Need Feedback

Hi People
If you have a minute, could you please give me feedback on
this
The Feldkircher
Flash Blog, its in its infancy at the moment but I will post
regular tutorials primarily on Website design in Flash. At the
moment it's aimed at the 'newbie' but any comments would be
appreciated
Thanx for your time
The Feldkircher

Looks and sounds good so far.
I think you need to get rid of the blue screen over your
widget. It doesn't help; makes it look like it's inactive. Or at
least when you roll your mouse over it, it should be crystal clear,
not with a slightly more translucent layer.
I want to read more!

  • New design for site - need feedback

    I am still learning web design, and now that I know I little
    more I decided to re-design my website. I need feedback from all of
    you. Does this new design look better? What do you think needs to
    be changed, added or removed?
    Here is the current design:
    http://northshoreclassifieds.com
    Here is the new design:
    http://northshoreclassifieds.com/new.htm
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi, I just now saw this post. it looks like you are trying
    several
    methods to center the table.
    <body><div class="centered"></div>
    <table width="760" align="center" cellpadding="0"
    cellspacing="0">
    (The rest of the table)
    </body>
    </html>
    Either method works, you don't have to do it twice. :)
    Your table is centered in IE 6 on XP Pro SP2, are you still
    not seeing
    it centered? Try emptying your cache.
    You can ditch every single font tag; you're using CSS in the
    head, so
    just do this:
    body {
    background: #62758C;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    text-align: center;
    background-image: url(images/backgroundimage.gif);
    font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    Everything is a "child" of the body, so you don't have to
    have this in
    your other style definitions unless you wanta different font
    for some
    style.
    Hope this helps!

  • New to PRE and need feedback on my system build

    I played around with the trial version on my old computer and decided to go ahead and purchase PRE 9 and PSE 9 together. I have built a few PC's in my day and recently completed my current build running my purchased software. I was hoping that I could get some feedback on what I have and what I might change to get better performance. PRE is very jittery when scrolling through content and playing back the timeline. Sometimes I don't even see a transition. I am new to video editing in general and capture in HD with my Canon HF S100, so I am planning on editing in HD as well. Sorry for the NoBo question, but my machine smokes until I fire up PRE. I may be using the application incorrectly, but I am assuming that my low end video card, is an area of concern/bottleneck. I don't want to blow $800 on a Quadro 4000 if it won't make a huge difference, but I assume it will. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

    This ARTICLE will give you some tips on your I/O sub-system setup for video-editing.
    As for the Scratch Disks, think of those as the "working files," that PrE produces and needs to edit video. Part of those will be the Media Cache, where you will have the CFA (Conformed Audio) files, the PEK files for Waveform Display, etc. For a bit of background on Conforming, see this ARTICLE.
    Now, for ultimate performance, one would want to spread the I/O load over as many discs, as is possible. The OS and programs accessing the HDD is a given, but you have already segregated them onto C:\. Then, one has the Scratch Disks, which also require quite a bit of access. The media is accessed often for many operations, and then there is the need to Export/Share. In a perfect world, one would allocate a separate HDD for each of those operations, with one caveat: when one has finished a Project, there will then be the cleanup of the files. If one has spread the Project over multiple physical HDD's, they must go to each, and do the cleanup. OTOH, and at the sacrifice of ultimate spead with I/O access, if one has placed their Project into a root folder, say [Project Name], and then accepted the default location for the Scratch Disks, for Same As Project, all they have to do is Delete that Project Name root folder, and everything else comes with it. As I migrate Projects between computers, I locate everything in a Project Name root folder on an external, and then everything is below that folder structure. For media, I leave my Assets on an NAS, and just Copy over what I need to the various media sub-folders, like Video, Stills, Music, Audio, etc. I give up performance, but have everything that I need to move the Project about, and cleanup is easy. In my case, each external has a permanent drive letter assignment in the OS of each computer, so that drive Z:\ is always Z:\ on each computer, and regardless of what else might be plugged-in to that computer. Makes life simple for me.
    Hope that this helps.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • A brand new query tool is out on beta, we need feedback, so you get a free copy

    We at Nob Hill Software are working on a new query tool:
    http://www.nobhillsoft.com/MarieAlix.aspx?HeardVia=ptut
    You can read all about it on the above web page, but basically, its a very ambitious project to create what we call 'the query tool to end all query tools': everything you ever wanted, desired, dreamed about in a query tool, and then some.
    For that, we need people who will download it, use it, tell us what they think, what's good and what's not, and what they would like to see in the future. This program has been going on since winter 2009, and so far we've made plenty of DB users happy - but we could always use more feedback. No catches, no tricks, we will never ask for money or anything - just to know what you want, so we can put it in. When the tool is finally out on production, all those who contributed will have it for free - for life.
    If you're interested, just download and start working. Then email us your feedback, which can be anything from a single sentence to entire pages.
    Contact us through the site if you have any questions!
    Thank You
    Nob Hill Software

    Why do you think any of us would want to do business with a company that demonstrates a profound lack of professionalism

    Something to think about eh?
    An apology would be the appropriate thing for your next, and last, post.

