Need experienced web designer in Bay Area!

We are seeking a web designer to fine tune the user interface
for a product website.
This product website is launching this week! We are looking
for an experienced web designer with immediate availability to add
the final professional touches to the product website, including
SEO and key user interface design enhancements.
This site will have high visibility and online viral
potential.... and should be a fun project!
It would be great if you can please provide links to examples
of your professional work.

When you create a webpage in iWeb anything you drop on it, text, images, movies are stored in the domain.sites2 file.
In Mac speak it's an Package. A folder disguised as a file.
You can open that file, right-click and choose *Show Package* content, to see what's inside, but you cannot add you own content to the file directly.
Worse, if you loose the domain.sites2 file you have to start from scratch.
You can host anything on MobileMe in the iDisk > Web > Sites folder.
The only thing you have to take into account is the index.html file that redirects to a page in a Site as explained in the pdf.
If your Site depends on a custom index.html file in the root, then make sure iWeb does not overwrite it by accident.
I always have a copy of the index.html file.
To avoid overwriting, read this article, the part about the Dummy Site :

  • Need Good Web design books - already a print designer

I'm already very familiar with photoshop, illustator, and indesign and have been using them for years.  I'm now looking to start learing web design and need suggestions on a good book or books that aren't just about dreamweaver or fireworks, but rather something covering the intergration of applications as well as the basics. Any suggestions?
    thanks

    daevaux,

  • Web Design/Graphic Arts Student needs help choosing a Macbook.

First post on board so greetings!
I have went back through all the archives and read every post I could on purchasing a Macbook for Web Design/Graphics but would like more info.
Being a first time Mac user I am a little overwelmed by the all the guru talk. I will be going back to college next month for mainly Web Design/Development with Graphic Arts thrown into the program. The College has Mac Desktops to use but some of my classes will be online and I would like the portability of a Macbook to work from home with.
I will be having to use Adobe Creative Suite (all 10 programs within it) and Autodesk 3ds Max. Being that I will be dealing with graphics I am willing to pay for the 15" Retina Screen. I have read that the Quadcore I7 processor may be over kill since alot of programs will never use the extra cores but with technology changing all the time I don't want to have tot upgrade in 2 years.
So I'm looking for suggestions and will gladly add more info to help make my choice...
    Thanks in advance!

    welcome to the ASC-
I would buy quadcore, with RAM maxed out and the largest HD for your specified needs.
Web Design/Graphic Arts you will have many software packages running simultaneously to do your work.

  • Beginner Web Design help with tables

For my college Web Design course we are building a basic website using tables and basic coding. Right now I am trying to align this img with the text on the left. The width of the outer table is 1024px and everytime I try and add the img into its own <td> it pushes outside the outer table. I would add screenshots of the code and css, but for some reason it isn't allowing me to insert images into the post.

    SnakEyez02 wrote:
I don't agree 100% with previous comments made about tables because they are still relevant for email layouts due to archaic applications like Outlook using the brilliant "Word" rendering engine or Google disabling CSS in the header for GMail.
    Hear, hear!!
I have never bought into the nonsense about how tables should be used for tabular data only. Adobe has been touting the power of tables as layout tools for as long as I can remember, and still are: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WScbb6b82af5544594822510a94ae8d65-7da3a.h tml (Although the wording has been toned down some).
DIV/CSS based layouts were not a part of my workflow until a couple of years ago. At that time, my plan was to make the switch from table based layouts (which already used a fair amount of CSS) to strictly DIV & CSS layouts. That’s when I discovered that Outlook and Gmail were unable to render DIV & CSS based newsletters. When I studied the newsletters of the industry leaders, and realized that almost all of them use tables with inline styles, I decided to put my workflow switch on hold.
While all of my mobile work is strictly HTML5 (DIV’s & CSS), I have given clients the option to go with either CSS or table based layouts for their websites. Most choose table layouts. Design migrations from Photoshop to Dreamweaver are 10 times faster with tables, with little to no CSS hacks, and far easier to maintain than the purists are telling you. This makes table layouts less expensive in the short and long run.
As far as SEO is concerned, Google doesn’t care either way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL_GZwoC2uQ
With all of that said, the W3C is planning on having the HTML5 recommendation finalized by 2014, at which time it should be completely stable and away from the bleeding edge. And while it is my hope that I will be done with table based layouts by then, I do not feel it is right that Adobe should make that choice for me by continuing to remove critical table, image, and text based tool sets from Dreamweaver. If for nothing else but newsletter design and development, we need those tools back.

