Need different Address Book

I want to create a separate Address Book with folders that will allow me to keep track of hotels, taxi companies etc around the world. Don't want it mixed up with my regular address book. Does anyone know of a good program or whether you can create two distinct Address Books?
Thanks

Just curious why you don't want to use a group list(s) within the one Address Book. Also seems it would present a problem to Mail (if you use it) b/c it is tied to Address Book. Maybe not, maybe it would search both copies, if you can do such a thing.
There is a Mail forum under each OS. Go to Leopard OS forum, Refine list, and go to Mail. Maybe they can help.

  • Can I get my wife and my phones to synch to the same iMac, but have different address books - when synching we keep ending up with all the contacts on both phones...

    Can I synch 2 phones to the same iMac, but have different address books?

    If you and your wife have separate user accounts on the Mac, then each of you will have separate libraries to sync. You can them maintain separate address books, calendars, apps, etc.

  • Different Address Book name and Mail recipient name

    I sync my mobile phone with my mac so all my contacts are in Address Book (and hence are the same as my Mail.app addresses).
    I add details to the name fields in my mobile phone (eg wife's and children's name) to remind me when someone calls.
    eg.
    Bill Smith's wife's name is Jane and his kids are Tom and Sue. So the mobile phone contact might be:
    Bill (Jane, Tom, Sue) Smith
    That works fine for my mobile phone, but when I use the same contact for email the recipients see "Bill (Jane, Tom, Sue) Smith". Not very professional.
    I realise I could maintain two contacts for Bill (one with his phone numbers, and the other with his email address) but is there another way? Can I tell Mail to use a different field for the name or even just display the email address with no name at all?

    This is a very strange problem that I am suffering since 2 years ago.
    It seems that Mail.app likes to autocomplete your address book contacts with mail information but it makes it wrongly.
    This can be avoided by several ways:
    -unchecking that option in Mail/Preferences/Composing (I'm Spanish, so I'm not sure if that is the correct menu) but this also turns off the autocompleting when entering addresses in the "To:" form.
    Apple should make different checkboxes because they are different options...
    -putting spaces when surnames not needed so Mail thinks it is completed and won't autocomplete it
    -Checking and deleting "Previous Receipts" menu because here starts the problem. If here the name is ok, it will remain ok but if here appears dupicated it will be duplicated very soon (I'm not sure when actually) so check it, correct it in address book and delete the entry from previous receipts.
    -LAST AND BEST. Stop using previous receipts, it will still autofilling the "To:" form with your addressbook contacts but you don't have to check previous receipts every time you send a mail. Delete all the list, close mail and enter "defaults write com.apple.mail SuppressAddressHistory -bool true" in Terminal.

  • Can I have a different address book for each mail account?

    I have several email accounts that I use with Thunderbird. When I create a new email and begin typing the address, it autocompletes based on my personal address book. I would like to know if I can have a different personal address book associated w/ each account.
    For example, I have an account for work and an acount for personal use. Suppose I have two contacts: "Mark Smith" a friend & "Mark Jones" a colleague. If I type "M" in the adress field of my email I would like for only "Mark Smith" to appear if I am composing that email from my personal account and only "Mark Jones" to appear if I am composing that email from my work account.
    I am running Thunderbird 31.3.0 on Ubuntu 14.10.

    @sfhowes: That sounds just like what I'm looking for. Thanks.

  • Is it possible to have two different address books on one user account ?

    I currently have my address book on my mac however I would like to IMPORT an address book that I saved from our family reunion which was stored on someone else's macbook. I would like to keep this new address book separate from my own on my mac. Every time I try to Import the saved Address book, i get a message that says that if I import the new address book it will replace the old one...which is not what I want to do. Also, I do not wish to create another user account just to assign an address book to it.

    You can install additional language packs if you want to run the same Firefox version in different languages like I wrote above.<br />
    Select the one(s) that you want to install and click them on the XPI site to trigger the installation.

    The Locale Switcher extension allows to switch the language.

