Thanks.

  • Universal Adapter for CRM

    Dear All,
I am involved in a case recently that need to use Universal Adapter for CRM Analytics to extract data from a 3rd-party CRM system.
The subject area is Consumer Sector - Performance. According to BI Apps Installation and Configuration Guide, I need to populate some source files, such as file_costlst_g.csv, file_dual_g and so on. However, I don't know what exactly data that the source files needed and the Installation and Configuration Guide doesn't supply enough information about the source files.
Can some one give me the help to find any detailed documents or other resources about Universal Adapter and the source files of Universal Adapter ?
    Thanks very much!

The Source files for Universal Adapter are always CSV files ...These are used for customizations...
Now coming to the configuration files follow the Installation and Configuration guide ... the parameters are there ...most of them
    Cheers

  • Configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 When Using Universal Adapter Exclusively

    Hello experts,
I have been working for a few days in trying to configure a fiscal calendar with universal adapter flat files as the only data source because Great Plains is the data source and since Oracle does not support it, we use universal adapters. We have had limited success with this but in configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 and doing normal configuration things such as configuring fiscal calendars and mapping GL accounts to group accounts using the Universal Adapter in DAC, there is virtually no documentation. In fact, when I Googled the universal adapter version of the group account codes file, there were 0 Google entries for it.
I am sending this new thread in the hope that someone out there has successfully configured OBI apps 7.9.6.3 using the Universal Adapter and can point me to documentation of any sort other than the normal Oracle OBI Apps Config Doc which only briefly mentions it and then takes file examples that are OOTB and unconfigured in any way.
Specifically, I need assistance in getting fiscal calendars working with the Universal Adapter. I have W_MCAL_DAY_D populated and all of the Gregorian calendar tables. However, the remaining W_MCAL* tables only have one row in each of them. I have an SR open about it but no success resolving it yet. While doing the configuration work, we tried to map GL accounts to group accounts but there is no account range in the Universal Adapter source file unlike the Oracle EBS version so I am unsure on how to configure group accounts. Oracle documentation only refers to Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, and JDEdwards. I am unable to find anything regarding the Universal Adapter.
If anyone has done this sort of OBI apps configuration before, please respond or send me URLs for related documentation. I am completely stuck and SRs are not yet helping so I thought I would try this.
Thanks experts and looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Krish,
You will have to create 20 Application Roles matching the Responsibility Names.
Use one of the following methods to set up application roles:
Create application roles in the policy store with the same names as existing responsibilities or groups in the source applications. Then, add the new application roles as members of Oracle BI-specific application roles groups, and the users will inherit this membership based on their own responsibilities or roles in the OLTP application.
Add new Oracle BI-specific responsibilities (Oracle EBS and Siebel CRM Applications) or roles (PeopleSoft Enterprise applications) in the source applications, making sure their names match the object security application roles in Oracle BI Applications, and assign OLTP users to these new groups. The users will then inherit the application role membership in the same way as described in the preceding method.
Application Roles in 11g are the Groups of 10g (http://blogs.oracle.com/robreynolds/entry/security_in_obiee_11g_part_2)

  • More details about Universal Adapter.

    Hi,
I would like to know what is the Universal Adapter, what is its role and when can we use them.
I am using OBIA 7.9.5. From the Installation and Configuration guide, I understand that the non-packaged data sources use the Universal Adapter. But I have not understood what does that mean in the right context.
    Thanks.
    Manoj.

The Universal Adapter is simple yet complicated.
Simple because all you need to do is generate a flat file (CSV) for the Staging Tables of the Application you wish to load. The documentation describes the structure of these files very well for CRM.
It is complicated because you must verify you have the right data and create a refresh schedule so the new or updated flat files are generated on the same schedule (or slightly before) as your Execution Plan.
I posted a thread on this topic, here is a link:

  • Universal adapter

I working now for a while with obi apps in combination with as source Ebs R12. I'm at the stage to use a other source. I want to ask you if my 'thinking' about the universal adapter are right.
For every source who has no adapter embedded, you can use the universal adapert container. In the DAC you won't directly connect to the source(like you do with oracle EBS as source), but use the csv files in the srcFiles map. So simpely say:
When you want to load 'human resources' in your warehouse. You have to find out wich csv files are all needed. Then, you have to get the data what's needed form the source and insert it in the csv file. In dac you can use the universal container and in this case human resource execution plan, to load the data in your warehouse.
    Am i right??

Did you use such source by yourself. Or is it just what you think how it should work. I also think, that using all those csv files, as aternatice source is a little bit crappy.
Anyone else know how to work with those csv files. And are they the source to use, if you work with the universal adapters.
    tnx in advanced..