  • I have new macbook pro retina and is there a web design format can use?

I have new macbook pro retina and is there a web design format can use?

I'm not understanding your question. I think you would use any of the current web design formats. Are you talking about what styles to use? If so see the css standards css1, css2, css3 to see what they can provide and which browsers are most compatible. If you are talking about languages use a current standard like html5, php, C#, visual basic , javascript, etc.
Be more specific about what you are asking.

  • Any other drag-n-drop web design apps you like?

I'll start by saying I think iWeb is great, and though I can build sites traditionally, drag-n-drop is to web design right now as Pages is to WordPerfect in DOS...
so I'm looking to expand on the capabilities of iWeb, and hoping for any recommendations on other web design apps that are on your list.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    What about Rapidweaver?
    What about Sandvox?
I tried Rapidweaver once for about five minutes... I never really used them... I used Dreamweaver until two month ago... I liked it...
    I love iWeb.
    Enjoy your day,
    Cédric

people complaining about problems installing an office over another office are (dare i say it) stupid. it makes absolutely no sense installing one over the trial version. just uninstall the trial and you'll be fine. every single time.
as for problem with uninstalling mcafee (or any other antivirus, for that matter, just download the uninstaller from the software company e.g. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 for mcafee.
that said i believe you get to choose if you want mcafee and/or office when you go through the inital boot, the "on-screen instructions"
you can slow down the odd via power manager
and thanks for the tips on changing the reg to have the user profiles somewhere else!

  • Need guidelines for designing for web

I'm going to be doing some outsourced design for a web developer. I'd like to build the file - a whole web page - in Photoshop and am needing a place to start.
    - First, what is the best setup size for that file?
He uses Fireworks but says he doesn't think his version - 8 - can use PSDs. So he wants a PNG. Does a conversion support layers?
    - What is the best tool for approaching this? Should I build it in Photoshop or is there some other program that is better for doing this? Am I at least on the right track?
    - If anyone has any other advice, guidelines, suggestions that would be helpful in doing this I would appreciate that also.
My Photoshop level is probably about intermediate so if any of you pros have some wisdom to share that would be great. I've never done design for a web page other than some work on my own, which is still a work in progress as I am not a web developer - so the design itself looks nice, but the web page part is still a work in progress.
    Thanks =)

You don't need to be the one looking for some of these answers, he does. But good for you for asking. But he should know his file requirements and what programs he has and what they can do. Sounds like he struggled with web design with Fireworks and probably had little taste in graphics and so has now 'hired out' to get someone else to be responsible for his lack of knowledge.
I mean, are you designing a fluid page or do you really need to know the exact dimensions for the page and if so, shouldn't he provide those??!
You can design a page that is a good mock up and slice it up and port it over and he can take the cells where there needs to be content and/or navigation and pull out those parts of the image you created and put in what he needs to make the page work, using CSS or regular links or working within Fireworks. But if you are trying to design something so vague then I agree with Jim, this may not be pretty.
Tell him what you can do and feel comfortable with. If you are just designing the page but he is developing the page, then keep with that. You should ask what size page, the total weight he wants, over all suggestions and then you get to work and do the details for the banners or graphics and he develops those into a working PHP or ASP page. If this is a shopping cart, then I would say this won't be an HTML page. If the page will have a banner across the top, then ask what size banner would he like and is there a minimum size to make the banner fluid?
My question, why not find a good working template out there and you do the customization with the graphics and let him use current proven technology? Go look at web templates with him online. Find something and then do the graphics to customize the template as needed. There are templates for Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and other programs using PHP or ASP pages. Does he know what database he is using, or if the server is Apache or MS? Wow.
If you are designing, again... let him develop. These are two different things. Know your limits. And good luck...

  • Continue using Web & Design Premium CS6 and need new serial number

I have Web & Design Premium CS6 and i want to continue the use of this program, were can i find or buy a unlimited serialnumber?
    Thanks,
    Bas

When you buy CS6 and are given a serial number to install and activate, my understanding is that you already have an "unlimited" serial number
EXCEPT... I read a message recently about a "free" Education install that had a serial number that expired Adobe CS6 valid serial number downgraded to tryout
Why do you think that your serial number needs to be replaced?