    Im sorry guys for not replying it was probably because I didnt add this topic to my Watchlist. Now it is. Anyhow, I wrote a slightly different main() so you can test the custom JPanel again. This time it displays a red label. Once you place the mouse over it, it should make another JLabel (green colored) )visible. Known issues still include unwanted flickering, use of threads(instead of timers), and too many lines of code(7.5KB). This code is public domain so the community can make any changes. Please post your code modifications in this forum.

  • I need feedback after calling browser api installApplication

    Hi,
    We developped two applications using Flex builder, the first application is a Flex online application, the second is a Flex desktop (air)  application.
    When the client openes the online application in his browser, he is asked to install the desktop application, and when he clicks on the install button, we use the browsing API to launch the installation for the desktop Application, the procedure followed by the online application is as following.
    1- Loading the air.swf from http://airdownload.adobe.com/air/browserapi/air.swf
    2- Checking if the AIR runtime is installe
    3- installing our AIR application from the needed URL as does the example bellow:
    var url:String = "http://www.example.com/myApplication.air";
    var runtimeVersion:String = "1.0.M6";
    var arguments:Array = ["launchFromBrowser"]; // Optional
    airSWF.installApplication(url, runtimeVersion, arguments);
    Our clients are experiencing sometimes different kinds of problems installing our AIR application from the browser, we want to be able to detect those errors, and redirect the clients to a troobleshooting page, the problem is that there is no feedback from the installer to our online application.
    MY QUESTION IS:
    Is there a way to a have feedback (from air application installer) after to call airSWF.installApplication.
    Keywords: flex, air, browser, api, install, application, event, installApplication, air.swf, damaged.

    TyskJohan,
    In scenarios like these where we have an API available and the business logic requirement involves lot many complex validations, its better to go for jdbc calls. You are basically reusing the exiting code and It saves lots of coding effort instead of trying to think all validations, duplicate the existing code.

    Hi, can you give me feedback on my podcast website? (http://complexicated.podcasting.googlepages.com/index.html) and also I need help in Flash on how to add a link to an outside source from the scrolling text part. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    About the scrolling text, I do not know if it is inside the flash file, but I did this using an external text file (html) loaded into flash with css. But it has to be a way
    About the site. Nice idea, nice animation. The only thing that do not strikes me is the design. I would like something more minimal but maybe thats just my opinion. First I do not like the use of icons and photographic images. It should be one or another. Than I would minimize the color palette. Browse thru kuler.adobe and find one that you like. I think the dust and scratches from the film (sepia) do not match the bright colors of the left side menu. But than again it just my opinion. Anyway nice idea.

  • Is there any way to feed back software bugs to Apple or are they too arrogant to think they need feedback?

    Since the last upgrade my mail make LOTS of draft copies (and puts them in my deleted file) and then doesn't delete the last copy after the send. I can't find anyway to give Apple feedback (guess they feel that they don't need customer input).
    This is clearly a bug but I don't know how to let them know or set the the draft "backup" to way less activity.

  • Cracking the procedure-Need Feedback!

    Hellow everyone...this is my Q, i got basic code put together, need some help to complete the following procedure(i'm working on my programming skills with pl-sql) kindly guide me...if i'm wrong !
    write a function/procedure that will take a year parameter(e.g 2007)
    and will go through all AP Invoices (with invoice_date falling within that year)
    for the Vision Services organization (org_id=458) and output all
    project numbers that are associated with any of these invoices.
    Also output the count of project related invoices and a count of non-project related invoices
    ----basic information of columns and tables necessary to write procedure--
    SELECT ppa.segment1 project_numbers
    FROM pa_projects ppa
    ,ap_invoices_all api
    WHERE api.org_id='458'
    AND invoice_date BETWEEN '01-JAN-2007' AND '31-DEC-2007'
    AND api.project_id = ppa.project_id
    -----My procedure- (It has to be corrected--)--will appreciate some feedback
    create or replace procedure year_parameter (p_year in varchar2,
    p_out out number)
    as
    v_year varchar2(10);
    v_out number ;
    cursor c1(p_year in varchar2) is
    select project_id,invoice_date
    from ap_invoices_all api
    where api.org_id='458'
    and substr(invoice_date,7,10):= p_year;
    --and to_char(invoice_date,'YYYY')='2007';

    for c_rec in c1

    from pa_projects pa
    where pa.project_id=c_rec.project_id;
    dbms_output.put_line(v_out);
    end loop;
    END;

