Need comments/opinion

Need some comments/opinion regarding essbase implementation:1. our prospect client wants to analyze/report their financial statement using their G/L system (they use Platinum software). And they want it in such detail level as their g/l account / chart of account.Is it normal/usual?2. Beside G/L, they want to analyze their a/p and a/r too. So i guess i should create 3 database, 1. for the G/L (with detail account), 2. For the A/P based on their A/P module and 3. for the A/R based on their A/R module. Is that right?3. If the client wants to implement essbase (for analysis) and planning, should we separate the process of implementation into stages. First stage is Essbase and then second stage is the planning.Any comments/opinion will be appreciated.Thanks you very much.Indra

Typically:1. Financial Consoldiation cube - G/L2. Cashflow cube - A/P & A/RIt all depends on the type of analysis your client is interested.Usually you will want A/P and A/Rtogether to analyze cashflow.Start with cube 1.The dimensions in cube 2. willthen be similar to cube 1. except forthe accounts setup.Hope this helps.

  • Need the opinion of experts: N85 with Bluetooth pr...

    Really need the opinion of experts on this one.
    My N85 was swapped after the complaint that the Music Library Menu opened automatically after pairing with bluetooth of the car (permanent failure). Another complaint was that video recording was defective (intermittent failure). Also, Nokia detected great consumption of battery.
    My question is: the swap came back the same relating to the bluetooth problem.. Is this a case of bad repair or a case of low knowledge...? I'm wondering if the Music Library Menu is to open when pairing with car bluetooth (strangely)....

    The Dell Precision 380 has 3 PCIe slots: a x16 (for video cards), a x1,
    and a x4.  I'm sure there are other PCs on the market with
    multiple PCIe slots.
    Alternatively, the PCIe-8362 has TWO cabled PCI Express links.  So
    you only need one slot in your host PC.  This may not be the best
    solution, however, if bandwidth is your primary concern.  With one
    8362 connected to two chassis, the total maximum throughput is 160
    MB/s.  With two 8361s (each connected to a different chassis), the
    total maximum throughput is 220 MB/s (110 MB/s on each).
    Finally, keep in mind that the PXI chassis in your system are still
    running at PCI speeds (132 MB/s).  Plus, this bandwidth is shared
    across all devices in the system.  So the MXI Express connection
    to the chassis may not be the bottleneck in the system.
    Good luck!

  • Buying a Macbook pro for the first time and i need your opinion

    Hello everyone! I'm buying a Macbook pro for the first time and i need your opinion. I'm a Web Developer / Graphic Designer, and i need this macbook for my work. Currently i have these 2 options:
    1) Macbook Pro with Retina (13")

    2) Macbook Pro i7 (15")
    Intel  i7 2.6 Processor, 8GB Ram, 750GB HD
    So my dilema is. Do i go for the newest 13" Macbook Pro Retina & SSD drive or do i go for the 15" Macbook Pro i7 non-Retina, non-SSD hard drive?

    is user upgradable. The Retina is not.
    No matter what for your needs I would max out the 16GB of RAM

  • I need comments on this answer.....a gud comment will get points :)

    HI all,
    <b>Please read these two points. and give ur comments....if agree try to give me an example too. i ensure u for points</b>.
    1. instead of using system defined BADI's
    Our own badi (right from scratch)
    will not be useful for any standard sap transaction/program.
    (bcos this z badi, will never be called from standard program/transaction)
    2. But suppose we are developing our own z transaction/functionality
    in sap,
    then we can architect it
    so that it can allow for future changes etc,
    similar to how sap provides for user-exit / badi.
    (using our own badis in our own z programs is not compulsary.
    But we can definitely provide POINTS where such badi is called.
    With this, in future, we only need to change the badi
    and not the program)

    hi
    point 1.
    you can create a z badi for std sap.
    all u need is to deactivate the std badi and activate ur badi.
    ans in ur z badi plz use the same Definition name.
    rewards points plz

  • Need Comments in FRS report

    Hi,
    My client needs last column in the report as "Comments", where the users can provide explanations for the numbers in the report. Let me know, if there is a way that users can type their comments in a report.
    We also have a comment dimension, which has been provided for "to provide explanations", is their a way to use this Dim, so that users are able to write comments on the report, while generating it.
    I really do not know of any such functionality in FRS, if anyone knows about it, let me know.
    Thanks!