  • Can't open Reader V9. Says part of suite (CS4 Web Design), need to open other module.  but getting error message 148.3

I'm running Windows 8.1.  I had to create a new account identity because of some corrupted files.  Now I can't open Reader V9. Message comes up saying it's part of a Suite (CS4 Web Design) and I need to open other module first.  I tried opening Dreamweaver, got error message 148.3 and program closes, says to contact customer support.  My CS4 Seb design suite is old and I've since gotten PS Extended CS5 and PS Extended CS6, but not a whole Suite.  Perhaps the license needs to be re-entered but the program closes before I can do anything.  Please advise.

What is your operating system?  Can you post a screenshot of that message: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1070933
I also think you should use a newer Reader version on Windows 8.x, i.e. 10.1.10 or 11.0.07.

  • Need help in web design

We need simple database design for our website
www.koolbuck.com. In addition, we might need dynamic webpages using
dreamweaver. Currently we host at godaddy.com with SQL or mysql.
    This is the primary requirement:
    1. customers can sign up, log in, view and request to change
their info. There are about 20 data fields.
    2. Admin page can view/change/delete/sort customer accounts.
We can manually edit customer's request changing their account
info. I don't know if we need this since we might be able to access
    database on godaddy.com
    3. If possible, know which banner, date and time they click
    on the banner.
If interested, please contact me at [email protected]

    Hi Chinna,
    > i want to use HTTP to soap Scenario. Please let me know the necessary steps in the scenario.
    Split this into 2 scenarios
    1. HTTP to SOAP (Request) treated as Asynchronous.
    2. SOAP to HTTP (Responce) treated as Asynchronous.
For HTTP to SOAP synchronous scenario
Here the receiver side request and responce structures no need to create, the receiver client will provide you the XSD file, on that XSD file having the request and responce message structures, so you have to import that to XI server as External definition.
For sender HTTP you have to create 2 data types, 2 message types as well as 2 message interfaces, 2 message mappings for request and responce messages and 2 service/Message interfaces (HTTP is outbound and SOAP is inbound).
    Configuration objects are same.
    Regards
    Ramesh

  • Possible San Francisco Bay Area Assistance Needed

    Hello,
I'm in a bit of a jam and it's possible (about 50/50) that I may need a bit of assistance in the Bay Area next Thursday or Friday.
Apple is likely going to replace the motherboard on my Mac Pro this week.  Unfortunate.  It is covered under Apple Care, but the delay impacts my April 19 deadline for my film.
I have about 24 gig of video data from a Sandisk UDMA 32 gig card that I would like to offload so that I can shoot my final footage next weekend.  I have a 32 gig thumbdrive we can transfer it to.
The footage was shot on a Canon 5D and I would like to borrow someone's PrPro software here in the Bay Area, if necessary.
Alternatively, I could Fed ex the card and pay for return fedex as well.
    Thanks for considering this.

    Thanks Hunt.
Looks like I better go out and purchase a copy of the hilarious book "My First Movie" an interview with 20 famous directors about the fiascoes and adventures that accompanied their first film:

I backed up my media, but didn't have a spare MacPro when its motherboard went down!

  • Hi I need help regarding web design

Hi all I am currently studying A Level ICT and for our coursework we have to produce a website using Adobe GoLive. I have encountered a problem as I am manufacturing an online sports shop and instead of having portal pages I was considering have a dropdown tab (not sure what they are called) appear once you hover over a button. Below are some examples of this
    http://www.kitbag.com/stores/kitbag/football.aspx
    http://www.jjbsports.com/
I have asked my teacher for help but she won't help me because to be honest I dont think she knows herself. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me because I am new to the software and am clueless. If you can help please comment here or send me an email to [email protected]
    Thanks Matthew

It may interest you to know that Adobe stopped product development and support for GoLive back on April 28, 2008.  I'm flummoxed as to why you are being taught to use obsolete software.  You should be working with modern web developer's tools, not an outdated product that will never again see the day of light.
Dreamweaver CS5 generates web standards code for 2011. GoLive does not. If interested, Dreamweaver has an Academic Rate for students and teachers.  Please pass along this info to your teacher.
    http://tryit.adobe.com/us/cs5/studentteachereditions/?sdid=FXOPM&
All that said, the menus in your examples are called Mega Drop-Menus and they are based on an open source JavaScript library called jQuery.  If you can work with HTML and CSS source code,  you can implement Mega Menus into your pages fairly easily.   See link below for Demo and Code Tutorial:
