Need FL-inverter for my Satellite notebook

Hiya my first post so i hope you can help me?
I have done a stupid thing and put a magnet next to my laptop screen and it all went dark,
i can see writing behind the screen and it all powers up as it should,
I took the laptop to a computer shop and was told that i had damaged the "INVERTOR" i was told this would cost me £125.00 to put right, is there a cheaper way? can i buy an invertor and put it in myself or do you think it would be to difficult?

I think you mean the FL-inverter ;)
This is a single part behind the display usually its not expensive but I dont know exactly how much is it.
I would recommend contacting the authorized service provider in your country and ask for the details. I know that such parts can be ordered from the ASP.

You have to install Value Added Package and Flash Cards Support Utility. Both tools can be downloaded on official Toshiba website:

As Dr.Lamp wrote the Hotkey utility is only available for Windows XP. For Vista and Windows 7 you have to install the above mentioned tools. Install VAP first and then Flash Cards Support Utility. These tools control the FN keys for example so after installation the buttons F1-F12 should work properly again. :)

VISTA probs-need latest drivers for X-FI Notebook

HI All,
I simply can't resolve the problems with installing the X-FI Notebook card on my Dell VOSTRO.
I tried to work through the customer support team- none of their advices worked for me.
In my opinion it's the crappy default driver that isn't working correctly.
I can only use the card in audio playback mode. No recording available.
And even in this mode the card will only work with 6-bit audio depth.
Can you please give me a direct download link to the very latest audio driver for
Creative X-Fi Notebook?
I am requesting the link since I'm a bit confused by the number of different downloads out there. I tried so many of them but none worked for me.

Usually the system will be activated automatically if internet connection has been established during the first boot.
So please connect the notebook to internet in order to activate the system.
If it will not work, follow the workaround described in the Toshiba document.

Dont know what *Satellite L645-xxx* you have exactly but such series was released for USA market too: for example +Satellite L645-S4102+
Therefore the manual could be downloaded also from Toshiba US support page; of course it depends on model you have.

Well, a friend of mine has ordered some parts from the Toshiba service partner.
I assume you can also order the FL inverter from the ASP in you country.
As far as I can remember the FL inverter is not very expensive. But do you know how to change it?? Do you have enough experience to replace it??
I think its a very risky procedure because the whole screen must be removed. And you know; the screen is a one of the most expensive parts on the notebook.
I think if you dont be any technician so ask someone who has more experience in such reparation procedures. The best way is to ask the service guys.

You should visit the Toshiba page posted by Terentino.
There you would find the drivers for U940 series.
It provides two sound drivers: one from Realtek and one from SRS. Install both. The sound driver SRS provides additional sound improvement effects.
Additional be sure the graphic card driver is installed too.

Generally speaking the Toshiba EU driver page provides all drivers for Toshiba EU notebook series.
If you need another version, you will need to search somewhere in the net on 3rd party pages for independent, modified drivers.

Need WXP drivers for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

I've had to re-install Windows XP on my laptop. I don't have the Toshiba drivers CD though.
So I came here to get the drivers but I've no idea which driver goes with which hardware in my Device Manager.

...that 114 different items! And I can see a lot of those items are not mandatory and/or are not drivers. More to point though, it does not solve my problem of needing to know the names of the drivers I should download (as presented on the downloads page) in order to fix my Driver Manager problems?

Need wireless drivers for Satellite A100-259

Hi
Had to reformat my daughters laptop (A100-259 PSAA2) due to virus issues and am in the process of rebuilding it. Almost there but can't seem to get the wireless bit to work. Nothing appears in the system tray even when it's switched on (little switch on the right has the light on). I assume because i've reinstalled XP that i need to reinstall the wireless drivers but i can't seem to find them on the toshiba web site (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK). It only shows the Atheros management utility.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate especially as i'm pretty new to this kind of stuff and she has lost the manual that came with the laptop.

I dont know why no WLAN drivers are available for this A100 model and Windows XP but you can search for an other A100 model (for example Satellite A100 PSAA8).
Then you will find an Atheros WLAN driver for Windows XP and it should also work.

Need swappable CD rom drive for the Satellite 230CX

After hours trawling the net, I still haven't found the part number for the swappable cdrom drive for the Satellite 230CX.
Sadly a couple of sites say it's the PA2659U / XM-1402B, so I bought one from eBay, and it doesn't fit!
Any help would be appreciated with either the straight answer or a pointer to a parts list.

But usually it should be possible to order the supported and compatible CD rom part from the Toshiba service partner in your country.

DOS attack affected BIOS ACPI - need DOS BIOS for Satellite P60

Help!!!!
I am looking for the DOS version of the latest BIOS for the Satellite P60(C), but it seems it is not available for any users on any Toshiba site.
I installed the latest (1.9 for windows) but have the feeling that it still was not good enough to stave off attacks, since suddenly it does not want to boot from the hard disk, and even running software from the CD ROM meets up with a "sticky" end. (either BSOD with ACPI invalid information) or it will not even start on the hard drive, but will start on the floppy drive.
So, I am looking for the latest version of the DOS-based BIOS, but they have locked it out on the USA site and do not show it on the Canadian site.
I have repaired a lot of computers, installed BIOS updates.
I do not know what the difference is between the BIOS of the P60E, P60C, P60A, but assume since it is based on the same model parameters it could not be that different.
So, what I am looking for is the BIOS for mine, but will settle with any one of the P60's

I think you will be not successful finding a traditional BIOS update.
The Toshiba pages provide only the BIOS updates which can be updated from the Windows OS.

I think the differences are not visible for a common notebook user but it looks like the different A60 notebooks were delivered with different devices like CPUs or GPUs and therefore the BIOS update is not the same.