    Any ideas on being able to input comments during run time of report in FRS?

  • Need ur opinion ! very urgent

    Hi all jGurus !
    actually i'm developing a distributed and multithreaded clien/server application and i'm half way completed but still have few things in my mind regarding the overall performance of java language.... the general scnario is...
    i've developed a instant messenger application in java using Swing 1.3 which is ofcourse based on a client/server architecture. The general application flow is something like the Messenger Server starts up and starts listening to the server socket for clients and as soon as the client socket connects to it it spawns a separate thread [ lets call it a Servicer ] for that client, the story does not endz here as the Servicer checks that users login information in the database and its already online users list ( an ArrayList Object ) for the verification process and going all through that process it performs function like creating certain objects which should have life till that user logs of from the server i.e. the servicer exits from run() as i'm doing all these processes in the run.
    Now after the whole verification process the Servicer which have now DataOutput and DataInputStreams starts reading through those streams for strings through its readUTF() method and ofcourse writes to those also.
    as this application is serving the clients as hot instant messaging system it should be very robust and reliable..
    and must provide all the functions such as changing status , nick logOff, adding other friends and removing them, i'm keeping all the data in a database and to some extent in separate files on the server machine.....
    So guyz that was all the story, but now the question arises wut are limiting factors keeping in mind this scenario, if u have suggestions yourself please let me know. but first explain whut i ask u for.
    1.. whut are the total no of sockets that the server can open at one time(simultaneously). and as there is ofcourse platform dependency. so wut u guys think how much sockets windows NTServer or windows 2000 provides. suggest me if u think windows is not ur choice for such a scenario
    2.. whut if the no. of sockets reaches its max limit, ofcourse the server would reject the client request for the connection but whut happens when after reaching a socket limit, do the server again i mean after having free sockets available(as the clients will keep logging in and logging off) do the server efficently returns to its normal state, or just stuck up its resources
    3.. can i control the max limit of the sockets
    4.. how many separate threads i can spawn without hanging the server resources.
    5.. and in last u suggest me the best way to develop this kind of an application....... do u think the model that i'm following is the right choice.....
    guys please provide me your precious comments as soon as possible as i have to finish the project
    hoping to get a good response
    thanx in adv

    One way might be to construct an array of available threads. And then with each new connection assign your Servicer class to one of the available threads which will execute the run() method from the Servicer class.
    You can add some code to keep track of how many open sockets you have and to check if all threads finish their job. the number of threads in the pool depends on how much time will spend each thread in finishing the assigned job. If it takes a long time increase the number of available threads. You can fine tune this by checking how many free threads you have at a given time.
    For instance in your Server constructor you can construct the thread array:
    private static final int THREAD_POOL = 10;
    ServerThread[]  workers = null;
    //in constructor
    workers = new ServerThread[THREAD_POOL];
    for(int i=0; i<workers.length; i++){
           workers[i] = new ServerThread();
           workers.start();
    //in while loop
    for(int i=0; i<workers.length; i++){
    if(workers[i].isAvailable()){
    aServicer = new Servicer(clientSocket, reg_Users);
    workers[i].execute(aServicer);
    if(cleanFlag){
    startCleanEngine();
    aServicer = null;
    clientSocket = null;
    if(cleanFlag){
    Thread.yield();
    iLoop++;
    continue mainLoop;
    //in this code I am also doing some cleaning checking
    //mainLoop is the label for the while() statement
    //here is the code for the ServerThread
    class ServerThread extends Thread{
    * The thread executing the submitted jobs.
    private Runnable workToDo;
    * Creates new ServerThread and sets its type
    * as being a daemon thread.
    public ServerThread(){
              setDaemon(true);
    * Waits until the internal Runnable reference is null
    * then assigns it a new job.
    * @param job an objecxt that requires a
    * thread resource
         public void execute(Runnable job){
              synchronized(this){
                   while(workToDo != null){
                        try{
                             wait();
                        }catch(InterruptedException ie){
                        workToDo = job;
                        notifyAll();
    * Checks once to see if no job is pending and if not a new job
    * is assigned, the boolean flag is set to true and all waiting
    * threads notified.
    * @param job the object that needs to be executed
    * @return boolean true is the new job has been assigned
    * and false otherwise
         public boolean executeIfAvailable(Runnable job){
              boolean executed = false;
    synchronized(this){
                   if(workToDo == null){
                        workToDo = job;
                        executed = true;
                        notifyAll();
              return executed;
    * Checks for the availability of current thread.
    * @return boolean true is the thread is available and
    * false otherwise
         public boolean isAvailable(){
              return (workToDo == null);
         * Rejects any thread that is not owned by the current
         * instance. Waits until a Runnable job is assigned, then
         * calls its run() method directly, acting as its surrogate
         * Thread instance. Signals for another job by dereferencing
         * the current one.
         public void run(){
              if(Thread.currentThread() == this){
                   Runnable job = null;
                   for(; ;){
                        synchronized(this){
                             while(workToDo == null){
                                  try{
                                       wait();
                                  }catch(InterruptedException ie){
    System.out.println("ServerThread - current thread interrupted: " + ie.getMessage());
                             job = workToDo;
                             notifyAll();
                        job.run();
                        workToDo = null;
    You can read the documentation to see how it works.

