That depends on the business functions that must be performed by the endusers. I usually focus on business tasks, rather than software functionality.
When I conduct enduser training, I usually spend a week or two interviewing several Key users about their day-to-day activities. Once I understand how they will be using DP, I then prepare the most common scenarios in a sandbox. Then, I produce step-by-step instruction documents, usually containing screen prints, for each task they will be performing. During the class, I go through each business task one-by-one, in a real system, filling in details and theory verbally, while they read along in their written manuals. I put very little technical info in the enduser docs, since that type of information should already exist in the technical specs that should be on file with the IT group.

For building MDM repositories - Vendor, Customer and Product in SAP MDM, I need default values of SAP ECC fields like -

Note : Take help of functional person who can guide you proper way regarding who's default value are populating at ECC sceen which dependent on configuration setting or ABAP programming and not on referance table so according to buisness demands you need to set default value to mdm even if there in no referance table or default value in ECC

Need advise : Risks of using materialized views

Hi -
I need some advise on whether using a materilzied view can help in teh folloiwng scenario.
Scenario : You have a large tables which has sy 60 million rows, This is a demand management application which accesses this data at various aggregate levels (It is not using any OLAP functionality). The worksheets that is used to display the data takes up hours to execute on.
To solve teh above scenario I created partitions on the base table say by time and the on top I created some materialized views. This gave me tremendoud gain in performance for the worksheets.
Question is : Will Materialzied views help in situations say where the user changes the data in the worksheet and another user tries to query the changes will the materialized view be able to show the changes or do I need enforce a fast refresh. all the standard option of enabling query rewrite and fast refresh are enabled. The parameter for query_rewrite_integrity is set to Trusted.
Please advise what could be teh pitfalls in managing such huge data where some of it changes infrequently.

Manual condition types need to be reapplied after material change

HI Team,
For some of order items user enters manually condition type through VA02 for availing discount for the order item,
I am having a custom program for updation of sales orders, Through which we can change the order materials.
Order 123 having item material ABC. For which he entered manual condition type ZXYX.
now using custome program he wants to change the mateial ABC to XYZ. Thorugh custom progam material is updated. Price has been recalculted.
But customer wants condition type ZXYX also need to apply for the XYZ material.
Please guide me how to proced.

Here in item pricing update i.e
FORM USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMP *
write PERFORM preisfindung_gesamt(sapmv45a) USING charc.
where charc is 'C' (copy manual pricing elements & redetermine others) or you may also use 'G'(Copy pricing elements unchanged and redetermine taxes.)
This surely works.

Valuation type need to maintain for Subcontracting material FG

Hi,
i have a scenario like plant A is subcontracting SFG to Plant B and receiving FG to Plant A from Plant B.
i have maintain this as V valuation type.
when i am doing billing in Plant A for this product i am getting error like no cost estimate found for product.
As it is "V" and it has BOM and it has price in it.
And i have maintain in KEPC setting aganist this material type against this plant.
if i remove this setting probelm can be solved
but this plant has got some other FG products which are produced in house so we do costing run for it.
is there any solution for this material type that can allow billing with "V" price also with out making changes in KEPC.

Need a user exit before material substitution executes in VA01, 02

My client has a unique need in SAP AFS. When entering an order, they have material substituion turned on and they want it to always execute. The problem is that we have a custom FM that must execute prior to material substitution - it will determine the material first and then material substitiion should use THAT material to detemine if it needs to substitue a material/grid. I have put break points in every exit I could find in the SAPMV45A exits. The one I would normally use is in MV45AFZZ for changes for VBAP, VBEP, etc. - but no matter what exit I put a break in for debugging (to see when it is called during order entry) - material substituion always executes first. yes, the exit for VBAK executes prior to material substition but that is at the header - I need the order lines. Also note that we are talking about the UPC/EAN tab - we are entering a UPC code and that gets the material/grids we need - this is not on the normal order line screen.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Only solution was a repair to SAP, so we found way for standard SAP to handle it.

I need to put some training material on 20 ipads

The company I work for is providing material for sales people and it needs to be put on their ipads. The materials will be a video and some pdfs. I am not too familure with how the Ipad works but is there a way to get this information on there?

You can use the 'default' apps to do that : iBooks for the pdfs and Video for your video's. But you will have to switch between them to see the different files.
Or, another solution, you can buy an application called GoodReader ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/goodreader-for-ipad/id363448914?mt=8 ); this app can read all kinds of files (doc, pdf, audio, video...). One of the many great things of this app is that you can create folders to order your files, rename the files etc...
Another great thing, you can get the files through iTunes or ftp, webdav, dropbox etc....
The feature that will mostly interest you is the possibility of synchronizing a folder between a server, dropbox, etc.. an your ipad.
There are many more features, it's really a great app. (I am not affiliated with them ;-) )

As you mentioned you are looking for ECC to PI integration.. let me provide you few basic things..
SAP PI is a middleware and used for SAP to SAP ot SAP non-SAP integration..as you said you have installed ECC and PI.. that means you got ECC system as Sender or Receiver system and PI as middleware integration tool.
let me provide few more basic details..
through PI we can connect to Database by using JDBC adapter
we can connect to FTP by using File adapter
or to some other SAP system by using RFC and IDOC adapter
or some JMS queue by using JMS adapter.. and so on.. so as beginner I will suggest you to start with basic scenario which is File to IDOC ot File to RFC or IDOC to File or RFC to File..
As you now have ECC you can have IDOC and RFC adapter and the only thing you need is installed FTP and start with basic scenarios as mentioned above..
now for steps by step procedures and all you can search SDN and there are many weblogs, articles step by step guides available.. so use it..
