Need configuration help on producing dial tone

Hello Experts,
I have a Cisco 2921 router with VWIC3-2MFT-T1/E1 card. On this card we have T1-CAS digital line connected. We have been provided with a set of DID numbers. We have a requirement where, when we dial a DID, the router should provide a dial tone, and should allow the user to dial to extension numbers. Not sure if this is feasible. If at all possible, will need to some configuration help.
Thanks
Arabinda

Sure it's possible. What's the T1 connected to? The router will offer two-stage dialing (aka dial tone) when the incoming POTS dial-peer does not have the 'direct-inward-dial' command on it. The router will accept any input and search for an outbound dial-peer (or ephone-dn for locally registered DNs) to match. Be careful if the T1 is connected to the PSTN as this is a toll fraud risk. You need to use CoR to reign in what outbound dial-peers are available to it.

  • How can I make the E7 to produce dial-tones when c...

Of course, I can hear the DTMF dial tones when I dial the number from the touch screen.
But, I need the E7 to send dial tones when I call a contact (hence I don't dial from the touch screen). I need that because I'm using a calling card which needs the dial tones to be sent.
    It works like this:
In the contact details I enter a long number, with pauses, like:
    18001231234p09876543p011392109876
where the 1st numer calls the calling-card number, the 2nd is the pin, the 3rd is the international number I'm calling.
Of corse, when I call that long number (which is a contact) the carrier needs to "hear" the dial tones.
Hence, the question in the subject line.
P.S. If there is a better way to use calling cards, pls let me know.

I think I was wrong. After trial and re-trials I see the E7 actually sends out the dial tones.
Well, I don't know why it did not work at first. Now it's ok.

  • Debugging - need configuration help

I also posted this in Advanced Techniques by accident...
I need some help configuring my local development machine for CFBuilder debugging. CF application development is configured correctly, but I'm having problems configuring debugging settings for CFBuilder/Eclipse. CFBuilder is installed and connected to RDS, and the CF Administrator is setup to do line level debugging. I'm running Windows 7 x64 with ColdFusion 9 (using IIS).
All my projects are in my "C:\Dev" folder, and each project contains a "www" folder, which is the web root for the project. So I've got my projects organized like this:
    C:\Dev
         TestSite
              design
              docs
              www  <--- web root folder
I've created a ColdFusion project and mapped it directly to the "www" root folder. In IIS, the web root folder is mapped via a virtual directory under the default web site, and is accessed from "http://127.0.0.1/testsite"
I configured my RDS Server, which works correctly, so I can see the databases on the server. Nice. I also setup a server in the servers list in the coldfusion perspective and imported the settings directly from my RDS server. This one has the same name as my RDS server, which is "Local RDS Server." I also added a URL Prefix for "testsite" that is mapped to the local path: (C:\Dev\TestSite\www) and "http:\\127.0.0.1\testsite. And finally, in the Debug Mappings (preferences window), I specified "Local RDS Server."
Everything seems to be setup, but I still cannot debug. Here's what happens:
From the ColdFusion perspective, I right click on index.cfm and select "Debug As -> ColdFusion Application" The first time I do this, it switches over to the ColdFusion Debugging Perspective and loads "http://homepage/" and then nothing seems to work. In the Debug tab, it shows me that it created a new launch for my project as follows:
    TestSite
         Local RDS Server
              ColdFusion Template
I can see my breakpoint in my breakpoints tab. But I can't seem to get any farther. I can't find a way to run to my breakpoint. The home page for the active debugging session is "http://homepage/" which is something that I don't understand. How do I make CFBuilder go to the correct home page for the debugging session? That might be the key.