  • Need an opinion please

    I am learning asc3 and loving it. I just ran into a problem
    as i tried to do a tutorial recently of where cards flip over and
    load random card design on them.
    i constantly get this error. if someone can please verify my
    work and opinion and tell me where i made the mistake. I dont
    believe its in the code but the placement of the graphics but i
    need confirmation on it and also on where the error is:
    TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of
    a null object reference.
    at Card/settype()
    at Memory/CardLoader()
    at Memory()
    PLEASE GO HERE TO GET ATTACHMENT OF MY FILES THAT I DID:
    http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?t=190078
    Thank you

    The error message answers that for you... it tells you when
    your code isn't working. Hopefully you'll remember that particular
    error message from here on out because it is common and always
    means the same thing.
    So if you go back to kGlad's original reply, the problem was
    identified there--in more translatable form. He would definitely
    have pinpointed the problem had you described how the Card was
    configured--I consider him a true expert (not myself... I learn
    thru the postings of others in these forums--lots of opportunities
    that my own work doesn't present).
    It is always helpful when people provide not only the code
    they use, but also the details of the how the pieces involved are
    assembled. Fair warning though... if you end up showing a mile of
    code you're less likely to get any help. Many of us that try to
    help prefer to have things narrowed down and to see that someone
    has actually done something to try to resolve matters ahead of
    posting. People that simply say "this isn't working" or "how do I
    design this", which is common, are likely to get a replies in the
    vain of "what have you tried" or "learn how." Try spending a few
    days helping people out here and you'll probably come to understand
    why.

  • Need site opinion

    Ok, I'm desperate. I feel like something is off, but I don't know what. Can you dear friends look at this site
    http://www.dahlingroup.com/menloparkdraftsite/
    and rip me a new one. Tell me what you like, what you hate, etc. Tell me if you can figure out what the site does without me telling you. I know that's always a big one for Neil.
    Let me know if you need any background on anything.
    Stan

