoshop user (10yrs of habitual use). I NEED to print yellow on brown kraft paper. There's no alternative. I have to or I'm going to have one VERY upset client. Really hoping someone out there can help me very soon or it's going to cost me lots of $$$ when I have to fake it and print the entire brown kraft-pattern background on white paper just to get the yellow to show (picture one, small yellow key on a full sheet of brown kraft paper)
Here's the skinny..... I obviously have chosen to have photoshop control the color management. The closest I have come is to use the printing profile: Japan Color 2002 Newspaper without black point compensation (I think I used Relative Compensation). The only way I can get the yellow to show on the brown is to actually PRINT a brown paper background ON TOP of the brown colored paper. Obviously, this is causing the brown paper to look quite dark. The yellow is perfect and I've now lost every other color (Navy & 3 shades of Gray). They're all dull against the multi-layered brown. I have tried manipulating the yellow to be more green or more orange and sure enough, they turn out looking green or orange. Should I switch to CMYK instead of RGB? If orange is a variation of brown, why does orange show up on brown so much easier than yellow?
Is there a way to manipulate the newspaper profiles to adjust for browner paper rather than grayer paper?
I am sooo close but I literally cannot figure this out!! Please tell me there's a color profile combination I'm not aware of..... and please don't tell me that printing yellow on brown is impossible After all, we're photoshop users. It's possible; just have to figure out how.
    Sincerely, One Desperate Designer

You may ask your printer whether he can use opaque yellow ink:
    https://www.google.de/search?hl=de&as_q=&as_epq=opaque+yellow+ink&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as _nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=
Standard offset ink is transparent. The reflected light is always darker than the substrate.

  • Color printing kaput

I sure hope someone can help me.
A couple of months ago my color printing started looking terrible.......dull and grainy.  It only got worse from there.  Anything printed from iphoto turned out garish high-contrast red/yellow/black, while Preview continued to print out the same dull and grainy.
This week I downloaded some of my photos and took them to a print shop.  They printed out beautifully.  So it is not the camera that is the problem.
Tonight I hooked up the HP Photosmart c4400 printer I got free with this laptop a year ago.  It prints nothing but magenta and black.  And even that is grainy.  Given that 2 printers won't print correctly, both old and new printers, I don't think it is a printer problem.
I think it must be OS-X.......maybe iphoto?
    Please HELP!!!
I need color prints for my work, so this is really getting to be a problem!

    Thank you, sig.
I just installed the hp c4400 tonight, with brand-new cartridges that came with it, so the print cartridges should be good.  And I had problems with the old hp as well, with new print cartridges, so I don't think it is a printer problem.  I read in another forum that someone started having color printing problems AFTER updating, so I'm not sure that's a solution.
I think there is something wrong with some setting in the hard-drive.

  • Help!  color printing KAPUT

A couple of months ago my hp color printing started looking terrible.......dull, washed-out and grainy. It only got worse from there. Now anything printed from iphoto turns out garish high-contrast red/yellow/black......looking literally like ****!  While Preview continues to print out dull, washed-out and grainy.

Tonight I hooked up the HP Photosmart c4400 printer I got free with this laptop a year ago. It printed nothing but magenta and black. And even that is grainy.
So I hooked my old hp printer back up.  Same results from ****.  However when I printed out a printer test page it was still a bit grainy, but the color is great!
This tells me it probably isn't a printer problem, but maybe OS-X or the OS-X/printer interface.
Come to think of it, I'm sure my printing problems started when I downloaded an OS-X security update a couple of months ago.  A terrible mistake!
I'm an artist and I've needed color prints for my work, so this has been a real problem!
    Please help!

  • I want to make 4x6 study notecard/flashcards, how do I change the page size to fit the cards I need, I want them to print on a standard size paper, but keep the text in a 4x6 margin, new to mac please help!!