My previous post had to do with migrating an eclipse project over to a coldfusion project... that was my first one. I was finally able to get running under the debugger. Very nice!! I'm so happy to have a debugger available now!!!!
I just started setting up my next project, but I'm stumped. When I right-click on this new project, and I go to properties, and then click on my ColdFusion Server Settings pane, I want to be able to specify the address to use for debugging, which I would assume should be in the "Sample URL" field. But the field is disabled and it says "Sample URL is not available. (Project is not in document root of server Local RDS Server).
Local RDS Server is the local RDS server I setup, but I see where I specify a document root for the RDS server... I just specify a Host Name, which is my local IP address for my projects.
    Any ideas?

  • Please help - suddenly no dial tone

I would really appreciate any help please.
I just arrived home last night after being away for a few weeks on holiday. My phone and DSL (not with BT) were working fine when I went away, but now I do not get a dial tone.
My phone is a cordless one, so it was unplugged while I was gone, but I don't know if this would have caused any issues.
My internet still works fine, no problems there.
In an effort to solve this I have done the following:
1/ Unplgged everything from my one and only phone socket including DLS filter etc. I then just plugged in my phone, still no dialtone, so I tried another spare phone I have, again no dialtone.
2/ Then I removed the faceplate to the socket and triend both phones again in the test socket, still no dial tone.
What is weird is that if I ring my phone on my mobile, the phones will ring, but picking them up does not answer them, and no sound is transmitted along the line.
3/ I ran the online line test on the line and it came back saying there were no issues.
4/I spoke to someone at BT and have arranged for an engineer to come out next week, but obviously, does anyone here have any more suggestions of solutions as I literally cannot afford the rediculously expensive call out fee of £127 if there is something else I could have done.
I live in an apartment building, and no one else is having issues with their phone. The phone box for the building is located at the top of a piller in the back yard easily 4-5m off the ground.
    Any help?

As long as you have tried a working phone into the test socket and still getting no dial tone, you have done enough checking.... sounds like a one leg dis/ HR fault, this can knock out your phone line, but your broadband can still work.... just wait for the engineer...you can try and get your incoming calls diverted to your mobile free of charge while you wait... hope this helps

  • Cluster,FileServlet and images - need configuration help

    Hi All.
We're using 2 wl5.1sp9 as "proxies" and 2 wlcs3.2 as the application server.
We'd set the default servlet to be the cluster servlet
    (weblogic.httpd.defaultServlet=cluster
    weblogic.httpd.register.cluster=\
    weblogic.servlet.internal.HttpClusterServlet
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.cluster=\
    defaultServers=10.5.195.31:80:443|10.5.195.30:80:443,\
    DebugConfigInfo=ON)
where these IP's are the application servers internal IPs.
Now, we wanted to serve the static files (images, html, js) from the wl
    servers.
For our surprise, just putting the files on the wl servers was NOT doing the
    job!
(We believed that the cluster first searches locally and only after that
    looks on other hosts)
So we registered the images by file type
    (weblogic.httpd.register.*.gif=weblogic.servlet.FileServlet
    weblogic.httpd.register.*.jpg=weblogic.servlet.FileServlet)
Now, if we got images that are on the application servers, we can't get
    these files!
Could someone please help how to set this configuration correctly?

    Hi.
Please try posting this on weblogic.developer.interest.servlet or
    weblogic.developer.interest.clustering.
    Thanks,

  • Need Help with iMac G4     No Dial Tone

    I am working on a friend's iMac G4 800 Mhz. Has Mac X 10.2.3 OS. Internal Apple 56K V.90 Modem.
The modem gives error "no dial tone". This just recently started happening for no apparent reason. Tried different phone cable and tested the wall jack for dial tone on a connected phone. All tests OK.
This modem is "built in". Is this problem fixable? Is it a hardware or a settings issue?
The only fix I can think of is an external modem, but would like to fix the internal one if possible.
Any ideas? Any and all advice is appreciated. I'm new to Macs, so I have limited knowledge of the system.
    Thanks,
    Jim
    iMac G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Hello,Try going Apple Menu > System Preferences... > Network > Show: Internal Modem > Modem tab > uncheck the wait for dialling tone option.
    Does that solve it?