    Neil
    1. Good to know, will reduce font a bit. Last we met, my font size was too small, I took that to heart I guess too much and now have gone too big! but I am using ems, so the user will be able to resize text in the browser
    2. will size down a smidge
    3. Yes, the overhead graphic is a tad large, I can probably reduce.
    - I like your suggestion of graphics changing on other pages, let's see if it's in the budget and if I have time
    - I struggled with trying to 'break out of the box' on this one. That's probably why the header graphic is so large. I see so many sites with just a header box, I know that's pretty much the standard and it's not bad, but I wanted to push the envelope if I could. I still don't think I did enough to make an organic header, but it's a start.
    - As you probably know from my stuff in the past, I tend to over think things. So instead of just making a web page, I always am trying to do something 'no one has done before'. Often that can lead to trouble I've found, and cause the design to fail, such as the first few iterations of the dahlin group site.
    4. I agree, client is getting more pics. He should be getting actual old timey menlo park photos. will work on the other part of this suggestion, ie, not stock photos
    5. Interesting, what did you have in mind? flowing text around the images? or angling them in place???
    6. yes
    7. ok, and I'll get back to the button frames at the end
    8. good point
    9. also good point, client has not been good about providing content. we really need that, I might google it.
    Great comments Neil,
    Ok, the big question. The buttons...
    I originally had this idea to have angled buttons, kinda roughed up as you see on the site. Does everyone like that? I'm not sure if I like it or want to go to a clean nav button bar. What does everyone think? and if you like it, suggestions for improvement?
    Pjones, I typically try to code for mozilla, while doing hacks for ie 6
    Jim, I try to keep my code simple, not using fancy techniques hoping to assure cross browser compatibility.

  • Need Expert Opinion on 3D LED TVs

    Hi, I'm a movie critic for a local magazine in the city.  My new assignment is to critique about 50 movies in a two week period, all 3D movies.  I've heard about the amount of strain on the eyes from long sessions.  Are there any 3D LED TV's that cause little to no strain on the eyes?

    theres a bit of misinformation here.  In the traditional sense, yes, the Cinema 3D TV's are technically Full HD (1080p resolution), but you are still only seeing 540 lines of resolution for each eye.  Yes, all of the pixels are active simultaneously, but the image you are seeing for each eye doesn't even meet "Enhanced Definition" standards, let alone HD standards.  Active shutter 3D, on the other hand, Outputs 1080p Resolution to each eye.  Active shutter technology gives a significant improvement to the image detail.
    The only benefit of passive shutter 3D technology is the cost of the glasses.  When compared to a Plasma TV however, which are not only cheaper, but provide better 3d performance (Active Shutter, less crosstalk, no motion issues, better PQ, higher resolution, etc.), you'll find that it's a much better deal.  You'll probably even save money, and end up with greater performance for both 2D and 3D.
    As a movie critic, I assume you need to be giving people the best/most accurate review possible.  This means moving up to a larger size television (55" at the very smallest), and picking up a set with at least decent quality.  I've watched 3D on 90% of the 2012 3D televisions on the market, and you'll find that some of it comes down to personal preference and changing settings within the television to adjust comfort level. When it comes to 3D, larger is better, and you will find your self wishing you picked up a larger TV.  (With a 65VT30, I still find myself edging the couch much closer to the TV)
    Quick question, are these reviews focused more on the movie content? or picture quality/3D quality? The answer to those questions will give the best indication on which TV is the best option for you.
    Out of all of the TV's I've watched, I've found the Panasonic plasma TV's to have the least amount of fatigue (aside from the inferior passive shutter LG LED TV's).  You can reduce fatigue even further by making adjustments to the 3D depth.  Active shutter LED TV's will be slightly more fatiguing due to flicker and motion judder (with the exception of top of the line models from Samsung or Sony).  Samsung plasmas are slightly more fatiguing than the panasonics, but the difference is subtle.  My TV recommendation would be a Panasonic 60ST30, which has one of the best price/performance ratios of any 2012 TV.  If you insist on getting an LED TV, I would recommend a UN60D8000, which will give you the best 3D performance (on par with or greater than plasma 3D performance), but you'll find yourself in a much higher price bracket (money better spent towards a PN64D8000 or 65GT30/VT30 plasma TV).
    Again, some of what I've said is subjective, but i've given my opinion.  If you can narrow it down to a couple of models, then head into your local best buy and pick your favorite.