  • Is a universal adapter ruining my battery?

    Hi,
I've had my Mac for a little over a year now; I purchased it in August 2009 in the U.S. For the first 3 months, I used it in France with a European Mac charger to fit the adapters there.
After that, I used it in the States with virtually no problems. But now, I've been in Korea for over 4 months and I've been using one of those universal adapters that you can buy at any convenience store. I'm not sure if this is messing up my battery, but something is definitely wrong.
It first started when I was watching a movie on my laptop. The computer just shut off. I looked up possible problems on forums and thought it could be an issue with the fan. However, it shut off a few more times after that despite being on a hard surface and the fan working normally. It wouldn't turn back on until I plugged it back in (despite there being about 30% battery life left).
Then, today, it was fully charged and I started watching a movie and within 15 minutes, the low battery warning popped up. Shortly after, while plugged in, I was trying to log-in to my email and it went to sleep! The system profiler says my battery life is poor. I don't mind buying a new one, but I must know: is that universal adapter damaging my battery?
    Charge Information:
    Charge remaining (mAh): 1222
    Fully charged: No
    Charging: Yes
    Full charge capacity (mAh): 1327
    Health Information:
    Cycle count: 325
    Condition: Poor
    Battery Installed: Yes
    Amperage (mA): 335
    Voltage (mV): 12602
Thanks for reading. I'd appreciate any help I can get!

For the most part, I tried my best to charge it fully and then unplug it until it was low battery again.
Doing this every time you use your MacBook is the reason your battery has problems. Here are some tips to follow when you buy your replacement battery.
Also using the plug adapter as you described does not hurt anything. Apple sells these as a kit, Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.
You do not need to discharge your battery completely every time you use it. Li-Ion Polymer batteries like little charges instead of big ones. It is OK to leave your battery hooked to the charger most of the time. The only time I unhook mine from the charger is when I calibrate
or use it for a short time. You should calibrate your
battery every two months, if you use it unplugged regularly, to keep the battery fully functioning. If you use your MacBook infrequently it ís best to calibrate the battery at least once a month.
A cycle,Determining Battery Cycle Count, is a full discharge and a full charge of the battery. This can happen by using the battery for 20% for 5 days and charging each time you used the battery. This would equal a 100% cycle. Charge the battery after each use, don't let it get lower just because you didn't use up all the power at one time. Its best in little charges. Don't worry if every once in a while you have to discharge completely when you are not near your power adapter. It happens. A little care and the battery can last years. Anything over 300 cycles means you should start considering replacing your battery.

  • Configure Universal Adapter 2 generate New BAW Tables or use Existings OBAW

    Hi Experts,
i have a doubt on if New OBAW tables have to be created as we add new subject areas from Universal Adapter Containers
or can use existing OBAW tables that are generated from Other containers.
    For Example:
Our Existing contianer is PeopleSoft 9.0 and OBAW Tables are created usign Peoplesoft Container.
of all the subject areas from Peoplesoft Containers, Only Workforce Profile and HR Payroll is used.
as the container is created using Peoplesoft 9.0, all the Tables (532 tABLES) are created for all the subject areas.
now, we are planning to use Universal Adapters to configure rest of the subject areas like Absence Managementr and Recruitment because they are maintained by Third Party Vendors which have no relation with Peoplesoft.
    my doubt is,
    1. if i can use the same Existing OBAW Tables for Universal Adapters or create NEW OBAW tables using Universal Adapter container.
    2. if ii have to create New tables using Universal Adapter containers, all the table belonging to other Universal Adapters Subject areas like Loyalty Analytics, call center analytics are also created by default. how to avaoid this. i tried to create OBAW by creating a container with Only HR-Absence Management subject area and Recruitment subject area, unfortunatley, all the tables are again created.
    3. it looks like there are common dimension files used for this Universal Subject areas, is it Mandory to use them to Populate HR-Absence Managment subject area.
    Please HELP
Is there is a good refernce guides on how to configure all this espically with Universal adapters in Out side world or in Metalink

Please take a look at this article which states SYSDATE is not supported in a
    where clause.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/bpel_cookbook/qualcomm-bpel.html
    Excerpt from the article:
Here are three important things you should do in implementing the above design:
Have the status of the record being processed stored in the database. The status includes the process state, next process attempt time, and processing attempt count.
Create an updatable view that exposes only records that are ready to be processed. A view is needed because the database adapter cannot handle a where clause that compares against SYSDATE.
Design logic that determines if a process instance that has faulted should be retried and when the retry should occur. This information will be updated in the database by use of a stored procedure. This can also be done with an update partner link and additional logic in BPEL.

