ThankS a lot.

These posts don't really make any sense. MP4 is one format that an iPod nano can play, but an iPod nano is not itself an MP4 (and there's no need to SHOUT).
The bottom line is that "firmware sharing" is piracy and would be a violation of the terms of use of this forum. You can always get the current version through iTunes; most people who are looking for older versions are attempting to troubleshoot using an incorrect method. If this is what you are doing, read the posts and articles to troubleshoot your specific issue, and if you are still stuck, post a detailed and complete description of the actual problem here (preferrably using coherent English).
Apparently, there are some situations where Windows users updated their iPod's firmware, only to find that this forced them to update iTunes, only to find that this forced them to upgrade Windows! I guess trying to downgrade might be appropriate in this one case.

  • Podcast woes, would like to downgrade firmware iPod nano (4th gen.)

    Hi,
Every since I upgrade my iPod nano to firmware version 1.0.4, I can't seem to make playlists where multiple podcasts play one after the other - in all cases, it plays one podcast, then stops. As I love listening to podcasts during running, this implies that I have to pull out the iPod every time and select a new podcast manually... quite annoying. This even holds for podcast playlists made "on the go" - it plays the first podcast, then stops.
In light of this, I'm wondering whether there's a way to downgrade the firmware, as if I recall correctly, 1.0.3 didn't have this issue. I can't seem to find the firmware anywhere, though, and from going through the discussion forum it doesn't seem to be something supported by Apple. I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this issue, either by pointing out a walkaround, or by indicating whether downgrading firmware is possible at all...
    Many thanks,
    Philipp

My 4th Gen iPod Nano won't turn on once it is off the USB cable. If it is connected to the iMac (iTunes 10.1 (54)) it works perfectly well (synchronizes, plays music). Have tried to reset it (holding the Menu and Center buttons) and to reset it to its original settings (current SW version is 1.0.4) and it still wont work.
    Any suggestions?

  • We need an iPod nano Do Not Do List

Instead of sitting here and asking what can my nano do or what can't it do or how can I charge it etc.
I'd like to see liek 10 Cardinal Never Do This with your iPod nano list.
And this goes out to the hard core iPod and tech experts here.
For instance, I have found that holding the Center "ok" buttob and "menu" as "Reset" Solves about 80%+ of my issues
But is this Harmfull to do when Connected. Do we need to Safely Remove HArdware before doing a Reset?
As you can see 1 process can spark 10 questiosn easily
If we hard liek 10 HArd and Fast Rules of Never ever do this it would answer most questions on the forum.

Like an iPod Ten Commandments List.
Thou shall not Unplug the USB Cable if thy iPod Showeth Do Not Disconnect on its LCD screen.
Or something like that I hope?

  • RE: Help needed w/ iPod Nano game issues

I have an 8GB 4th generation iPod nano, I've downloaded a game for it and cannot sync it to my iPod. The game shows up in my itunes library in the applications tab, but not were the games tab is. I also don't have a games tab under my iPod in the devices tab. I've tried to drag and drop, but to no avail,as well as manual and auto synchronizing. If anybody could help with this I'd greatly appreciate it.
    Thnx R1PP3rJack

    what game is it?
some games aren't for the nano... just to make sure you downloaded one that's compatible, what's it called?

  • HT1339 I have an IPOD Nano 4th Generation 8GB and need to restore to factory settings as want to sell it; however it will not reset and when plugged into my MAC it says firmware corrupt? CAn anyone shed light on what i can do to overcome this issue?

I have an IPOD Nano 4th Generation 8GB and am unable to restore it back to factory settings even when it is connected to my MAC.  I have tried the menu/select hold but is not doing anything.  When connected to the MAC and select restore in itunes it comes up with 'Firmware Corrupt'.  It also states the IPOD is up to date.  I have the latest operating system on my MAC and wonder if this may be part of the issue?
Can anyone shed light as to what i can do to reset it back to factory settings as would like to sell it and ensure it is ready for the new owner.
    Thanks

  • My ipod nano 6th gen doesn't appear anymore in iTunes since firmware update.

My IPod nano was upgraded to the firmware update to 1.2.
I've lost all my music on it during the firmware upgrade (not sure this is normal).
I can't see it anymore in ITunes.  I got some windows blue screen when trying to solve the problem.
I've tried to uninstall-reinstall all Apple products on my windows 7 (following the apple support, with bonjour, quicktime, ...).
I've also tried to connect it on 2 other fresh windows machines, but it doesn't appear either ...
I've tried with other software but impossible to use because the first libray must be created with iTunes.
The iPod seems normal and the screen is reactive ... but I can't use it without any music on it.
I've reset my ipod with no luck. Tried in disk mode also, .... what can I do more ?
I cannot restore it because it's not visible in iTunes.
Many thanks for your help !