  • Different Address Books

    I would like to find out how to have different address/contact books.  I do have the contacts that comes with my iPad2 and Gcontact, but I want the information to be different without cross contamination of user info.  I am asking like can I have a Family Book, a Work Book, and Friend Book without the same information in each book.
    Thanks
    Michael

    If you sync your contacts from Outlook, you can assign all your personal contacts the Category of say..."Personal" then sync them to your phone. When you open your address book on your phone, press the menu key and select "Filter" and pick Personal or which ever word you chose to use.
    I hope this helps.

  • Address book and Mail's address book different??

    I thought all Snow Leopard applications shared the same central address book but when I change, say an email address in the main "Address Book" and later address an email, the old email still comes up. When I open address book from within Mail, the entry is different than the one in the main "Address Book" from the dock.
    Am I somehow running two different address books? How do I get them to share the same one?
    Thanks.

    Great. That does seem to be where Mail was getting it's information. I just deleted that whole list and life is better. Thanks for the info.

    Hello,
    Under settings on the BlackBerry there is an accounts option; one of these accounts should be a BlackBerry Link account.  Removing this account will remove contacts and calendar appoinments sync'd by BlackBerry Link.

  • When renaming an address book through properties, I can no longer see the new address book in my list. Where did it go?

    I have about 30 different address books. Some of them where old but i didn't want to delete them. I no longer wanted them at the top of my list so I went to properties and added "z-" to the folder name to have them at the bottom of the list. Now I can't see the address books that I renamed. What happened to them and how do I get them back?

    Make hidden files and folders visible:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
    '''First locate all address book filenames in thunderbird.'''
    * In Thunderbird:
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * click on 'show folder' button
    a new window opens.
    If you were going to alter anything you would need to close Thunderbird, but on this occasion you are just looking for information.
    * organise the list by 'Type'
    * look for all files that have MAB File type
    each file will have a .mab extension and these are the address books.
    Two address books are default address books called:
    abook.mab = Personal Address Book
    history.mab = Collected Addresses.
    Other addressbooks maybe called eg: abook-1.mab
    * Make a list of all the address book.mab filenames. Careful.. as spelling is important.
    '''Now to check what filename = what desciption in config editor'''
    * In thunderbird:
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General tab
    * click on 'config Editor' button
    it will tell you to be careful :)
    now to locate info for each address book.
    '''How to search for each address book using info gained from checking the Profile folder.'''
    In top search type: abook.mab
    you should see this line:
    ldap_2.servers.pab.filename; abook.mab
    notice the 'pab' in ldap_2.servers.'''pab'''.filename
    In top search type: pab
    you will now be able to locate:
    * ldap_2.servers.pab.description; Value = Personal Address Book
    * ldap_2.servers.pab.dirType; Value = 2
    * ldap_2.servers.pab.filename; Value = abook.mab
    * ldap_2.servers.pab.position; Value = 2
    Using the above method will identify which .mab file in profile uses what info in config Editor.
    '''You can do this same method to check to see if the 'Z addressbook name' is in the list and which .mab file is assigned to that description.'''
    In top search type the name you assigned: Z addressbook name
    it should return a line:
    * ldap_2.servers.XXXX.description; Value = Z addressbook name
    make a note of the XXXX part in description
    In top search type: XXXX - whatever the actual description XXXX said to get the 'description', 'dirType', 'filename' and 'position'
    '''Please report back on results.'''
    Did you locate:
    eg: ldap_2.servers.XXXX.description; Value = Z addressbook name
    or was this still listed as old name without the Z part?
    Did you locate all of these 'description', 'dirType', 'filename' and 'position' for each of the missing address books?
    or were only some of these shown? Tell us what you found.
    Did you find that there were .mab files in Profile folder but they were missing in Config Editor or in Config Editor but not in Profile folder?
    Please state what was found. You can copy paste from the config editor.