  • Need advice/opinion on disk repair

    My computer crashed...twice. Upon the advice...and help...of Apple, I did a complete reinstall of my harddrive. It seems to be working well now, but when I run Disk Utility, I get the following message:
    A few lines of that just say 'checking' this and that
    The last line says, "The volume MacIntosh HD appears to be okay."
    Then in bold, it says, Repair attempted on 1 volume.
    Then in red, it says 'HFS Volume repaired."
    Apple tells me that it should NOT continue to say the repair has been attempted and repaired. That really means there is still something wrong. The only message that means everything is okay is "The volume MacIntosh HD appears to be okay." I have run disk utility a number of times, I continue to get the same message, even though I theoretically have a new HD.
    I then ran Disk Warrior. It corrected a bunch of things with iMovie, and now I'm getting a clear report. Disk Utility however still gives the same message that Apple says indicates something is wrong.
    Yesterday we put in new memory and checked the capacitor. There was only one that we could see (someone said there were two), but there was no cracking or leaking.
    My question: Is there something wrong? Restored hard drive, computer seems to be running well, Disk Warrior corrected everything and gives a clean report, capacitor seems okay, but Disk Utility continues with the strange message that Apple says may indicate a problem. Is there cause to worry? Should I do anything else?
    Thanks for the help! You people are fabulous; I am so grateful for this board.
    Oh, yes, my eMac is almost two years old. I have Panther still.

    I'd put a lot more trust in Disk Warrior than in the Panther version of Disk Utility, so as long as Disk Warrior is giving you a clean bill of health, you shouldn't need to worry and can just blame it on some garbled Disk Utility setting. As a WAG, it might help to open Applications> Utilities> Console, View all logs, select ~/Library/Logs/DiskUtility.log, and delete that, then see what re-running Disk Utility> Verify Disk shows.

  • I need an opinion, now that I have a 500GB TC...I hope someone reads this

    So originally I asked for just a plain ole external hard drive for Christmas for my 3 year old PowerBook G4 laptop. Then I started doing some research, cuz I kinda realized I wanted something wireless so that I didn't have to go through the hassle of unplugging it every time I needed to take my laptop away from my house. Currently this is how I run things....I have lots of music and that's what's taking up the majority of my internal HD space. I do a little freelance design and am also a photographer. I have, for the time being, a small external hard drive that holds my files (design work, photos, etc). I have very little files that I update on my internal HD (like I said, it's mainly music). I have an iPod that most of the music on my laptop is on (I don't keep it synced, honestly that's not really a worry for me). So when I started looking into my options, I read about the Time Capsule. Of course the opinions on the Apple Store site were mixed, but it still sounded good, so I asked for one and got it. I like that it worked wirelessly, worked with Time Machine (which has gone unused since I upgraded to Leopard last Christmas), and according to Apple I could also use it as an external HD. Now that I am reading the TC forum (after having initial problems with the TC, which required the TC to be exchanged for a new one on Monday) I really do not know what to do with it. I am reading that if you do use it as both a backup system AND external HD it gets a little "tempermental." Some people have lost all backups and files due to inexplicable disc errors and such. I have read that you can hook up an external HD through USB to the TC and access it wirelessly and put your iTunes library and music on that external HD, but then it won't be backed up. Like I said at this time, I work on files by getting the files I work on off of my small external (which is filing up fast) work on them, and then save them back on the external....Ok now I'm rambling a bit...My question is
    Should I just use the TC as an external HD or use it to back up and get another external HD to connect to that....Then I can't attach a printer to the TC via USB....AHHHH too many options...What would you do??

    Just thought I'd throw my thoughts into the mix, although essentially I agree with VA2020. I have similar requirements for my set up: I have a laptop, which I keep my current working files on and therefore want to have backed up regularly (by Time Machine). However, I also want to be able to play my iTunes library at home, from wherever I happen to be. So I have a Time Capsule for backing up, with an external 500GB HDD (connected to that via USB) which I use as a music and image server. I also got a wireless combo-printer to take that issue out of the equation; and to make sure my music/images are backed up, I actually use the free Back Up software you get with a MobileMe account, scheduled to back up at suitable intervals via firewire to yet another 500GB HDD (these back ups are weekly/monthly, so it's not a big deal to hook up the laptop just at those times).
    I am also planning to use SuperDuper to backup the entire laptop system (I leave out apps, system files etc from the TM back ups so it's quicker) so I can restore in case of a total OS failure. This might seem like overkill, but this way I would have everything backed up, but with the ability to pick and choose what I want to recover. And although it seems complicated, once set up and scheduled, it all works with very little thought on my part. I admit TC has many glitches, but I still love the wireless backup.