  • Need second dial tone after dialing 9

Hello, I am trying to configure CCM so when user picks up his phone and dials 9 he is provided with a second dial tone. Usually this is a feature provided by the local PBX but I wanted to know if I can do this on the CCM.

    Hi Farid,
    Check your 9@ Route Patterns for this setting;
    Provide Outside Dial Tone
Check this check box to provide outside dial tone. To route the call in the network, leave the check box unchecked.
    From this CCM 4.1.3 doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00803ed685.html#wp1023973
    Hope this helps!

  • No Dial Tone - Verizon seems no help

    I suppose I'm venting.
I came home Friday and my phone does not have a dial tone but I still had internet access.  I went through the website's troubleshooting guide on trying to disconnect and connect phones from the line.  Also opening the ONT door to check the status.  None helped.
I progressed to chat with Verizon agent.  It turns out that Verizon turned off my phone.  I was scheduled to have triple play installed (did not have TV option before) on Friday but I already rescheduled last Monday for next Thursday.  Apparently Verizon turned my phone off even when the installation was rescheduled.  Agent 1 said that I would need to have somebody come to the house to turn in on.  I'm not available in the time they had until my rescheduled appointment.  Why do they need somebody to come to the house to turn it on when it was remotely turned off?  Agent 1 says he could not help me and that someone at cssc might.  He transfers me to CSSC Agent 2.
Agent 2 said that my billing was fine.  (So I'm paying for a dead phone.)  and that he could not help me either.  He told me to call the 1-888-553-1555.
Called 1-888-553-1555.  Agent 3 answered.  He said that he needs billings help to try to fix the issue to turn on my phone.  I was transferred to Agent 4.
Agent 4 seemed to be trying to help.  She said that she was in contact with some department in Verizon to see what is going on.  I thought that it was being resolved.  Then on one of the holds, I was transferred to the large pool of callers and had to start over again with Agent 5.  Mind you, for each of these Agents, I had to start over with telephone number, address and the issues.
Agent 5 seems to be trying to help but within a short period of time, I was put back to the big pool of callers and had to start over again with Agent 6.
Agent 6 seems to be helpful.  She said that they had reverse the order to turn the phone on and that I should get service soon.  End of phone calls.  Almost 2 hours on the internet and phone trying to get my FIOS phone working.
14 hours later.  Still no dial tone.  Maybe it will be back at 24 hours.  Sigh.

Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board. you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information.
To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.
If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer that solved your issue as the accepted solution.

  • I need help with my text tone and I have ring tone. no text tone for the 4s.

I need help with my text tone. I have ring tone no text tone. I have a 4s.

Hi Sarar2333!  Let's get your text tones working again!
Here's a link with instructions how to enable and change your alert sounds for your text/notification settings on your iPhone 4S: http://vz.to/1stiF8a.  You can ensure text tones are enabled by selecting a tone in the "Text Tone" setting.  Let me know how that works out for you.  Thanks!

  • Need Flash Help - configuring AIrtight Simple Viewer Pro

I need some help configuring the Airtight Interactive simple viewer pro, which requires flash. I am a complete beginner with flash, and I am reluctant to undertake the learning curve, though I am very tech saavy.
My ideal would be to locate someone who could do this FOR me, though resources are very limited for this project. Any suggestions of where I might connect with someone interested in doing this?
Alternately, I could undertake it myself, with someone qualified to coach me rather thouroughly through the whole process. That could be offline, or here where others could benefit from the thread. If someone offers this, I will post the precise details of what I need. The project is medium challenging, not extremely complex, but more than very basic.
    Many Thanks.

    Hi:
When you create the simpleviewer slideshow with iPhoto's plugin there should be a folder created on your HD that contains the items seen in the screenshot below:
The folder was named simpleviewer because that's what I named it during the export from iPhoto. That's the same folder as I refer to as "Slideshow folder". It can be whatever you name it when exporting from iPhoto. Upload that folder to your iDisk/Web/Sites folder as shown below:
In the iFrame code use the following URL to the index.html file inside the simpleviewer folder:
    http://web.me.com/YourMMe_AccountName/simplerviewer/index.html
    That should do it.

  • Hard drive configuration help needed.

Just got the mac today and I'm starting the upgrades. This is how it will look. 3 1TB seagate drives. I am going to clone the factory drive to one. Install Vista through bootcamp on another.
This is what The Hatter had mentioned in another post that I started. "Vista is easy to install, doesn't need any help really, doesn't run in, under, or through BootCamp. Just format a drive as Master Boot Record, setup one or more FAT partitions (you will need to delete and create NTFS when it gets to the install screen in Vista). Then once running, you install some Apple hardware services and support to allow switching, synching time, and such. And install the latest Nvidia Vista drivers."
I can probably figure out how to get the process started, but I have no clue as to the specifics of the last sentence that starts "Then once running.....". If you see this Hatter, could you please give me the specifics? The third will be for storage.
I noticed that there are no jumpers present on the Western Digital that came with it. So is removing the limiting jumper's from the Segate's the only settings I need to worry about?
Lastly. When I install these drives, will Mac do the format or is there something I need to do first?
    Thanks in advance.

You'll need to consult Seagate's configuration information for your drive model. You can locate it at Seagate's web site.
Partitioning and formatting is done using Disk Utility in the Utilities folder. New drives that did not come installed from Apple should be prepped properly as follows:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
The exception would be if you plan to set up one entire drive for Vista. In that case when you partition the drive select MBR partition scheme rather than GUID and format the drive MSDOS. You need not use the Write Zeros option. When you install Vista it will reformat the drive NTFS.
If you intend to use part of one drive for Vista and another partition for the Mac, then prep the drive for the Mac as outlined above. Then use Boot Camp to create the Windows partition on the drive. Boot Camp will install the MBR on the Windows partition which you cannot do from Disk Utility.

  • Multiple ethernet network adaptors + MySQL/php5: configuration help needed

I would be grateful if someone could give me some advice on how to configure multiple ethernet adapters under OS X 10.5.6
I have set up my system to work nicely with two ethernet network adapters, each with its own fixed IP. This bit works just fine. The machine supports two separate servers - a mail server and the OS X Apache2 server. I have configured the mail server to only listen to one of the IPs, and the Apache2 server to listen to the other (via httpd.conf). The system also has MySQL and php5 installed / enabled, and these services are only used by the Apache2 server.
The problem I have is that when I start the machine, initially the php5 system cannot connect reliably to the MySQL database system. The fix I have found is to temporarily make the ethernet adapter connected to the mail server 'inactive'. While this is so, the php5/MySQL connection to Apache2 works. Curiously, once an initial connection between php5 and MySQL has been made, subsequently I can make the mail server's ethernet adapter active again without further problems.
I initially thought this might be due to 'service order' issues - but changing the service order (e.g. putting the Apache adapter 'above' the mail adapter in the service order does not help. The fix only works by making the mail adapter inactive temporarily.
I suspect that there is some configuration change I can make to clarify the setup I have. The MySQL and Apache installations only need to talk to the Apache server - but I am not sure how to record this configuration in the OS X system.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that you can provide.

They will only charge you if the problem is in your residence. If you had a wire maintenance plan there should be no cost. If your DSL is working your phone should be. I would say it is not a local problem in your residence, unless the phone jack where you are pluging your phone in is bad. Try unpluging your DSL modem and pluging your phone in at that location. If it works then you have a wiring problem, and will be charged for the repair trip.
To check if the problem is in your residence.
Open the customer side of the phone box on the outside and unplug the cable from the jack.
Plug your phone in at that location, and see if it works. If it does then the problem is a wiring issue in your residence.
If your equipment coming into the house is old, you may not be able to test it this way.
