Where in the world did you read Deleting All My Mail? I have reread my answer several times and cannot seem to find that in there.
When you mark a message for deletion it does just that. It marks it for deletion and hides the message. It is not truly deleted until you compact.
My point is that unless you deleted your important mail they should still be there somewhere.
Your question was about compacting and thinking it put your messages in a nice little box for safe keeping and now you want to open it.
I have to agree that Thunderbird did a horrible job of naming this process because most are like you and do not understand what it actually does. I included the link to the explanation of what compacting means in the Thunderbird world.
Your messages may still be available to your but finding them has nothing to do with compacting.
Thunderbird does not archive anything unless you use that process by selecting the message and pressing a. You have the option to setup where you want that archive to go and what folders to make.
The All Mail folder is a goofy gmail arrangement. If you have problems with that then you need to address that with Google.
If you go into your gmail account on the gmail site do you see the messages you are hunting in the All Mail folder there?

Need documentation for writing GPIB drivers for RTOS-32 using Borland C 5.51

I need to develop GPIB drivers (using the NI GPIB card) for the RTOS-32 operating system (by On-Time). I am using Borland C 5.51 as the compiler. I am looking for info/examples on writing/porting low level drivers for the GPIB. The examples I have found come with the low levels drivers in an object file which you link in, but nothing on how to write the low level drivers.
Any pointers on what documentation/examples that I should look at would be greatly appreciated.

Documentation on multiprovider

Hi gurus
i need to work on building a multiprovider using one infoset and one infocube. can anybody give me some good information and documentastion on multiproviders.

It is a just a physical structure not a physical storage of data The number of base InfoProviders of a Multiprovider is not more than 10 As a general rule of thumb, we recommend up to 10 Sub-InfoProviders, that are assigned to a MultiProvider and that are accessed simultaneously for one query; if you use more than this, the overhead in combining results might get too big. (Of course, depending on system resources and configuration, more than 10 Sub-InfoProviders can still result in good performance) .we can view data in multiprioviders not only in reporting level but as in normal cube.

Some packages really need documentation to be usable?

I have installed arch64 on my laptop yesterday and I have found that I like it really much. Anyway, I realized that I will have to do some work to download all the docs I need to use my computer as I usually use it (I usually play with -dev packages, like gtk(mm) and wxwidgets, and with math programs, like maxima). I will also have to download docs on how to configure my nvidia card to use twinview, even if I actually have no plan to use it. So, because I like arch and I want to give some ideas back, why not do a poll to see how many users are satisfied by arch's current policy (basically, rm -rf /usr/share/doc) and how many would like something different? Something different would be -doc packages for packages with huge documentation (for example gtk) and integrated READMEs for package with little documentation (for example the NVIDIA driver docs). Well.. lets see what people think about that..

This is a bad example, IMHO, since as phrakture said, you get more up-to-date API documentation online. I would never dream of using offline-documentation when I'm coding, I always keep a web-browser open to the page containing stuff I need. Well I used to when I didn't know it all by heart anyway. I haven't used this one, never heard of it. When I was playing with Blender (perhaps the most non-trivial app!!), I recall downloading one tutorial, but again, I mostly read everything online. I just bookmarked it. My web browser is never closed that way.

Your point about this being package-dependent is valid, but I'd say that it will be hard to find a package in this day and age that doesn't post its docs online. And if it doesn't, I say that package is broken.
When I was on dialup, I loved the fact Arch didn't install docs for me, cause it saved on my downloading. The one document I couldn't live without back then was the Java 1.5 API... and it was a pain to get online. In that case, I did download the whole thing and store it offline, but for everything else, google gave me the docs I needed. Now that I have a super-fast always on connection, google gives me the docs I need completely painlessly. I've personally never missed offline documentation, and I appreciate my hard drive being clear.
That being said, there's nothing stopping a group of people from creating some documentation packages and either putting PKGBUILDs in AUR or creating their own repository. I just have to say it is in direct conflict with Arch's philosophy to include docs with the packaging. It was a fundamental part of Judd's initial design decision with the 0.1 release and before.