  • Merging 2 address books without overwriting

    I want to add the contents of the address book on my office desktop IMac running leopard 10.5.6 into the address book on my black macbook laptop also running 10.5.6. is there a way to do this without completely overwriting the contents on my laptop? I don't want to lose what's already there, only add in the additional names and addresses. There is no security issue. I own the company and both machines.
    Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Hi,
    So here's what I did. My iMac G5 running Tiger blew up (logic board) and, while I wait for my new 27" iMac, I needed to put all the contacts from the old iMac on my macbook (running Leopard), where I keep different contacts. Since I couldn't open the iMac contacts and export them as vCards (because that computer was dead and all the user data is backed up on an external HD) for instance I needed to merge both address books another way.
    After reading through all these discussions and the ones on macrumors, and realizing that Address Book doesn't come equipped to do this easily (probably to get you to pay for a mobileme account) I took a deep breath and just did the following: Created an archive of the existing contacts on my macbook and then moved the entire macbook ~library/application support/Address Book folder to some place safe just as a backup of those; then copied the same folder from my iMac backup archive into that location on the macbook. Voila, not only did all my old addresses appear, but all the macbook ones were there too, without having to reimport them. No idea why this worked but it did. WOuld love however if someone more knowledgeable has an explanation.
    Couple of notes. I tried using migration assistant, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to just migrate the address book and nothing else from my iMac user account backup. Don't want all that stuff on my macbook. Also, if you try to import an Address Book Archive, it warns you that it will delete all current addresses, so won't work to merge two different address books. And if the macbook addresses had appeared magically, my plan was to export all the addresses from the iMac that were now available on my MacBook, then replace the ~library/application support/Address Book folders again and import the vCards.
    Final note, you'd think it would be easier to synch the addresses books on two computers. I'm sure plenty of folks have both a desktop and laptop they use for different things but would like to have all their addresses available on both machines. But, as I said, I suspect it has to do with drumming up mobileme business.
    Anyways, I hope this helps someone else and I'd love some feedback on why this worked.

  • Are my Address Book contacts in iCloud or On My Mac?

    Is there some reason why, since iCloud, we have to have duplicates of every Contact in our Address Book?
    Additionally, when I'm cleaning up my Address Book on my MacBook Pro (10.7.3) there's no way to tell if a contact is in "On My Mac" or "iCloud".
    I have seen no clear discussion of this. If I change an entry for "John Q Smith" in my Address Book, why doesn't it "Unify" as they do on my iPhone? I end up with two different Address Book entries, one in either iCloud or "On My Mac" with the changes and another without the changes.
    There is no field on an "Address Book" contact indicating its source ["On My Mac", or "iCloud"].
    Why do I need two entries for every entry in my Address Book? This issue has been correctly identified and treated on the iPhone — I get a "Unified" classification and a change to the Contact happens synchronously.

    I am already configured for, and using iCloud as my default account.
    If I select "All Contacts", I have duplicates of every entry in my Address Book.
    When I select the corresponding option on my iPhone, I get "Unified Contacts" — this is GOOD and SMART — when I change a 'Unified' contact on my iPhone, all the entries are synchronously changed. This is how Mac OS X 10.7.3's Address Book should be treating these entries. Is there not an option somewhere to activiate this same feature?
    IF I REMOVE "ON MY MAC" FROM MY ADDRESS BOOK ACCOUNTS, I WILL BE UNABLE TO SYNCHORONISE MY ADDRESS BOOK WITH ANY OTHER SERVICE SUCH AS GOOGLE OR YAHOO. This is highly undesireable. As lovely and singular as is Apple and it's products, there are other services in the world with which I must coordinate and this is beyond my control.
    It looks like, from the responses above, that I will be editing every duplicate Address Book contact for the foreseeable future if I want to have non-Apple sync-able contact database as well as be on iCloud, which I do love.

  • How can I move my address book from internet explorer to mozilla

    New at this and I need to know how to move my address book from internet explorer to mozilla. I moved my favorites list but cant find it!!!!!!!

    I don't think Internet Explorer has its own address book. Can you find your addresses by logging into your email website (e.g., Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail) or starting up your email program (e.g., Outlook Express)?