  • Ipod nano video firmware

I think the current v1.0.2 firmware is in need of an update, as this has caused me no end of problems with my ipod nano video, causing it to shutdown on it's own and then require switch to disk mode, to restore. Trouble is, each time I get it back to v1.0.1 firmware, as soon as it's connected to iTunes, it recognises v1.0.2 is available and prompts me to install (whether I have auto update checked or not).
With v1.0.2 I also have a problem after I've added songs as the ipod just switches to a black screen with the apple logo and it can't be used. Not much use for a player bought as a present for someone.
So c'mon Apple, do the decent thing and provide a firmware update to fix this problem, as it seems I'm far from being the only one having problems going by the forums here.

Send your feedback to Apple via the appropriate link.

Also, when discussing the nano 3rd gen, it's always best to use the correct forum.

  • How to run games on ipod nano 2nd generation with firmware 1.1.1

Does anyone know if you can run games on the 2nd generation ipod nano with the latest firmware of 1.1.1 when the itunes store with games wants the system to have firmware 1.2.
This means that the games must only work on 1st generation ipods or that 2nd generation ipod nanos do not need this level of firmware.
Games are not loading on my ipod.
    Any advice?

Nope, sorry but games are currently only supported on the 5th Generation (video) iPods. Also the 1.2 firmware is only for the 5th Generation iPods.

  • IPod Nano stops working after 1.0.2 firmware update

I just updated the firmware of my ipod nano last night to 1.0.2. I was using thru out the day when it suddenly stops playing the next music in my playlist. My ipod shows the play icon but there is no sound and the play track is not moving. Tried to play a different music and videos but the same problem occurs. Tried to reset is several times but doesn't fix the problem will try to reset the firmware later when I get home.

Just got the nano 3rd gen yesterday. Already had a Nano 1st gen. Running Itunes 7.x on windows 2000 os at work (1st gen nano used there). Needed new Nano in a hurry, so went to RShack and bought one. Ran home....Itunes says wont work with Nano 3rd gen. Went to download upgrade for Itunes, and find out the upgrade won't run unless running windows XP or VISTA.... Borrrowed a laptop with XP OS and got latest Itunes. Happy...happy...joy...joy, now I can get Itunes and new Nano to work together. Now gotta get music off old Nano and into new Nano usiing borrowed laptop. (Found a program on net called 'SimpleCenter' to do this.) Xferred music from old Nano to Itunes on laptop, then transferred entire library to new Nano. (Was out of reach of wireless network while doing this, so was unable to 'UPDATE NANO' when prompted by Itunes.)
    Sooo...
Took laptop over to its owners home (and wirless network) and Updated the firmware to 1.0.2. When supposedly complete, the new Nano starts to Reset continuously (Apple Logo....Menu Screen......Apple Logo.....Menu Screen....Apple Logo etc. etc.) Oh 'darn' ........
So frustrating.... Disconnected new Nano from laptop during the couple seconds the main menu was showing.
For grins went to play the solitaire game that comes with new Nano, but comes up with error message saying it (the game) won't load. (Worked fine earlier, before the 'upgrade')
Oh Mannnn..... I find that there a 'ton' of other 3rd gen Nano usere having same problem with firmware upgrade 1.0.2.
I will wait for some response from Apple on this issue for a few weeks before I take the device back to dealer. I expect that this problem will be resolved by Apple in quick order in the form of a new firmware upgrade (or something similar). I really don't want to hassle the dealer at this time, and can live with the old Nano at least until the end of November, when I will be needing both Nanos for a special event.

  • Ipod Nano wont update firmware

    Hello,
I have a dialup connection and although, I can download video content, and the new apple itunes 7.3, I have not been able to get my ipod nano to update the firmware version from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3.
I will either get kicked out during download, or get an error message related to verification of the file.
Is there a separate way to download the file directly, or do I have to use itunes.
    thanks
PC running window$   Windows XP Pro

In the restore instructions it says that you need to plug the iPod into a power adaptor during the second stage.
    Not really.
    Actually it says,
"iTunes will present one of two messages on screen with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
    * Restore Instruction 1: Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
    * Restore Instruction 2: Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models)."
You will get Restore Instruction 2.