  • Universal Adapter Bracket for M55 8808

I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M55 8808 desktop, and its hard drive died about two months ago. Fortunately, I had access to an old HP laptop that had some other parts gone bad, but still had a good hard drive. The problem is that the laptop drive is a 3.5" inch drive, while the drive that went bad was a 5.25" drive, so I need an adapter. The parts manual available online for my PC lists the "Universal Adapter Bracket 5.25 to 3.5-inch (all models)", FRU# 32P4743 for this purpose. However, this part seems very scarce. I only saw it for sale online at one or two places I never heard of for $30 or more, which is more than I would like to pay for it.
Does anyone know of a place where this part can be obtained affordably or of a different part that might work? I tried getting a CMS Products Universal Mounting Kit from Staples, but had to return it because it wouldn't fit.
    Thank you.

  • Parameter Filenames in Universal Adapter With Filenames In SrcFiles Dir

    Hello Experts,
We are running DAC 10.1.3.4.1 and Informatica 9.0.1 HotFix2 and are in the process of trying to get an OOTB DAC Execution Plan to complete. We are able to build a plan but run into issues when running. We created a custom execution plan called TEST with one subject area (Financials - Cost of Goods Sold) and when the plan is built, 248 tasks are generated. Only 9 complete succcessfully.
When looking at the details of a specific workflow within the Informatica Workflow Manbager, i.e. SDE_Universal_ProjectDimension, we find that within the workflow properties, the Parameter Filename Attribute = $PMSourceFileDir\SDE_Universal_Adaptor.SDE_Universal_ProjectDimension.txt. On our file system, the file is named, $PMSessionLogFile=FLATFILECONNECTION.DBCONNECTION_OLAP.SDE_Universal_Adaptor.SDE_Universal_ProjectDimension.txt. The task fails because it cannot find the file. We believe the different filenames are the reason but are posting this thread because we cannot figure why or how to get the filenames properly synched.
So you know, we are using a data source that is not an Oracle supported data source, hence we are using DAC's Universal Adapter to bring in flatfiles, like the one above for instance.
    Please help,
    Thanks

    Hello,
I don't think it was the source of your problem. It is always the case: DAC generates always SrcFiles with a name='Physical Data Sources Name'.'???'.'Informatica Folder Name'.'Mapping Name'
Where does your file FLATFILECONNECTION.DBCONNECTION_OLAP.SDE_Universal_Adaptor.SDE_Universal_ProjectDimension.txt created ?
Does this path equal to the DAC variable InformaticaParameterFileLocation declared in the DAC System Properties tab (menu Setup) ?
    Hope it helps,

There was a similar post just the other day with what I think is the same confusion.  You said,
I need a DVI-Video adapter or a MiniDisplayPort-Video adapter to capture VCR and analog sources.
And the way I read that is you want video input (keyword you used was "capture").  Is that what you really want?  If so adapters you are looking at is for video output, i.e., to send video from your computer to a display device (e.g., a TV or monitor).  If you really want to video input (into your computer) then a simple cable isn't going to work.  You need a pci card that handles such functionality.

How do I access compacted mail on a Mac version 10.5.8 stuck with Thunderbird version 16.0.2 ? I am unable to access needed documentation for Taxes, etc

Where in the world did you read Deleting All My Mail? I have reread my answer several times and cannot seem to find that in there.
When you mark a message for deletion it does just that. It marks it for deletion and hides the message. It is not truly deleted until you compact.
My point is that unless you deleted your important mail they should still be there somewhere.
Your question was about compacting and thinking it put your messages in a nice little box for safe keeping and now you want to open it.
I have to agree that Thunderbird did a horrible job of naming this process because most are like you and do not understand what it actually does. I included the link to the explanation of what compacting means in the Thunderbird world.
Your messages may still be available to your but finding them has nothing to do with compacting.
Thunderbird does not archive anything unless you use that process by selecting the message and pressing a. You have the option to setup where you want that archive to go and what folders to make.
The All Mail folder is a goofy gmail arrangement. If you have problems with that then you need to address that with Google.
If you go into your gmail account on the gmail site do you see the messages you are hunting in the All Mail folder there?

  • Informatica - import data from line 6 in sample files in universal adapter

    Hi ,
I am trying to extract data from R12 tables to sample CSV files provided by oracle in universal adapter CRM analytics.
As per oracle guidelines we are supposed to import data from line 6 as first five lines will be skipped during ETL process.
While importing the the target file in target designer ,I am entering 6 as value in the Lov box "Start import at Row".
Still Data is loaded from first line of the file and not 6 th line.
Please let me know more on how to achieve this requirement.
    Thanks,
    Chaitanya.