  • Need expertise opinion on ADF custom BackEnd implementation

    Hi all,
    Jdeveloepr version: Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.5.0.
    I am working on an ADF application and trying to go with the following implementations which are currently working fine while unit testing (me alone- single user) . I would like to have a expert opinion as whether this would be a scalable solution for an application which will support multiple users simultaneously . I am very new to ADF framework , so please advice
    -The page are mostly inside bounded taskflows, which are nested and having backing beans are different scope. The backing bean is talking to a service layer (java classes ) to call the Webservice layer few database tables and then integrate and process the data to be shown on the front end.
    (we have decided to opt out of drag and drop technique in ADF, due to some UI design reasons and large Webservice calls, though it is possible as mentioned by some experts)
    The questions are based on the Database interaction, we have created an appmodule which has several VOs abased on entity objects and accessing them programmatically from the service layer like
    1. Get the appmoduleDatacontrol via the id name in Databindings.cpx and get corresponding VO implementation classes to invoke custom methods written inside. How good would be the connection pooling and state management of the application modue in production environments.
    2. for insertion - we call createROW on VO implementation and call an commit on the row implementation classes after adding detials to the new row.
    3. for select op- we create filter criteria on the view and apply them programmatically to get the rows.
    4. for update- get the row using the filters VO and manipulate the row using RowImpl classes and do a commit on then. (a commit on VO or commit on RowImpl, which would be better?)
    Any pointers to tutorials/Blogs related optimizing and testing this implemtnation to this would be really helpful.
    Thanks,
    JSWL

    Thanks,
    JSWL

  • Need expertice opinion on WebDynpro ABAP vs FPM for heavy custom apps

    Hi Experts,
    I have a lot of custom UI development,.for external users in SAP. Most of these applications can be simply developed using WebDynpro ABAP framework. If I do the same development using FPM framework I may need to do lot of reaseach espcially controling the UI behaviours like hiding, changing table cell  colors based on the data, manipulating the UI behavior in the runtime, lot more like this.
    The question I have is , which one is the right tool for my development FPM vs WebDynpro ABAP, what is the value in building the same apps in FPM rather then WebDynpro ABAP? If I develop these apps in WebDynpro ABAP does my client loose any new capabilities in he future releases? are any other drawbacks?
    The challenge i see the FPM Feeder classses doesnt have lot of interfaces other then few like ( IF_FPM_GUIBB_FORM, IF_FPM_GUIBB_FORM_REPEATER,IF_FPM_GUIBB_LIST,IF_FPM_GUIBB_SEARCH,IF_FPM_GUIBB_TREE,IF_FPM_GUIBB_LAUNCHPAD )
    to extend more custom UI functionalities, and the other thing I may need to invest lot of time in reseacrhing and analysing the framework events etc....Please can you shed some light on it and put me in right direction.
    Appreciate your time and help.
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hello Krishna,
    the whole story revolves around reusability and abstraction, extensibility atleast in this context.
    FPM offers more abstraction than Webdynpro. i am sure we all appreciate the standard webdynpro components for ALV, Value help, as this is something we could reuse and if we build our components that it manipulates itself with the help of configuration, customization and personalization.
    So all the Standard SAP Dev could be enhanced (not modified) by simple, configuration, FPM is built around this concept.
    So if you want to do custom development, which could be extended for your different customers with minimal efforts, you could go for FPM.
    So here are some takeaways
    1) FPM offers more abstraction than Webdynpro
    2) FPM offers more reusability
    3) Say manipulating the UI behaviour and say some customers wants view1 first and other doesnt want view 1 and wants only view 2. so in FPM you could simply do it with different configuration. and with Webdynpro, you need to manage this dynamically based on certain application parameter or you may end up copying certain comp,,or you use different usage,,,,and you could calibrate this.
    Regarding limitation with FPM interfaces, could you explictly share what custom development you intend to do and in worst cases, you could always use freestyle UIBB,, which is webdynpro abap
    in that scenario, atleast wiring, application config(app parameter, combination of webdynpro, with thier respective config),,could be reused.