  • IPod Nano Latest Firmware Page and Download???

I would like to know where apple has their Ipod Nano (2nd Gen) firmware page so that I can keep up to date on the firmwares. I do NOT want to install iTunes under any circumstances as I do not use it, and don't ever plan on using it. I'm sticking with winamp for all of my transfering as it's much more intuitive and a much smaller foot print (i.e. more efficient code and no windows services installed like on iTunes).
    Thanks

The second generation iPod nano's firmware isn't available outside of iTunes; if you have a copy of the firmware file, you still need iTunes installed to run the actual update process on the iPod.
Apple stopped producing standalone iPod updaters when iTunes 7 was released.

  • HT2305 I have a new computer with Windows 8 OS.  Do I need to install drivers so that my Ipod Nano will sync with this new computer:

My daughter gave me a new Ipod (Nano) for Christmas.  I had no problem download my songs from my old Ipod (Shuffle) to the new one.  However - since I do not buy songs on a regular basis, I did not buy a new song until 4/29/13.  Now for information...sometime in March my old laptop died, completely.  I had to go buy a new one - which I did and this new one has Windows 8 Operating System on it (which I hate, btw).
Now, when I bout a song on Tuesday, the song did not go to my new Ipod.   I tried everything and finally had to talk to a tech - who was very kind in helping me and we did get all my songs from Itunes to this new computer.  I thought the song I bought would then go on the Ipod - but it did not.  I had already hung up from the tech - since we had been talking on the phone for about an hour.  He informed me that he was giving me a "courtesy break" because it has been over 90 days since my new Ipod was purchased ---- just my darn luck!
Anyway, I have figured out on my own that the new Ipod Nano is not synced with the new laptop with Windows 8.  I have been trying for the last 2 hours to get it to do so and in doing so, found out that Windows 8 is not mentioned in any of the help forums.  So...my question is:  Do I need to install drivers on the computer or what?  I will not be purchasing anymore music from Itunes until I get this matter resolved.  Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.

  • I need to get the music off my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN onto either ITunes or in a music foldes on my new computer. Not all the music was purchased from Apple Itunes HOW DO I DO THIS WITHOUT LOOSING ALL MY MUSIC??

I have not had a computer for several years and I just got a new one. My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. Thank goodness I had it all on my Ipod Nano 2nd GEN. Now my problem is that I don't know how to get the music off my Ipod Nano onto my new computer!!! I was able to get the songs that I purchased thru ITunes by just authorizing my new computer. But I have alot more music that is on my Ipod nano that I can't put into my ITunes library. In fact, I can't even get my music into a file folder on my computer!! I really need help. I don't have any copies of the music anywhere else and some of it is hard to get. How do I get my music either into ITunes or into a file folder on my new computer or even if I could get my computer to recognize my Ipod and sync all the music into windows media or something like that. Every time I connect my IPod all that happens is that it tells me if I sync the IPod that it will replace all the music from my ITunes library on to my IPod. And I am guessing that means all my music on the IPod will be erased. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thanks from the bottom of my songsters heart

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I upgraded to lion. I tried to buy an audio book and download it to my nano like I have done at least 50 times before. Now the dialog box states that I need an ipod touch for the same function. MacBook Pro 2008 w/ m.trac

I have a 3rd generation ipod nano. I recently upgraded to Lion which is causing lots of issues. Aside from that, I went to the Itunes store to purchase books like I have done at least 100 times before with no problems. Now I can by the book and get it to my computer, however when I tried to download the book to my 3rd generation ipod the dialog box informed me that to download any new audiobook purchases I would need an ipod touch. My ipod nano 3rd generation serves my purposes just fine. Why should I be forced to buy something I do not want just to continue something I have always done seamlessly? I know this is more of a rant than a question but I am sure someone else out there has had this happen to them. Maybe you could share your thoughts on how to work around this issue if possible?

I forgot to add the last obvious and crucial step I had taken - plugging a different iPod into my system. It was also not recognized. That was the final proof I needed to determine if the problem was device or system. But now what?
I truly appreciate any help I can get!
    Thanks again...

  • HT1339 I have tried restoring an Ipod Nano 6th Generation but it seems to keep looping back and saying it is in recovery and needs restoring, can anyone help?

I have tried restoring an Ipod Nano 6th Generation but it seems to keep looping back and saying it is in recovery and needs restoring, can anyone help?

Try doing a level reformat of the iPod's flash storage instead to see if that kills the restore loop using the instructions in the article below.