    This is already your 3rd post abaout this "procedure thing"
    Need help with this procedure!
    Re: Need help with this procedure!
    OK, just a few comments:
    - use the data type of the values and do not let them implicitly convert
    - what means "outputting" inside a procedure as a procedure normally runs on the database server with no terminal connected?
    - if invoice_date is an Oracle date data type then the line
    AND invoice_date BETWEEN '01-JAN-2007' AND '31-DEC-2007'is just plain wrong as it is only working by accident. Ther correct condition would be
    AND invoice_date BETWEEN to_date('01-JAN-2007', 'dd-mon-yyyy') AND to_date('31-DEC-2007', 'dd-mon-yyyy')- if org_id is of type number why you compare it to the string '458'? Compare it against the number 458
    - for me, the year 2007 is either a date or a number but not a string. So the parameter should be defined as date or number resp.
    As I can not really figure out what you want to achieve with this procedure it is hard to comment.

  • New game, need feedback

    www.GameLizard.com
    click Games and find "RPG". This is the first working stage I have of the game. So far all that can be done is the buying of stuff in the shops, workings at the hotel, and fighting in the arena. Now I need help weeding out bugs that can already be found and advice for future progress. Any comments at all would be appreciated. Posts on my forum would be useful too since I'm hoping anyone that will play the game, not just those from these Java forums, will offer feedback and I'd like it all in one place. If you're too lazy but still want to give feedback, I guess I'll be ok getting it here :)
    Thanks for checking it out!

    eventually I hope to change that map to a 3D view, which would make relative controls more appropriate. Anyone have any experience to maybe offer help with that? I figure I could have a floor, ceiling, and generate the walls based on the map. Could I do that? And stick it in the middle of my applet like that?

  • I need feedback from anybody who has the 2011 baseline 15" MacBook Pro

    I need anyone who has the new baseline 15" MacBook Pro to give me feedback. Like, is it fast enough, is the resolution ok, is the hard drive fast enough at 5400 rpm or is it slow in transferring data, especially this point, does it require any upgrade, and all that other stuff.

    Perform a SMC Reset, it could be causing your battery problems.

    Honestly I wouldn't spend too much trying to upgrade your computer. It has an aging dual core Athlon processor, and only 2GB of RAM. Even with the highest top of the line card, with that CPU/RAM setup, your computer is probably going to struggle to run it.
    Hate to be the bearer of bad news.
    If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
    I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
    Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

    Restating my issue / question...
    When I send email from this iMac, there is a string of characters assigned. The characters are all the "alpha numeric" characters on the QWERTY key board. This only occurs when email is sent from this iMac. The issue does not manifest when using any other lap top or computer.
    Hence, I have ruled out the issue is a yahoo mail matter.
    Again, I can access the Yahoo mail account form multiple devices and send email without unintended assignment of character strings, but when I send wmail using this iMac, the issue happens everytime.
    Characters are stacked verticaly in a column. It looks as if all characters (except function keys) are included in the string.
    Any ideas?

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; } | open -f -a TextEdit
    This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

    I am considering Flash for a solution for this though I
    haven't used it since the dawn of the internet. :-) So, would this
    be something I get to work in a pretty speedy manner? I think the
    biggest hurdle for me would be the function of when a star is
    clicked on, the action then stores the value into a form input (to
    be passed upon submitting the form).
    My other alternative would be a javascript and .gif combo...
    (something I'm a bit more familiar with)... but I am liking the
    idea of using flash. Any comments are much appreciated, as well are
    any pointers on where to find relevant tutorials or info for this
    endeavor.
    Thanks!,

    So, I have started the 5 star rating .fla file.
    I have set up 6 keyframes (for the 6 different rating stages)
    at: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50.
    At frame 0 I have the 5 star image that has no stars filled
    in.
    At frame 10 I have the 5 star images that has 1 star filled
    (of the 5).
    ..And so on to 5 stars filled in being at frame 50.
    I've been looking at some tutorials (and will continue to),
    but I was hoping you all may have some ideas on the best way to
    tackle the action... Like in my link in the first post, If a user
    hovers over, lets say, star 3, then they should automatically light
    up 3 stars.. my thinking is that the action at that point would be
    to jump to frame 30 and stop. I think I can find that piece of
    script, but what I don't know how to do is to segment out "hover
    areas" on an image. Any pointers?
    thanks,
    Donovan