The Idea is to set my paper size and page layout to a pre-screened 4x6 layout, which I can add and insert txt/pictures, when I need to print, I should be able to fit 2 per page, if not that's okay, but when I print them I will cut off the excess paper and glue the rest to a notecard, any ideas, NEW TO MAC PAgES

    Star with:
Menu > File > New from Template Chooser > Sidebar > Page Layout > Blank > Blank Canvas
If you need to have two cards on one page then just set up one using text boxes and images to the 4 x 6 (inches?), group them and option shift drag a second copy down the page so you then have 2 and alter the copy as you need.
Change the text and images to placeholders, capture those as a Layout and then save that as a template.

    1. To make the individual card follow the instructions for Labels & Business cards but use your size:
    2. To make the placeholders see Double folded Greeting Card.
    3. To make the template follow Letterhead and follower sets ignoring the irrelevant bits, and only capturing one page, before saving as a template.

  • HP Laserjet Pro 400 color printer M451dn Driver needed

I need to install an HP Laserjet Pro 400 color printer.  When I plug in the USB - it provides a driver which I can open and get to the install process -  The process takes me to the point of plugging in the USB and starts to install.
After 10 minutes and getting to 99% complete the install stops because it is taking to long.
I have searched for the driver on the web site but when I click on the printer name - the HP web site goes into an
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Need help with installing this printer - this printer is only available to me by USB

If you are using non-HP toner cartridges, then I would say that the onus is on the supplier of these to resolve the problem.
Or to accept that these cartridges aren't quite as compatible as they've no doubt been advertised to be.

  • Need to Print with color.

My printer (HP Photosmart D110 series)  has new color cartridge, and is already Align. When I print,  It come out with any color the paper, just black and no color.  What Can I do?

    Hi,
Try printing a Self-Test report to check rather the issue is ink or driver related:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00039556&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4023246&tmp...
If you do see colors printed correctly, access the printing preferences from the application use to print by clicking File > Print and then the Properties / Preferences / Settings button.
Click the Color tab and ensure the driver is not configured to print as Grayscale or Black Ink only.
If the hardware report does not include any color as well the cartridge might be faulty.
Remove it and ensure you removed any tape from it, try following the steps below and check if that may help, if the same persists try replacing the color ink cartridge:

  • Need to PRINT with PANTONE spot colors  - PROBLEMS

    Hello!
This is my first post here.
I am from Poland and I designed artwork for a 12" vinyl. It is going to be pressed in the US and so will be the cover get printed there.
This is my first abroad work... So far when i wanted to use Pantone for printing i prepared the artwork in CMYK and just noted (for the printer) which Pantone spot colors should be used. This is how it works here in Poland. But when i sent my artwork like this to the US printing plant - i got a reply that this is wrong and i need to prepare the files for spot color printing...
I prepared the artwork in Photoshop CS4 and i put it on a template for printing in InDesign CS4.
Meanwhile i got to know how to make new spot channels in Photoshop, but when i want to place that file on the template in InDesign - i get a message saying that i can only import RGB or CMYK files...
    I Need Your help!

    yeah, i knew that.
i think i sorted it out now.
i think my mistake was that i tried to import PSD files. But later on i saved them as EPS files i could import them to InDesign with the spot colrs.
We'll see what the printing plant says.
    Should be good now.

  • I need to print save the date magnets that are 8.5x5.5 but I can't seem to align the printer / paper

I need to print save the date magnets that are 8.5x5.5 but I can’t seem to align the printer / paper to print correctly!! HELP!

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? What program are you using to print?
How thick are the magnet sheets?  I would expect most printers would have trouble feeding this material.

  • Need PCL5 print codes to disable paper tray switching when tray is out of paper

We have a  HP P4015n with 3 trays, tray one has letterhead, tray 2 has plain paper, tray 3 has preprinted forms (all 8.5"x11" paper size).  This is connected to a Linux system with print jobs coming from a legacy software package - they are mainly text documents that have embedded PCL control codes.
The problem, when a tray is empty, the printing will continue to the next tray, which may have letterhead or preprinted form, etc.
Can I turn off auto tray switching?  Either using a PCL printer code or through the printer control panel?
If I am printing to tray 3, and that tray is empty, I'd like the printer to wait until the tray has paper again, and not use a different tray.
I played around with the "paper type" (letterhead, preprinted form, etc) setting found on the Printer's built-in web page, but when I send a job there, the printer needs someone to hit the "OK" on the printer. I assume the printer is looking for the paper type embedded in the document to match.  Is there a PCL print code for that?
I have been researching PCL5 printer control codes and can not find either command.
    Thanks for any help,
    This question was solved.

As for it moving up to the next tray, it all depends on the printer.  Some will not let the job continue to the next tray if the paper type is set differently but it is more common that the printer will just keep going.  The only workaround I have found is when doing large jobs that you know will exceed tray capacity is to just make sure the right paper is in all the trays.  The other thing too, is to keep the trays full (just make sure to put the fresh paper under the paper that is in the tray to reduce jamming issues).
I'm including the link for the history of PCL/PJL because at the bottom under Additional Documentation it links to pdf's of the technical manuals detailing everything you could ever want to know about manual coding for printing using these languages:

  • How do I bypass printing in color when I only need to print black only?

I have an Officejet Pro L7680 running under XP OS.  Is there a way to bypass the color feature on the printer so I can print in black only? When ever one of the color cartridges is out of ink I have no printer functions available. Can't print in black only, can't scan or fax. basically the printer is of no use at all if one of the cartridges is empty. From experience with other brand printers, there should be a way to bypass the color feature on the printer so I can at least print documents in black only.  HP refuses to help me unless I pay for a service subscription. I refuse to pay for the reasons ever since I purchased these HP products and I have many I have nothing but problems with them all and HP seems to be on no help since day one when I purchased these products. I need to print these documents asap and being a holiday there is no where to  purchase a cartridge today. Has anyone experienced this problem and have any solutions other than purchasing a printer from a different company

    dohr1,
This is done in the properties window for the printer.  There are a few ways to get there.
If you want to get there from the program you are using with Windows click File > Print > select the printer > Properties (may be Preferences, depends on the software being used) > Advanced > click the Print in Grayscale drop down menu and select Black Ink Only then click ok.
The online manual might help also.

  • Canvas and foil photo paper for a Canon MX880 color printer?

    Hi,
I have a Canon MX880 standard color printer.  Has anyone out there printed to a printer such as mine on either canvas or foil?  If so, how did it turn out?  Could you please share on where you buy your canvas product?  Your foil product?  Thanks!

Hi. D50 is the color temperature and the other number is monitor brightness. Do you have a camera club in your town? Maybe you could contact them. Meanwhile, try setting your monitor brightness and contrast to 50 percent and see if that gives more pleasing results.

  • HP Color LaserJet CP1215 - Color printing - Page prints yellow background

Good morning --- I don't believe I have posted to this forum before, so I hope someone can help me solve this issue.
    My CP1215 color LaserJet -
    printing pref set to color-
printing a document with colored icons, etc. or color photograph
Results: the "background" or what should be the white area, is yellow - bright yellow.
If I switch printing pref to B/W, I get a black/white document or photo.  Of course, no color.
I have replaced the yellow toner cartridge (HP product) TWICE, the second one just this morning.
    There are NO error messages.
Tried running the cleaning tool; disconnect/reconnect, etc.  No luck.
I gave up trying to solve this issue 2 years ago, and have kept the pref set to black/white with no tech issues.
Now, however, I have the need to print in color, and I would really like to figure out how to correct this problem.
This printer is a monster - ~30 lbs or more, and I would rather not have to haul it to a computer shop or ship it.
If anyone out there has had this problem, please let me know how/if you were able to resolve it.  Many thanks.
    Susan - Threecats

    Hi Threecats
I understand when you print in color you are getting a yellow background.
I have included a document for troubleshooting the all yellow background printing.
Print out a configuration page from Solution eight first. This document  will provide steps for cleaning and calibrating the printer. The Print quality troubleshooting page will identify the print cartridge that is causing the issue.
Let me know the results when you compare it to the one in the document and if the background printed yellow again. Also the Print quality troubleshooting page results.
What kind of paper are you using?
